Graham McNeil's Forge of Mars - 3 book series - was a very good read.

ah. do you have the core rule book and the codex for the ynnari? You need those 2 to really make a list.
You may want to invest in a piece of software like - BattleScribe that will let you plug in values and do all the point calculations and validations checks for you.
A light box can make a huge difference. I grabbed one of these for about $30 and it's been great.
Then put your phone on a tripod and bump up the exposure slightly. A tripod keeps your phone stable during the longer exposure.
I'm going to concentrate on the base more than the mini. The full flock layer looks a bit weird. I suggest instead that you first lay down an earth texture. Either using premade texture paste product, or the old school mixture of Elmers glue and sand painted with brown craft paint. Quick and dirty drybrush with a lighter brown. Then atop this there are two routes: The first is you dab irregular shapes with a little elmer's glue and use that to make irregular grass shapes on your base, the second is that you have a batch of flock premixed with sand and gravel which you apply onto the base with a more even thin coat of elmer's glue all over.
In either case, while the glue is still wet, run your finger on the rim of the base to remove any excess flock for a nice clean rim presentation.
This stuff is pretty magical. Technically haven't used it on FW resin, but I have used it on GW resin and metal (and third party resin).
Don't be off-put by the 'gap filling medium' label. I picked it up after a recommendation from an employee at my LGS, and he's been using it for over 20 years for basically everything. It takes less than 10seconds to dry, and you don't even need a full droplet.
I got mine on amazon. Was looking to spend less than $20 to see if a light box was worth it and I think it was. Really enjoying it. It's a nice lil box for the price. I like all the back drop colors it came with.
Wish I got a larger one but need to do more research before purchasing. Lots of the reviews i read mentioned the potential of lights going bad quickly, cheap materials, shoddy construction, etc for any box that was less than $80.
This is the one I got

You can pick this stuff up at AutoZone for like $3 a can. I swear by it. Stay away from the white, it's a gloss. Black and Gray are flat.
What could also be done to reduce the shiny effect on the nids would be to hit it with a matte varnish like this
Lore book on Amazon expected to come out sometime this year, but it could totally be just a lore book and have no connection to what might drop with 8th
