Not too long ago I would have strongly agreed with you on this, but I think I'm softening up a bit.
Without thinking too hard about unresolved subplots, contradictions, and unanswered questions, the way I feel about the series is that it depicted realistic people in an increasingly confusing and mysterious universe. I think I would have been disappointed if the story had been all efficiently wrapped up with no loose ends.
I wouldn't have wanted Starbuck to be explained as yet another type of Cylon and have her go off into the woods holding hands with Lee. I like the void, the echo she leaves behind. I think the feeling is "saudade."
I wouldn't have wanted the colonists to build a safe, happy little village and have an Ewok celebration. I like the sense that they are all kind of changed, even damaged, by what they've been through, and are now making decisions -- like destroying the fleet and splitting up across an uncharted planet -- not out of logic and duty but out of desperate, shell-shocked exhaustion.
So now that some time has passed, and I'm not looking at details, for the overall tone of the ending to be a bit unsatisfying and haunting -- I guess that suits me.
NXIVM is an org presenting itself as a lifestyle group for people who want to be successful in business and art. Beneath all the group-affirmation and self-actualization seminars is a super duper weird cult. Its founder, Keith Rainere, claimed to be a reincarnated Jewish freedom fighter who died in WWII, and he told most of his inner circle that they're reincarnated Nazis who can only redeem their souls by having sex with him.
There is also another layer, DOS, with strong master/slave elements. The final ritual to enter into DOS is to get branded (via a surgical cauterizing tool) with a symbol that forms the initials of Rainere and Allison Mack.
There's an excellent podcast called CBC Uncover, and the whole first season is about NXIVM, mostly featuring interviews with an actor who got out, but still has her branding scar to prove it.
FYI, if you’re interested in the complete series on blu-Ray, Amazon has a very good deal right now for $47.49.
No financial involvement, just a big proponent of physical media.
Amazon Instant Video has the miniseries available (in the US, anyways; not sure about other countries). That seems pretty legit to me.
First, I'm assuming that they are looking for the Bear McCreary soundtrack from the 2004 series, not the 70's series. And let me tell you, the soundtrack is killer.
The soundtrack is sold per season. The season 1 soundtrack on Amazon is like $40 new. But other seasons can be at regular prices. There's not any special version of any of the soundtracks that I'm aware of, just for the main seasons, and the movies/miniseries.
I would start with this and then maybe get some additional seasons. Personally, I think the season 2 soundtrack is the best.
I don't know why you've been downvoted... hola is reselling your bandwidth to cover costs and it's literally riddled with security risks. That said, I have no idea is zenmate is the any different. I use Private Internet Access.
Here's a link to the episode on iplayer for anyone in the UK.
There's also the free fanmade videogame, Diaspora: Shattered armistice, in which you play a Viper pilot during the attack on the colonies by the cylons
Here's the official webpage http://diaspora.hard-light.net/ And the IGN review http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/25/diaspora-shattered-armistice-review
This is what you're interested in.
HOWEVER, it doesn't have The Plan or Blood & Chrome. I'm not aware of any "complete series" set sold in the US that has both of those, too. Also, it lacks the webseries, "Face of the Enemy," which was released on disc only in Japan.
In revisiting the music over the pandemic, I’ve picked up the Caprica soundtrack and Solo Piano releases. Still fabulous.
I got the silver box Bluray collection, and it including most everything. None of the webisodes, but all the extended episodes, Razor and the Plan. Got it for $90 before tax.

The order you are supposed to watch BSG in was posted a really long time ago and I followed it for my second watch through and it opened my eyes! Here is the thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/BSG/comments/f1y1k/is_this_the_proper_viewing_order_for_a_first_time/
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/11/robodynamics-luna-the-5-foot-tall-personal-robotic-platform-tha/
to be fair, SgtTechCom already got the first post about the story, (http://www.reddit.com/r/BSG/comments/h8tb4/anyone_else_thinks_these_look_like_early_models/)
I have this one It has the 2 part movie premier, all seasons with regular and extended episodes, It has The Plan and Razor and even has the web series called 'The Resistance'
It does NOT have the 'Face of the Enemy' web series tho. That can be watched online here
I purchased this set for my first watch of the series: Amazon Link. No issues with compatibility that I experienced; good quality.
It's got the mini-series, the complete series including extended versions of some episodes, and Razor. It's missing The Plan, but I think this box set is a pretty good value - it's really decently priced compare to other box sets.
64 bucks for the entire series, the miniseries, razor, and a ton of extras. It came out before the plan was released so it obviously doesn't have it. I know you said streaming but at this price there really is no excuse not to. Plus the video quality will be better than streaming.
This is the box set I purchased and it does include "The Plan". I was honestly thinking it included Razor as well but that doesn't show in the description so I will have to check on that.
Thanks! :) I am glad that you are excited, it's a very fun costume!
If you want to use the jagua ink, the kind I used was this. I know there are also a bunch of people who sell temporary tattoos on Etsy and stuff for around $10-20, not quite sure how much. I'm not sure how long you might want it to last. Those would definitely be a less time and labor intensive way to go.
The jagua one did last for weeks though, so if you have multiple functions, that might be a good way to go!
Glad my suggestion came in handy! Now I just need to take a picture of my framed Propaganda posters and Eaglemoss models as well...
The most "popular" I'm aware of are the set of in-universe propaganda-style posters made by Quantum Mechanix. I have the set, and they are lovely when framed, but not cheap.
There's a few others, but other than that you may have to settle for non-official posters typically found on Etsy. The main reason is that it was a pretty adult show (especially for 2003) and thus not much merch was made or marketed. It was never Star Wars or Star Trek, you know?
Went in originally looking for a decent poster of BSG to put on my wall, found this listing for an autographed photo of Tricia Helfer as Caprica Six on Amazon. Had to snap it up, of course.
I found an unused frame while cleaning out my attic that was in good shape, so when it came in today, I immediately framed it. Will put it up over the weekend.
I love the sharp look of the hsip in the first pic and I love the huge wall map in the second for the bridge/CIC. The third and fourth pics remind me of one of the "Ghost Fleet" battlestars from Blood & Chrome.
I know they're supposedly working on a new Galactica movie and if they adhere to McQuarrie's look, it could be great. (Except for his Cylons ... they lack oomph, for want of a better word.)
You can see more of McQuarrie's work in this Amazon listing.
Instead of maintaining a list the mods have to keep up to date, they could have a link to https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/battlestar-galactica which includes a button for changing your region. It already shows BBC iPlayer in the UK.
From ten lightyears away, most of the constellations would probably be pretty similar. I remember seeing sci-fi art that have had some recognizable constellation in the sky of another star, with our own sun added to it, because of the angle.
There's a program, Celestia, where you can view the galaxy from different perspectives and different times, so you can play with it and see how far in space and time you can get and still recognize the sky. https://celestia.space/index.html
The Final Five comic book and graphic novel.
Fuck yes. I had recently ordered this son of a bitch and have been enjoying every minute of it for a proper rewatch. I have every single thing they ever did with this reimagined version of the series pirated, but felt it was time to own some legit copies for once (as well was enjoy better quality than my damn downloads).
I was referring to the Prosecution's opening statement in "Crossroads" part one. It's explicitly mentioned that humans were left behind.
Here is a video link to the scene:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/2169/battlestar-galactica-how-do-we-measure-loss
edit: removed extraneous apostrophe
That shouldn't be £60
According to the reviews here this set includes almost everything for the 2004 series - The miniseries, razor and all the extras.
Not clear if it includes the resistance and doesn't include the plan.
Just pirate anything missing, everyone has already been paid anyway.
Hey, quick question for anyone who comes in here, but finding the full length version of Razor in the UK is a real pain in the ass, but I think I might have tracked it down. Is this the right bundle? It says it has Razor and the broadcast version of Razor, but does that mean that the main Razor it has is the full length version?
So Say We All: The Complete, Uncensored, Unauthorized Oral History of Battlestar Galactica https://www.amazon.com/dp/1250128943/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_wR.VFb9EH11Z2
I enjoyed it. Grew up with the original series and loved reading about that as well.
Looks like Amazon says it'll have it in stock next week
Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series [Blu-ray] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0036EH3U2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0rloDb45E6Z96
This is the only complete set. It's the remastered Blu-ray set with Razer, plan, minisodes and webisodes. You would still need Blood and Chrome and Caprica but those aren't technically a part of BSG2004.
I concur with the second point. If you can't afford to at the moment but you end up really enjoying the series, i suggest buying the blu-ray of BSG which has a plethora of additional content. It's super worth it. This is the one i bought (and also one of the cheapest, but it's very good quality).
Here are the direct links to the Pilot (aka mini-series) and The full series:
Get the entire series on blue-ray for 48.00. That Box set was on sale for 39.00 a few weeks ago. Includes Razor as well
How's the picture quality? Someone on amazon was complaining about it not being too good for the bluray (one of the recent reviews).
This is the other one $120: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0036EH3U2
As far as I can tell, the longer versions seem to be only in the Blu-Rays.
But you can get the whole set for as low as $28 (used) on Amazon.
Poster was from here: https://www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Galactica-Anniversary-Print-Poster/dp/B00IWUJTY8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491689717&sr=8-1&keywords=battlestar+galactica+poster
Myra's Gallery & Custom Framing in College Station, Texas were the ones who framed it for me. They did a really good job.
buy it here £30 is more than reasonable
I found one on amazon. I've already ordered mine. :D
I mean, it's fun to have a discussion, but this is settled canon... for years now. Even on the official soundtrack, the tune the piano man is picking out is called "Dreilide Thrace Sonata No. 1".
Z£34.95 is $50 so after shipping to the US you aren't saving much...
Here's the US link to the Blu Ray set for $57.00 with free shipping. :) http://www.amazon.com/Battlestar-Galactica-Edward-James-Olmos/dp/B0027UY8B8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1454962914&sr=8-2&keywords=battlestar+galactica
Also this is the UK release and per the comments section these will play in American disc players!
If you want BEST then you have to get the blu-rays from Amazon here, NOT the cropped and zoomed version, but the original aspect ratio made for 4x3 TVs.
Here's the black box set, I got it recently along with The Plan separately and am competely satisfied with it, especially for the price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0027UY8B8/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_cuu7vbYMXJA78
I'm not sure. Bought it from a site on Amazon but I'm pretty sure they just have stickers.
If you love the show shell out 60 bucks to get it from amazon. It's got all sorts of deleted scenes, extended episodes, and commentaries that make it totally worth it. It's less than a dollar per episode for crying out loud.
The only thing it doesn't have is The Plan as that came out after the box set, but that's cheap enough on it's own.
BBC America usually plays the repeats.
I found this set on amazon, it's an import from the UK, but should play with the right software on your computer.
As someone who bought it when it first came out and paid - I'm not exaggerating, I just looked up my original order - $209.99, FFFFUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKK. I actually keep checking and haven't seen it under $100 lately, but I've heard it goes on sale regularly. You can actually get the version I own, in the larger box "with collectible Cylon" action figure for $90 plus shipping.
They have DVDs too. Usually fluctuates between $90-$140.
Also you can get Blu-ray players for fairly cheap now.
^That's ^why ^I'm ^here, ^I ^don't ^judge ^you. ^PM ^/u/xl0 ^if ^I'm ^causing ^any ^trouble. ^WUT?
This is my favorite TV show of all time. I cannot second this recommendation enough. Every sci fi fan should watch Space Above and Beyond. You can buy the whole series on DVD here. It is a little dated at this point, but I think it has some of the best writing and acting you'll find in the first season of any sci fi show other than BSG. Plus it has a basic training sequence with R Lee Ermey as the drill instructor, so it's worth watching for that alone.
The casting they used looks like they just ripped off the Hasbro Titanium series. Amazon
Source: Looking at the mini on my desk.
2: I was recently digging r/BSG and found post where someone said that her story was explained a bit in Battlestar Galactica: The Final Five; it got authorization from show producers.
But personally I think is good that some plots aren't explained, are unspoken. You'll be wondering for the rest of your life what happened but it's good because you're getting back to the world that you loved once ;]
I own this version, it's the full series that also comes with optional extended episodes, bonus features, and Razor. Well worth the $60:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0027UY8B8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There is also the book Battlestar Galactica and Philosophy that delves into some of these topics (and more). In fact, you can just search that title and one of the first results will take to you a full text version online.
I strongly recommend reading the comic miniseries "the final five" . It's considered canon, and talks about what happened to starbuck, pithia, and the 13th tribe's trip to Earth.
I got it on Amazon ! I'm debating getting a different chain for it though, since I don't like the cheapo ball/bead chain it came on. But the dog tag itself is pretty heavy and looks nice!
The BSG recording is actually the original recording by Glass himself, and I agree it is far better than this recording. Much more emotive and fluid.
Galactica-Actual, I'm impressed. You certainly know your BSG. Have you by chance read The Science of Battlestar Galactica?
It's pretty awesome. They cover everything and go into an insane amount of detail. I also bought this but haven't read it yet so I can't really say.
I really liked Cylons in America: Critical Studies on Battlestar Galactica.
(Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Cylons-America-Critical-Battlestar-Galactica/dp/0826428487)
It was written before the series completed, so I would have liked to know what they would have done with the ending. Nevertheless, I think its offers some interesting scholastic points that certainly enhanced my viewing once I started watching the show again.
That was me kidding, of course. This mug seems to fit your description closest. If it doesn't, you can always order a BSG sticker for a plain mug. I'm sure ebay has tons of those.
Here are some books: http://www.bol.com/nl/s/boeken/zoekresultaten/Ntt/battlestar+galactica/Ntk/internat_books_all/Nty/1/N/8299+8292/Ne/8299+8292/search/true/searchType/qck/index.html?_requestid=170784
There are some novels available. But haven't read any of them
