https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bonologue.heliumgeek I'm using this one, it isn't perfect (as it needs port 44158 open to communicate) but have everything to monitor your hotspots and good widget and funny "cash in" notification sound 👍🏻
High as possible. Window doesn't make any difference. These are radio waves, not light waves. There are many posts here about windows. If you can mount your antenna on a stand get it as high as possible - even touching the ceiling. Or, you can physically mount it to the wall with little plastic clips that are used to hang up brooms on the wall.
I gain nothing from giving you this link, just so you know, this is not a referral link, just trying to help you out. This is the exact Antenna i bought. I have my bobcat miner in my basement window, I ran the cable up to my roof and attached the Antenna to my direct tv dish on my roof and it works great. They have some that have magnetic bases if that is what you require. But the magnetic base makes it lose 1 to 2 dbi.

This is the one you want, it's low loss so better than the stock pigtail

My guess, from my personal experience is that you have an antenna problem. Check your connections and be certain the connector on the miner has not been twisted. I wound up replacing the internal connector ( 2 for $5.99 on Amazon) and it was solved.

I went with the 8dbi antenna from Rak and it works well for my area.
Make sure to get the RP-SMA version to match the Bobcat miner and get an N Type lightning arrestor such as:
Coaxial N Type Lightning Arrestor 0 to 6 GHz (N-Male/N-Female) 50ohm,Protects 3G, 4G, LTE,GPS, 2.4GHz /5GHz Wi-Fi, 900MHz, Ham Other Outside Antennas https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JY6TD2T/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_1YDPQW0A26MFB9WSP3DS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Befor replacing the SD-Card you should first reset/delete the Peer Book and all Blocks via the Dashboard. Then let it fast Sync to the latest Blockchain height and see if it fixes your problem.
If it doesn’t fix your problem then you need a new SD-Card. Try this one since it has the longest lifespan, and the more Space it has the longer it lives.

What is the original plug (EU)? If that’s the case, buy an EU/US to UK plug adaptor [EU/US to UK plug adaptor. Check this
In that case, I think you might have a problem with your antenna's pigtail cable. It's a pretty easy repair.
I am adaptor- challenged! So for $11, you get four different ones to make the connection work.

I second what u/JettWoo commented. I actually tried the reboot -> resync -> fast sync multiple times over a few days and literally nothing ever worked.
But what did work was reset miner. The tooltip/alt text they have for this option seems daunting - "it will erase all the software and you'll erase all blockchain data." At least I thought it was daunting as hell.
When you dive in a bit more and actually reference this post on Bobcat's website, you realize that the Bobcat is set up with a Docker image. If you're not familiar with what that is, you don't really have to know, but as a developer myself, docker containers are used daily in my world. So when I realized that, the 'reset' is something I do all the time with zero loss in data. So long story short, you just need to do the reset option, it'll take a bit, but then my miner re-synced and was ready to go within a couple of hours.
I'll start the conversation. I put this on my roof in AZ. I wasn't getting anything from the normal antenna in the house, but I only had it on the first floor. Put it up on the tippy top of the roof and it gave me .75 of a helium over 3 days. I'm happy. But I have another miner coming and need one for my house in Nebraska outside Lincoln. Have a 2 story there with a big flat roof section and no homeowners association so can put up my dream set up so if this isn't the best I should put up, maybe someone can help me too.

I can confirm this one works and only costs $7: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NRHNPUA
It is only half duplex (which is fine for a miner) but I am still able to get over 50mbps up/down.
It’s not the most cost effective: McDuory Adjustable Attic/Outdoor TV Antenna Aluminium Mounting Pole Universal Wall Mounts/Brackets (1 inch Diameter Mount Pole), 32.75 inches Arm Length, Easy Install, Solid Structure, Weather Proof https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CV33V51/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_P4EVDRSGMFQXCT2JR4EA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I was committed to the location and base, so I bought 4 more for the rod/connection.

If you just installed a new antenna you might’ve broken the pigtail in your miner. It’s an easy fix though. Buy this UFL to SMA Mini PCI U.FL to RP-SMA Female Ipex Connector Pigtail WiFi Antenna Extension Cable (6 inch (2 Pcs)) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T85B3LN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5JY9V2MCFQH7YETS991J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It should fix the problem.
Its not wired to the miner, its totally modular and can be easily removed if you wanted to sell your miner. The fan plugs directly to an outlet with its own separate plug. Its usefull to me as I get more than 50 witnesses in my area and I think Bobcat documentation mentions something like the only limit to how many witnesses you can have is the miner overheating. Ive got quite a lot going on here.
-8dbi Outdoor Rak Wireless Antenna
-Lightning arrestor
-5ft LMR 400 Cable
-Rak Wireless Outdoor Bobcat Enclosure
-PoE injectors (came with rak wireless enclosure)
-Outdoor Rated CAT6 cable
-Grounding wire
-Grounding Copper metal rod in the floor
-Outdoor mount on the roof
-Visited Home Depot to find the strongest and tallest PVC i could find that would fit in the outdoor mount.
-I am also working on further securing with Guy Wire and needed components there.
There are more little pieces that i needed, such as custom screw and bolt for custom holes i’ve drilled in the PVC. But thats the gist of it.
I didn’t order any specific bundle, but I’ve got a signal plus 5.8dbi marine antenna on the way..

Damn widows. You will gave to download, install, configure pip and go through hell.
If you use android you can just download this app:
Then you open up the app, press the 3 lines too left fkd more options, press terminal and then you install requests by typing:
pip install requests
Then be on the same network as miner and run script. Works like a charm here with my android phone.
Pretty simple. 4.5 dBi antenna: Paradar 868Mhz LoRa antenna, weatherproof for harsh outdoor environments, for HNT, LoRaWAN, amateur radio, and aviation - 4.5dBi https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08X2VYW7F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BPG3Z8GSGSZ2N46TZTGN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and a decent quality cable: N-Type to RP-SMA Male Extension Cable 3 Metre Lead Low Loss HDF400 Antenna WiFi Part No | XEX-3M-SMA-N-TY it probably needs some more tinkering to tune everything in, but so far it’s exceeded my expectations.
I got this last week LoRa Gateway 915MHz Antenna Outdoor 8dBi Fiberglass LoRaWAN Antenna for RAK HNT Bobcat Helium Hotspot Miner + 3.3ft N-Female to SMA-Male Extension Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095GNTV56/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YHGFD9QSHCC41N1G3JCB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and im making 2.5 hnt a day. So ya I think location is mire important than antenna
I bought an aftermarket antenna to help with this also, but didnt see any difference with it so I switched back to the stock antenna. Im not gonna claim to understand the differences in antenna… but this is what I bought

Instead of using wifi, I recommend buying a Wireless Bridge so you can keep your miner plugged in via ethernet. Example
Man I love your troubleshooting.. Where did you find the information for a metal baseplate? I have a bread pan ready to go like this one https://www.amazon.com/OvenStuff-Non-Stick-Square-Cake-Piece/dp/B001BCNTPY how did you put the antenna?
Did you put it inside the breadpan of did you flip it upside down and put your antenna on top of outside?
Channels? have a look on the play store you can get some WIFI tools that will show you what is your best frequency.
So you can't ping it at all when it's connected via wifi? what IP is it getting in diagnostics? or from your router?
you can get a free app on play or what ever and do a little scan showing you all the channels that are used.
I don’t have good data yet, weather is very different today than when I first identified the problem, so I am tracking it with the wifi thermometer I put in to build a data set.
While I am not enthused about the option because I like my box being fairly discrete, if this does not adequately reduce over all temps applying a radiant barrier like this to the out side of the box is the next step.
