Found the story here. I'm right off the Halsey J stop and heard the gunshots last night. Sounded like fireworks, but after the repetition and pattern I knew it had to be gun shots. Woke up this morning to my block all taped off, asked the guys at the deli and they confirmed it was a 'balacera'.

I would say the biggest thing that a lot of people mess up on is the wrap. I personally use heavy duty foil, wrapped tightly with some space above the meat. Folks either do it too early and it falls apart to easily, or wrap it too late and make it too dry. Also, while folks have their own rubs, and they add a lot to the flavor, you have to remember that this is a big piece of meat that and seasonings only coat the outside. Only desiccants, like sugar and salt, will penetrate below the surface.
Had this shit happen to me 3 times last fall. Ended up ordering this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LCKBGY8
Seems like it works as I haven't had any incidents since I got it though I can't say for sure it's not just coincidental.
broooo you are bad at technology
verify the connection is intermittent with a wired connection
pick up the phone and call them.
this isn't uncommon anywhere
Optimum does suck but they will come out
plus coax wired are spiderwebbed everywhere if you're living in a regular walk up. someone could have put a flower pot on the wire, or a rat bit it, or someone's hanging wind chimes off it. the wire going into my apartment was split half a dozen times over hundreds of feet of cable that crossed back and forth over the top and down the sides of half my block despite the distro block being 25 ft behind my place on an overhead data line.
once the signal strength is verified as consistent (they can check the history to make sure it's stable) you can bug them for a new modem.
also as with any cable internet company, it's a good idea to replace the shitty gateway they give you (which, btw is also transmitting an Optimum hotspot in addition to your wifi)
I got one of these modems used for $20, but $40 is a good price too
then hop on Craigslist or FB Marketplace and find a decent wifi router.
I had the same issues and went back and forth with Tech support. The problem is the device that they give for free is crap. It can barely keep signal.
I worked with their tech support to figure out which modem I could buy myself that worked the best. turns out its the "Netgear CM1000 v2."
I bought it on amazon.
Since then not only has my internet never dropped signal once, but is exceptionally faster.

The difference is night and day
I live in Bushwick Knickerbocker & Jefferson st area & have Optimum.
I've had good results controlling the mosquitos with Mosquito Bits. It's ground up corncobs inoculated with BTI bacterium, which produces spores that produce toxins that only affect the larvae of mosquitoes, blackfly, and fungus gnat.
Basically, sprinkle them in any standing water (including puddles), and it kills the larvae. Start in early spring when they're just starting to lay their eggs, and you can cut off the year's mosquito population before it starts. And it doesn't harm bees or butterflies.
It won't get rid of all the mosquitoes. If nothing else, there's not much you can do about standing water in your neighbor's yard. But it has cut the mosquitoes in our yard down from a hellish swarm that would leave you with bites on your eyelids if you went out for 20 minutes, so a mild annoyance.
I also wonder why people lock-up their bikes outside. However, you should def look into getting this bike rack
I got it and really saves a lot of space.
