You are literally trying to overrule my opinion with your own, so I'm not sure why you're throwing stones, but okay.

I'm sure there are people who enjoyed it. I don't doubt that you are one of them. But the consensus opinion is that the remake is a middling affair that is nowhere near as good as the original. In talking to other fans of the original, I have found a great many more who were frustrated by watching the remake than those who enjoyed it. All I sought was to provide a counterweight to your suggestion that he should watch the remake and give my own opinion having been in the position he would likely find himself in after watching the original and knowing that a remake exists. I can't force him to not watch it, nor would I try to if I could. But I would discourage him from watching it and put up as many warning signs as I can so he knows what he's getting into, assuming his tastes veer closer to the consensus than the minority. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How to find the easter egg, by the way (this is the DVD version I own; I'm not certain it works on other DVD releases of this film):

From the Main Menu, go to the "Extras" menu. Go to the bottom until the "Main Menu" choice is highlighted, but instead of selecting it you should move the cursor to the right. A yellow circle will appear above-and-to-the-right, directly across from the next-to-last choice, "Talent Bios". Press "Enter" on your remote and the yellow circle will become an opening eye, and then you will be treated to some cut scenes from the film. They are in Full Frame, and have no audio, but feature some additional nudity for co-star Tanya Roberts, not seen in the final cut.
