I'm sorry, but why did an indie developer with MAYBE 5,000 subs require a CFO?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the ground level QA and developers would have been part of it. I'm just saying that after hearing how disconnected from the game their CEO is, and looking him up on LinkedIN and seeing all their non-development staff, it really makes you wonder if maybe it the reason it seemed like AV didn't give a damn about the health of the game was for a more sinister reason...
You are such a DFO primadonna. DFO before its demise only had 1500 subs. Just because you meet a bunch during the last free months means nothing. Yeah, you wasted 2 years of your life in a empty wasteland. Truth is it didn't had to pop for NME to zerg.
RoA only had 50 people online the other day. This is after a huge free trial. Come up with all your excuses you want. That is just one typical server in Rust/ARK which are both Early Access lol. DFO died long time ago. We now have 2 more proof as to why.
One of my clan members was hacked and his bank/the shit in our clan bank was stolen.
He had been pwned on at least 3 occasions. If they have your email, it's pretty easy to recover your account password afterwards.
I've had a change of heart. Post more frequently so I have something to laugh about at work.
Edit: My bad I completely forgot you have the mental capacity of a sloth.
>"Dude, Mortal Online used Unreal and it was a POS."
Implying cause MO is shitty, that the engine must be too!
>"I dont know shit about making games to know if it's Unreal or poor coding by the MO staff."
If you don't know shit, why would you bother making a statement like the above?
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that MO's shortcomings doesn't really have anything to do with the engine as they also have the ability to extend the engine.
Well there's also the possibility that your "player experience" is extremely limited and if so -> http://tera.enmasse.com/ uses the Unreal 3 engine.
See how I look at multiple possiblities, but your mind can see only 1 track? Just want to make sure you know that when I say you have the mental capacity of a sloth, I'm telling the truth.
Got mine from the main website: http://curl.haxx.se/latest.cgi?curl=win64-ssl-sspi
Also, since there's no real easy way to delay execution in a batch script, the pings you were seeing are just my way of pausing for 30 seconds. They should be there.
You guys should consider setting up a Patreon for this EMU (Dunno if it's allowed for something like this), but the idea is that people choose to donate you an amount of their choice every month just to support your creation.
I'm actually finding some nice success recently on it with my own projects and it's growing nicely. I bet you'd have people really supporting you! If I was to play on an EMU server, the most important thing would be knowing that it will survive and never be in any financial jeopardy.
Check it out: https://www.patreon.com/ (Perhaps you already have some better financial ideas though)
What are your credentials or experience? Resume? What experience do you have running a company? Track record? Why as a potential volunteer should I help you?
" There are a ton of variables and this project is in it's infancy." ...Infancy? You do know you have to fuck before making a baby. You haven't even planted the seed. You've just yelled to your friends drunkenly "Im gonna try and get laid tonight guys!"
Only thing I found for you on LinkedIn is this: https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=430311866&authType=NAME_SEARCH&authToken=LYGI&locale=en_US&srchid=734857321435958051825&srchindex=1&srchtotal=1&trk=vsrp_people_res_name&trkInfo=VSRPsearchId%3A73485732143595...
Much fail
Mmm, you can't port DF1 combat over UW for a simple reason written also in the letter of the CEO Zad if you think about it.
DF1 has a real time combat with vector collisions, this combat require a large amount of resources and a powerfull hardware to run. I remember tasos said that they had at launch 100 ibm spade cpus ready or something like that, the most advanced configuration from that time, and now i believe this after reading an old interview where Razorwax developers spoken about their innovative cluster technology. This a part of the interview: http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?gameId=4&setView=features&loadFeature=408&fp=1280,1024,790562656,20060127030206
So, to decrease the cost of the infrastructure UW was watered down and changed the core combat to be less bandwidth and memory demanding (cones, large spash aoes, small map and so on).
There is no way to have the same feeling of the Darkfall combat with the actual infrastructure and how the code server/client was written.
So the reason Unholy Wars is a watered version of DF1 and can never be the same is easy to understand: 1) development cost and maintenance, since UW have a low population and failed, Zad want to reduce at minimun the cost of development (with lowcost and underpayed devs) and hardware 2) appealing to a large audience since is less hardcore and more easy.
But even if i can't blame Zad for this from a business standpoint the fault was and still Aventurine as a whole, they don't listen to their own playerbase, they made poor choices nobody asked or wanted, constant lies, they didn't care at all to improve the game and so on, already everyone know this. Aventurine is the worst publisher ever meet as a gamer in the last 10 years.
To save Darkfall there is only a way: a new company with a good development and support team that is open minded and listen head to head to their own customers.
Someone linked me this thread about Claus streaming while drunk a couple years back. Anyone remember this?
> Get the old code obfuscation to work and improve upon it. This will be the first baby step of our ongoing anti cheat plan.
Obfuscation does nothing to prevent hacking. Back when DFO launched there were no java deobfuscator's. Now they are available for free, online. https://sourceforge.net/projects/jdo/ . Obfuscation caused some headaches for cheat devs and some script kiddies, but still ended up being easy to bypass for any programmer worth a shit.
Stop using outdated anti cheat tech. Obfuscation does nothing but cause headaches. Just license a rootkit anticheat.
The darkfallonline.com domain was registered by a "Perfect Privacy LLC" in Florida. According to http://perfectprivacy.com, which is registered to the same company, they provide "private domain registrations". Presumably they buy the domain for you, so your name doesn't go on the registrar. So I'm inclined to go with troll. If AV had done it, they would have just renewed in their name.
