What is going on with dvz? Well mostly people are hyped about the summer update, you can read more about it on the trello. Other than that I don't really know what's going on with DvZ. And people give others Super Jimmy to be nice I guess :)
It's been received/found by Nisovin here so now all you can do is wait :P
Maybe it'll get playtested soon, maybe there's reasons it won't be accepted, but you should find out from that page :)
You get 4500 gold per week and 12 gold per minute in game
Does not matter how "well" you do, its purely base on time in game.
My only reason for avoiding Plains more than other maps right now is that every Plains game I've been in has been incredibly long. I wouldn't say it's any more or less fun than any other map, just I don't have a very accommodating attention span for long games like that and I don't like to leave games early if I can help it.
I disagree that it should be removed immediately though. The map rotation will already be changing in the not-too-distant future with the Crassel update so Plains is in theory due to be removed anyway. Perhaps the server would benefit if the odds of Plains coming up were reduced a la Satellite Outpost, but really... there have been people begging for BYOK to come back since the Gym closed. Now the moment a BYOK map is added back into rotation we have people shouting for its removal.
This happens with absolutely every feature/map in DvZ, as soon as something is taken away people never stop talking about it. I have a feeling lots of this is really just faux hipsterism, talking about old features is an easy way to display to Jimmy that you've been playing DvZ longer than them and thus are obviously better in every way, but when we do get something old back at least try to enjoy it while it lasts! If/when Plains is removed, it won't be long before more people start saying they want BYOK maps back.
It should at least be kept until the update is finished and the paywall is removed, so it can be given a fair chance in a proper version of the game, and so that non-Super Jimmies can have the opportunity to complain about what a horrifically boring map it is.
Not gonna lie, while I enjoy the nostalgia trip of Tree and Grapevine returning, I had hoped for more new maps.
Unless of course, these older maps are just temporary placeholders until Nis and Rob have tested more maps.
Edit: Additional notes.
Firstly, people are pricks when it comes to Fire Skelly, that is why I love being them, just to piss people off.
Second, nope, it has not been fixed, You can check bugs here
Thirdly, Fire Skelly is pretty good through the game, at the end game because you are setting pretty much all dwarves on fire from a single volley, they will get through their mana quicker while being swarmed by AIs. It is the same with wither except without the volley lol.
For maps what you want to do is compose an Album of screenshots of different areas of the map. Then make a Reddit Thread consisting of a Download for your map, the album, and general information of the map (e.g. number of shrines, run time between shrines, how much gold ore there is, how much gravel there is...etc.) The community will offer feedback on the map and you are free to act upon that as you chose. If you decided to make changes then at a future date create a new thread with a new download and a new album (you could update the existing one with the changes you've made) and the process repeats until you are completely satisfied. The maps are reviewed my Nisovin, he typically doesn't take the first version of the map and waits for changes from the community if there are any. If he likes the map he'll add it to the Trello where he'll review the map himself and suggest changes if they're needed and if not sort it into a relevant category.
Since they don't really seem to be using it anymore (I know there's like a .something% chance still), I'll go ahead and give you the download. However if you end up using this map for any purposes other than dvz (even if edited), I would like to be informed.
The DvZ Trello mentions 'Goblin Horde' as a potential monster hero event: https://trello.com/c/fJoYNfWO/95-summer-update-todo So quite possible!
I think unlimited boom boxes would be unlikely though, the Bopen skeletons had their buffs nerfed to prevent them lasting too long after the event.
Creepers are being nerfed: https://trello.com/c/pHKygGdh/41-monster-revamp
I think that creeper squads make the game a lot less fun as a dwarf because it becomes extremely hard to roll a proc while your being blasted in 30 different directions
I can't imagine a way to do an (automated) earthquake in Minecraft, at least in a setting like DvZ, that would feel real. You can damage walls, play rumbling noises, create landslides etc but it won't feel like the earth is shaking.
Firestorm is still listed as a new plague event, though that's been there since the server move.
There's always the tornado, which never goes wrong... https://youtu.be/XoVYirOlzsA?t=12m14s
with at least 30+ people also searching to be a hero there can be quite some time before you become a hero. (take for example rolling a 40 sided die and rolling a 40 on it. That's about your chances)
the chance for getting a hero increases through as you play. (recent update on trello) So keep playing games and that roll of a dice might end up being something more like a d-20!
Also if you play in larger games. (i.e full games of 50.) then three hero's are chosen. So you really get to roll those dice 3 times!
So just play away! It will happen eventually.
Download an external program that does everything for you then.
I suggest ShareX. A very powerfuly tool.
An easier but not as powerful tool is Gyazo. I know a lot of people that it works wonders for.
Both these tools let use use a combo of keys (ex. Ctrl+Shift+2) and it instantly takes a photo of your window, uploads it, and copies the link to your clipboad. So all you need to do it press the keycombo, and paste your link somewhere. Its very easy to do, takes less time than taking a photo with your phone, and is much less annoying for thoes looking at your screens.
Probably referring to the recent changes which include bow damage being affected by draw (like vanilla). It affects all bows but it's most noticeable with wither skeletons.
I posted most of the information within the Imgur Album but I will repeat the Key stuff here for convenience sake.
Astral Isles is 3 Shrine DvZ Map themed around Nisovin and featuring Gnomic design. It uses a custom texture pack to compliment its design with most retextures having been created for aesthetics.
Run Times:
Mob Spawn to First Shrine: ~26 Seconds
First to Suggested Second: 30 Seconds
First to Alternate Second Shrine: 40 Seconds
Suggested Second to Final Shrine: 51 Seconds
Alternate Second to Final: ~46 Seconds
The run to final is quite long hence why I have proposed two positions for the Second Shrine. As the route to Final is mostly vertical these times can be greatly reduced by mobs with the correct application of vines. Final also has two pathways for its entire duration and varies in its defendability for Dwarves, this should help to ease the length of the run.
The Quarry holds around 60,000 Gravel and around 1,000 Gold Ore, to compensate for the gold is the proposed Midas Machine which is explained in a Book within the map.
The lumber is limited to the Lumber Island.
I have made a simple custom lobby, mainly because the aesthetic of the map didn't allow for the default lobby to work effectively. It contains Jump Pads which ideally need to be implemented into the map to help Mobs with the progression to First, their inclusion in the lobby is to allow new players to get used to them before hand.

All comments are appreciated and I am looking for suggestions for Shrine names.
Its the first post on the subreddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/DvZ/comments/4efkrc/dvz_hero_update_new_subreddit_rule/?ref=share&ref_source=link
But also the trello keeps a decent enough log of changes. https://trello.com/b/L2oswr2q/dwarves-vs-zombies
Weird... Perhaps Rob and Nis are under "secret" progression for the game now?
I just checked on my trello.. It is still open!
~~I'm struggling to find any PR about this change. Was it talked about directly in game or something?~~
EDIT: Niso created a "somewhat" full trello card. It doesn't talk about not being able to repair with a stack of gold though and sounds like it implies that normal repairing will not have a cd at the moment.
Yeah it's been implemented now :D and some other changes are listed here. Time will tell if this helps to balance the game out more, but from what I've seen there's some pretty good changes.
The titles will be linked to patron/non-patron, if you are patron you get a fancy title.
The new titles, according to this page on Trello are:
Paladin
Ranger
Gravedigger
Mason
Bruce Junior
Ancient
I've made the requested changes to the map. From what I've tested the runtime averages out at around 35 seconds from the Second Shrine to Final. I've left signs/notes about the map for just key information that I felt may be necessary.
Here is a new download, it includes both the map and the Resource pack: https://www.mediafire.com/?tse3j3ocomsevde
If you don't feel like spending any money on a recording software I recommend OBS. Fraps really isn't any better the way I see it. OBS might be slightly harder to run because it compresses the file for you as it records, but at least you'll avoid those 100 GB avi files Fraps might give you :P Also, completely free
Okay, I've tested this version of the file with a texture the same size as yours and it seems to work just fine. If you intend to re-texture the Oil, I'd suggest using this file and renaming it as such. It doesn't require the frame size or the number of frames to be specified. https://www.mediafire.com/?oqsuqbiwi79615w
We did have a FAQ previously but it wasn't too useful as most people who play dvz don't go to this reddit or the wiki, which is currently a WIP. Also you could add the trello link, for more answers on new maps, they were originally meant to be released monthly but urealms occupied him so dvz had to wait. They'll be released in batches with the extra maps coming in(as far as we know) one by one.
P.S Your formatting is really good for your first post :P
While all good ideas, I wouldn't expect them to be implemented for quite some time. There are new heros on the trello here but are a low priority. So until those are finished and implemented, Its reasonable to think this idea won't even be touched.
Most old maps will need to be redone to fit the new gold, armor and general playstyle of new DvZ. You can also check the trello for maps that will be added to the lineup in the future here.
Edit 1: Formatting and spelling.
Not to be rude but, the current system allows players who haven't been hero in their 'recent' games have a greater chance of becoming hero, so as for the part of the post about repeat heroes, I'd say no point in arguing over it anymore.
