This one?
I have kind of wavy hair that can be crazy curly sometimes, particularly if I sleep on it wet. Is yours naturally curly like that, or does the product really emphasize it?
Last couple of suggestions. 1) You could try combing it. Lol. 2) You could get some leave-in conditioner, it will help manage it and make you like it more during the times when you're unhappy. I got this stuff off Amazon and I love it.
Also practice TKD, but mostly play basketball. Buy a pack of those Nike headbands from like Dick's Sporting Goods or Amazon. They work well for me. Idk how long your hair really is, but headbands and ties are going to get loose. It happens. Get through a set or two and fix your hair if you have to. Its just something that happens. It becomes much more manageable once its ~shoulder length.
I have pretty much the same hair as you, very curly but loose coils and medium thick hair. I use this one every day and it's worked great so far
Aside from all it's supposed benefits, blah blah etc. etc., it kind of weighs down your curls so it doesn't look like curly cloud of Afro on your head, and it has a weak hold so it's good for styling too. I get out of the shower, apply it to all my hair while it's wet, and let it air dry.
Ends up looking like this (I don't have any good pictures of myself, excuse the stupid face). I go for a messy look, so I dont apply any more products and just let it do it's thing.
My advice is just my opinion and based off what I do to make my thick wavy hair look good.
Buy a shower filter Makes a slight difference in water quality and I’ve noticed for sure helps my hair not be so puffy and broken.
Quit combing and brushing your hair. You’re killing your natural curl pattern like that. Stick to fingers and only fucking w it at the root.
I use conditioner literally every time I shower on my ends. I use Shea moisture strengthen n restore conditioner. I have more of a problem with dry hair and scalp and this helps. I only use the Shea moisture shampoo every maybe four or so days when I feel like I need it.
I use Shea moisture strengthen n restore leave in conditioner like 15min after getting out of the shower every time I shower and I just lift my ends with it with a gentle scrunch and kind of pat the sides and top w it being careful to cause loose strands.
I use Shea moisture 100% pure Argan oil after w the same lifting ends and patting method.
After I do that I let my hair air dry and just go about my day and it’s on god mode every fucking day. Im a bartender at an outdoor bar in humid ass Austin tx and it still looks fire even after an entire 8hrs of getting drunk and flirting with chicks haha. I’m not a hair stylist or anything so I’m not sure if this will work for you but you can get all these products at target, the ingredients list seems to be clean as FUCK. And I’ve tried a bunch of different shit and this routine seems to be a fucking KEEPER for my hair. Some people say that might be too much conditioner but I’ve never had healthier, cleaner hair than I do now. Cheers man.
I know this is a super old post but I found the exact same headband here: Casualbox mens Japanese Elastic Cotton Spandex Headband Neck Warmer CharcoalGray https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003XTAVSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_qFSxub0V7Y7S3
I've been using this one from Amazon for 3 years now. Has worked well with detangling and I have thick hair.
I have short hair but maybe someone with long hair can confirm:
I use Ruezel Hair Tonic to stop my hair being frizzy and dry:
Reuzel - Grooming Tonic - Quintessential Blow Dry Tonic - Creates Long Lasting Natural Feeling Hold for All Hair Types - Adds Shine - 11.83 oz/350 ml https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019624D4Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_WH64PFXP01FZ5C3PZ2C5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I don’t workout often and the water doesn’t effect anyone else’s hair. My hair is weird the exfoliate helps with the build up and I use something else for dandruff but it’s still oily. I’ve been considering using a regular shampoo and getting one of these https://www.amazon.com/Scalp-Massager-Shampoo-Brush-MAXSOFT/dp/B074ZDXFL6/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=scalp+cleanser&qid=1614057320&sr=8-5
Looking great! If I can make a recommendation, try out one of these hair bands: [Amazon link]. You generally would want to avoid tying up your hair until it is completely dry, as this can damage hair. However, a hair band will pull your hair back and it won't "poof" up as much :D
I'd also recommend putting just a dab of argon oil in your hair as it's drying. It will help fortify it against the elements and keep it flexible - really important if you live in a cold climate!
Your left-photo hair is how my hair looks like on a daily basis; curly/wavy hair roughly the same length, and just as dry!
I'd love for my hair to look like the photo on the right! I didn't even know it was possible to get it to look like that. So from what you posted, I should co-wash my hair twice a month and let it dry before going to sleep (I read that cold drying it helps in a pinch if you need to get your hair dry fast, what do you think about that?) How often do you wet/wash your hair with water when you're taking a shower?
I just ordered some 100% natural argan oil from Amazon; I'm hoping to get the results you get from using it. I currently use almond oil on my hair and it feels heavy and greasy whenever I use it, on top of not getting my hair to style correctly.
For argan oil use, you say to use a small bit at first, but then you say you use more argan oil than you do coconut oil, so it confuses me. I'm assuming I'm supposed to use little amounts of the argan oil and increase until I get the perfect amount of moisture in my hair?
I was actually diagnosed with having seborrheic dermatitis and was told it doesn't go away; that feel when dandruff for life :( I've been using a medicated head and shoulders shampoo to fight the dandruff, and it has really worked for me, but at the cost of extremely drying my hair and scalp. (link to shampoo https://www.amazon.com/Head-Shoulders-Clinical-Seborrheic-Dermatitis/dp/B0043OSIVM/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1478375434&sr=8-1&keywords=head+and+shoulders+medicated)
nope i use mini jaw clips. usually 2 in between hair washes. I shampoo and condition about 3 times a week and use a hair dryer for about a minute.
the below towel also works well for drying fast.
https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Fine-Microfiber-Hair-Towel-Wrap/dp/B079P9CK2H/
I have a cheap one, and your hair is way tougher than you think. You just need a product that will disperse the heat so that one part doesnt get too hot. The only thing you have to protect is the ends. So keep it moving, hold it closed very very hard, only use it with product and don't spend as much time on the ends as the rest.
Products: argan oil or Garnier fructis smooth blow-dry.
Straightener: HSI
Hey, sometimes there is just no real good way to get rid of dandruff, its just natural for some people. Ton of things you can try, but everything works different for everyone. I always have dandruff, but the only times that I flake noticeably (that myself notice) is if I don't shower for 3+ days. I always flake more in the winter as well.
Don't avoid warm showers, cold showers work great for people who do not have dander issues, but if you do, the only real thing that loosens the dead skin effectively is warm water. I use Jack Black All-Over Wash daily in the shower as a body and face wash, and use it weekly as a shampoo, the brand isn't as important as long as you are avoiding the harmful chemicals (not just for your hair, but your scalp as well). For conditioner I just use normal old Pantene. I used to use Mane and Tail, but it just felt like it wasn't 'oily' enough, and my hair would end up dry.
When I shampoo, I first scrub really well with my shampoo, I DO NOT rinse it out, then I massage conditioner into my scalp and the rest of my hair, then rinse. Afterwards I condition 2 more times. The first time I rinse with warm water, then the second time at the end of my shower, I rinse with cold water. Its important to really massage your scalp.
Lastly, I do this after every shower, with wet hair, I use https://www.amazon.com/Vaseline-Healing-Moisture-Lotion-Strength/dp/B001ET2YUK by massaging it directly onto my scalp. Works only when the hair is wet, because when its dry, I can't manage to work it into my scalp before my hair soaks it up. You don't need a ton, just make sure you have enough on your finger tips and work between your hair onto your scalp.
You can probably work with a different lotion, I just use this one out of convenience because I use it for my face and body.
I have really thick, shoulder blade length, black wavy hair, for reference.
Oh yeah, for the price there's next to nothing that beats the Moto G! I've got the 1st gen Moto X and, even with 16Gb, I run out of storage all the time. Must be tough with only 8. Family pics and videos take up lots of space when you have kids, haha! Google Photos backup is a lifesaver, I use it all the time.
Something that may help is CCleaner. It's kind of a last resort, but if you're installing and uninstalling apps as you need them it's probably worth having. If you are getting a bunch of insufficient storage messages you can use it to clear out a nice chunk of storage for you. It'll do things like clear out extra App caches, which normally take up a few hundred megs. They'll get built back up over time, but you can run it occasionally to keep a bit of extra space. Plus CCleaner is a reputable application from the PC side of things, and it only takes up about 5-6 megs installed. Might be worth a try!
Edit: Clarity.
a small bottle of it here in Germany costs like 2$. i cant imagine it being that expensive in the US. quick search spit this for me on amazon.
i dont know what that hyaluronic acid-based shampoo is for. are u not using conditioner? are you using the anti-dandruff shampoo before or after the other one?
I use this set
https://www.amazon.com/Shea-Moisture-Coconut-Hibiscus-Combination/dp/B00LS2BZ6M
Then dry it with a diffuser and if i want to avoid frizz longer i use vital care mega hold all day power gel from walmart (not alot so it doesn’t affect volume as much)
A hair band, either elastic or one of those zig-zag plastic ones will help with the short hairs that want to pop out around the nape of your neck, behind the ears, and around the face. Tou might be able to French/Dutch braid it close to your head. If it’s still a bit short, you should still be able to get most of it if parting it down the middle and do two braids. There’s tons of YouTube tutorials if this isn’t something you know how to do. There’s also a way to fake a French braid with a series of small ponytails pulled through one another. That would be pretty secure, but the little elastics you need to do that might damage your hair. To keep everything looking clean, a cap like this one will cover up whatever you’ve got going on to keep everything controlled, and also prevent it from coming loose during the day. Hope that helps!
I wear one of these.

Its the thick black one in this link
At Costco, they sell bottles of around 250 for that price. Not quite a year, but yeah, at good ol' Costco.
EDIT: Found it. Cheaper when you get it in-store, though. http://www.costco.com/Natrol%C2%AE-Biotin-5,000-mcg,-250-Fast-Dissolve-Tablets.product.100085952.html?bvstate=pg%3A2%2Fct%3Ar
I just posted my technique, but yours is similar enough that you can disregard my post. I will say, though, that one time I found a conditioner that had both Argan oil and Moringa oil, and it was the truth (but pricey)!
After you shower, use a towel to get the dripping wetness dried, but then put about two to three tablespoons of a conditioner with “Argan Oil” in your hair, then work it through with your fingers, and let it air dry. Thank me later. 😉
By the way I use Renpure and it works great!
On a normal day -> Amazon special leave-in
When it’s drying out -> Amazon special argan oil
When it’s real crispy -> Coconut oil from the grocery store
I also refuse to use any product with silicone in it. Silicone makes it shinier and smoother for a day or so, then it gets greasy and wiry because it doesn’t let the oil in. If you leave it for too long it’ll dry out the hair for the same reason. No bueno.
If your routine isn't working, I'd drop the homemade treatments and your conditioner. Go look at the store for moisturizing conditioners and shampoos, use the shampoo about once a week, conditioner every day or every other day depending on your hair type. I use conditioner every day and my hair is really soft and shiny, but that may not work for you. My favorite shampoo and conditioner line is the Organix line, I really recommend the renewing Moroccan Argan oil shampoo and conditioners (I'll link to the conditioner below). They have other types that you can use if those don't get the results you want, I recently changed my conditioner to their bamboo conditioner to thicken up my hair and I really love the results. I'd even recommend buying a boar bristle brush, they can make your hair smooth and shiny (make sure you buy one that says 100% boar bristle, or pure boar bristles. Some brands sell boar bristle brushes that have only like 1% of the brush being boar bristles)
tl;dr - drop the routine you have now, go to the store and look for some new shampoo and conditioner. Buy a pure boar bristle brush while you're at it.
I think the difference it makes is marginal tbh but some swear by certain products. I’ve consistently used suave essentials conditioner and have used several different shampoos, nothing fancy just whatever I could get my hands on. I know there are a lot of recommendations on Reddit however
Another pro tip, I make sure not to shampoo within a day or two of a big event/outing. My hair is thick af and needs a day or two’s worth of natural oil to look soft and silky, shampoo dries it out just a bit much. Just water in the shower on those days
Get a root volumizing spray, like this one I have had personal success with. It thickens the roots enough to give you some great bounce. Costco usually has it, and it's a lot cheaper than the $40 price on Amazon. I think I picked it up for $23 or so.
Also, if you're blow drying, do it upside down.
Dude, now that's a majestic lions mane! It's gonna look fantastic!
When my hair was going thru that awkward stage, of too long to stay down, and too short to tie up, I would...
1) wash and condition. 2) blot dry with a towel. 3) use EXTREME hold, hair gel, and slick it back... specifically "Moco de Gorilla", or Gorilla snot. NOT GORILLA GLUE, I REPEAT NOT GORILLA GLUE. Something with the strength to make spikes if you will. (wax/mud/pomade/fiber only give it texture, and not hold) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001GED0AG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_9NXQYE1A7893518YSJRQ
4) then GENTLE blow dry to set in place just a little. 5) then use a bit of extra hold hair spray, to really set. 6) gentle blow dry again, for a few minutes longer, to "secure".
Disclaimer, it's makes it crunchy when it dries, but it definitely stays down, and once completely dry, straight as a mother.
I know it may seem like a lot of work/steps, but once you get it down, it'll take 5-10 min tops, and it's a great way to "hide the mop", like I used to call mine... 😂
Also a bit of a helmet head, but since you already rock the slicked back look after a shower, I figured you'd rock this too.
Good luck...and keep growing.
i have the same hair type i use this leave in conditioner https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002FJ11UW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and then some moroccan oil and my hair stays a lot more tame and easier to style though i'm only at the 6th month mark lol
Thanks! No hair product used. I have a routine which is washing my hair with this shampoo and conditioner once a week and brushing it once a day. I'm also experimenting with this dry in conditioner since my friend gave it to me.
Right on bud. Best of luck, and don't cut it! FWIW, due to my natural curls and waves, I use one spray of this in my palms, working into my hair after each shower. That's about all the hair care I do
If you're having issues getting through your thick hair to properly clean your scalp I would look into getting something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Scalp-Massager-Shampoo-Brush-MAXSOFT/dp/B074ZDXFL6
If you can, a dermatologist is always the best person to see for issues like these. If you're not able to properly clean your scalp it could be irritated and cause build up. Or worse, fungi could form on your skin. But I'm making guesses here, I'm not a professional. Def seek out a dermatologist.
The solution for me as someone with thick 2a hair, specifically to eliminate frizz, has been leaving some conditioner in my hair after rinsing followed by 8-9 drops of argan oil that I scrunch throughout my hair.
I find I get best results washing my hair every 2 up to 3 days and am able to get away without using any product on off days except for maybe smoothing in 1 drop of argan oil if I need to. Argan oil is lightweight, doesn't cause acne, and I've found that it adds some shine while making my hair smooth and flowy.
So my recommendation would be to try argan oil but try to find culinary argan oil instead of overpaying for the same thing marketed for cosmetic use. It's worth noting that the quality standards for consumption are stricter than for topical use (which usually include meaningless terms like "cosmetic grade") but you pay much less. Win win. Look for cold/expeller pressed.
I went to check my shampoo and conditioner and found "sodium laureth sulfate" and "sodium lauryl sulfate" in the inactive ingredients list for the shampoo but no silicons in the conditioner. However, I use head and shoulders dry scalp care 2-in-1 shampoo cuz I get dandruff. Is there a better dandruff shampoo that wouldn't have any sulfates? Also, I've been using suave coconut oil infusion damage repair conditioner. Is that a good conditioner or is there a better one?
Also, I usually wash every 2-3 days and mostly let it air dry. I do a bit of towel drying but not much. Should I cut out the towel drying entirely? I try not to rub it very much, I just kinda pat and squeeze my hair. And I looked up Denman Brush and found this one. Does this seem like a good choice?
This was definitely very helpful and that's why I'm asking so many questions. I didn't really care about how it looked for a while but I'd like to learn more about how to take care of my hair. Thank you for all the advice
Is this the same thing you're using? I'm about to give it a try.
Dont do it! You're almost there. I can see glimpses of the greatness that's about to come and damn does it look good.
Something fun you can experiment with in the meanwhile if you wanna pull attention away from your hair during this growth phase is dying your eyebrows. With a darker brow, attention will be pulled away from your hair and redirected to your eyes.
A (brow dyeing kit)[https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AS45LC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1EBUDbE1KHSE1] $20 on Amazon and takes 15 kins tops. Super easy and wears off after a few weeks if you dont like it.
Ps. I love your eyebrow color as is, this suggestion is just for the interim phase.
I saw your other post, where you asked about getting a perm. I have straight hair as well, but 10 minutes with a styling wand can do wonders.
A tapered wand like this (that goes from 1 inch to 1/2 inch) works well for tighter curls. They also sell a version that tapers from 1.5 inches to 1 inch if you want looser curls, or if your hair is too long for the smaller size.
find a hair catcher. they have all sorts, but a plain simple one like below is the best.
Like this:
easy to just wipe off the hair. clean it once in a while though, it'll get gunky (like they all do, a stainless steel type is much easier to clean and keep clear of hair) I found the plastics kind stain and are hard to keep from getting slimy.
I am actually already using a silicon and paraben free shampoo and conditioner I think it's just because my hair is so thick it tends to get tangled and knotty. I also have to wet it every day because I get atrocious bed hair and it is impossible to style or manage, unless I get it wet and start from the beginning
It looks like it to me. The crown is a common spot for it to start. Do any of your male blood relations have male pattern baldness? That can be a good indicator. If it were me, I'd take regular photos so that you can keep track of any thinning and know for sure.
Even if you're not sure, I'd get a cleansing shampoo (I alternate between Nioxin and Regenepure) and use them once or twice a week to make sure your scalp is clear of any residue and gunk. I've had good luck with this as my scalp produces a good amount of sebum which can block follicles from growing. Regenepure helps with DHT which can cause baldness.
Supplements like Biotin and Pumpkin Seed oil can aid hair growth. Eating well, exercising, not stressing, and getting enough sleep also helps.
If you find that you are losing hair, you essentially have a couple of main options - finasteride and minoxidil (Rogaine or a generic version). You can find lots about them here.
Some people are worried about the side effects of taking Fin orally but there are topical versions (more expensive) that seem to work about the same. Min can be greasy but there is a non-greasy version out there.
I've also used a DHT blocking spray from NutraM on Amazon and I can't tell if it helps or not yet.
You can also use a dermapen on your scalp. It works best in conjunction with Min (though you don't use Min up to 24 hours after you use the pen). Essentially, it pokes a lot of tiny holes in your scalp which can stimulate hair growth. I do it once a week and I think it makes a big difference.
Hope that's helpful in some way. You seem like a young guy so, if you do have an issue, hop on it as soon as you know you have a problem. The longer you wait, the worse the issue becomes and the more difficult to recover what you've lost.
I believe this is the one we have, but really any of them with a decent review would be good. If you’re spending less than $10 or more than $50, you’re getting the wrong product.
Small amount of mate pomade should do the job. I'm using this one Uppercut which smells like tiramisu :-)
If that's not enough you can use hairspray. Or just wear a hat.
Pantene Pro-V smoothing comb-in treatement But I don't use a comb, just my fingertips and mostly on the ends, I hardly put any on the rest of my hair. I have a really old bottle because I use just a little, so they may have changed the formula since I purchased. It looks different now on Amazon, but the basic premise is the same.
You can try this. My boyfriends mother is korean and senda us a bunch of korean hair products. And this stuff makes your hair silky and shiny. Saved my hair while growing it out. Started with a mohawl and ive managed to keep my hair full of moisture with it. Perks of having a korean bf haha www.amazon.com/Avenue-Chiett-Vitamin-Care-Therapy/dp/B079P68Q1J
Just a lady lurker here. I use Acure Organics, Moroccan, Argan Oil Treatment, All Skin Types, 1 fl oz (30 ml) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0187026O2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_GDXkBb79GF9BF (apologies for mobile) for my very processed hair and I love it. It’s also great for the skin as it was recommended to me by my esthetician sister. Hope this helps!!
Oh, you've got a bottle with a pump on it? Any idea how much is in each pump?
I've got this bottle and it's just got the little dropper on it.
Either way, 2 pumps sounds like more than "a few drops" which is what most of the instructions I've read online say. A few drops just seems like so little...
Thank you, I appreciate that! I'm probably not the best for conditioner recommendations, I have a pretty simple/cheap routine. I just use Pantene for a conditioner. I really didn't do much research in picking it out but it's worked for me. I condition every day regardless of shampoo, directions on the bottle are, "Massage into wet hair after shampooing, paying special attention to ends." I'll try to let it sit in my hair for a couple minutes as I soap before rinsing it out.
Awkward phases are typically just your hair growing out of its previous cut/style and being in-between places. For me, there was a little while people told me I looked like I had a mullet, so it could be worth it to get the sides/back cut if that becomes the case so it grows into the right style. I don't think you should have to worry about it for another number of months though, and even then, who knows! Definitely make another post if you start worrying or at the least to update us! Hope you have a good one!
Edit: Just wanted to add a side note that Pantene smells a bit feminine, as I'm not sure it's necessarily made for men, but I personally like the scent/have been complimented on it
Curly hair generally takes a longer time to look longer and flowy so I wouldn't worry about it, just keep persevering. I've found Biotin to be a good supplement to increase growth, this is the one I take
(lady here)
I have curls/waves too and frizz. the things to remember is that Conditioner is just hair lotion. You will need a specific product that will help with the dead skin at the roots or you will have that musky kinda scent with you.
I would suggest more of a deep conditioning treatment than cowashing. It's worked better for me. Start by going to your Walmart or Target, or whatever and getting some argon oil and applying that to your hair after showering
Note, it will take time for your hair to heal from the frizziness. Dont expect a miracle solution that changes your hair in one day.
If you decide to use a leave-in, leave a few inches between your scalp and where you apply it. Leave-in and rinse out conditioners can clog pores and cause irritation on the scalp. Ideally, you'd apply it to wet hair and once it is completely dry, gently shake your hair to loosen the light product cast that formed.
Another Tip: You can actually further seal the hair with oil, such as argan oil, after using a leave in. I use a few drops of this.
Maybe a lil' natural mixed with some light usage of this stuff and exposure to the sun. Thanks!
I use this one. It's pretty pricey for a piece of plastic but really easy to clean out after and well worth it IMO.
What have you done so far to help the frizz and volume situation? Have you tried a leave-in conditioner? I find leave-in conditioner helps keep my hair from frizzing very much. If you need a leave-in, Alba Botanica Advanced, Leave-In Conditioner may help.
Hey man, this is the sea salt spray I use. Adds some great texture and volume and doesn't leave your hair tacky like some other sprays do. I'd recommend searching through youtube as well since there are lots of DIY's to make your own spray, and the best part about going this route is that you can adjust the recipe based on the individual needs of your hair (more or less oil etc.)
I used to have frizz days nearly everyday ahah. I've pretty much stopped using shampoo now since my hair is naturally very dry.. I Rinse it every night when I shower, and condition every other shower. I use some basic leave in conditioner (I use this.. There are probably much better ones out there) when it's damp, and occasionally add argan oil to the ends.. (probably once or twice a week) and let my hair air dry. No idea what my curl type is. Haven't really looked into it :(
I wash every other week with neutrogena, otherwise with warm water. After shampoo I always use this stuff to keep it from drying out:
https://www.amazon.com/SheaMoisture-Coconut-Hibiscus-Enhancing-Smoothie/dp/B0038TVH3Y?th=1
For styling, I add a little lemon juice right after I shower in the morning, and comb it with my fingers.
I also have similar hair to OP and am at 7 months. I like to use a leave in conditioner sometimes, it can help tame and make less awkward, or just to switch things up. https://www.amazon.com/Alba-Botanica-Advanced-Leave-Conditioner/dp/B0011DL6R6/ref=sr_1_23_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1486378631&sr=1-23&keywords=leave+in+conditioner
You could also wear a beanie, it's cold out ;)
edit: Also comb or brush your hair. The last time I had a year of growth I never combed it and it was unmanageable so I cut it. I didn't realize why, either. So silly to not have a comb. Now I comb my hair every day while it's still damp.
It's totally worth it dude! I found it at target, in the beauty section I think. I could be wrong though. You can also get it on amazon here:
https://www.amazon.com/SheaMoisture-Coconut-Hibiscus-Enhancing-Smoothie/dp/B0038TVH3Y
Bobby pins should work. See if you can find ones that are matte brown if you want to keep it subtle. Or maybe clips like these would help too.
If you're brave, you could comb the bangs straight back and hold them down with a little gel or something.
Have you tried just using conditioner? I had that problem and now just use conditioner and rinse it off after leaving it in for 5 minutes and no more dandruff
Shampoo made my scalp itchy and dry
You could also try Nizoral shampoo - https://www.amazon.com/Nizoral-D-Anti-Dandruff-Shampoo-Oz/dp/B00AINMFAC/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1482979077&sr=1-1&keywords=nizoral
try using Softee coconut oil. i buy mine at dollar tree. i've also used Garnier Fructis Style Curl Cream.
I use Shea Moisture Jamaican black castor oil strengthen, grow and restore treatment masque for my type 3B/C curly hair. Using this stuff 1-2 times a week has really helped me to keep the frizz and poofiness at bay. However it's got an unusual smell to it which I personally like, but might not be to everyone's taste.
No, I haven't tried that many. One jar lasts ages. mine is viva labs extra virgin organic coconut oil. It is mostly liquid in the summer and solid in the winter. (Turns to liquid as you warm it up in your hands)

Use this to wash your hair and condition your hair. Your hair has the same texture of my 'underneath' hair (it's straight on top). This shit is the only thing that keeps it at bay.
How often do you wash it? If you wash it too often you'll lose all your natural hair oils, which give it that curly wavy look.
Don't over-rinse your conditioner out when you shower. Just a quick rinse and youre done, otherwise it's all going down the drain (though on the other hand if you don't rinse it enough it will get all crunchy and gunky)
Try a product that you can put in your damp hair after a shower. Like you mentioned, sea salt spray and kinda squishing your hair can help. Also Argan oil (http://www.amazon.com/Organix-Renewing-Moroccan-Argan-Penetrating/dp/B006B6SE6E) is worth a look. I alternate between these two on days that I shampoo my hair.
That being said, if you're hair is naturally straight it may be hard to get it to be really wavy all the time. Embrace your natural hair type. Straight hair has its perks too.
This stuff will keep bangs out of eyes. I use it for that purpose, similar to how you push yours up. http://www.amazon.com/Kenra-Professional-Finishing-Spray-No/dp/B0017U3NBU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449805702&sr=8-1&keywords=kenra+26
It acts as a natural wax/leave in conditioner so long as you do not put to much. The brand I use is Kelapo
After I wash my hair, then dry it so its damp, I put on enough to just line the hair. Then I use my medium tooth comb to straighten the hair so it slowly dries into tame state. It keeps the moisture locked in really well for around 4-5 hours then my hair just to start to lose most of its moisture but it still looks better even after days of no washing if I had at least put coconut oil in since my last wash. I can't use any synthetic products due to psoriasis so this is what works for me. This also means I cannot use a blow dryer or I'll be snowing flakes for the rest of the day so I must air dry my hair.
My hair type is naturally very dry, thick and easily prone to frizz if not dried the right way. I have to do no poo, and use this conditioner every two days to keep it nourished. I honestly have had coconut oil in my hair all the time except when washing for about 3 months now and its pretty much made it from a jew fro(4 months in severe awkward stage) to something that looks alright. It works for my hair I guess since it naturally has almost no moisture in it, so when I put some in, the hair completely soaks it up so there is no oily feel to it, just feels like regular hair.
Here. I think you'll find a slightly better price in store.
Pomade usually leaves a slicker finish, and doesn't have as firm a hold, whereas wax is dryer and usually has a stronger hold. It depends what kind of look you want to achieve. I'd say pomade is probably better for giving your hair a bit more weight and volume, while wax is more suited towards holding it in a certain way and maybe getting it slightly straighter-looking. It's tough to say exactly how it will make your hair look without experimenting.
I've only just started using oil recently, and all I've done at this point is apply it after showering and washing my hair (when it's about 80% dry) to get it to that "2-3 days after washing" consistency. I've read some people will instead put it in their hair for an hour or so before washing but I haven't tried that yet. Wax or pomade I apply in the morning as needed to get my hair to look alright for the day, after dampening my hair just barely enough to get it malleable.
I co-wash and have been Aussie Miraculously Smooth conditioner. It makes my hair super soft and cuts down on the frizz.
Here you go brother. I got into using this stuff while I was in India. Stuff is great. It doesn't take too much of the natural oils from your hair and all it is, is spices and herbs. The shikakai, is the good stuff and it's fantastic for your hair. You can use it as a paste or mix it with something like yogurt or honey so that it will latter better. Combine this with some coconut oil and you're bound to have some fantastic flow.
Although my hair is straight as a stick, I use this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coconut-Hibiscus-Curl-Shine-Conditioner/dp/B00EUMC62O/ref=sr_1_4?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1434393866&sr=1-4&keywords=curl+conditioner I have seen on youtube of a chick who said if you used curl conditioner/shampoo products continously, your hair will become not curly but slightly wavier. I just want some DAM waviness in my hair so im trying it out! Dont think it will work but it seems like a conditioner is a conditioner.
1.Make sure you don't use any elastic with metal showing. Honestly i just wouldn't use elastic bands, scrunchies are great and if you're adventurous try out sticks! 2. Use Oils! I recommend This 3. Never leave the shower without conditioning your hair, focus on the tips. 4. In a ponytail or bun the front of your hair will reach the back easier along the sides than over the top.
Is this what you would use? How would you apply it? http://www.amazon.com/Viva-Labs-Organic-Virgin-Coconut/dp/B00DS842HS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430206575&sr=8-1&keywords=coconut+oil
I'm very hesitant to use any oils because I hate how oily hair looks. But I'm willing to give it a try.
I don't use shampoo, but I highly recommend this conditioner. I'll use it once every other day.
