Just went through the fancy slideshow presentation thing and I have to say, I really like it. And with the suggestion of a two year trial period, I don't see why they wouldn't give it a go.
PIA doesn't work for me either. Nor does ExpressVPN (both are paid services).
RTE appears to be one of the strictest companies I've seen for this. It seems they spend more on making sure their region locking is bullet proof than almost anyone else.
Of course they'd spend their time and effort being a world leader in this shit, when all you need to do is meet the typical industry standard to be safe from litigation.
Arseholes.
I agree with ohers, but the GAA has to be out of their mind with those costs. I have been using Private Internet Access to get RTE going for about $6.
A full years sub to GAAGO is way overpriced. They should have a separate sub for just League or Championship games. Hell, they should probably even separate Football and Hurling into seperate packages. $75 or so for just the Championship matches would be about right
Though, I have to say, I have used GAAGO in the past, and the stream quality is much better than RTE
Use Hola Unblocker and set it to Ireland to view geolocked content.
Go to that site and click the "Get Hola, it's free!" button. It should prompt you to install the add-on/extension for your particular browser.
It's very simple and just a click to switch it on or off or set it to another country, like the US for example, to view US Netflix.
phones can be very poor quality. Use a standard camcorder with one of these and a laptop using OBS software and youtube live streaming, you got yourself a much better quality stream
Just so you know, NordVPN does not work on RTE Player for me. There was a thread about it on here a while ago that you might want to read.
Also, I don't think you should consider free VPN services.
Weirdly, NordVPN works on my windows 10 laptop, but not on my Mac... no idea why, haven't been able to figure it out. Don't know what settings would be on the Win10 that would make it past whatever VPN identifier the RTE Player has.
Time difference is a factor, but you could get a VPN (I use ExpressVPN) and just watch on RTÉ Player and TG4. Can't say which VPN works for definite on RTÉ though.
And seriously, if the GAA wants to grow the game in NA they should really have cheaper monthly options.
Hey, GAH! is an app that i made and work on in my spare time. It has fixtures and results for football and hurling. It's not real time, but if it's fixtures and FT results you're after it should do the job https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ie.gah.android
Howya lads, heres a free gaelic and hurling quiz game I made for Android called "Higher or Lower Gaelic&Hurling". Its a simple game where you have to guess if the answer to the question is higher or lower than the previous one.
There's google leaderboards and all so you can compare your scores to everyone else too.
If your interested, give it a go here:

In case someone else comes here from google and is searching for the app, it was renamed to Gaelsport. Here ist the Link for Android.
Amazon has footballs and they are reasonable
I know this is a UK link but that's because I'm UK, you can use your local Amazon and they should have similar listings.
Don’t have one handy but may be worth trying with a VPN, TunnelBear used to work for me, you can get a free trial and change settings to Ireland, though you may have to reset it a few times usually to work fully
You could try setting up OpenVPN on your Mac, That might help. I believe this guide written by Nord could help you out https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/x-mac-os-x/openvpn/
As far as I know you can only get regular bbc and not the NI regional one live on the iplayer. Next best thing I have found is tvmucho to watch rte. For some reason my paid for NordVPN not work with rte player?
Hey u/Stegasaurus_Wrecks! We have a fix out now that should address the text overlap issue. We've also added a ton of performance enhancements so the app should be more snappy now.
Here's a link to the update: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ie.gah.android&hl=en_IE

Looks good based on the screenshots
I strongly recommend a paid option, as free VPNs are dangerous, leak your data, and don't often unblock streaming sites. They are also slow. I recommend trying TorGuard, AirVPN, or VPNArea. Check how they compare against the rest in this site.
If you really need a free one, then I suggest Windscribe.
I've personally been using TunnelBear as my VPN, I'm sure there are other options out there but it's the one that I've found suits my needs the best and has been reliable, they give you some free MB to try it out initially, then you can pay around a tenner a month or so (there's yearly options too but I don't see the need for it outside the GAA season), I've yet to find a free reliable VPN that can get you Irish sites.
Unless there's something specifically changed on the end of RTE (i.e. blacklisting of VPN server addresses such as was done with Netflix), then it may just be down to the service you're using.
A reputable paid VPN provider, such as Private Internet Access.
Why not use something like Torguard or instead, yeah you have to pay for them but at least you can use them for other things as well like netflix, instead of paying for GAAGO. They are also much safer than Hola.
I have an Android app called GAH! which is quite an early version as of yet so it's fairly limited feature wise. For the minute, just has fixtures/results for senior inter-county football matches, should have inter-county hurling matches in soon.
