I always use this site to add white margins to pdf.

As you can see it adds some space where you can take notes....
Buyer Beware.
No mention of Windows on the Goodnotes home page (https://www.goodnotes.com). That should be your first clue. If you go to to the 2nd link in your message then click on Time Base Technology Limited (authors of the app), it takes you to Goodnotes. I'm guessing it's a flat-out scam, or an emulator. If an emulator it's not authorized by Goodnotes. Either way, if I owned or used a Windows machine, about as likely as winning the Powerball, I would not put questionable software on my computer.
From the pack I bought, one tip has lasted a couple weeks of daily lecture notes and hw.
IDK if mine will will work as well for you, but here's the link.
I made this using Figma, here’s the link.
I didn’t really proofread the dates yet so just ping me if you find errors!
Depends on the platform! To start out, maybe check out the free web tool Glyphr: www.glyphrstudio.com If you’re iPad first, I’d pick up iFont Maker ($7.99) https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ifontmaker/id377381670 — Fontise is maybe more popular but not as good. On a desktop, check out Birdfont: https://birdfont.org. Please know that font design is a pretty big PITA and my guess is the color-changing stickers we’ve seen so far are using an existing open source icon font like Font Awesome or similar. Good luck & happy designing!
Get some off brand replacement bibs from Amazon. They’re like $9-$11 for a 4 pack for like $9. With the paper-like screen protector it does wear down the tips quicker and these tips are just like the Apple ones.
Interesting on the tip "grips" or cover, whatever one wants to call them. I don't think I can personally use them as I prefer a fine tip feel and have favored a carbon fiber tip off brand from time to time to the Gen 2 Apple Pencil.
I have learned I cannot write without a grip on, the only flaw is Apple screwed that royally by not having an alternative charging method for the Gen 2. So, I have to remove the grip to charge. Which is not a huge issue, but it's just one more thing to keep track of.
The prices for the items on that site are high IMO. I bought a glove on Amazon for $6 and it works amazing. I carry my iPad Pro 11" in a Vera Bradley sleeve and keep my Gen 2 pencil, glove and the off brand pencil in there. Fits nicely in a purse.
I use this grip if anyone is interested; no motive, just sharing what works for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JR68Y37/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also, OP I have found writing feels better in Notability. I have started using it a bit more lately because it allows me to record while taking notes. Which is a nice feature I didn't realize I would enjoy.
Paperfeel Screen Protector for Apple iPad 7 (10.2-Inch, 2019 Model, 7th Gen),XIRON iPad 10.2 Matte PET Paper Texture Film No Glare Scratch Resistant Paper Protector,Compatible with Apple Pencil https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YYY1DDZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_k7poFbQ1D95D2
Sure. I've tried a couple but this is the last batch I bought and I'm very happy with them.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09P8CTBC6
It's an added bonus that they are black, so they kind of look like a pencil. Plus I don't get them mixed up with my other spare tips from Apple.
Ok in case you found the wrong ones. I bought these
I think ill like metal ones better. Many friends have mixed feelings about paper feel and I honestly don't have money to replace thing every while. I'm an English major so my notes aren't major. so I mostly use it for my gen eds
I have Moshi iVisors on my older iPad and my iPad Pro (and my daughter's iPad too). They're expensive compared to most screen protectors, but they don't scratch and I've never had to replace one.
For tips, I'm a HUGE fan of the .7mm metal tips. They feel much more like writing with a real pen, to me, and you have better visibility of what's under the tip. A bunch of sellers have them but these are the ones I have: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B09KVCQXQP/
I suggest using the PaperLike screen protector with a Ballpoint tip instead :-)
The ballpoint tip is metal so it does not easily wear down and grips onto the paperlike surface better, making the whole writing/drawing process much more precise.
Yes, definitely. I've used tons of different ones over the years, and it really is worth the money. The Pencil 2 has the double-tap feature too, which is really useful when you're writing and need to erase frequently.
You can also swap the tips; I use these, and it feels much more pen-like.

I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WHNJ9H8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
$11 for two and I absolutely love it.
I've been using iCarez for about ten months and haven't noticed any wear yet.
I like it a lot. imo Paperlike is way overpriced.
On the iPad, open the email in Mail, press Print, select the thumbnail, press Share, and send that to GoodNotes.
You can also fully automate it if this is a regular thing:

Yes!! I have this one, and I love it so much!
I really wanted a matte screen protector for writing, but I didn’t want the screen to have permanent resolution loss. So I got this. I put it over my normal glass screen protector, and it’s AMAZING. it sticks super well on my iPad Air and is really easy to take off and put on. As a slight warning: if you don’t have a normal screen protector on, be careful to make sure there’s no dirt on your screen, or you might scratch it.
Thanks :) I think the case is this one - https://www.amazon.ca/i-Blason-Release-Full-Body-Trifold-Protective/dp/B097SFTNL6/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=HVE5PCKMHOFN&keywords=ipad+pro+12.9+case+pen+holder&qid=1647012648&sprefix=ipad+pro+12+9+case+pen+holde%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-6
It’s a little bulky and a really pain to get on / off - but it’s worked really well protecting the iPad!
These have been great, easily come on and off for charging but also stick to the side of my iPad with the case onamazon link
You're welcome :)
For the calculator, it is not a physical calculator but many online websites have this feature. One that I liked for that was https://www.cymath.com/ It also has an app on Google Play. I am not sure if it is available on Apple devices.
I use the Bellemond detachable (magnetic) matte screen protector and I love it. my nibs don’t feel like they are running down fast. I love being able to remove it so it’s crisp when I watch movies.
iI watched a ton of reviews about paper-like that are similar or better or cheaper and Bellemond came up several times.
I had such a hard time deciding and ended up getting the best of both worlds. I got this detachable screen protector that feels like paper. I just take it off when I use the iPad to watch mares and stuff.it comes with a case.

I have used a very cheap one but the scratches showed up, way too much! I'm now using Spigen PaperTouch Pro Matte Screen Protector for iPad 1 Pack https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08TBWMXBY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_0F1F02M3M60YCK7KJX4Q
I love it, I've watch YouTube and netflix and not noticed a huge difference in quality. It's lovely to write on and my tips have only started going down now since November 21.
I really like this one and it’s much cheaper than Paperlike but delivers the same paper feel. I believe I found the recommendation on this sub as the best dupe for Paperlike. I’m very happy with it.
I have a tempered glass protector, but don't know which one because it was already installed when I bought my iPad. On top of that I use a removable magnetic matte protector (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B09838JDS4/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_DRM2RYDMW1HQDQAYGKE1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) and I love it. Don't think I could ever go back to writing all the time without it, at least for me it tires my hand out without it.
Been super happy with mine! I’m still on my original Apple Pencil. Also, for context, I use it for note-taking in classes and casual drawings on the side! The texture is great. After some use (every 1-2 months), I wipe the screen with a warm damp towel to remove any oils or residue, and just like that, it feels new again!
Homagical Paperfeel Screen Protector for iPad Air 4 (10.9 inch, 2020)/ iPad Pro 11 All Models, Matte PET Film Screen Protector for iPad Pro 11/iPad Air 10.9,Compatible with Apple Pencil https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SKV995M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_N37NFFH97VK7Q3X9PH9W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Actually, the paperlike screen protectors eat through tips. I have tried the name brand and generic ones. When I used paperlike protectors, I was going through a tip a month on average. I switched to a tempered glass protector and have been using the same tip for over a year now. Not even a little sign of wear and tear on my tip. This is the one I am currently using. Another plus side is that it does not mess with the resolution or color which can be a common problem with paperlike or matte screens as well.
I use this and it’s very thin. Charges easily. And I kind of prefer the full body coverage
Oh, sorry. No case?
Then something similar to that one above:
No problem, I love talking about this stuff :)
The best app I found for calendar integration is "Pencil Planner and Calendar Pro".
I've tried several apps that both allow Calendar integration and scribbling on top of that for more detailed planning, and this one seems to be the most feature-rich and actively maintained, though their roadmap is getting developed a bit slower than they say initially (though we know how it is with delays).
It's nowhere near as pretty as some GoodNotes templates, and it doesn't have fancy stuff like stickers yet, plus it has a subscription for some features instead of a one-time purchase, but I still like it.
Bonus useful app: MyScript calculator. Got some math to do? Pencil it here and it will give you the result, much more convenient than a calculator.
Another app you might like is something like LiquidText or MarginNotes. They basically allow you to extract chunks of PDFs or webpages and put them and other notes on a board on the side, with a link back to the original place in the document. I love the idea but I'm still trying to find a good use-case for them for non-students.
Other apps I use tend to be mainly on my iPhone though, stuff like Things 3, MyFitnessPal, Paprika, exist.io, Health Mate + Happy Scale, Auto Sleep, etc.

Yeah. I have those exactly. Not sure if my Air 4 is a refurbished model (bought new from Amazon), but it's a bit weird that these options are missing for me in general.
I got most of them through the #แจกpng hashtag on Twitter and Creative Market! The stickers on the left side of my stickers page were from the template I bought from Etsy. I got the ones from the right page from https://creativemarket.com/MarsalaDigital2/4478770-Abstract-Prints-Shapes-Graphics-vol2 and https://creativemarket.com/KassyDavis/1408340-Tropical-Vector-Icon-Collection
If you are looking for other colours palettes Adobe have a website focused all around them. Here is a link.
Sort by Colour theme then most popular for the best ones.
I have a knock off one from Amazon that was a lot cheaper and works great this is it
I pretty much was having this issue for a really long time. For a while, I used to make templates in Pages and Keynote, but these were limited in various ways. So when I finally came back to GN for a 7th time, I sucked it up and taught myself how to start using vector and raster based editing software (namely Affinity Publisher and Pixelmator Pro). So I’m pretty much producing my own templates at this point. I’m also learning how to use Procreate to make my little stickers (like little post-it notes).
If OP is this frustrated with this app, Concepts is another popular choice. It’s very much geared towards designers. https://concepts.app/en/
Another choice is ZoomNotes. Very, very flexible with note taking options. http://www.zoom-notes.com/
Both of these can have a bit of a steep learning curve.
So I’m experiencing GN in a different way now and with the help of the wife (heavy GN user), she taught me a bunch of new stuff I hadn’t used yet (ironically I’ve owned this app since the beginning lol).
I FIXED IT (yes, after 8 hours of dumb me trying everything I could think of)!! The problem was that the file was too big. The pdf I imported was 6.3MB, and so the pages were rendering and loading really slowly, and it was bugging out. I simple used the website https://www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf to compress the file, and it's all good now! Thank you to those who tried to help <3 i hope this helps anyone who has this problem too, as I couldn't find a solution online :D
you can pre-process the pdf before importing it to add some space. two ways to do this are to print to PDF in OSX and adjust the page size and scaling of content there or (the thing that I do) use this online tool: https://www.sejda.com/resize-pdf which is free for smaller documents.
Yea like the previous comment said maybe try read only mode. this is the website i used (converter). I dunno if its worth to mention but in any case i made this on power point.
GoodNotes is currently hiring for software developers who don’t just specialise in iOS/macOS. They’ve stated in the job listings they’re looking beyond the Apple ecosystem for GoodNotes. However, it likely won’t happen for a LONG while. Link to their current job opportunities: https://www.goodnotes.com/careers/
This is what I found pn the features. It says iPad, iPhone and Mac in the same sentence and the feature of searching your notes does come up here as well, so I’m positive that you are indeed able to search handwritten notes on a Mac(book).
Definitely get an apple pencil sleeve to help with grip! I have this one and I really like it, I'm debating getting a thicker one too so my hands dont get so tired while writing.
So I'm not much help because I have an iPad 11 pro and the 2nd generation Apple pencil; and don't know anything about the iPad 8 as I sat stated in your other post. However, I bought these pens/pencil knockoffs in Amazon for my kids to use with their school issued iPads to help with their homework and they work great. I'm a huge fan of the carbon fiber tip. I even have one of these for my iPad. I don't use the paper like brand protector. I bought a cheap one from Amazon and have zero issues.
Stylus Pen for iPad with Palm... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W6CW3QS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I used to use an Adonit capacitive stylus. It had a fine point tip with a clear disc so you could see well. This is the stylus I've been using for the past year or so. The tip takes a bit getting used to, but it does the job for cheap! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H6MBB63/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
P.S. palm recognition should be fine with capacitive stylus
I didn't put a link since we were just talking about matte screen protectors in general. The one I got is from the brand Tech Armor on Amazon.
Haha, I have OCD and I totally feel you on this. I actually ended up getting a cover for my pencil (here) and it helps me grip it better and kind of takes away from the fact that it doesn't match ;)
I have a ton of 3x5 flash cards from before I became a digital student. I have a paperang printer so I print out pictures and then I color it in. I can post a picture of some of my creations.
