Apparently you use it to "trim" your buds by whacking off the sugar leaves. I always used something like this...
https://www.amazon.com/IIVVERR-Scissors-Herramientas-Pl%C3%A1stico-recubierto/dp/B088FDRSWC
I recommend Dr.Meter brand lux meter. Cheap on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Meter-LX1330B-Digital-Illuminance-Light/dp/B005A0ETXY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=H3ESAA68HI4W&keywords=dr+meter+lux+meter&qid=1664761202&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjQ0IiwicXNhIjoiMC4yOSIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=dr+...
Lotus cure.
Get yourself some cooling racks from Target / Walmart / Amazon / restaurant supply store - it doesn't really matter the point is they let you use one shelf on your fridge and turn it into a couple of shelves.
When you harvest your bud, wet trim as much of the larger fan leaves off as possible but don't worry about the small sugar leaves (you can dry trim later, we just want airflow) - stack 'em up on the racks. Give them a turn every 24 ~ 48 hours so they don't get flat spots, after ~10 days you can check moisture levels and go into jars (or grove bags) for your final cure.
You can put the jars in the fridge door for the curing process or the counter depending on your space.
Any recommendations I’m currently using this https://www.amazon.com.au/Spectrum-Growing-Vegetable-Greenhouse-Hydroponic/dp/B078SQNLYX so far so good Would I get a decent yield? current light
Tent Sizes
Size | Height | Sqft |
---|---|---|
2x2 | 48" | 4 |
4x2 | 60" | 8 |
3x3 | 72" | 9 |
4x4 | 80" | 16 |
5x5 | 80" | 25 |
I strongly recommend getting the largest tent you can fit in your space for the purposes of grow height. For example, maybe you only have the budget for a 100w grow light to start, you should still get a 4x2 tent or 3x3 tent and just use half the space, because the extra height will give you a LOT more flexibility and comfort.

Light Options

Type | Price | Explanation |
---|---|---|
Shop Lights | $1.50/watt | Don't buy, these have a poor usable light range for plants (CRI / PPF) and are more expensive than grow lights |
Blurple Lights | $1.00/watt | Don't buy, these are outdated and have poor yield in flowering |
Boards | $0.50 ~ $1.00/watt | Excellent budget option for growers, luxury features like samsung lm301h diodes and meanwell drivers cost more but are nice to have |
Bars (coupon: "reddit") | $0.50 ~ $1.00/watt | Excellent commercial / large scale option for growers, has excellent coverage and flexibility in intensity for different types of grows |

Exhaust
...just get an AC Infinity 6"+ setup and be done with it, the budgets options are all poor quality.
i got this one microscope
this is their budget full spectrum led don’t get the blurple
There isn't really a wrong answer here, it just depends on what you're trying to get out of it. You're in the very beginning of the harvest window with what looks like about 25% orange hairs and mostly clear with some cloudy trichomes (hard to tell from photos). This will give you more of a heady high without as much body. I'd bet that in about 2 weeks you'll be at peak THC with mostly cloudy trichomes and after that you'll be trading THC for CBN as the trichomes start to amber out. The more amber trichomes the more this stuff will glue you to the couch and knock you out.
At this point it's really a matter of personal preference and desired effects. I'd highly recommend a "microscope" like this link you can attach to you phone for dialing in the Clear/Cloudy/Amber ratio to your preference, https://www.amazon.com/Magnifying-Microscope-Magnifier-Universal-Smartphone/dp/B0839492KY
Haven’t used one of these for trichome but have for identifying pests and the quality is just not that great at that magnification. The best thing I have found for seeing trichomes and taking pictures of them are those clip on magnifying lenses for phone cameras: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00PQ9XV2E?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_4JZN34WR2V2VX8W2C48K
I bought one of those digital scopes and I had a real hard time getting a decent image out of it. Eventually I gave up and just went with this 20x-60x pocket microscope for like $15 and I find it much easier to use. I can't save images with it but it works for me.
This one however doesnt have a meanwell driver and us $40 off right now. If it didnt have $40 off i wouldnt buy it. Viparspectra has one w meanwell for like $200ish. Id rather get a kingbrite on alibaba tho.
No, your nutrients have a feeding chart, look it up.
Add now half of what's there for "early flower", then add per the chart every second watering
If you can't find the chart it's on the amazon page in photos https://www.amazon.com/Emerald-Harvest-Kick-Starter-Part/dp/B01LX237BL
I'm in Canada not sure where you live. But this is from the Canadian Amazon site. These pens will last you years as long as you clean and calibrate them monthly. And they let you know when their calibration is off and needs to be done.
That might be the issue, many seedbanks count flowering weeks from the first sight of flowers, not the change in light schedule.
As for a 2x2 drying rack I use these: https://www.amazon.com/Happy-Hydro-Hanging-Collapsible-Hydroponic/dp/B07GSD6BKP?th=1
Get this, dr earth 444 mix for veg. And dr earth bloom 394 for flower. The 444 is usually around $12 and can sometimes be found at your local home depot or lowes. Bloom is sometimes there too but anything near 394 ratio is fine.
This light is pretty outdated, I would opt for something like this:
It’s the same true wattage, in the same price range & much more efficient.
I grabbed these and I’m halfway through my first harvest and while they feel amazing I have had issues with the lock (it just came off) and the spring in one had to be put back on, but when it comes to be comfortable and doing what they are intended to do they have been great.
The one below is the best option for those of us with sketchy eyesight and shaky hands. Blows away the hand held microscopes you use your phone / laptop for, as scope and screen are all in one hand. Loupes and other type magnifying glasses are usually too weak to see well, or too small to use easily, so I don't use those much anymore.
Yes but it is cumbersome. What I started doing was using a boom mic, holding the scope and propping my arm against the mic then steadying the scope against the bud which also steadies the bud. Now I can fly through pictures so fast, getting shots from buds all over my 2x4 without having to even move the mic stand more than a couple of times and leaving all fans on.
my scope - Basically the same one with a different stand, same manufacturer. I love that it has its own Wi-Fi, I just turn it on, connect my phone, and use their app to collect shots. Then I download them into my PC if I need to. I've also managed to use it for over 5 days without recharging when doing a lot of checks near the end of a run. The only maintenance is wiping the clear lens protector off with Isopropyl alcohol every use or 2 to keep it clean as new and it slides off for easy cleaning. I have no zoom issues. In fact it can zoom too far, the first time I used it I was looking at hairs on a pistil thinking my trichs looked really weird :D It also zooms out far enough that I hold up fingers for photos so I know which trich shots belong to which plant.
It looks like vegetative stage. I cant tell if it's overwatered but since you are asking I doubt you drilled holes in that container.
I'd repot to a fabric pot like this.
If you have a fabric totebag lying around - the ones you usually get for free in giveaways or goodybags and take-away - then you can use them as an alternative. They dont drain as well but it's better than an old coffee canister
I like to use liquid kelp as it makes for a killer root system and healthy plants
I got the 6 ton dabpress 6 Ton Hydraulic Jack Heat Press... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07KLPX4NW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If you’re already making the bubble hash a press would be sweet! I’ve only been pressing flower right now as I’m still on my first grow but I plan on making bubble hash and pressing it on this. Would be much cleaner on your banger that’s for sure!
This the one I use in my grow room. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FXNYHHB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Cheapest I was able to find. Works great. Just put it in the room of the tent and not inside the tent. They generate some heat in a room but they are a furnace inside a tent.
TASOGEN 6 Pack Mini Digital... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08P3QJJZL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Order these exact ones if you live in Canada. I’ve got 18 of them now and every single one has been within 1% of all the others. They’re amazing for the price! Have a little clip on them too so I strung a few up on my lines with my weed hanging to get a good gauge of what’s going on all the time
put it in the jar at 62% humidity and pen the jar 2x per day for a minute. do this for 2 weeks and test it. go another 2 weeks. get a moisture gauge from amazon to stick in the jar

Check out this light https://www.amazon.com/Groplanner-Coverage-Dimmable-Spectrum-Greenhouse/dp/B092YV9SH9/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?crid=ROV9H7X37NTJ&keywords=groplanner&qid=1666794175&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjM0IiwicXNhIjoiMi40NyIsInFzcCI6IjIuMjAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=... Just got my third one as it’s proving it’s path into my garden. Only 250 right now: I monitor these prices daily nearly and 200-250 best price they offer on this light. Best money spent for 4x4-5x5 imo. I don’t like tents but whatever you have access to. Id use panda film and a small closet or a make shift tent with 2x4s, as you have unlimited options with panda and gorilla tape over a tent.
https://www.amazon.com/Groplanner-Coverage-Dimmable-Spectrum-Greenhouse/dp/B092YV9SH9/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1QK7N4KON6D09&keywords=groplanner%2B640&qid=1666760528&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjI0IiwicXNhIjoiMC44NyIsInFzcCI6IjEuMTUifQ%3D%3D&sprefi... Check it out. Do a bit of research. I think I got the best light for the money right now. They remove the deals quick. Wasn’t even 300 for prime week, was still 400, I’m buying at 250 all day. I wish I had some more money to make it happen today. Click my profile look what 3 weeks veg under this light did to my 4 clones. Hey Groplanner if you see this give me a marketing job in exchange for extra discounts 😂😅
Ya bud, check that. If you don't have a good ph pen, ditch that cheap $20 one.. I use this Apera ph pen. Great bang for your buck
If you are worried about heat; why not get like a 400 or 600 watt LED light?
I bought this one pretty cheap: SZHLUX 4000W LED Grow Light 6×6ft... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MF2247G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I been pretty happy with it.
Honestly it doesn't even need to be that. Just look for the Samsung 301s and the Meanwell drivers. That's usually a good sign that you can pull a good crop with that light.
Here's a quick, cheap example of what I'm saying.
https://www.amazon.com/LeFreshinsoft-Spectrum-F1000-Dimmable-Samsung/dp/B08MXPTB29
Point is, please don't feel like your options are limited due to the current trends.
What size are you looking for? I bought this one for a drying tent and it doesn't leak light. There are 3 holes in it for fans/vents but cover those and your good. I built my own grow room rather than buying one.
I am already using this light in a 4x4 tent. any bigger will probably make the light bleaching even worse than it has been. it probably wont be an issue once the plants need more light.
The other day I spent a good 10 hours trimming. I use a small pair of barber scissors similar to these. I think they’re easy on the hand than the ones in your pic.
like these?
I would get 2 of these for a 4x8. They are 400w each and only $200. They have great diodes samsung lm301. I have the 240w version from the same company and love it. https://www.amazon.com/Yuanhui-Spectrum-Dimmable-Commercial-Foldable/dp/B09KTKWFVD/ref=dp_prsubs_1?pd_rd_i=B09KTKWFVD&psc=1
Great idea! I drained my entire 5 gallon 4 plant grow with an 18$ Pennzoil hand pump :D
If you wanted to go mars hydro I can't recommend anything specific as I don't know much about them, but this seems like a solid offering it'd take two, probably. mars hydro 3000 they are kinda spicy. I've looked at these in the past, always had good reviews, I'm just cheap so I run cheaper lights, aglex 4000. To be honest I'm not a light aficionado so someone else will probably come in with better suggestions, the only thing I can say is without c02 generation you probably won't see much benefit once you go over 500w per 4x4, you'll end up running them dimmed 99% of the time. So look for lights that have 4-500w of real power usage, ignore the little white box lights that say "1000w!" and have a bunch of purple led's, they are junk... well they work fine in like a 2x2 with one plant. lol
I have 1 tower fan per 4x4 they work fantastic, even coverage top to bottom, and oscillating, mine has physical buttons so I can plug it into a smart plug and automate it. Clip on fans are nice for small tents but idk how useful they are for these big tents when we can just have a couple cheap tower fans in there, clip ons can be expensive esp if they oscillate.
this is the bowl trimmer i was talking about. its a decent investment if you hate trimming, but of course nothing beats a careful hand trim. i try to do as much as possible by hand, and just clean up with the scissors
Let me introduce you to the best product ever. No more buying 10 different amendments for your soil. It’s already got everything any soil needs and it’s all organic sustainable and local to my area. Cheap too. Mix this shit into a basic soil mix and it will turn it to black gold. Top dress it on solid clay and it will turn into arable land.
It’s called tank’s green stuff and their company is THE SHIT
https://www.amazon.com/Tanks-Green-Stuff-SuperMix-Fertilizer/dp/B0784TY293
> Fiskars
something like this?
I and a lot of others here have this one. It won't work with a controller, but has its own built in. The ones with a manual on/off switch (that will work with a controller) are pretty hard to find now. You can set this one to a preferred humidity level and it will turn on and off based on the level you set, within 5%.
Where is your exhaust going? You could run a standalone window unit like this and just run the exhaust where ever you are exhausting now
Just go and get a decent moisture meter. I lost a couple plants due to overwatering. Takes some of the guess work out. I thought my plants here light but they were holding moisture. Better to check than have your months of hard work crash die in 48 hours.
Nice plant by the way!
Nice repurpose. I don't have the floor space so I use a couple of these hanging from the ceiling.
https://www.amazon.com/Growers-Edge-Enclosed-Zipper-Opening/dp/B00CJIA27M
check out getting a condensate pump, it's what I use for my dehumidifier. I attach a 30 ft hose and string it up into the ceiling then back down 10 ft away into a utility sink so I never have to empty it.
this is the one I got for $50: https://www.amazon.com/Little-554425-VCMA-20ULS-Condensate-Removal/dp/B000SM342Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_5

My first couple of grows I used General Hydroponics FloraNova nutes which are one part and it's a little easier to use. Might be worth looking in to.
Ive bought alot of these jewellers loupes and they're all difficult to use and quality is shite.
I have this one, WiFi connects to phone upto 1000x zoom and 1080p
Finally got the order in. This is the light. $96 for a 240w with Samsung lm281b diodes and a meanwell. Im so excited. I also ordered their last extension cord so I can mount the driver out of the tent. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09YKZSM4Q?psc=1&smid=A1A2SGNMI1FMID&ref_=chk_typ_quicklook_imgToDp
Keep plucking the pollen sacs. Maybe let a few go to see what they look like opened up. Take this as a learning opportunity. $60 light Unless you add a light you aren't gonna get much besides hands-on learning. Learn and watch how the plant grows. Take notes. Get some better genetics
I doubt you'll get many more sacs after the intial growth spurt/stretch. This looks like poor breeding. Not fully testing the seeds for herm tendencies. This is a hermaphrodite. Probably a female who throws out male flowers early.
The room you grow in is the "lung room". Any small humidifier is not gonna work.
Get this one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FXNYHHB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This is the one I use in my grow room. You HAVE to use the continuous drainage hose or else you have to empty it every morning and every night. Works great though. When it's running for 24 hours it will pull gallons of water out of the air. If possible elevate it and run the drainage hose out a window. Otherwise use a 5 gal bucket. You have to get the hose connection above what your draining into though. It works like a siphon. Also don't forget to empty the bucket or it will overfill and pour out onto the ground. The humidifier can't tell if the bucket is empty. It's not a fun clean up... speaking from experience.
This one dont bother with any other crap you will struggle.
This connects to your phone via wifi with 1000x zoom and 1080p
Yes I think so. I bought some reflective Blankets off Amazon and wrapped them around my glass jar. https://www.amazon.com/Swiss-Safe-Emergency-Blankets-Signature/dp/B01LYNWRLA/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?keywords=reflective+blanket&qid=1661570626&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1
Get this one it connects via wifi to your phone. Up to 1000x zoom and 1080p
How long did you let it soak in ice water before washing? Even with crap biomass, that is an incredibly low return. First time I ran bubble, I got that kind of awful return and walked away disgusted. Couple hours later I ran the washer again and got twice as much back just from letting it sit and soak. I realized that I started with way too much ice, and way too short a soak on the first attempt. BTW, if you're washing that much volume, it'd be worth buying a cheap washer like this:
PH pens are stupid. Use this. I was a commercial grower. Noone was playing around with a ph pen calibrating.
2x4 would be great for the light you already have. Than you can just get 1 or preferably 2 more and you are set. If you want to save money just buy 2 of the lights I have. 100w for $41 https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
Yeah those aren't going to work all the way through the grow. It'll be okay for seedlings and even than you'll have to keep the light within 1r inches probably MUCH closer. You'd be better off with led bulbs from Walmart. If you are on a budget this is the lights I use untill my spider farmer arrives. Uf2000. 100w for $41. Hopefully it's available in your country. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
I have motion sensor cameras, but I was thinking of using something like these personal safety alarms attached to the pot, so if the plant is picked up it pulls the pin and a 120 decibel alarm goes off. Have the alarm part attached to the pot or the plant, so it travels with them if they start to run with it.
My other thought was to bury a tracking tag in the soil, so I could find out where the culprit was and call them out for stealing.
I leave one of those in my res and don't worry about fungus gnats or thrips, some people break them up and crumble them on their surface or you can buy liquid products like vectobac but they often have a shelf life and are harder to find for casual growers.
Get yourself one of these.
Worth the 18$ it costs. I recently started a 20x44x18” no til living soil bed and decided to give avacado tek a shot. I flipped over my Avacados the other day and saw all these little white specks all over them. With the naked eye and even zoomed way in with a camera they looked like lifeless eggs. Under the above clip on microscope it quickly became apparent that they were eggs but oribatid mites. And I have tons of them! What I have are a species of soil mites which are beneficial.
You can see spider mites with the naked eye but a much better clearer image will need to be taken to know what they are for sure.

Hey, Father-Herb, I don't post much and not sure of even how to post a thread, or what the rules are.
I just gotta let everyone know that there is some kind of glitch on Amazon right now that is giving a $40 discount on a $69 LeFreshinSoft grow light that came highly recommended by another Redditor, so I just snagged this for $29

I also have these which makes things really easy for an old man to move things around.
I like the little spray bottle it came with to use on my plants as well. You don’t really use a ton for just one plant so it’ll last but per the package it loses potency after 6 months of being opened. Otherwise tho it’s super nifty, yeah!

I picked up one of these when they were on sale and boy, does it work! humidity sits around 60/65% and usually cools to around 78/80. I live in Nevada so I understand battling the heat!
Chikamasa curved is my absolute favorite. They wipe clean from trim gunk super easily and the curved blade makes it really easy to get those pesky leaves that go into your bud sites. A little pricier but imo absolutely worth it.
Here-
I like this one because you set it to auto, ans anytime the humidity gets above 50% it turns on, so you can keep it on that and just leave it. And yes the leds in the tank turn off.

Np. You cannot tell the trichs maturity by eye so you need a loupe or magnifier of some sort. After all the work you've put in growing you do not want to ignore this, it will make a huge difference in the potency and taste of your bud.
