I've heard a reply from a mod before, it is because the VPN you are using may also be a VPN a hacker that was banned was using, so the watchdog/admin may think that he is on a different alt account to ban evade.

So let's say you're using NordVPN, right? and then Hackerboi123 is also using NordVPN. and then Hackerboi123 gets banned. Because you two are using the same VPN, it'll have similar IP addresses, and that will lead the admins to think that Hackerboi123 is ban evading, which is why they may have banned your account. Hope this helps!

P.S: This was all coded in 1.15.2 and Bukkit sadly has literally no cross compatibility (thanks Mojang for destroying things every 2 versions) so you cannot load this plugin in 1.8 and expect it to work. However using ViaRewind (I think) you can join 1.15.2 servers in 1.8.9 so it will still work. You could even add an old combat plugin if you wanted.
