The artist is "Sumashi" who, according to a comment on this site, said it took 6 months to draw the lines and 2 months to paint it.
Hey guys, because you liked my last one (https://www.reddit.com/r/ImaginaryLandscapes/comments/3f07fp/stick_em_up/).
I'm also posting my newest one :-). Hope you like it!
For those interested, here's my artstation account: http://www.artstation.com/artist/robinboer
To me, this image is both humorous and uneasy at the same time - in others words, very lifelike, ha.
More of this Swedish artist's stuff can be seen on his deviantArt gallery and ArtStation.
Were you expecting this lab with this Liara?
Looks pretty strongly like Skyrim, though the picture page never describes it as such: http://www.artstation.com/artwork/homecoming-3dfc194c-d328-4dad-ac60-185d3a790c20
This Maine-based artist creates editorial-type art and book covers, among other stuff. The image above is for a book by the same name by Robert Michael Pyle.
More of Douglas Smith's art can be found on Behance and Cargo Collective.
Daniel Clarke's behance.
By positioning the image through the eyes of a youngster, I think the artist is revealing how temporary short-term gain is often reversed by it's long-term consequences. In other words, how newer generations lose out in these kinds of situations.

Feel free to translate the title: 同憂の想
Posted this on /r/SpecArt a few months ago but it didn't get many votes. Probably more suited for this subreddit.
Apparently the original resolution was 28000x6000 - too large for him to post. He did, however, post a 2900x2000 clipping of the left side which you can view here: http://i.minus.com/irxEgdedkGrVM.jpg
Very much reminds me of pictures from the Aral Seas wrecks. Once one of the four largest lakes, it has been shrinking since the 1960s.
That looks awesome! Super clean aesthetics.
I've tried to download the demo for PC form here: http://www.indiedb.com/games/air-brawl/downloads/air-brawl-kickstarter-demo
But it's seem to be down, it gave me this message
"The file you have selected (Air_Brawl_PC.zip) is not available via any mirrors. Please check back shortly as our servers update every 5 minutes. To access more download mirrors we encourage you to join the community, otherwise please be patient and keep trying."
Any other source where I can download it?
A PNG is lossless so would be a better place to start. Uploading directly to Reddit also adds a bit of compression to the file too. It's certainly a good place to get your work out though and I really love it.
Looking around I found https://cubeupload.com/ , a site which claims to not compress any images uploaded. I'd love an uncompressed version of this as a desktop wallpaper.
I submitted a smaller version of this to /r/ImaginaryTechnology a year ago but because that link was to the now defunct CGHub, I thought I'd submit this wonderful image again, now much bigger. Back then, the artist titled it 'Huge' but today it's called 'Traction City'.
More of Christian Bravery's artwork is on his website and Art Station.
I was just thinking very similarly. God, I love giant trees in fantasy and hopefully, one day, we'll be able to grow ones in our own O'niell cylinders or on other planets.
These ones look like really big Banyan trees. I wonder if they were inspiration for the artist.
"The weirwood's bark was white as bone, its leaves dark red, like a thousand bloodstained hands. A face had been carved in the trunk of the great tree, its features long and melancholy, the deep-cut eyes red with dried sap and strangely watchful." -- A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
I'm a huge "Song of Ice and Fire" fan and I've wanted to do a render of a "heart tree" for a long time. I've posted a series of "making of" photos on my Instagram account if anyone is interested.
I set it up using If This Then That.
The trigger is "If new hot post in /r/imaginarylandscapes (using "Reddit"), then update device wallpaper (using "Android Device"). You may want to Google for a tutorial on using it if it isn't immediately obvious.
Olga Antonenko's artwork can be found on her Behance and website.
I love the imaginative and expansive majesty of this pic. Yes, Stockholm exists but I think this image is a new re-rigging of an old framework by way of this artist's imagination. She travelled to that city a few years ago and used her impressions to create this wonderful idea. She says, "This is not an exactly the place and time, but just my feeling of how it could look a few centuries ago."
Hi everyone, I hope you all like my edit! All of the shots used were taken from Unsplash.com and I combined the pictures together using both Lightroom & Photoshop. If anyone has any questions about how I processed this just send me a DM or leave a comment! Also, if you want to check out more of my work, my Instagram is @alesarburney

Beautiful lighting in this picture and a nice sense of impending adventure. You get the idea that the sailors are about five hundred years too late... but you never know what'll happen once they arrive and start investigating that old ruin...
High in the mountains, where nightmares haunt the edges of your vision, only the bravest of Sentinels dares to travel, like Achilles.
Inspired by Moebius (Jean Giraud). If you like this style, check him out.. The World of Edena is great if you want more inspiration from his works.
Love it, would love to set it as a wallpaper, do you have a higher res w/ your signature/mark on it (I don't want to take a higher res w/o you marking it, I share my wallpapers sometimes and don't want the work to end up on someone elses portfolio)? Also, my daughter wants to learn digital painting, thanks for answering some of the questions of what you picked up. She's reading 'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' right now. I'll probably get her a cheap wacom to start.
It's a lake in the Faroe Islands. It looks a bit otherworldly so came into my head when I saw this post. It might just be how my mind works! Here are some photos:
Really glad to hear it :)
Also might be of interest to you. I'd really reallllllllllly recommend listening to this. With Best headphones possible.

A splendid image, very reminiscent of Kipling's tales of Mowgli. But I don't like that black border because it draws the eye away from the piece itself, very constricting in my opinion.
Leaves? Leafs? According to Merriam-Webster's online dictionary, "either is a correct plural for the word leaf. There is no differentiation between the usages." Hmm.
The only website for the artist I can find is his Pixiv which is A) Japanese and B) requires registration. On this website you can at least see his other works.
This is a painting for one of the story screens for my indie RPG.
The huge body in the background is a passing by comet/rogue planet and not the meteor. The word is set on a giant space turtle.

I honestly didn't know the name, but looking through his other stuff...yeah. Guy's got talent. And since I found his illustration pack for sale page (includes all the info on how he does it including a realtime video - yeesh), I'll plug it: https://gumroad.com/andreasrocha
I'm not even a digital artist and I'm sorely tempted.
His Patreon also needs some love.
There's something you don't see every day.

Can we maybe get an autobot that reminds people to include a source? I see wayyyyy too many posts that don't and I'm getting tired of doing it myself.
(sorry if double post, got an error)

A personal project by the artist. I love dark, moody landscapes, especially ones that promise danger. You can just imagine this guy thinking, "I can make that jump... I'm pretty sure."
Great setting, composition and lighting. A real thought-originator - a writing prompt.

A deceptively simple image that nonetheless makes my heavy heart feel suddenly lighter in my chest. Gorgeous coloration and focussing of point of interest. I wish I was that rider right now. Who wouldn't trade places to be that rider, if even for just a few minutes? This is the kind of imaginary landscape that just takes you as soon as you see it.

Use the actual title of the artwork: Don't retitle an artist's piece, even if the relation between the title and the piece is unintuitive. Do not create a title for an untitled piece either.
This would make a good section for a video game. I remember playing a /r/TombRaider game (I forget which one) where Lara Croft had to scale such vertical islands as these in the first portion of the game.
Bogdan Marica's artwork can be found on blogspot and Art Station.
This image is actually generated by machine learning, so I hope the self-submission flair applies. Here is a link to the original image, in case someone wants to breed something else off it.
Really sorry about the amount of time it took for me to respond. Here is an awesome matte to footage breakdown. https://vimeo.com/39425218
Of course this one involves a lot of 3D but its just an example of where you can take mattes.
"The planet was discovered in twenty twenty-two, and it’s always been known as the Gas Rock. With an atmosphere not so different from Earth’s, it was a clear candidate for extra-solar expansions. But initial reports called the surface, "unsuitable for life." Too many gas pockets... too much risk. Ha. To the Space Napoleons that must have sounded like a challenge. Or maybe it was greed. You see, the planet is a goldmine: packed full of minerals too rare to extract on earth. In the end they built and dropped the whole city in from orbit, and hailed it as a marvel of post-planetary engineering. It was a chance to be part of the bright, new future. That’s what they said. And that’s what it was... Until, twenty years ago, the gas caught fire. Fifty floors of people... my mother... killed in the flare. More died later, when the first tower fell -- before the leaders started sending us down to brace the beams. All that matters now is we’re trapped on a dying rock, with just one hope left of getting off it in time. If the Ambassador’s rescue doesn’t come... or fails... Well, that’s when we stop bracing the beams, I guess. That’s when everything goes to shit."
