Pre-op I liked underwear with a wide gusset and thin elastic around the leg holes. That way it created a "pocket" for my lips, with firm borders that would stay in place and not let a lip slip out when I moved and leaned. My go-to was Maidenform cotton bikinis - You can see on the very thin model that the crotch is wide, lol. (IMO don't buy from Amazon, their prices are high; I found them a lot at places like Kohls, JC Penneys, Ross)
All of the above advise but also a memory foam donut ring cushion Very useful for the taxi ride home Aswell as any point you want to be sitting without feeling any discomfort.
I had the surgery and has helped with more discomfort if your inner labia is exposed/chafing. If yours is naturally concealed within your outer lips I think reducing them won’t necessarily help with the candidsose as the inner lips I think like tonsils do offer some protection to internal infections
I would say talk to a gyno first see what they suggest and in meantime get a little portable biday to get the area clean I got one called happypo on Amazon and definitely been helpful in reducing any sweat or buildup in that area you could mix water with some Hibiscrub if your trying to reduce any infection and just wear cotton and breathable fibres also possibly look into getting some supplements for that area to boost your immunity probiotic if your fighting any bacterial infection Hope this helps :)
Yeah, like that one!! I personally have thicker thighs lol so I bought a taller one to get my chub off of my healing areas 😂😂

Okay you are convincing me! is it this type of thing?
this one has a strap too which seems good because my concern was that i would still be changing positions
Oh I understand! You of course don't have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. I just remembered that you are from Germany, and if I remember right the kinds of tampons they use there are the kind without applicator and you insert it yourself with fingers. Do you think you'd feel more comfortable using the type that comes with a plastic applicator? I find that they slide in and back out very easily without any tugging, but I know that most Europeans balk at applicator tampons haha. This is the brand I've used since I was a teenager
I bought some pads from Amazon which turn in to ice pack! Life saver - when I ran out, I put peas in a bag :)

I bought perineal ice packs and they were AMAZING and SO COMFORTABLE. I highly highly highly recommend them. Specifically I used these
Yes, I had the same experience, it's so frustrating and uncomfortable! It took a lot of trial and error to see what kinds of underwear worked for me. I had a few random hits and misses from various brands, but the kind I kept going back to was this Maidenform cotton bikini. It comes in 3-packs of varying colors and patterns, and I think you can still find them at Kohl's and Ross although they aren't on the Maidenform website anymore. It looks awful on the model here, they look better in person and on my non-model body imo! But at least you can see from the model photo that it has a wide crotch that allows for a little pocket for the extra lip volume, and I like that the elastic around the leg holes is thin: I think it helps create a tighter barrier at your leg-crotch-junction so that a lip won't as easily slip out of and get pinched. Keeps everything contained.
If these aren't cute and fun enough then I understand, but maybe at least the tip for looking for wide crotches with thin leg elastic can be something to watch out for when shopping in cuter brands!
Hi!!! Boy oh boy do I have a recommendation. So my labia would always hang out and underwear never has room. Honestly don’t want these undies to sell out but Iris & Lilly Women's Cotton and Lace Thong, Pack of 5 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076ZQKFGY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_0PHR04NV1HWSP9VQE7S2?psc=1 these are fantastic!! They appear narrow, but fit really well and hold everything in place! Don’t try to size down to anything tight, because it will slip out. But these are comfy and roomy and breathable.
YES. I posted about these pants below!!
I know amazon is not a great solution. But at the time I couldn’t really get out.
These pants are AMAZING. Got them in black. I sized up. I’m 5 1, and once I washed / dried them they shrunk enough to be flowy and cute. Drawstring is so helpful too. Because they’re so flowy, the crotch hangs low enough to not touch you but they’re still flattering. It’s wonderful for recovery.
I still wear them to gatherings with a tight black top and I always get compliments!

You're welcome! I waited until all the stitches were gone and the incisions seemed completely healed so that I was pretty sure what I was seeing was indeed actually fully formed scar tissue: about 8 weeks post-op. I used this stuff. I'm not sure the risk of a UTI, I did not get one, but if you are worried you could maybe shop around for one that is in a squeeze tube (Mederma?) instead of roller-ball, since I think there would be less chance of bacteria getting rolled back up into the tube. Just use clean fingers and avoid the inner mucous-membrane parts with the urethra, I think it would hopefully be safe!
That's very frustrating, I'm so sorry you went through that. Hindsight is 20/20 and all, but this is why I try to stress to presurgery posters to fully discuss with the surgeon what will be done, intents, goals, and things like that. Him making assumptions about your "tightness" is subjective and, honestly, just kind of gross to me? Like, fuck off and do what we asked for?? But what is done is done, I hope your recovery is otherwise uneventful after this initial bump.
Bleeding and pain is still normal this early. It's going to get easier! It was almost exponential for me, how much pain improved from day 1, 2, 3, to 4. Since your incisions go farther back than most users here, I'd recommend being on a steady dose of stool softeners and laxatives to make it easier to pass for the next week or so. (Run all new OTC medications by your doctor first, but this is what I would suggest looking into for your comfort!) Peri bottle for rinsing after as well. And a panty-pad that holds ice packs in a little pocket could be a good idea. They are sold to postpartum mothers so you might find them in your local pharmacy or at least Amazon.
100% recommend a donut pillow. Takes the pressure off your bits when you sit which... You're gonna want it anytime you sit. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000G015XA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_HTTT8EYR3EHE1MQAQ7A3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 This is the one I got. It's like my new buddy! And my cats fight over it when I'm not using it! Haha!
I used this one, it had pretty good reviews. The roller ball was hard to use on some parts so it might work better to put it on your finger and apply it manually.
Maybe scar tissue? It should definitely soften with time. I used a scar gel for a while, and my scars have all gone away, but I'm not sure if that is due to time or the gel. Some people also recommend scar massage but I'm not very familiar with it.
Congrats on scheduling!!
These ice packs that are reusable were incredible for me first 5 days:
I also honestly didn’t wear underwear at the beginning. I just went commando and ordered a pair of super soft very loose / baggy cotton pants from Amazon a size up and wore them.
Definitely get a peri bottle:
That one worked well for me. Use it starting the first time you pee post surgery!
A donut pillow also helps (round with a cut out in the middle) if you will need to sit up right anytime before week 3.
If you smoke, DEFINITELY stop now. And plan to not smoke for 8 weeks at least following. It’s worth it!
I also didn’t drink alcohol the week leading up or two weeks after.
I also stocked up on Turmeric health juice shots that apparently help with inflammation! I’d drink one in the morning.
