You got a good deal. It’s $45 on Amazon. JIANGNIU Alunite Crystal Mineral Specimen Point Healing Light-Purple JN02-LP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NKGC3T3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PO-EDbMBRTJZB Also don’t get it wet. It will dissolve.
All geodes are unique, so they’re not going to be identical, but similar. Like siblings. For example, Las Choyas geodes commonly have blueish tinged interiors, but not all will have the black needle-like inclusions/formations that are present in this particular geode. Some will have larger, more cavernous interiors with large terminated points while some will be shallower and have bubbly looking chalcedony formations. You just never really know until you open it! There is plenty of room for variety in geodes from the same mine.
Here is a link to a product on Amazon that sources their geodes in the kit from “multiple mines”. Personally, if I’m going to put in the effort to open one myself, I prefer to open geodes that are 2.5” across or more. I find that anything smaller is a pain to make halves out of. It’s one thing if you want to HULK SMASH SEE PRETTY ROCKS vs opening more carefully for displaying.
Just looks like some titanium coated quartz. Pretty cheap online: https://www.amazon.com/rockcloud-Titanium-Decoration-Gemstone-Specimen/dp/B01G3EECXM
These are completely man made and not natural at all (besides the quartz base).
I love it! You must have hung the minerals on the top edges yourself. Looks great
I found it here for those asking
Cavallini Papers & Co. Cavallini Vintage Mineralogie Hanging Poster https://www.amazon.com/dp/1635440084/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1WajDbC3S9EEQ
I’m just using a cheap-y one I got from Amazon. It’s more of a toy than anything professional at all, but it is fun to play around with. It’s a little tricky to get a good focus and I wish the pics were higher resolution, but I’m enjoying it. :)
here is the link.
In the original, they have a video on how they made it and their model sanded down really well. But they also used an industrial resin-jet printer.
I gave mine a honeycomb infill, so I'm not sure what it will look like sanded. I might give it a try if I get bored.
I got mine on Amazon -
Himalayan Glow 1050 Natural Selenite Lamp, 7-9 inch, (5-7 lbs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GTM6MD8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_t9LOCbS59E9BZ
However, I caught it on sale for less than half what it is now. I saw it go on sale twice so maybe keep an eye!
Its actually marketed as a cupcake stand! here is the one i have but if you also search cupcake stand or desktop bookshelf on amazon some great options come up!
One of the things I do is take photos of very small things with complex surfaces. I found this book really useful.
It's expensive so I highly suggest going to your local library and requesting it through interlibrary loan. It's an excellent resource.
gorgeous one!
Would placing it in a vacuum chamberhelp with the water trapped inside?
Thank you. Believe it or not, it’s just a simple lens attachment for my phone. Here’s a link…
Different minerals glow at different UV frequencies. This is a good beginners longwave UV light.

A good shortwave UV light will cost a bit more.

Gotta get cha one of these goose neck phone holder. Makes things a lot easier for us folks with decrepit(or multitasking) hands lol. I use one when I'm messing with my microscope. It's generic but works great!
Another fascinating post! Have a great night
Amazon or wish. Just depends on how patient you are. Here are the ones I like in particular. There large and fun to open.
Sorry I'm not being very clear I buy the sealed formaldehyde preserved shell, mussel, and pearl. I open the mussels to get to the pearls. Some are natural colored or just natural pearls and some are dyed pearls. I get them from Amazon or wish.
Typically I'll buy the below link if I don't go through wish.
10PCS 7.5-8mm Small Edison Pearls Natural Color Oysters with Pearls Inside https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095HC7H3W/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_KJM0S4S6X04FED9JYWVX
Hope this is okay. I've gotten questions ony display shelves before. This seems like a great option for variable sizes of rocks. Multikeep Adjustable Shelf - Spice Rack, Floating Shelf, Figurine Shelf, Shadow Box or Drawer Organizer - for Wall Mount, Counter Top, Cabinet or Drawers - Bamboo Wood - Cookbook People https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FNSHLT3/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_0RXC3K33QTQNGXB0FCQC
Tint would work, but there are optically clear anti-UV options as well. 👍🏻
I love this! A pro tip if you can you should print/write those labels on card stock or something heavier still. Another nice touch could be just gluing them to a little piece of wood or even slate.
Edit: something like this could be cool too!
SmartSign Pack of 25 Magnetic 'C' Channel Label Holders | 0.5" x 2" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00895V3TK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_g6.9FbSGFMSRJ
They bought the entire package up at the mine in Butte, MT.
Something like this might work?
Yeah, I'm just using a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PQ9XV2E with its built-in light. A lot of the time the only possible lighting is in an awkward position so I tend to just go for what I can get.
Maybe I should just let the batteries die a bit? lol
