I paid 99 bucks for mine, but I was looking for it quickly... Make sure you get a cheap mic stand and a boom. 100 bucks and you will be ready to go in no time.
This mic really impressed me on how it handles loud drums and quiet guitar. (not at the same time obviously) Most cheap mics will over load when you try to play loud into it, this one does not have that problem at all. Just remember to get another extra long (13ft) USB-A Cable.
According to some reviews on trust pilot (a very reliable source) https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.musicgateway.com I would think they are a pretty reliable service.
I feel it’s loud enough, but the vocals are recorded in a voice that sounds like he’s trying not to wake up his girlfriend. Put some emotion and loudness in your voice, and then turn it down in the mix a bit (just don’t redline obv).
Also, you gotta work on that song structure, song has no direction. See https://www.masterclass.com/articles/songwriting-101-learn-common-song-structures#what-makes-a-song
Nonetheless, I give you (OP) this feedback not to criticize but because you have potential and I think you can get somewhere if you keep working on it.
Took me a few more days to get back to you than I'd like, but I have added a solo and the completed track is here: Feeling It. You may be able to tell that I'm not much of a bassist; the solo is fairly rudimentary.
The stems will appear in this folder once I've finished uploading them, which I can hopefully leave to run over night since it's approaching 1am for me.
For something paid, 8Dio's VSTI guitars sound pretty good and they have a wide range depending on style. http://8dio.com/instrument-category/guitars/
For something free, you can get Kontakt Player and the factory library--the guitar sounds are not great, and IIRC they're only in standard guitar range (maybe they allow drop D, but not much in the way of lower tunings), but they should be better than the Guitar Pro engine. My current work flow is to sketch songs in Guitar Pro, export, use Kontakt while programming drums, and then go back and track the live guitars and bass. http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/samplers/kontakt-5-player/kontakt-factory-selection/
For either of them, they probably have a lot of articulations that will make things sound better but that would require work on your part because they won't translate directly from the MIDI, but if you're just looking for something a little better to jam along to then maybe the unarticulated version will be fine.
Of course! What DAW do you use? I'm learning about music to, I just wish I had the right equipment to do custom jobs. I use cakewalk
What I found extremely useful during Covid is a new application, called Kodai. You can find new fellow musicians with shared workspaces and it allows collaboration with your band members and also to write songs and create together. Here is the link for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kodai.kodaiapp2 and IOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/id1518032115
I've been really enjoying this one for voice:
it's high now, but i bought mine for 79.99 a couple of years ago and have been using it ever since. Warning - NOT usb. It's meant to use with an interface which can be hinderingly expensive.
If you're wanting to go usb around $100, i'd just grab a yeti or a snowball
Ah, i see. The answer here is you don't have to use the included cable. It only consumes 4.5W and will will have the same performance over a usb3.0 A port. You just need to get an A to C cable and plug it into an open port.
If your have no open usb 3.0 A ports then you can use that cable with a usb-c hub with passthrough power... Plug your power cord into the hub, the power and data will pass through to your laptop, and the regular A ports will work with your interface.
That one was unpowered...i was thinking power passthrough.
I'm not sure if it exists. Usb-c spec lets devices request their voltage, draw, and bitrate... A hub couldn't handle having a couple of 65w laptops connected without it being a very serious and expensive device... Having more than 2 is chaos. The market just doesn't exist for the hundreds of dollars that would cost in parts.
What device needs more than passthrough power provides?
As a wacky solution you might be able to run multiple laptop chargers to a daisy chain of 2 port hubs each with passthrough power... But it sounds like multiple laptop chargers is what you're trying to avoid
I thought i found something but it only powers the usb-a ends.. Sneaky advertising:
Can't vouch for how dependable it is but https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09M7W9MZ7/
There are technical issues with reducing multiple USB C devices to a single port, so you're not going to find much. Plenty have a C passthrough with an additional C charging only port.
Invest 10 years at minimum before you think about quitting. Most important: don‘t think as a musician, think like a biz man if you wanna make a living. You need a vision, a strategy and a roadmap to develop, market and sell your product.
Use youtube to publish you results to create a tribe / community of super fans that like to support you with money.

here you go. Can you email me the completed song when you add vocals, as well as just the vocal track so I can edit it if need be.

Songwriter here. I play acoustic guitar and just started playing electric. I love noodling on piano. For me I am interested most in melody, both lyrically and musically. I have a background in literature so my songs are typically very story- and character-driven. Right now I am working on a novelistic western album.
I'll copy and paste from the other comment:
I'd really appreciate it! Here's an mp3 not mixed yet and without the voice, tell me if you need and I will record it and send it again but I don't think you'll have problems. The song basically goes Dmaj7 l Amaj7 but the trombone part is Dmaj7 l Dmaj7 l Amaj7 l Amaj7. Here's a live version with a trumpet player (couldn't find a trombone). You can do whatever you want on the solo part or not playing at all. Thanks a lot! https://www.mediafire.com/?9wnmcjmqhptkebe[1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsofudxUWOM[2]
Do you happen write songs/lyrics as well? Feel free to browse my SoundCloud, just be aware it's a lot of random weirdness. There's also more... uhm, vocal thing we're making with a fellow redditor from r/MITM here. If that sounds good to you, let me know, just be aware I suck at lyrics so it's better if you do the writing part :D
Heres what I came up with in a little more then two hours
I didn't warp the track so minor timing issues can be heard. I do play drums but was too lazy to hook everything up but I think the bongos sounded better for this type of song, even though they're midi. I did my best to get rid of that hiss in the background. What did you record with? Record your lead and rhythm guitars and vocals on separate tracks so you can mix them better. Its a great song man, those lead melodies got stuck in my head.
Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you. I've added your drums and I'm fairly happy with how it sounds. If you want to take a bash at mixing it the stems are here. I haven't finished uploading them all yet but they should be there in a couple of hours. Feel free to post the song and link elsewhere if you want to see what others come up with in terms of mixing/mastering.

Here it is. Some words are slightly out of not or out of time, but I hope it's enough
Thank you so much! The producer of "Yesterday's Future" is indeed super talented and was one of the producers I found on Upwork.com. At the time he worked on my album, his rate was only USD25/hr so that was very affordable since he creates tracks super fast. But now he's wanting to charge me USD500 per song. I managed to cough up the funds to produce one more single ("Fault Line" which is also on my Spotify) but I can no longer afford it and I'm not generating enough streams or interest in the music that's on the platforms. These days I'm focusing on collaborating with musicians on Reddit. Would you mind sending me your work? Would love to hear it!
Definitely! Check out our iRig Mic if you want to get better quality recordings with an external mic. Its been reviewed by Gizmodo and countless other sites and compared side by side and the iRig Mic sounds noticeably better. :) Of and we also have a free app for recording you can check out with our new iRig Recorder for the iRig Mic or even our AmpliTube series on iOS have built in recorders! :D
Cool guitar jamming and great tone! :)
Don't listen to that guy. There's obviously something wrong with him since he felt the need to be so mean. You definitely don't deserve that! I'm new to producing and song writing and would love to work with you! The stuff I make is mostly pop/edm, sometimes with rap and r&b influences. Maybe we can start a project together. I don't have anything posted on Sound Cloud yet, but I have a few projects started on BandLab. I wouldn't mind letting you hear some of what I've been working on.
Don't worry man. Check this out:

Those are free online music creation programs or digital audio workstations.
You can use them to create your own beats, record your voice, etc.
could you download it? It should be pretty eassy, I use this extension, lets you download mp3 just by clicking nxt to the video: https://addoncrop.com/youtube_video_downloader/
All right, just to test, I'm going to link a logic file, tell me if you can open it and it plays with no problems (it's just a song I started writing a while ago and sort of stalled on)
Sounds good, and thanks! I don't have any subject in mind, I'll leave it up to you.
The higher quality .wav file is available to download from my original link, it's currently free on bandcamp. When you get to the download page there's a format dropdown.
I've also uploaded it here for anyone: https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads/66ec199af55a484d0454ba1624276eaf20161218022155/dec22691962cd5de32b87d06b39e7f8f20161218022155/33f2bd

This site is cool, it gives you a lot of options. Sort of like dropbox, I like that you can send something to someone and then have it so it expires after an allotted amount of time.
This book was a gamechanger for me. One of the best activities in there is smashing together a list of completely unrelated adjectives and nouns which causes you to start thinking of some metaphors to use

If it is any help: there is a 20 dollar condenser microphone on amazon which sounds good enough if your starting out. Maybe look into that! As I said, you don’t need anything major in quality. As long as it is good enough. You definitely need to do some eq and compression to make it sound decent for the mix but it’s a start at least. the mic
If that doesn't open, samples can be heard on Amazon, GooglePlay, iTunes, etc..
