Get him some Immortals! They are our bread and butter 'Troops' choice, and will give him the opportunity to run squads of Warriors larger than just 10. Immortals only go up to a squad size of 10, so 2 boxes of 5 is perfect (you can frequently find them new-in-box on Amazon cheaper than games workshop's website)
Alternatively if you think he'd like something more unique than foot soldiers, get him a set of Canoptek Wraiths. They look wicked cool and are one of our only fast units
and a bunch of good cover to just sprinkle everywhere. Hope theses all help!
Yes, cutting just the face off would be a much simplier conversion!
This might also be something to consider (from another thread below)... https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/space-zombies-skinny-wraiths
Hey, thanks! It is 3d printed, I paid someone to print it for me as I did not have the kit of the overlord with the scythe. Here is the link: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/necron-weapon-set
I also got the big axe 3d printed :). They are really cool and I like them more than most of the original overlord weaponry
Here’s the 12mm dice, I’m a big fan of mine, they really do pop.
The lights each have their own batteries, they're all individual. You can get them in all different colors as well, heres the amazon link it you're interested.

Some good choices here, however I'll add my two cents in for "Biostrip 20". It's completely non toxic, no fumes (like the isopropyl alcohol) and smells like Marzipan. I know most Golden Demon winners use it if they need to strip a model and start again, and it's really economic : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Biostrip-Stripper-remover-solution-effortlessly/dp/B00B4WK17K/ref=asc\_df\_B00B4WK17K/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309904160813&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=18095654147836426921&hvpone=&hvpt...
Thanks - I don’t think it’s the ideal setup but it’s 2 standing LED lights intended to be set up on the back of an HD tv. I got them for $38 during a deal and see they are prices higher now so perhaps look for comparables.
I simply rigged them facing the backlight in a pretty unsophisticated manner

This is what I use to scribble in cultic nonsense or fake writing on purity seals, scrolls, and you can kind of blend in the details with decals and transfers of cultic scrawling. I suspect you might be able to paint the white skull and then notch with this black pen to get that shape. The florals and designs you could used a colored micron pen and a magnifying stand to achieve. I really think brushes at this size are the wrong tool!
I personally use this guy https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lord-Rings-Gulavhar-Terror-Arnor/dp/B000N4N5O6
Originally got him to use as a home brew c’tan, now run him as either the generic or Nightbringer (casual games only)
I use Really Useful Boxes (they're on amazon too but at a ~50% markup), 4L for troops/scarabs and 9L for anything skorpekh size or taller. I put these on the bottom of each case and N52 magnets under my bases. I specifically use those sheets because they're magnetically receptive but not magnetic so I don't have to care about the polarity of my base magnets.
O ive had that issue with other necrons before and custom marines. The solition i found to make it legit easy was This specific Super glue it takes 24 hours to dry but it sets and stays strong on about 10-15 seconds and unlike other glues it shrinks not expands as it dries . I will shill this glue to anyone who plays necrons its a god send
I got this one here. It's currently on sale for 20$. Comes with a few different colored backgrounds and a built in light but works pretty well for the cost. I may try to find a deeper black background but part of me kind of likes the texture.
Green stuff will fix it. You make a putty and sculpt it into the shape you want. You can get it from Army Painter.

Ill look into pigment podwer, I have never used it before. Any recomendations?
Looks like mine. I love it!
You should add the sparkling gloss. Looks better IRL.
I've just started airbrushing with this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Timbertech-Airbrush-Compressor-Accessories-Nozzles/dp/B00LO4PKY2/ref=asc_df_B00LO4PKY2/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=294750500521&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11771605536151397195&hvpone=&hvp...
It seems fairly decent and a good starting point. I've been using it to do terrain so far so should be fine for priming. My only comment is that the receiver (or reservoir) on it isn't especially big so the compressor has to kick in quote often
Did a search, and it's the goddamned legend that made the Payed Ones.
From looking at his other models he's going for models that are definitely reminiscent of both Necrons and Tomb Kings, but on his own vibe, pretty much losing the Terminator vibes, interesting, not my preferred style but definitely would like to see on the other side of the table or as allies
Thank you so much! I have them up on my Cults store for those who own 3D printers Here... If you don't own one, I can be of assistance - feel free to message me about that.
If it helps, you can get some pretty cheap flexible/over-head desk lamps that work really well for painting. I used to wait for sunny days too but when it got dark I got a lamp and I now use it even when it's really sunny.
I got this one for about £30 (seems to have gone up in price) but there are others on there that look pretty good for cheaper.
Sorry novice here but can this be used for brush painting too or is it airbrush only?
Yes link to file
Proxy for Illuminor Szeras link to close ups
It's one of the Mcfarlane action figures. Some of them come unpainted so you can customize them and make them match your army! Here's the one I got:
https://www.amazon.com/McFarlane-Toys-Warhammer-Necron-Flayed/dp/B08X8WYDYR
I 3d modelled and printed this Tomb Stalker (as part of my army and I'll use 3 of them) and painted with my custom scheme.
The base is made both with GSW rolling pins and a Horus base borrowed by a friend who didn't used it.
The file is on sale here https://cults3d.com/en/users/HandsomeFred
As promised last week, I added the files for the stalker variant of the Tomb Centipede :D
color wheels can be a useful tool to mess around with different schemes. If you want to keep that shade of purple/gold, mess around with the drop down menu to see how the colors are related. A Gold/Pink/Purple scheme is asymmetric but definitely can still work if it’s what you’re into! But if you’re looking for more balance you may want to tweak it a bit.
>If the budget for receiving gifts is big enough, for sure.
I've been pretty impressed with this one so far and it's around the cost of a box of miniatures. No idea how long it'll last, but it'll get OP started for sure.
I bought this cheap toolbox from Amazon: toolbox then glued some magnetic sheets on the floor of the various sections and also cylindric magnets on the bottom of the miniature bases. It works pretty well and is easy to carry without damaging your minis total price might be around 50 euros
There is a “sandstone” thing you can do for necron that is pretty cool. There is some tutorials on YouTube.
Otherwise, https://color.adobe.com/ is a great place to look for color schemes and combinations.
What do you wanna do with your Necrons? What colors and look would you prefer?
What I do is go to Encycolorpedia and put in the name of the main paint I'm going to use (the gold in your case). That will give me the hex value of the paint. With that value I head over to Abode Color, select triad and put the hex number as the middle point.
From there I can select any of the resulting values and head back over to encycolorpedia to see if the selected hex has equivalent paints.
I like the kitbashes! I should get on that as well.
Hmm, never thought of what would go with pink, but I think filling in details (joints, ribcages) and edge highlights will fix the blandness of monocolor.
Maybe take a gander at a few combinations on a color wheel to see what colors could work.
I think that the cryptek's gold works well for a good start.
I was using this stuff with a "deadly nightshade" undercoat. Looks 3D, really cool for that part of the flyer. I think I will do the same for my monolith next.
Super easy to drop a neodymium magnet in the base, just takes a fat drop of super glue and leave it to dry for a few hours so it doesn't stain anything with off-gassing - just leave it on its side and it should be fine, but I try to magnetize my bases before I even assemble or glue anything down. This leaves about a 1mm gap between the magnet and the surface, so using too little super glue could lead to some magnets coming off fairly easily. You could also use putty/green stuff to make them flush-fit, but superglue's quick & easy.
If you're looking for magnet recommendations, I use these. Just 1 does it for anything 32mm and under, and I like to go for 2 with 40-60mm, depending on the model. If I had to do it all over again, tho, I'd prob pick up some 8x2mm as well as 6x2mm; the 8s would be more versatile and require less magnets on larger minis, not to mention give smaller minis all the grip you could ever need.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KJ9H31P/
You can use a tiny drill to drill out smaller holes in their feet and insert 3x2mm or 2x2mm magnets to magnetize them to the larger base, but that's a lot more involved than I care to get; I magnetize weapons on things like Annihilation Barges or Triarch Stalkers, but beyond that I just plastic glue everything in.
Here are the magnets I used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084NZKXKN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and to put them in - once you have the death ray and the teleportal thingie built, you see how they have a peg that goes into a hole in a groove under the croissant. I filled the hole with greenstuff and embedded a magnet before it hardened. The I snipped the pegs on the ray and the portal.drilled a hole and put a corresponding magnet there. And voila!
Glaze consistency is what you need to take advantage of the undercoat. But for regular brush work it‘s not worth the struggle. Maybe try inks. I can recommend the ones from liquitex they are very transparent
I used the Vallejo ones amazon link
to be specific I used Dark Green Tin (77.018)
For Agrellan Earth (the dried/cracked mud one) I use Crackle Paste. Just make sure to lay it on thick and a coat of thinned PVA glue after it dries will help protect it.
https://www.amazon.com/Golden-35575-Crackle-Paste-8-ounce/dp/B002646MT6/
I also use normal premixed grout mixed with some acrylic medium (the large bottle from the craft store, not lahmian medium) to get the consistency right for brushing onto bases for sand or dirt very similar to Armageddon Dust. You can even sculpt it into rocks and things depending on the consistency. I picked mine up at home depot in the tile section, this is the same one.
https://www.amazon.com/Custom-PMG165QT-1-Quart-Premium-Delorean/dp/B001XQ42ZY/
Both of these take much longer to dry than the GW ones, so be prepared to test your patience.
I'll always recommend Vallejo's Thick Mud product in the place of GW texture paints. The consistency is chunkier than GW's, which makes it a nice simulation of rough earth, if a bit more difficult to work with.
Thanks! Its just a fluorescent green TPU filament, pretty good size for most tubes, would need to run it down in size in a 3d printer for some of the smaller tubes if you have that ability. I like the TPU cause it is very flexible.

That's the guy i got. Has a good sample of a lot of cosmic stuff. All the colors are really nice. I did the paint right on top of black primer and got that nice blue/purple
Damn, I JUST bought these necron-y dice from my LGS yesterday, I’m always so behind on my 40k news lol.
This green?
It doesn't appear to look like yours at all?
If you really like citadel paints, you can always transfer them to these dropper bottles: https://www.amazon.com/Wowlife-Plastic-Squeezable-Dropper-Bottles/dp/B00V1X1M02/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=plastic%2Bdropper%2Bbottle&qid=1597447152&sr=8-8&th=1
I have a bunch of them for premixed and prethinned paints, as well as homemade washes, alcohol, and just water. I don't use many Citadel paints, but that's because I mostly prefer Vallejo, though I do like a couple of them and I just transfer what I can with a cheap eyedropper from the pot to the bottle.
Can’t you use a flow aid to help the transfer? All the tutorials I’ve seen suggest using one
Vallejo makes a black metallic in their model air that is pretty good for this. Might give you the look you are after. I ordered some on Amazon a while back, but I’m only finding a metallic paint set that contains it now.
Vallejo Metallic Set Model Air Paint, 17ml, 16-Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001G6NH1G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZPf1EbHZYJEZ1
I found mini red tealights on amazon. The insides are completely hollow but taper up, so normal size tealights don't fit. I believe I got these:
According to the amazon reviews, these match the necron warrior rods and you can get them in different colors. I just ordered blue but haven't got them yet so I can't say for sure
I got ahold of some scrap wrenwood. It's used in making prototype tools in machining. Granted, this could be done with wood as well. Used a 2.5" holesaw to pop out the main body and a 1.15" holesaw for the center. I used a dado blade at 1" depth and 5/16ths" wide for the large horizontal channel and 1/2" depth with 1/8th" width to do the vertical channel. After that I threw it on a lathe to take about a 1/16" off the outside to avoid hand sanding it smooth. I used these green tea lights I found on Amazon (they glow a much darker green than the pictures show) : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071NLZ4TX/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_5JVnEbBQZVTWZ
I plan on gluing large washers to the bottom so they can be picked up light and all. Atm it's a light sitting inside a ring. I also painted the inside white then a sickly green to allow the light to bounce a bit.

I plan on lighting all three of my monoliths and I bought a few things to make it happen. If anyone is interested I'll do a tutorial. I plan on magnetizing the lighting so any of it can be changed out.
I plan on using this https://www.amazon.com/Heroclix-Marvel-Avengers-Assemble-Complete/dp/B00Z99816M/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1526323537&sr=8-2&keywords=korvac+heroclix I really like the way it looks.I just got mine its actually a good size model I plan on putting it on one of the pins from the destroyers to have it flying.
