Hey r/NewSkaters,
I ended up with a pair of shoes that are too small for me. I can't return them, but I can't use them. I know there's a lot of younger kids on this sub, and I'm a smaller size so I'm hoping maybe someone who needs them and can really get use out of them could take them, no charge. They're Adidas Busenitz Vulc in red, mens 5.5/womens 7
I have a link to some pics of the shoes here: more pics. I only wore them once or twice and skated in them a little bit, but there's very minimal wear.
Sadly I would only be able to ship them within the US. Just send me a PM and we can work something out!
*also sorry mods if this isn't allowed or something, I'm not sure what to do with them and I'd love to help out a fellow skater
They have trainers now that seriously helped me get my pop back after 7 years of not boarding. These are magical. The transition to moving tricks feel amazing.
As long as its still grippy it should be fine. I've had some ugly ass grip before, mud and dirt stuck everywhere but it still worked so I kept it.
The Grip Gum u/tangoRhubarb mentioned can be found for cheap if you look up "Sanding Belt Cleaner".
Here's it on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/POWERTEC-71002-Abrasive-Cleaning-Stick/dp/B00AJW0CY8?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1
Yeah, it probably is some sort of resin or glue with a bunch of solids mixed in. There is clear griptape that exists! Here's a link to some (it's a Canadian amazon link so you'll have to find the uk equivalent)
Black Diamond 10x48" Colors (Single Sheet) Clear https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01GGS494M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dph0Bb4FC55BN
I think you should swap it out, the griptape that comes with cruisers can be less than ideal. I don't know how hard it will be to remove the grip on your board, maybe investigate youtube and see if you can find a solution there?
Also- side note- if you haven't replaced the bearings I'd reccomend switching them to reds bearings or something similar to that, because the bearings that come with complete decks can be awful.
you can buy this kit from amazon or you can follow this tutorial and DIY with a trip to Home Depot and some old Coke bottles.
BLVD 8.0 Deck Silver trucks FKD Bearings BLVD Wheels FKD Grip 42.28 w/prime shipping
BluePrint 8.5 Tracker Trucks Abec 3 bearings Probably Blueprint wheels as well. 34.25 w/ prime shipping
if you slum through amazon you can find deals on pre built completes. Obviously you're not getting parts from the hottest brands (ex: tracker is a legit truck company, BUT really no many people ride tracker, unless they're getting a retro/nestolgia board) but for a beginner it's fine.
$400 is way too steep, I bought mine for $150 new. Amazon has some for less than $100 too that look good.
Actually ordered some just the other day. They're on the way.

Black/Tan, size M11.5. Opinions?
If you mean something like this, you should be fine for some basics, but tricks will be easier on a regular skateboard if you want to do flip tricks etc... A lot of tricks were actually invented on those older pool skateboards before the 90's, check out this infographic with the evolution of skateboard shapes.
You can buy a complete setup fairly cheap (around $70 and up for some decent components, can get cheaper to like $40-50 if you bargain bin dive for sales, or around $120-150 for top of the line parts with all the gimmicks and technology).
If you've been cruising around on a pool skateboard from getting it as a gift, maybe you're just ready to move into skateboarding. My first board ever was a cheap Wal-Mart deck which was a gift for Christmas, got hurt on a few times & then someone who actually skateboarded told me it sucked and it went uphill from there.
I've had trouble with front 180 to fakie manual, but I've found switch 180 to manual to be easier. If you have time, here is a video I filmed and edited where I do both switch 180 manual, and sw 180 manual 180 out. I'm the first skater.
You are right about big spins. I love bs spinspin, but my goto is switch frontside bigspin because the front foot is good at scooping switch trick. I think I do one in the video as well.
Don't get discouraged. Learning how to ollie will definitely open up the park for you. Whether it be skate trainers, learning on low grass or half of your board off concrete or that kid padding on playgrounds (good way to learn), invest in the ollie and those kickturns without inclines. Watch tutorials. Soon you'll figure it out then you'll figure it out on the move. if you're ever in NYC let me know i'll give you some in person tutorials. Might help to see if there is a meetup.com in your hood for beginner skaters. It's fun to learn with someone on your level. I think there are few things in life as fun as S.K.A.T.E with one or two people around your skill level or slightly better.
Yeah not a bad idea. I decided to look into it too.. but all the LED wheels I saw were the soft ones for cruisers and longboards.
However, check it out:
https://www.amazon.com/Board-Blazers-Underglow-Skateboards-Longboards/dp/B008AJYRRA/
Get these trainers and screw all the grass advice. You’ll spend more on new wheels and bearings than the $20 on these. This will also actually teach you on actual ground. Takes a little effort to get them over your wheels the first few times.
Also, jump higher. Bring your knees up. Try to level out the board in air and land flat. Then you’ll be able to do it rolling.
You can buy a complete set from Amazon for about 50 usd.
JBM Child & Adults Rider Series Protection Gear Set for Multi Sports Scooter, Skateboarding, Biking, Roller Skating, Protection for Beginner to Advanced, Helmet, Knee and Elbow Pads with Wrist Guards https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VVG2H4B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_MQNQGFV8E2ZHSGHTJZMC
I bought something similar to this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006SOJFDA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8FRYAFC2JH808FXA5GQN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 at Walmart and it’s working great for me. I can fit all my hardware and a pair of trucks. Two pair of trucks if I force it enough.
There are two options, the cheaper one buying a complete pre built, or the higher quality one building your own. If your on a budget I’d recommend getting a good pre built cuz it will make your learning experience better. A good pre built I could recommend are globe skateboards which will come around 80-90 bucks and is available on Amazon. A complete you can go on skatewearhouse and buy all the parts seperarly. This is what most skaters and advanced skaters use due to their higher durability. These are 150-200 usually for a really good setup. Just ask if you want any recommendations for brands if u choose a complete setup. Good luck
Globe Goodstock https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KSL7JNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_5SJG99BVREDPNRBHJGYE?psc=1
i use these. they're definitely frayed after a while but still haven't broken on me and i've skated with them a lot. i would highly recommend getting them cause they'll last longer than regular ones. worked better for me at least.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PDWM3N4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Yeah I did look at craigslist but they are all charging $70+ for there boards which at that point I'd rather go to Zumiez. But I did find another board on Amazon that look's alright, What do you think of this one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IZH0DXY/ref=twister_B00LGXT8UI?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
> skatehut.co.uk
Looking through the site, wow... I didn't realize how hard VAT hit you for those US brand trucks. I need to do more research on trucks available in the UK. The prices for the brands I mentioned are totally unreasonable over there. Reading reviews about Enuff doesn't build my confidence in them, though, so I'd still steer clear if you can swing the cash.
Edit: maybe check Amazon? I found some reasonably priced 8" Independent trucks with free delivery on the UK Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Independent-Stage-11-Standard-Truck/dp/B00APL6OY0
I'm not a pro or anything but I went with a certified helmet. skateboard/bike. https://smile.amazon.com/Triple-Eight-Certified-Helmet-Rubber/dp/B00M569K6M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496012092&sr=8-1&keywords=triple%2B8%2Bcertified%2Bhelmet&th=1&psc=1
Pro-tech, triple 8, 187 pads and TSG. In that order of lowest price to highest price. but the 187 and TSG get pricey but are amazing quality from what I hear. All can be found on amazon.
Im in the same boat. Im 27 and want to keep skating as long as I can, so I'd rather be fully padded and look like an old dork than end up hobbling around on busted shins and ankles.
Found these padded guards on amazon and think ill give em a try if there arent any better suggestions:
ProForce Shin Guards - Black - Medium https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086OIL6C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fzuAzbQ6SQ6GB
Make sure to post in the daily discussion or it'll get removed. But in my non-expert opinion, those look like trash. You'll need to ask yourself what kind of longboard do you want (dance, downhill, freeride, freestyle, cruiser variant, etc). Then how much you're willing to pay. /r/longboarding has a hard on for Landyachtz and the Dinghy gets pushed a lot to people wanting a solid cruiser. Personally I'd probably opt for the Tugboat, but that's because I'm a fat fuck who likes stability. I have a freeride deck and a squared tail cruiser (although it has similar dimensions to a normal skateboard, cruisers are technically longboards). They'll probably tell you to avoid pin tail decks and mini cruisers, but depending on what you're using it for it e won't matter too too much. Personally, I'm not a big fan of either, so I avoid both shapes.
If you want a cheap and decent check out Sector 9's Amazon page. They price match automatically, and sometimes you'll get a steal. I got a mini cruiser (which I got rid of almost instantly) for $37 and the square tail cruiser for under $60 which was around the price for the set of wheels as bearings I was looking at for my hybrid deck.
Globe is decent, but avoid brands like Quest. They're trash.
keep in mind the amazon price is from TGM skateboards.. which is a shop in michigan
so they are paying the equivalent of around $36 US here is a pair indy 139s on amazon from TGM for $35 with free shipping in the US now keep in mind the UK amazon listing is not free shipping it's £12... this brings the price above $52US and then chances are they may need to pay import tax after that
so for OP... since the amazon item would be shipping from a US based seller in Michigan it would be a good idea to find out if there will be any additional taxes added to the £38.87
Just to add another option: Order some Shoe Goo off amazon, pull some old and busted shoes out of your closet and make them into skate shoes! I found an old pair of pumas and two pairs of destroyed Chuck Taylor's that are working great for me
I bought this board on amazon and it's been great for me. My one issue is that the wheels are suited more for park than for street.
But I get the appeal of building a board, I wish I would have done that.
Nah you'll be fine. They are good for getting the wheels a little tighter and reduce side to side friction, making bearings last longer according to the science behind it. You could get a 100 pack here on Amazon so you never run out.
I lost a few here and there myself, they are easy to lose track of being so small & sometimes they stick to the wheel from grease.
I recommend investing in some pads and a helmet that covers the back of your head if/when you can, I don't think you'll regret it. I used these cheap pads last year, the knees fell apart fast but they got me through a lot and the wrist/elbow pads were in great shape. If you buy nicer pads like 187's they'll last forever. As for a helmet...don't cheap out. Buy from Triple 8 or Protec, they're known brands and will protect your noggin well.
Until you can get your hands on that stuff though, just push yourself slowly and skate within your limits, and you'll have fewer limits every day. You've got this, you're already doing great!
Trying to learn how to skate on a shit board is like trying to peel a potato with a spoon itll be fuckin hard
I'm a big fan of this https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Skateboard-Shoulder-Carrier-Carry/dp/B01LYESUDQ , and you can also get a thick strap pad to make it more comfortable. https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Tec-Neoprene-Shoulder-SHPAD12/dp/B00UFCVK8O
If you want a bulkier mid 00s feel check out Globe tilts. They're what I'm rockin right now. Solid shoe so far. And comfy as hell.
The only problem with these, is they don't fit in back jeans pocket like a regular T-Tool, the bearing press / axle-threader / etc. makes it kind of fat to pocket.
My first deck was one of these. They're really durable and easy for beginners to ride.
Yeah this is my board and so far it has been phenomenal. Not too expensive and is working great
Skate hardware is specifically designed for skateboards and is different from standard hardware so I wouldn’t try to get it at a hardware store (I’ve tried it. Very time consuming and in the end the nuts I got were very incompatible.). You can find axle nuts and kingpin nuts for skateboards on Amazon and online skates shops like tactics.com and muirskate.com. You could also try a local skate shop. The hardware for skateboard and longboard trucks are all the same standard size so just buy according to the location of the nuts on the trucks. I’m guessing the ones in the pictures are the axle nuts, the ones that hold the wheels.
You can but a headlight light. I use this one from gearlight when I deliver packages at night. It has 3 brothers settings and the highest one is pretty bright. here
Here. But honestly would get some nice bones REDS bearings if you have the extra $10, they're much nicer on sliding plates and probably rollers too.
Found it ....
It was the only one I could find. Does the job though they are making about $95 profit on that $100 price I think. Still, does the job...
I had very similar problems with my arches. Now I don't walk anywhere without these. Just make sure you get a size that fits your arch height.
Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jpviscocity.tricksontrack
Or search for "Tricks On Track JPViscocity" and you should see the greenish logo above!
iOS coming soon!
I recently bought these insoles. They feel a bit awkward for the first couple minutes after I put my shoes on, but I don't notice them at all when I'm skating. I do notice that I don't get any heal bruising now!
Also, I highly recommend these sock! They have built-in shin guards and pads that cover the ankle bones on both sides of the ankle. They look like regular socks, but those pads have saved my shins so many times.
J-B Weld 8265S Original Cold-Weld Steel Reinforced Epoxy - 2 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006O1ICE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_J10RD5TM23H19C8V3DXD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It’s a glue for metal etc, mix the two and it hardens
You can also pick up a pair of dickies shorts to help ease the transition. Should be fairly cheap.
If you decide to go the sportswear route, you can grab from TJ Maxx / Ross cheaper than going to a lot of places. Personally I’m not a fan of this stuff because it seems like griptape + falling a few times would eat it up.
One other tip is you can order some of those cooling towels off of amazon or wherever you want to buy them. They do a great job of cooling you off. Something like this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0844FGSNL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_A46CAEPVSQKM1S0B3PVS
Haha! I actually have these: https://www.amazon.com/Finger-Outdoor-Cycling-Mountain-Bicycle/dp/B075YRCX8L/ref=mp_s_a_1_25?keywords=Skateboard%2BGloves&qid=1650744120&sr=8-25&th=1&psc=1.
Quality was not that good though. Some holes after a month but better the gloves taking a beating than my thumb
I got one like this, this one seems good: https://www.amazon.com/Keecaan-Skateboard-Screwdriver-Multi-Function-Portable/dp/B08CXCQJV4
But yeah mine was $20, and then another one I got free with some $20 bones reds I think
This was my first and it worked out ok, I got what I paid for and it lasted a few years and I had to get a better one since I was afraid It would break. https://www.amazon.com/Standard-Skateboards-Complete-Skateboard-Beginners/dp/B094VLF6NR/ref=sr_1_13_sspa?crid=O20901FN00KX&keywords=skateboards&qid=1650241744&s=sports-and-fitness&sprefix=skate%2Csports-and-fitness%2C107&sr=1-13-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySTNVRFM4UEM0VjNJJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTM4MTM5UUxUVFZBTVFGOFRaJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2MTE5NDEyVDgzTUpaUE5GQ1I4JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
Not a bad price tag compared to most brand names for newbies
Honestly I'd say buy a complete meaning everything is included with the skateboard, that way you don't break your head buying bearings wheels trucks bushing deck without the knowledge.
For brands you def can not go wrong with death wish or baker
Def def get pads elbow, knee, wrist gaurds etc.
You can go to your local shop to find a deal on a complete
Or you can find some at Amazon example
Deathwish complete for $80
Lastly if on a budget look at offer up and Craigslist
I recently on offerup bought a deathwish complete with hardly any wear at all for $40
Moose blanks are ASS. Maybe if you're new, but to me they feel soggy day one.
The best non sale deal in blanks in from newyorkskateboarding.com (chapman woodshop in newyork) You get a blank and grip for like $38 free shipping.
Prime LA (woodshop in california) has some blanks on amazon right now.
Not blank but tactics.com has a minimalist graphic shopdecks that are great https://www.tactics.com/tactics/skateboard-decks

hey man, hit up your local skateshop or amazon for any cheap skatetool, https://www.amazon.com/CrazyEve-Black-Skateboard-Tools-T-Tool/dp/B00KA6ZAQS/ref=sr_1_24?crid=11YJA0P70LH7Q&keywords=skate+tool&qid=1646313201&sprefix=skate+too%2Caps%2C354&sr=8-24 i use this one, its really good- not to mention cheap af.
7.75-8.25 will do the job. Grab a cheap complete from Skatehut, it'll do the job till you decide if you are committed. Then you can build a custom board. Another good place to look is Facebook Marketplace. Example https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1740529249420697/
They are building a new one in Oran Park that will be my local (900m from home) but that won't be ready for a month or two.
So no real local for me as everything is 20-25 minutes away. Elderslie, Leumeah, Carnes Hill, St Helens park to name a few.
Next Tuesday I have a day off work (12th) and I'll be skating in the morning. Need to be home by 12noon to watch an NFL game, but morning is free for skating.. If you have any suggestions would that work around your work.. I'm 9-5 and today for example it was 7.30 to 6.. I'm Brad btw.
If you don't find anything good on your local shop check out maybe some used boards on offer up, or craigslist, or try Amazon. They have some good to go cheap completes.
Nothing wrong with DVS... Good enough for Daewon Song. If they're like these (suede) you should be fine.
They're a disgusting organisation and essentially a cult. They committed so many crimes that they orchestrate the biggest infiltration of the US government ever to cover it up.
"Operation Snow White was a criminal conspiracy by the Church of Scientology during the 1970s to purge unfavorable records about Scientology and its founder, L. Ron Hubbard. This project included a series of infiltrations into and thefts from 136 government agencies, foreign embassies and consulates, as well as private organizations critical of Scientology, carried out by Church members in more than 30 countries. It was one of the largest infiltrations of the United States government in history, with up to 5,000 covert agents"
i got a brooklyn skate meetup on meetup.com and have about a dozen girls of different ages i can link you up with. haven't gone out the past few weeks but people are always down to skate.
you should get some new bearings. the wheels aren’t the problem at all. https://www.amazon.com/Bearings-Skateboards-Longboards-Scooters-Spinners/dp/B07SNP478C/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=LKBJOKX2K2ZL&keywords=bones+reds&qid=1641239985&sprefix=bones+reds%2Caps%2C121&sr=8-5
DEFINITELY WEAR A HELMET. One rated for skating. Mine is from Walmart or Target, not even gonna lie. I also wear wrist guards because I can’t risk losing use of my hands for work. HillBilly half finger wrist guard gloves from Amazonhillbilly wrist guards

here you guys go if y’all start smashing boards and things become expensive this is what i went through as a kid to save funny how it’s gone up san additional 60 bucks or so but still the most bang for your buck.
take these through all your levels of skating and than after your done skate your shop decks you get for free.
they pop well and hold up strong i broken brand name boards before i snapped a tail on those bad boys before.
i hope this helps some new skaters who are starting to pick up crushing it and their hobbies have taken more expenses than needed.
I got 59mm and I use them with some raisers, there is also a 55mm version for a bit more $29
my bad dude i didn't realize that kijiji doesnt exist in the UK. According to google, Gumtree is similar? You can jsut search skateboards and put in your location and see if anything shows up.
there have been studies done that show wrist guards actually increase serious arm injuries by encouraging bad fall technique (i.e. throwing your hands down and catch your whole weight with them)
https://skatefresh.com/inline-skating-wrist-guards/ https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/The-effect-of-wrist-guard-use-on-upper-extremity-in-Hagel-Pless/105a69214ac83e9811445b962f6cd4dcc46b1e3c?p2df
but yeah.. wrist guards aren't inherently bad but you should be cautious not to rely on them too much.
check meetup.com to see if there's a skate meet up. or got to a park in the morning and there are almost always beginners and loner skaters just working on particular tricks. start watching videos and if you want, have a deck without trucks and wheels and just practice shove its and kick turns on your carpet. but the end of it, you just gotta get a board and practice in front fo your apartment/house. learn to push and ride properly, get comfortable picking up speed and leaning to turn left and right then learn to do kickturns.
I found skater trainers and they helped alot. They are relatively inexpensive and they will help with progression of any tricks. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F49C0QS/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_9W74S452222QSDBVSV69
Well if it makes you feel better i've never heard of that site before this. A quick google pulls up another "Review" site that says resellerratings itself is a scam. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/resellerratings.com
If i had to guess, i think its one of those shitty review sites that hoards negative reviews and then contacts the company offering to take them down for a fee. If that's the case Skate Warehouse probably told them to fuck off.
Yeah it's so damn hard to coordinate all of it. I'm trying to train my muscles to just DO IT. My biggest problem is rolling though, that's why I'm dedicating this entire week to becoming familiar with moving. On the Walmart board, obviously the wheels and bearings were SO bad that I could practice doing those like in the video without moving. My new board with the bones reds and ricta's rolls on the slightest incline, so basically if I don't come back down absolutely perfect it'll fly out from under me. I learned real quick A. Don't get cocky and try and film yourself doing a shuv: https://sendvid.com/wkr5pk34 . and B. Don't play on your phone and ride.... THIS: http://i.imgur.com/vWqbXYy.png Happened when I was playing on my phone and skating around, hit a pebble I think and just went face first into a curb... it fucking hurt.
Ha sorry, https://sendvid.com/no0w668u that's the VERY First time I landed it. But I'm mucho better at landing feet apart and closer to bolts at this point. Yeah the walmart board is gone now, I got a welcome heirophant deck now.
What are you using to film?
If you're using a GoPro and setting it to 120 FPS it will automatically make slowmotion raw footage, figured you might be experiencing something like that.
Editing is pretty easy once you get a hang of it, you just have to find a decent editor that you like. Some of them have too many bells and whistles for me, I prefer something simple I can cut segments & drag and drop them with. I prefer openshot since I'm on Linux, but it also has a Windows version if you wanted to give it a try. Pretty simple drag & drop interface, easy to figure out the basics.
Yes, I don't really like to skate seriously with headphones, I think it's more difficult. Noticed the same thing in snowboarding. Curiously someone has made a study "Might as Well Jump: Sound Affects Muscle Activation in Skateboarding"
sure a lot of people feel this so props for speaking up. if you live in a decent sized city, i say load up meetup.com and there's probably a skate meetup in your area. there are so many beginner and beginner intermediate skaters that would love to ride and have a community to encourage one another so try that out. if you're solo, mornings at skateparks or nights in supermarket parking lots. those are two good spots. if you got room in your front yard or a big empty parking lot, do it there. load up some youtube tutorials and just learn step by step. if you like it, and stick with it, you're gonna just start learning tricks. and once you get your ollie down, it unlocks a curb which unlocks a lot more. just get in the habit or riding as much as you can while enjoying it.
I skate at my local skatepark in the mornings and there is always without fail one or two dudes just learning or working on one or two tricks. a good question to ask is to just roll up and ask: "what are you working on?" 9 out of 10 times you'll get some honest answer and you can tell him you suck but want to learn x, y or z and 9 of 10 times he/she/they will say "cool" and might even give you some tips. get at it!
Multivitamins, extra fish oil, stretches and drink a lot of water. You can't just stretch your knees though. You gotta be sure to stretch everything to loosen up. If it's in the budget you should definitely look into a theragun it's a real game changer. I use one before and after skating. Kind of speeds up the "loosening up" process post stretching.
I bought these a while back, but it's kinda pricey for a small amount. Works well enough. I've heard most people go for candles so if you have any tea candles at home, that would also do the trick.
Some risers between your trucks and deck would probably be your best bet. That being said, there's plenty of skate waxes, but you'll be paying more money for a small amount. You can use paraffin wax, a 1lb brick is pretty affordable and you can find it in the grocery store if you don't want to order online (probably cheaper in the store than on amazon).
The price went up to 70 but its this one Madd Gear Grind Rail - 55" Long - Strong Heavy-Duty Materials - Wide And Stable Supports - 3-Step Adjustable Height - Reinforced Interlocking Tubing With Center Lock Pin – Leading Action Sports Brand! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JC66XP7/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_PNPCB91F0BAW24QDTT0B?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I got these for $60 in june and they've been awesome https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003BAJKVQ/
But I see they jacked the price up to $70. I gotta say, for what they are it sure feels like a rip off. Yes they have been awesome, but it's such a simple design that I bet you could get some leather gloves and glue a normal wrist guard to it and save $60
Good on her for wearing pads, but if you can afford it I'd recommend a different helmet that covers the back of the head more. Helmets like that don't generally protect well in a backwards impact because the adjustment mechanism takes space from what could be protective foam (like slipping and falling backwards on a skateboard). Here are some impact rated helmets (extremely important) that are fairly affordable. If your budget is higher, you have tons of cool colors and designs to choose from too (really look for that impact rating though; you can't go wrong with big brands like Triple Eight or Protec). Can't put a price on a brain!
Hey man I see a lot of people bagging on you tryna get you to spend some crazy money (for being 10) on a board. This one is pretty good it more closely resembles a board you would build yourself, see if your parents will get it for you once you wear out that one!
Grab some blankdecks or tensor or ccs trucks for $30 until you can afford nicer ones again. They're fine

I use them on my backup board and haven't really noticed a difference from them and my indies.
Adding to this, I bought these sheets of suede, cut them into interesting shapes that match the lines on my shoe, to cover the holes, and use shoe goo to adhere them to the shoe. I highly recommend layering shoe goo over the hole & letting it dry prior to doing this, for some added integrity.
To keep from having to do this again too soon, I paste a layer of shoe goo over the patch as well.
Definitely worth it given those circumstances. I work in a brewery and this has seriously impeded my ability to do my job, so I can’t recommend pads enough. These are cheap, hardy and do the job. Feel free to reach other with any other questions. I have some recommendations for CBD muscle balms and some other homeopathic anti-inflammatory options if you’re not trying to pop Advil like skittles. Also, stretch all of the time. When you wake up, after you pee, before bed. Stay limber and you’ll avoid 90% of injuries us old guys are susceptible to(I say this as a 30 year old hahaha)

Dude, no ones telling him to clean his grip tape with a belt sander. It’s belt sander cleaner; what woodworkers use to keep their sandpaper clean. If you haven’t heard of this, maybe it can be a help. If you’re blessed to have enough clean places to skate “for decades” that you can completely wear out a board after bird before the grip tape needs cleaning, maybe you’re luckier than you realize. Either way, I hope you find some benefit in this product, and I hope you never tell another new skate that asking questions at a local skate shop makes them look like a poser. For being decades old, I’d honestly expect you to be past that. Cheers mate.

I ordered these and they’re pretty useful, just an FYI they’re only one, so to protect both feet you’d have to order two

This is the one I bought, it’s a little pricy for what it is but it’s a good quality and relatively light weight.
I was thinking about getting this one, Also yeah I heard it's easy to replace grid tape but I'm a little scared I might mess up as well as I can use this cleaner in the future as well.

because there thunders they have different bolt holes then say like indy or ace or others so this might work https://www.amazon.com/Thunder-DECK-Riser-Black-Set/dp/B0045U7C7K/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=thunder+risers&qid=1620188338&sr=8-1
I ended up purchasing skate trainers because I was tired of landing on my ass. They’re good for getting the movements down and once that feels “comfortable,” you can take them off and work on keeping the board with you.

This is what I started out with and it worked great for me. I only got rid of it to try out new deck sizes later down the line but I still use the wheel from it around a year later. Its good quality and relatively cheap for a reliable complete board.
Only downside I had was I wasn't a huge fan of the deck design but if u can look past that its a solid starter board.
Here’s the link to the skateboard I bought if it helps. I’m worried that I bought a bad beginner board and that it’ll break when I Ollie and shove it etc.here
I got a used skateboard as my first skateboard. I broke it after ~2 months after doing an ollie over my friend's skateboard.
A few days later I got a new skateboard from Amazon for £48/$66, claiming to have a "8-layer Maple Wood" deck. Two days later, I broke it doing a simple ollie.
You’re good on that! For me personally, I wouldn’t get wheels bigger than 55 mm. You picked 52 mm, which is pretty standard!
However, if the roads are shitty in your neighborhood like mine is, i suggest getting softer wheels. So the wheels you picked were 99A, pretty hard. They are great for parks and well paved areas.
I use wheels that are 86A, They are softer for the unforgiving pavement in my area.
Probably shouldn’t be getting equipment from Amazon, but I understand your predicament.
But if you’re going all amazon at least get a deck from a reputable brand. I don’t know who “Seven Skates” is lol, but i imagine that deck will break soon.
CCS sells blank decks on amazon and they have been around for ages. CCS Blank Deck This is a very affordable option.
The other gear is good. For your next board try and go local skate shop though!
Triple 8 are pretty good, they come with two sizes of inner padding that you can switch out. I have a ginormous melon and it looks pretty OK on me.
If it were me, I would try a damp cloth/rag, nothing too wet. most likely it mostly go away after you ride a bit.
Some people use a belt sander cleaner but for the cost of it, it's probably cheaper to just re-grip it. its kind of like a giant eraser. I have one but haven't had much luck with it. you have to scrub the hell out of it and well grip tape is pretty cheap. stripping it off can be a pain. check youtube for how to do that if it comes to it.
heres a link to the belt sander cleaner.

Get some looser pants. This is not meant to be an insult but fact. Your pant's will restrict your ability to move and jump as high as you need to. This is one of the reasons baggy pant's were so popular with skaters in the 90's. They don't have to be baggy, but you need room to move easily. I like to skate in slim fit jogger pants, they give you enough room to move, you don't need a belt, and they still look stylish. Example below:
Brooklyn Athletics Men's Twill Jogger Pants Soft Stretch Slim Fit Trousers
Buy some cheap padded shorts from amazon to try out while you heal up, I have some because I seem to always fall onto my hip/upper thigh when I’m on quad skates and it hurts like hell in the concrete bowl. They help a lot if they fit right. If you don’t need the tailbone padding try to find a pair without it, imo that’s the part that gets really sweaty/hot and you don’t really need it to cushion your hips
I got these JBM ones on Amazon. They're pretty comfy and have some color options. I've taken some mean falls and they've held up!
