The DNS uses a small TTL (600 seconds, it means it's easy to set up another IP for the same address) and it seems that the IP (owned by Nintendo) doesn't have some common ports open (https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=scan%3a205.166.76.238&run=toolpage) (aka the "server" doesn't have any service up yet or the server is not UP, more likely the last)
That is about $450 USD. However the price for the Uk is almost never the same as the price in the US. Take the xbox 1 for example. The halo 5 guardians 1TB console is 364 pounds. Whereas in the US it is only $340. So I am guessing the NX will only be about $350.

For Americans, The Wii U is £219 on Amazon with MK8 right now.

So it's suggesting the same price as the Wii U sold for, which was €/$300 IIRC.
Well, Magic Leap is promising a device that will fully map your environment for seamless or near seamless, 3D mixed reality. Perhaps a Nintendo device would forgo all that and just produce augmentation to the main game screen in the form of virtual second screen simulation along with 3D effects. I couldn't tell you how much that would save, but then I couldn't tell you how much it all costs in the first place.
Researcher and VR/AR pioneer Tom Furness seems to think the core of the tech is inexpensive:
> "The VRD uses very low power and yet can be very bright. The technology has been developed such that the scanning element will cost only a few dollars in mass production. Low cost light sources, optics and controllers will make up the rest of the system. Ultimately, the overall device should be very inexpensive yet it will be small enough to mount on a spectacle frame."
A couple possible options:
It could link to your smart device. Ideally, the portable gaming device would have a way of physically mounting your smart phone as well.
They could launch the portable with a virtual retinal display wearable, which would create the screen(s) virtually by a tiny oscillating fiber optic projector that paints the raster display onto the user's retinas.
If that second option sounds too good to be true (e.g. too expensive, dangerous, consumes too much power) then please read this:

It's basically wifi with some custom software. Nintendo could implement gamepad support in the NX for pretty much no cost if they really wanted.
And even if it was bluetooth, chances are Nintendo will use that for the NX-specific controllers like in the past.
I mentioned the numbers were more severe. Yes I read the articles.
Both sets of data are still in decline. Only slow because you are comparing to another more severe chart.
You claim that poor software support in home consoles as a defense but then use the same argument to condemn handhelds.
You are right that the vita is doing horrible compared to 3ds. 3ds also is still higher than any other Nintendo handheld OTHER than DS. Going from Best to second Best is a hard comparision. I'd say the same for PS2-PS3. Agreed Wii didn't keep people. Nature of that beast.

old article, but relevant
If you actually look at handhelds over the entire lifespan of Nintendo , with them being basically the only ones outside of PSP/PSVita, it's actually on an incline with the DS being a sole spike. When looking short term of the past 5 years the DS/PSP vs 3DS/Vita chart does look dim actually. Vita is kind of adding to that fire as well. Handhelds have always been Nintendo's niche market and they've always done amazing there.
edit- didnt actually mention. meant to.
Assuming it is a home console and not a portable as more logical articles delve into, the Wii U isn't holding Nintendo back so much so as the 3DS is. So if it is a handheld Wii U, 3DS BC will likely be software emulation cimilar to Citras 3DS's emulation. It could get the native hardware for it but not likely, particularly considering how horrific even the NN3DSs GPU and screen is. It wouldn't even be able to power a 480p screen at a decent rate.
$100? Try like $10. I picked up one of these VR Box units and it works great. I'd love the option to play like this instead of the way the 3DS does it.
this tech actually exists - versions of it that work well cost a couple hundred, but I've set them up for clients a couple times. I've used and been pleased with the aries brand: https://www.amazon.com/Nyrius-Transmitter-Streaming-Projector-NPCS549/dp/B009E6R89C
So not only does nintendo have the tech it used for the wii u to draw from, but a lot of other new research and production with widi, other wireless HDMI implementations, etc.
Additionally, taking the "wii u" half of the wireless display into a dongle and swapping in the wireless display hardware into the console itself makes a lot of sense, and should function well. Just have to hope they can nail near-zero latency, or they offer us a cabled option when latency matters... for smash bros with your bros.
Wait, what? Where did you hear that? Because Nintendo and Amazon had some issues in the past?
Other than that I can't think of a single reason. Here's "proof" that you can indeed pre order consoles that are not out yet:
And on Amazon you actually get the damn console compared to gamestop where they can just say: "Ooops, we sold out."
Keep it, Nintendo has always been great about supporting previous controllers. They've supported the Gamecube controllers for about 15 years, very impressive!
I can see the Wii remotes still being great for the next Mario Kart. Hell, I still use them for games like Shovel Knight, its a good approximation of the old NES controllers, plus I plug this guy into it for other VC stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Club-Nintendo-Super-Famicom-Classic-Controller/dp/B004TL1K0A
It didn't help that this thing was a legitimate accessory for the Wii.

They already have the apps. Also, if the bigger games ran on mobile hardware, we would see them releasing on mobile hardware. Unless you are walking around with a mobile Xbox One, they will have to essentially develop a new game if they want to support the NX handheld.
