"Net Neutrality" gets its name from "Line Neutrality" a concept where phone companies can't handle your call differently if you're using a different company (Say you use Verizon and call someone on ATT, without Line Neutrality ATT could drop your call because "F you, buy an ATT phone"). A good history of it is here.
When the internet got big most ISPs were existing telephone and telecom carriers. The idea of Line Neutrality was generally carried over, hence the name. However this was never enshrined in law so ISPs weren't exactly sure if this was required to abide by it and, bit by bit, they tested the waters.
So up until the mid 2010s it was never a big deal but ISPs kept pushing what they could get away with, especially when mobile became big, and if caught could say 'well the law doesn't say explicitly...'. This is why they were finally reclassified as Carriers, so the laws now apply.
This is a gross oversimplification but your point is plain wrong, things were never 'just fine' and these 'liberal regulations' are necessary for capitalism to work.
Definitely not Thayer: Exchange Terrace.
Food, festivals, coffee, walking, bicycle riding, these are things locals are into. A traditional approach is to invite your neighbor over for coffee, and this method is beloved and sacred here.
Get on Nextdoor.com. It's pretty popular here, and it's a good way to figure out what's going on and get involved.
It can be hard to break in here because the locals tend to be insular, but they're friendly. Learn the local foods. Olneyville Hot Weenies. Del's Lemonade. Seafood. Coffee syrup (betcha didn't know THAT was a thing before moving here!) and so on. Go to the festivals, there are a ton of em. Be nice to all the grandmas. They have grandkids that are probably your age, and that's a good way to meet people. It's a two-fer, because grandma is probably really cool too in her own right.
And let me circle back to coffee. Holy damn. RI loves coffee. You'd think the Boston Tea Party happened nearby.
I spend a lot of time in Narragansett!
Be sure to take a day trip or two to Providence and Newport.
Are you of drinking age? This matters. PM me for more info.
There is a book called Roadside Geology of Conneticut and Rhode Island that has all the information you could want.
Enrollment ended on 2/15 but losing health insurance is a qualifying event. That means you should be able to enroll using healthsourceri website.
Rate my professor usually misrepresents professors. All of my JWU professors that I absolutely loved are hated on RMP.
It seems that a lot of students will do shitty and blame the professor and go put a shitty rating. Take one of my awesome professors for example. I had her for discrete mathematics and loved it- she taught the subject expertly and made every chance to help students. Disgruntled students still do shitty and post a poor review of her.
This is just my 2 cents but rate my professor is bullshit. People take a tough course and blame the professor time and time again. Take the professor for yourself and see.
Try the Holiday Inn Express Middletown, looks like it will fit your budget. About 10 minutes from downtown Newport.
From looking at the route on google maps, it looks like you can take the #60 bus out of Newport to Kennedy Plaza and then take the #20 to the airport, but it'll take you about 2 hours.
It probably helps I play this game: https://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/
I learned a ridiculous amount of aerodynamics and rocketry. By accident as Nate says: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wmJlnTqjSg
Unfortunately cannot read the WSJ article because I don't subscribe and they don't have any limited views per month system. I am highly skeptical of the second link you posted because the supporting statistics are provided by a virulently anti-immigration group called CIS. If you can find a set of stats done by a less partisan agency they would have more credence to me. Here is what healthcare.gov has to say about immigrants getting medical coverage: https://www.healthcare.gov/immigrants/coverage/ As for being able to apply for Section 8 if you have US citizen child, that is true. I am glad we would not consign that family to being split into pieces or forced into homelessness, but i know we disagree on that front.
might wanna just go and see for yourself.
Can you provide a bit more info?
Whats the reason for breaking the lease?
Do you have a copy of the lease?
Have you actually READ what you signed?
What do you pay and how much do they want to charge if you break?
Are the rates/terms for breaking the lease in the lease at all?
My lease is up in June and then it transitions to a Month to Month unless the landlord asks that I resign another year. Here in RI they don't charge First, Last and Security. They can't They can only Charge Security and First. (Ill go find my citation for that, but when I spoke with a Realtor while looking I asked specifically about it and was told this). My lease also explicitly stated how much I would owe for the full year, paid in full or at a monthly rate. If I break at any time I owe the difference.
-=Edit=- Mybad they can charge first, last, and security. But security is limited by law to The cost of one months rent. Link
That's why I said on that subreddit "alone"--on most sites that allow customer reviews, their average is one star. Nothing is safe, but Rover is known for things going horribly wrong, unfortunately. They don't vet people enough. Example: https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/rover.com
If you're on a schedule, Rhode Island is the place for you. We have tons of attractions, history, and day trips, and as others have mentioned, we have the advantage of having it all in a small space. Here's an obligatory google link. But while you're here, enjoy some regional food, check out some real American history, and walk along the shoreline (time of year doesn't matter as long as you dress accordingly.) You can do that in a day with time to spare!
Another good book is This Land is Their Land by David Silverman. It discusses things from the Wampanoag perspective. It's a bit heavy at times, but worth it for the education. https://www.amazon.com/This-Land-Their-Wampanoag-Thanksgiving/dp/1632869241
Simple solution, and I’m not being an asshole or belittling you
Put childproof covers on the knobs if the issue is accidental bumping into them.
https://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-Child-Proof-Covers/dp/B00068O22S
The cover freely moves but doesn’t cause the knob to move. Unlatch to use the knob and then latch it back up when you are done
Yep.

He had different merch as well. Posters, t-shirts, etc. so yeah.
My work around was to snake this power adatper through the wall into the basement and plug it in. Has worked for 2 years no issues.
I realized it after I had posted my response and agree I misunderstood his point.
I had done some review digging its you are correct. Folks with no C wire seem to have partial success with their units however there is a lot of ugly reviews out there.

I have this book: it's ideal for what you're looking for in terms of hikes / nature trails, OP. Gives average times for each trail, difficulty, points of interest.

Idk what your budget is but mine was pretty tight also and the store near me were asking $1,500-2,000 for what I wanted. I ended up getting this and I’ve been really pleased with it.
Arcadia Management area has some great trails for hiking / biking. Stepping Stone Falls is very nice. Just make sure it's not hunting season.

Echoing anyone who mentioned the Big River management area. This loop in particular is quite a trek. Check the reviewer's "recordings", Mary's is pretty good in the comments.
The wall that delineates my back property line is likely part of a repurposed older wall. One part is clearly an old farmer's wall, nearly waist-high, and 2 to 3 feet thick made of various sizes of field stone. But then there's another part that is only about a foot tall and one stone wide, made of all stones that could be easily carried by a human whereas the other part has ones that took more than one person to move.
It reminds me more of the type of stone work we see in prehistoric game traps: https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/The-ancient-stone-built-game-traps-at-Gharb-Aswan-Storemyr/6d7e855d33028de57990c59847de15f12f8e6893
And here's the thing, deer still migrate through the area when going from summer to winter and vice versa, almost exactly in the same direction as the wall. It could have been an old game trap that was repurposed into part of a farm wall. It's not really big enough to do anything but corral game animals, but perhaps it formed a convenient boundary line for two farmers and therefore wasn't destroyed like the rest of the trap (which would have been less linear).
Handlebar mitts like these might be a good idea to keep warm and cozy. They are popular with cold-weather motorcyclists, and it looks like bicycle style ones are just as popular but also super cheap: https://www.amazon.com/ODIER-Handlebar-Cyclist-Mittens-Bar-Straight/dp/B077SY7J6F/
Having that 100% wind protection is nice.
I had the same problem with my radiators, they are filled with hot water from a gas boiler. A few were painted in multiple layers that were chipped. I took a wire brush and removed all of the loose bits. Then I painted with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AENFZG2?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details which is a high-heat, oil based paint. This is not a low VOC product and took nearly a week to dry fully. The results were gorgeous, if silver is what you want. My problem was that I was painting them while they were still attached to the system. It looks like you are able to remove them?
Personally I'll only run from my bed to the bathroom, that's my favorite.. but the J*ohn Chafee Preserve* is a nice woodsy path that's well cleared. I've witnessed people that like to run running there:

They’re taking a week to two, but if you’re looking to have a couple on hand it’s worth the wait while looking for local ones.
I'm thankful for meteorologists who can give up days of warning before a storm hits. I don't care if their models "overhyped" it. I'd rather be underwhelmed (or even disappointed that I cancelled a plan) than caught off guard.
The heads up that Henri was going to have significant winds helped inform me where to park my car on Saturday night. And guess what? The tree I normally park under fell during the wind. Car is undamaged. Thank you windy.com
The models are garbage and never tested theory. They thought about different levels of compliance with social distancing in the past, in '08 all the groups doing modeling now were looking at that then - https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Modeling-targeted-layered-containment-of-an-in-the-Halloran-Ferguson/50c9404f4acb70b43d3ac3a22c2499dbba7379e9
They never said their current predictions were dependent on levels of social distancing with a range for the different levels, they just baked it in, and gave us scare numbers.
Hi All, I posted this in r/providence already. There's a brand new, free yoga series starting 10/1 at Santosha Yoga for folks who've sustained a traumatic brain injury or concussion(s). Their support people and/or caregivers are welcome to join too. It's an amazing program and is brand new to RI! I've done this program in CT and have friends with TBI/post concussion syndrome who've completed the series and swear by it. Please feel free to share with anyone you know who might benefit from this awesome (free) program! More details on LoveYourBrain's website.

I honestly don't know enough about the state to say. I'm actually curious to learn, but it's a lot to unpack.
I'll note that there were similar essays from a different author in 2007 and 2013 (Renn's is from 2014), but targeting Massachusetts instead of Rhode Island. So... perhaps not an original idea.

The person the OP talked to may have been on to something. Kites can be heavier than I thought.

I have these ones and they also work fine. They're small enough that I can put them in my purse or a pocket when I don't need them. They basically live there all winter for surprise ice.
