Windows "emulators" of Windows 95 that should but can't. gog.com, I looked up reviews on the games I like and they weren't really great. Oh, well. Plenty more games out there.

I took my computer to geek specialists who charged me a couple hundred dollars to set it up and It did play BotF but not CIV. {I don't like later versions of CIV}

That computer died and I'm not paying for it again...it's just a game.

Indeed. The volume I found over at Amazon contains excerpts only. The unabridged translation is a massive, multi-volume tome and it costs over $800!

Wow! That's amazing. I was thinking the costume looked too good to be any kind of amateur production. I just looked it up and see that it's an adaptation of Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. It's available for streaming from Amazon (at least in the U.S.) here.

This post reminds me that it's been way too long since I've read Strunk & White's The Elements of Style. For those of you unfamiliar with it, here's Rule 17:

If you haven't read Strunk & White, you've got a treat in store. It will improve your writing and thinking more than any other book of its tiny size (87 pages, not counting the glossary and index). You can buy a copy here.

Several random thoughts raised by this video:

1. One key takeaway: America's roads are in such bad shape they're going to hamper the implementation of vehicle autonomy. Ergro, countries like Germany and Japan, who have relatively pristine roads, will be able to surpass us easily unless we fix our infrastructure. So once again: You do a bad job of taking care of your infrastructure, as we have for 40 years, you're hamstringing your ability to compete.
2. One problem for some municipalities comes to mind: Revenue. Some small towns (there's a town in Delaware I'm thinking of specifically) generate a large portion of their revenue by speeding tickets. If the day comes that most vehicles are driving the speed limits because they're autonomous, some of those towns are going to be in a fix. (Not that I feel sorry for them; I don't.)
3. I drive in big cities fairly often (Philadelphia and New York). One of the trickiest things to negotiate is the busy pedestrian crosswalk. As you inch forward, you have to make eye contact with pedestrians, wave some forward and give a "Halt" hand-sign to others. If you don't do this, or can't do this, you are going to be stuck in that crosswalk for an eternity while a stream of pedestrians swirls like ants on all sides of your vehicle. I'm talking about situations like this. I see no way at all that an autonomous car will be able to negotiate those intersections. Without some clever solution, what will happen is that the cars will become immobile and non-functional, busy pedestrians will swarm around them, and gridlock will result. I suspect the vehicle seen at 5:20, with the big eyes, is one attempt to address this problem. If you have eyes that take the place of the driver's eyes, pedestrians will know if an autonomous vehicle "sees" them or not. That's not a complete solution, but it may be a start.

Love the use of space Star, you are definitely showing signs of improvement. I would like to see a little more shading and structure, but overall it looks great. Tomorrow we will be working with GLUE!!!!!!!!! :P

If you are being blocked it is coming from your side. IPVanish or any vpn will get you through. I was having problems with the guardian but it was because I took away a web sites ability to reload pages on its own.

It's possibly a highly effective preventative.

In the meantime, I've been using First Defence every time I've been out and return home - three squirts up each nostril. It's probably going to reduce any viral load considerably, though I've not seen anyone quantify it for Covid. My old friends at Porton Down think it's worth using, as do many of my friends who work in this area scientifically. It's widely available in UK, but is available in US as well. Basically, encapsulates any viral particles you have inhaled in a gel that then goes down your throat to stomach (where acidic environment kills things). Don't wait to get symptoms, just use it every time you come back to house. Not clinically proven, but many of us who do science in this area are using it. You will get a runny nose when you use it, but that is the point - the lower the viral load, the less likely you are to get a nasty bout
