If you live in a jurisdiction that enforces anti-piracy laws, you need either a debrid service or a VPN service. Any free VPN service isn't really going to be secure, will insert ads, doesn't support P2P, or is some combination of the above. As another comment pointed out, ProtonVPN only offers P2P protection on their paid service, and not with a free subscription.
Between a VPN service and a debrid service, the former is more versatile but the latter is better for streaming. If you want to stream 4K video, you basically need a debrid service. Even without using a VPN and on a good internet connection, seeders' combined bandwidth almost certainly won't be sufficient to stream 4K video without buffering. On the other hand, a VPN would allow you to use geo-restricted websites and services while a debrid service wouldn't. Cost-wise, they're about the same. You should be able to find either for about $3USD/month. So you could actually get both for less than the cost of the new ad-supported Netflix subscription.

The new update is up and running, I have just installed it, and I was watching a movie without subs that stremio older version could not find and this update has already fix that.
> but it doesn't install
is there an error (parsing) or something else showing during the failed install?
32bit ARM should be the correct version for most android OS TVs - there are a few different methods of transferring APK files to Android TV, like installing a cloud file manager on your TV, or going through the process of setting up ADB on a computer. the easiest method, imo, is to use Send files to TV , an application that sends files to an Android TV device (or anything else with Android) over your local network
You will need to download it onto the fire stick using the software “Apps2Fire” from an Android phone...
Here’s the link to the app... Apps2Fire
I think no vpn will have trouble with casting. The vpn only encrypts internet traffic, not local (streaming) traffic. Unless it has a setting to also block all local traffic. Anyways, I use NordVPN and it works too (also cheaper than ExpressVPN last time I checked)
Now there are more doubts about it. How can you verify that built in VPN?. Yes, I can see a little difference about that, although it should be minimum with a paid VPN. The thing is why ProtonVPN can't manage it If it's streaming, direct link not torrent one.
How do you really know what i'm watching is a direct link and not just another torrent server? Is there a way to really check the video file?.
I noticed that the free ProtonVPN version doesn't have p2p feature for it's free plan. And surprise! On my tv doesn't allow me to watch RD+ files... But when I change to WindscribeVPN it does... (I have p2p feature in that one). So I guess ProtonVPN assumes it as If it were a torrent. Also I can perfectly watch IPTV with it, which indeed those are direct links.
Anyone knows how to really be sure about it?
It sounds like your stremio is outdated or corrupt. Try restarting your device and if the issue persists, reinstall stremio and you could try a VPN. For a free VPN, try one called ProtonVPN, they allow you to connect to one of three servers for no cost and they don't log any activity
I just wanna share some of my experiences here for those who are interested in an answer for the question I wrote up here. Some people here were writing about inability to stream 4k movies with VPN only. Well... they were right but I think not 100% right. From a logical point of view I think it's not an universal truth and it depends purely on your internet speed. With my 150 mBit/s I was unable to stream 4k movies comfortably but theoretically with something like 1 gBit/s it may work just fine. Also some people here wrote that Proton is not a safe VPN so I digged a bit deeper into this topic and they were right. I was surprised that none of any hugely advertised VPNs are safe from a point of their history, independency etc. Just check r/VPNtorrents 2022 recommended VPN list if you want to have safe VPN for torrents. I personally chose Mullvad and will stick to it in the future.
Depends where you live. I used it for years without IPVanish, I live in Canada though. It's not illegal to stream copyright material here. I used to get emails all the time from film company's trying to say I was being fined. But if you don't respond they can't do a thing about it. Now I do have I VPN, only cause my wife insisted, and I have real-debrid cause it streams soo much better.
surfshark servers seem to be oversold and you may find them banned in some cases and aren't very p2p friendly
many offer free trials to do a little research with or depending on your usage there are free options like winscribe
personally i have used AirVPN for a few years now almost 24/7 and it is a solid service/p2p friendly but as i said you can check a few out
it all depends on your country and the laws that apply in it, many countries (sweden, spain etc) allow the use of torrents.
But most ISPs in the world do not allow this type of content via torrents.
In this case, it is much better to have a VPN (ProtonVPN is the best).
Even with all of the above said, it is much better that you purchase the realdebrid service, so you will not have to deal with the latency of a VPN
in summary:
First option: Realdebrid
Second option: VPN (ProtonVPN)
Third option:
None of the above, and live in fear that your ISP will send you a notification.
Is there a way to only get Torrentio +RD and Torrentio + Orion results and not just Torrentio results?
I have Orion and Real Debrid installed and configured with Torrentio.
Seeing that I live in Florida and I only use the free version of ProtonVPN I do not want to accidentally click on a regular Torrentio link that is not through Real Debrid or Orion as I don't want a notice from my ISP Cox. Is there anyway to setup Stremio on my Firetv Cube this way?
I just thought, you might not find the TorrentIO add-on listed directly through the app, but if you can't find it in the add-ons list, go to their configuration page here, set it up the way you want it, click the Install button. If that doesn't work, it's gonna be a pain in the ass because you'll have to follow the guide I posted in response to the question a few posts up from here, the question about configuring the add-on not working on Linux (just look for a really long post and my name). So if you can't get it working from the instructions in my original reply to you AND after this method, then you're in for a really fun experience lol. I don't know if it'll be possible on a Fire TV without a mouse of some kind ... if the instructions I've given here lead to you failing at the point of clicking the green Install button, you're gonna need a mouse or if you have an Android phone, try this app, then use the trackpad and keyboard functionality to follow my Linux guide in one of the posts above.
The problem with you was not with split tunneling actually. Sometimes the connection of NordVPN drops and reconnects and while this, kill switch doesn't work, so traffic is allowed at that time. It must have dropped while playing content when you have no idea about the connection. Stremio player doesn't stop on connection drop either. It continues on Mobile Data or Wifi whatsoever. So better use a reliable VPN like Mullvad, or Windscribe or smthg
Does somebody knows how to contact to developer or leave a suggestion.
I have a trouble watching you know Russian TV shows cause they parsing search results in ENG. Torrentio has rutor but i would like developer to add Rutracker.org and ability to find russian spelled movies-shows. Now i find content writing in russian through TMDB addon but 95% of time (Streams not found) shows.
Don't know maybe i need to learn code to make stremio do what i want. Preparing to dig through rabbits hole :)
shit will barely work unless you use real-debrid. also, enable the 'secure' connection for your Download Port, and it'll work as a VPN.
also search debrid in this subreddit for more info.
Well, there are no add-ons that offer movies in that language at all right now.
I think your best bet is to:
This will make Stremio get torrent streaming results from the national torrent sites that you enabled in Jackett, which should be translated to your language. If you get stuck and need help with any of these steps, just tell me and I can help you finish setting everything up.
Nice try. Now i do see alldebrid streams on my mac, but none on the amz fire tv2 😢
Using the same trick, i even managed to install deflix on my Amz fire TV2 but still no alldebrid streams available.
I am wondering if amz does block alldebrid connections (i am using ExpressVPN) but it’s weird because it used to work a few weeks ago
