Well, in general, it's better to have your library spread out across several sources(I recommend at least 6-7) and then add manga from new sources rather than limit yourself to only some sources selected at the beginning. Not only will it allow to have a better experience, but in case some source is slow or down only a small part of your library will be affected.
As for what to use, MangaPark, MangaLife and MangaFreak are a bit faster than the other ones and I suggest also checking out https://tachiyomi.org/help/faq/#extensions for more info.
Or, if you are willing to put in a bit more work, you should use scanlator sources (more info in the link).
For users using TachiyomiJ2K and using a device with MIUI, disable MIUI Optimizations under Developer Options to install extensions or extension updates, or download the apks manually from https://tachiyomi.org/extensions/. Hi, you must've used the F-droid version of the app. Tachiyomi has been disabled there and will probably never return on F-droid for reasons being this F-droid Issue.
You're kind of fucked because 0.8.5 only supports JSON (already legacy) and it will not restore manga that isn't accessible (which means if you haven't migrated Mangadex back to the new mangadex extension, the manga would just return an error).

No and yes, extensions are apks so they won't get uninstalled. There is a possibility that some of your manga would be gone though if you do decide to update.

Probably not. I thought of recommending you to find a sketchy site that still hosts the F-droid version and had 0.10.6+ (the version that introduced v3 backups) but that is just asking for trouble, so no, don't do it.
Whats the fix? It's gonna be a painful restore.
- Backup your manga safely, keeping in mind your MangaDex manga in library as they wouldn't be restored.
- Uninstall 0.8.5 and download the latest app (0.10.12) on the site.
- Make sure you set up the app first by double-checking the extensions as well as logging in on trackers if that applies to you.
- Restore the backup, it should be very slow but that is normal
- Check your notifications area after the backup has been restored, it should show you some failed to be restored. Open the log, and manually add everything that is on that.
- Setup auto-backup so that this would not happen again in the future as protobuff can restore offline.

Afaik it's because someone used denial-of-service on NHentai and so they started to use CloudFlare as protection.

If you're an old user that has manga added in library before MangaDex went down, then you need to migrate it to MangaDex again since they use new identifiers for manga. More info here.
If you're a new user that has added manga in library after Dex went back up, then try troubleshooting.
Not all forks of Tachiyomi has mass migration of all entries from a source. To my knowledge TachiyomiJ2K, TachiyomiAZ, and TachiyomiSY are ones that have the feature. Refer to this page of the Tachiyomi site on how to do it. But if you use a different version like tha main, you'll need to do a backup on that version and restore the backup on one of the forks that have the mass migration feature

This may be a bug of the image decoder, at least, that is what you're describing it as. I will assume you have already tried troubleshooting. From what I can see, the webtoon PIGPEN looks to use the JPG image format. After a test of Episode 1 Ch. 2 and Episode 8 Ch. 9 it seems to be correctly loading on my device. Have you tested out the preview version of the app to see if it is the case?

SY might be an option, although I don't know if it has the feature you want, it keeps the main Tachi interface with J2K features. A quick look through the GitHub repo suggests it is indeed actively developed.
Try reinstalling the MD extension. If it doesn't show up on the list, you can download and install it manually from https://tachiyomi.org/extensions/.
If the extension is installed but doesn't show up in the sources list, go to Browse > Sources tab > tap triple lines in the top right corner and enable MD.

Make sure you have the proper folder structure, otherwise tachi won't be able to recognize it.

Everything else was virtually easy.
The app has no way of knowing how many chapters you want and how many pages each would get.
If you want to download manga by folders, I would recommend you get Hakuneko for PC, which can download by individual chapters. After that, you can create a folder and put all the chapters inside it.
The structure is: > Internal storage > Tachiyomi > local > manga title > chapter 1 (or ch.1, however you like) > 1.jpg)
It is linked in the https://tachiyomi.org/extensions/. You can also find this information on Github, but the spreadsheet is just an easier option since it's more structured.
You can only migrate Mangadex favourites to Neko, as Neko only supports Mangadex.
Create backup on Tachiyomi, restore the backup on Neko.

What help do you need? If you are asking how to start, then you need to add extensions(Browse > swipe up Extensions and install some), go back to Sources, open some source, open manga and add it to the library.
After that, I suggest just tapping on every button, poking around the settings - IMO the fastest way to learn how to use it. Or you can read the guide: https://tachiyomi.org/help/guides/getting-started/ though it's for Stable/Preview.
For some sources, you need to bypass Cloudflare, log in in order to search(MangaDex), confirm the age(Webtoons), etc. You can do this in the webview(globe icon under title cover image).
Yeah, once you have chapters downloaded they will be there. Though generally, I would suggest migrating to other sources or downloading and moving chapters to local manga: https://tachiyomi.org/help/guides/reading-local-manga/#reading-local-manga.

I am on 6.0.1 on a Samsung phone. It is not rooted or anything and I don't think it is a device specific issue because I used to use Tachiyomi before and all of my other apps are fine.
In the beginning I had the tachiyomi where the layout was the old layout, though I forgot what version. I downloaded that from tachiyomi.org so I assume it was some kind of stable build.
Let me try the Discord when I got time but I feel that the solution shouldn't be so complicated that I need to go to discord so hopefully you guys can help.
Hello, i have 2 problems, hopefully you can help.
- tried installing the SY fork but it says that "app cannot be installed". I never tried the F-Droid version. I have tried restarting and uninstalling the original tachiyomi but I still get the app cannot be installed. I have also tried both 1.0 apk from tachiyomi.org and github.
- Before I uninstalled my old tachiyomi, I made a backup. However now that I install the 0.92, when I click restore backup, it only gave me the option to restore from google drive and music folder. And yes, I have installed all of the extensions again but it wont let me try to find the backup file using file manager
I feel that these 2 issues are already in the faqs but the answer there does not help so maybe the faqs could be updated too in the future.

There's no PC version, I meant you can move the downloads folder to your PC from old phone, then move downloads folder from PC to new phone.
Chapters transferred can only be read as Local manga. Here's a guide

One thing you can try is to copy some downloaded manga to local. For example, you have /Tachiyomi/downloads/[sourceName]/[mangaName]. Copy [mangaName] folder to local folder, so you'll have /Tachiyomi/local/[mangaName]. Then Refresh library metadata in Settings > Advanced. Or just close and reopen the app.

I'm not sure what you mean by fork, but it's on the 0.9.2 version and I got it from here https://tachiyomi.org/ Yes, I logged into MD through the app, which lead me to an in-app opening. All of my sources, which are all up to date, (Mangadex, Mangasee, Toonliy, Readcomiconline and Webtoon) work and update fine on their own. However, the only thing that doesn't seem to work is Global Search, which handicaps Source Migration
What version/fork are you using? Are your extensions up-to-date? For MD search to work you need to login via webview: https://tachiyomi.org/help/faq/#mangadex.
Update extensions and clear cache in Settings > Advanced. There are also other sources: https://tachiyomi.org/help/faq/#what-are-some-recommended-extensions. I would suggest using MangaPark, MangaLife, MangaFreak as it seems that they are a bit faster than the other ones. You should also try searching title name manually - maybe sources that you are using don't have the title you need.
