I think it's more likely they're using something like this than an Alyx belt, which is a designer brand piece that costs over $200. I doubt they would spend that much money on a costume accessory.
In the earlier seasons they used a 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse (which happens to be my controller of choice for KSP). I'm actually kind of sad they switched to the more cliche joystick, since IMO joysticks don't make much sense for spacecraft. (They put too much emphasis on roll which isn't as important in space and it's harder to make precisely timed bursts without computer assistance.) Then again NASA still uses them so it's not like I can call it wrong.
Originally released in 1965, it's been the microphones of choice for musicians and presidential speeches since it's inception.
and you can still buy one, they aren't even that expensive.
It's not inconceivable that a microphone design could be reliable enough to last that long.
As an alternative, I wear the Worktunes Connect. https://www.amazon.com/3M-WorkTunes-Protector-Bluetooth-Technology/dp/B0723CYHPZ I don't know what makes these 10x more expensive, but I'd love to try them out!
My daughter had a Monster High "monster maker" that eventually got resigned to the back of cupboard because the app no longer worked, I stripped it down and harvested all manner of goodies from it, tons of self tapping screws, some motor's, ir detectors and stuff, all in one of the "it'll come in handy one day" boxes.
Not sure why the OP of that post just didn't post the manufacturer and ask people to message him.
They are listed under amazon under the Cevinee store:
"Cevinee trade Creative Coin-shape Mini EDC Folding Pocket Keychain Knife with Hanging Chain".
Just googling "round keychain knife" also pops it up.
