>If in 2 years...words words words, I'll do the reddit thing and personally eat a hat.
Also, I don't believe that being a mod means you have to be unbiased in terms of who you support, just in how the sub-reddit is governed. The only places anyone has to give up their personal opinions are in the military & in marriage. :v
Probably as usual, all of the race is supposed to be on FOX.
ps. Opera browser's developer version has free built-in VPN. Much faster than some random proxy and safer than some sketchy free VPN extension. Needs to be enabled from the settings, then pick Netherlands or Germany (or Canada?).
All races are streamed live on but there is a US Geoblock. (FYI: the stream has commentary from RadioLeMans under the guise of "IMSA Radio") Zenmate might be your best option to get around it as an idiot got hola servers blocked during the Rolex 24. Also as mentioned by /u/MBlanchet80, IMSA does post the races on Youtube but they can take up to a week to posted officialy but there are other youtubers that get the races up quickly.
TL;DR: +Zenmate or any VPN for live streaming or Youtube after the race but be wary of spoilers...
Edit: Forgot a closing parenthesis
Avoid the Geoblock! Look around for a coupon for Digital Ocean. Spin up an ubuntu VPS (I used London), and setup a SOCKS proxy.
A Canadian VPS might work, but the London location works just fine for me (In the SE USA)
That's terrible. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a pretty place, but there's nothing in there that I couldn't get anywhere else.
It's even worse given they're trying to associate fresh flowing water with Michigan, a place that's not exactly internationally associated with having water that's fresh and safe. (I get the water's not bad everywhere, just it's bad association from whoever is their ad agency).
Edit: coincidentally, I just noticed "Come Tour Georgia" advertises at the bottom of weather.com.
This is assuming your staying multiple days:
Get there as early as you can to get a good spot. Gates open at 8am Thursday I think.
Try to find firewood on Craigslist or googling. Craigslist is a little hit and miss though. I've gotten some pretty shitty firewood from a local on 2 separate occasions.
If you don't have a generator get a battery pack for charging phones on Amazon.
Anker makes nice ones:

These are a little cheaper and have 2 charging ports cutting charge times in half:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01422TC14/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_UAZxAbAZ8GNXV
I own both and prefer the EasyAcc because of the 2 charging ports. It takes 20+ hours to charge the Anker from dead.
Bring some flip flops to wear in the showers. You don't want to be walking in there with bare feet.
Bring warm clothing. It gets cold as fuck some years.
Bring the biggest cooler you have and try to get all of your food shopping for the weekend done in one trip. Walmart has everything you need including ice.
Just look up a NordVPN sponsored video on YouTube, one of Jacksfilms videos, you can get 3yrs of NordVPN for like 80 bucks. it's really useful when I wanna watch the current season of Top Gear on BBC's Web Player, too. Since the BBC is publicly funded over in the UK they are required by law to stream their content free of charge through the iPlayer. but it's geoblocked to the UK...a VPN changes that.
For US fans. I highly recommend buying a VPN. I got a 1 year subscription through Private Internet Access. It has a lot of servers outside the US and has good security features. For $40, I now have the ability to stream the entire season commercial free.
I've spent the afternoon doing some VPN research instead of working.
NordVPN looks to be the best, safest and easiest vpn to download and use. They take PayPal and if you buy the annual membership, you have a 30 day money back gaurantee. So you can cancel after the 24 hours if you don't need it and pay nothing.
Probably because extensions like Hola and Zenmate route your traffic through other users, not a server somewhere. Which means someone is having their traffic routed through you. It may be easy to use, but it is certainly not free of serious flaws.
My sugguestion to OP would be to use a vpn or a dns service. Several of them only cost a couple dollars a month. Been doing it for years and have not had any issues.
It's always convoluted. If you go into "Live now" or something like that, there is a small sidebar with a few vehicles in profile, the top button is what you want. I cannot recall what it says.
Alternatively, this works, also with Chrome and Zenmate:
Which loads it up without the timing and scoring.
Sorry for the delay, see if this link works. It's in the Uniden Bearcat BC125AT format, probably can just open in wordpad etc. Uniden also lets anyone download the utility if you like.
Okay, if I have NordVPN, what country can I set my VPN too so I can watch the IMSA TV stream? the NBC app doesn't work and looks like ass, I set it to Mexico and it doesn't work, tried with Canada, too
You do have to make an account. I missed that part of your comment. But it's really not a big deal. You will also have to download a plug in from Private Internet Access, but it's completely safe. I know I'm a random guy on the Internet but I completely vouch for it.
I'm not aware of any issues with zenmate, I think it's just untrusted since it's free (where are they making their money?). Hola is the dangerous one since they use you as an exit node. I've used Private Internet Access before without issue.
The IMSA stream will show the whole race and keep going after night. Unless you're in the US, after that period, you'll most likely get a blank screen.
Here's some solutions for 'Merican viewers that can't watch it...
is blocked in the US outside of the ~~FOX~~ FUX overnight "coverage hole". It's fine if you're in Scotland, like me, or pretty much anywhere that ISN'T a United States territory.
To Mort_The_Moose: Get Zenmate for your ChromeFox-Moziloogle-Whatever. That'll help you dodge the IMSA/FUX roadblock.
unfortunatly a VPN service such as Private Internet Access or my personal favorite Private Tunnel (it has pay at you need it access to VPNs) is really the only secure way to stream around the Geoblock. Zenmate has the issue of other users using your connection and Hola was blocked by IMSA after an idiot blew the horn on it. Backup options is to wait on the race thread/IRC chat for other stream links.
I do pay for VyprVPN. So you're saying they broadcast the whole race live at ? The schedule makes it look like only parts that aren't covered by fox sports are live on the website. I can easily get around the geo block. How's the quality of the stream? Appreciate the help.
To add to an above comment:
Some years it's cold during the day as well with high winds, so BRING WARM CLOTHES.
The stadium section is BYOB as well, but the beer must be in a soft cooler, not in glass or any container other than cans, and 30 or less beers per person.
My own advice:
Headphones under over the ear hearing protection will be more than enough. radiolemans.co for the official audio stream, or use the imsa app. I've had good success with just headphones as without additional hearing protection.
Bring a roll of toilet paper and some hand soap or sanitizer when you're walking around. The bathrooms in the higher levels of the grand stands typically have no hand soap for the rolex 24.
Get yourself the highest capacity (maH) external battery pack/charger you can afford. There are limited outlets around the track and you probably don't want to be standing around one of the charging stations in the grand stands waiting for your phone to charge. Anker ones are good, but I prefer this one it has two charging ports so it charges twice as fast as the others. I have two of them and they work great.
These are the other ones I was considering, but I like the ones you linked much better. They just look more robust. https://www.amazon.com/Race-Day-Electronics-33-1158-Noise-Reducing/dp/B0038ZVSVO/ref=pd_sbs_201_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=ACBAZNBQ5H2Z2VJ5T711
I use the Panasonic 4K. It's a great camera but my screen got rained on so the video is stuck upside-down. I had to put an external monitor on it.
