If you must torrent, spend the price of 1 textbook ~$50/yr and subscribe to a VPN service like Private Internet Access or hidemyass. Even a single DMCA notice is a big deal and these things are cheap, reliable, and pretty much foolproof.
Firstly - the amount of harm being done to cats is, as far as I can tell, being misrepresented. These are not stray cats that are being used and euthanized.
Secondly - The viability of animal training has been confirmed over just using mannequins - http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0196064484800645 (linked below by nobkin, give him the upvotes he deserves) - Groups 1 and 2 were trained with a didactic presentation followed by manikin practice, an animal laboratory exercise, and operating room experience. Group 3 had no OR experience; Group 4 had only didactic/manikin training. Intubations were observed by preceptors on scene. During the study period of 27 months, 689 of 763 patients (90.3%) were successfully intubated by 122 paramedics. While results suggest variation in skill levels according to training group (Group 1, 92.4%; Group 2, 87.6%, Group 3, 83.3%; Group 4, 76.9%)
As you can see, groups that received hands on training with an animals(groups 1,2,and3) got better successes - which, to me, seems to be an argument FOR the use of cats. The articles conclusion that "Operating room or animal laboratory experience may increase initial success levels, but these factors do not appear to greatly influence eventual performance or incidence of complications of the procedure." seems useful, though hilarious. In this case, initial success rates mean "when the guy is put out there on his own in the real world and starts trying to save babies lives" - you want the initial success rate to be high. Again, if we need to use cats to get the initial success rates high, then by all means, do it. Just because the guy will eventually pick it up does NOT mean that proper training can be eschewed.
He is playing starting at 10:30 for the after party of a benefit for Light House Studios, a Charlottesville non-profit that helps youth create film's. The benefit dinner is more expensive and starts at 6:30, but this is for a younger crowd. $20 includes a free drink ticket and music all night. Cash bar all night. I think you’d be using Disney+ for that, and their terms of service aren’t quite as explicitly restrictive, as long as it is not a public showing. https://www.disneyplus.com/legal/subscriber-agreement
You could also check the film out of Clemons, if you have access to a DVD player
Hey there I'm also an incoming grad student and had a couple questions about Uncommon. I've heard the walls/floors are kinda thin, would you say that's true? Also is the included internet reliable? Do you by chance know what sort of download speeds it has? If not could you run this quick test and tell me what you're getting? https://fast.com/ Sorry for the specific questions, my current place has shitty internet and paper thin walls, so I'd really love to avoid that this time.

If you ever want to use two external screens at once, I recommend this USB 3.0 to Dual HDMI Adapter. It requires the DisplayLink driver but it is easy to use and works seamlessly.
I’ve been using a portable KYY 15.6” monitor for js programming on macbook air (CS as well) and it’s been great. It’s usb c connection so no dongles and it powers from the computer. Currently $150.
This is a great question, the reason it’s different from group me is because we aim to create a database of knowledge which is easy for all students to navigate and find answers on at any time for specific class and major communities, this can be a challenge w GroupMe because helpful advice and answers shared on GroupMe disappear with new messages and there isn’t often an easy way for new participants in a group me to find those answers/advice
Moreover, it’s also really difficult to know of the existence of (and then get invited to) a group me for every class you’re in which has a sufficient number of current students and upperclassmen who’d all be willing to help; these are some of the reasons we think we’re different from group me.
As far as Piazza goes, we actually did a blog post type thing regarding why we’re different. Here’s a link to that here: https://www.notion.so/Why-Qwerty-is-different-from-Piazza-68c0a852d0d243b18eeece41f9cf1892
Why QWERTY is different from Piazza
With this being said, I’d love to have you be a part of our early access list to see if we’re actually living up to the differences we claim to have from GroupMe and Piazza!

I liked this light so much after the first few months that I purchased a second. Remote-controlled, 4/8/12 hr timer, dimmable, full-spectrum LED with multiple light settings. You can also adjust the height and swivel the individual rods for maximum exposure. It takes less than 2 minutes to assemble. If you want something small, there are ones of similar style that you can clip to your desk.
UVA's CS department from what I hear isn't super front-end or web oriented. The great thing with web technologies though is they're very well documented and easy to learn if you have familiarity with other programming languages. The Forge class like someone recommended is a good bet to take alongside your normal programming classes. I imagine LinkedIn Learning has some good stuff. I can vouch for this book as well if you learn well by doing: https://www.amazon.com/HTML-CSS-Design-Build-Websites/dp/1118008189/ref=sr\_1\_3?crid=VPXGHE57JFWQ&keywords=HTML+%2B+CSS&qid=1642442576&sprefix=html+%2B+css%2Caps%2C66&sr=8-3
This is strictly the most cost effective option: https://libgen.is/book/index.php?md5=B4A5345E888601C177A2D5107D334635
But you may wanna consider a physical book as it isn't an eyesore to read. If you're majoring in chem keep the book. Idk what Harmon's wants, but since they book is called organic chem and the class starts with general chem, Id assume it will have some usage later.
Hokie here. Just want to thank the UVA community for their support. Despite petty rivalries, we're all Virginians, and we're all human beings who care for each other.
I'd like to ask everyone to consider making a donation to the memorial fund for the slain officer, Derieck Crouse. He had five kids who will have a very tough Christmas this year.
EDIT: Donation information...
A memorial fund has been established to support the needs of the family of Deriek Crouse, the Virginia Tech Police officer who was fatally shot Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011. Those wishing to contribute can mail checks, payable to “Deriek Crouse Memorial Fund,” to the address below:
National Bank of Blacksburg Attn: Dana Sutphin P.O. Box 90002 Blacksburg, VA 24062-9002
Those seeking more information about the fund should call 540-552-2011 and ask to speak with Dana Sutphin, branch manager.
Expressions of support or condolence for the Crouse family can be sent to .
There is also an private fund online, if you prefer that: https://sites.google.com/site/hokiesforcrouse/
Thank you again, Hoos. Stay classy.
>however, I recently read that UVA offers aid to nearly 100% of their students.
UVA is rankd 3rd in terms of Kiplinger.com's best public schools for their value:
University of Virginia
"Also known as Mr. Jefferson's Academical Village (as in founder Thomas Jefferson), UVA posts the highest graduation rates in our rankings and offers the most generous need-based financial aid. The average need-based package -- $14,955 -- reduces the price for students who qualify to a bargain-basement $5,692."
His Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AntLand83
He plays "CityVille." Read this little golden nugget that I found on his wall in reference to the game:
> "Anthony Needs Donuts To Fuel Hungry Cops! The cops in Eragoniasville need a serious sugar buzz before hitting the streets to apprehend the bandits. Supply a donut and get one back!"
AHAHAHAH. Oh, the irony!
There was, but it looks like it hasn't been updated in 3 years. Here's a link to the Google Play Store to the app I was using when I lived closer to UVa. We're north of the airport now, so my info is a little outdated.
I started studying for the GRE about 2 months out from when I took it. I didn't want to start studying for it super early because then I'd forget all the vocab words I was cramming into my mind. I used this book, since it came with a few paper tests and 2 online ones.
I took the paper practice tests less seriously, just doing a section at a time throughout the day. It would take me maybe 2-3 days to finish a full test, but it was nice to get the practice in small bites so I didn't burn myself out. About 2 weeks before the real test, I took the 2 online ones they provided, each in a single sitting. That way I could get used to how it would feel to take the test.
Other than that, I looked up a list of about the 200 most common GRE vocab words, made a quiz let for them, and started cramming them into my mind over the course of about 2 months.
Make a kickass resume. Make a personal project (personal portfolio website is an easy one to start with). Then if you get interviews practice leetcode.
Also checkout this book called cracking the coding interview. If you make a project or two over winter break and also read this book, not only will you be prepared for some technical interviews but also be prepared for CS 2150.
Just apply to as many places as you can for the time being.
Hey y’all – I graduated from UVA (Lawn Resident, '16 CLAS) and I wrote an eBook (available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Chemistry-Techniques-Explained-Laymans-ebook/dp/B077SB3ZKF/ref=sr_1_79?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1535808939&sr=1-79&keywords=organic+chemistry) that explains all of the first semester lab techniques in easy-to-understand language. I understand Orgo lab can already be a difficult class “as-is,” so if you’re looking for a cheap resource to kick-start your understanding, the eBook may be a good fit for you. The reviews I’ve received so far have been positive, but if you download it and aren’t satisfied, please let me know how I could improve. Thanks in advance for checking it out!
I haven't used it yet, but someone in one of my classes recommended Mendeley, which is free and has four stars on the Google Play store, but kind of mixed reviews
Update: Ethernet adapter arrived today, and the setup worked! I use Private Internet Access as my VPN, and a UGREEN Ethernet adapter, but in theory, pretty much any VPN and any Switch-compatible Ethernet adapter should work. Connected my laptop to the VPN, then connected my Switch to the laptop and everything worked with no problems!
I have only tested with Splatoon 2 (and my only other online game is Super Bomberman R, so I can't test Mario Kart for you), but the NAT type went from D to B, so I would expect all games to work.
Hopefully this works for you (and anyone else trying this)! And PM me if you want to play some Splatoon, need people to play with lol
No you don't need a modem, just plug the supplied ethernet cable into the ethernet port in the wall of your dorm room (which is the modem, hence why you don't need to buy one) and into the router and you're good. Here is the router I used
I bought this modem used for a song, works great. This is the router I have, because it kept going on flash sale at one of those one sale per day sites.
