Good morning weakpots, intermediatepots, and strongpots!
(tryna be inclusive here)
I'm taking a sick day. I'm only vaguely sick-ish, but real real tired. I noticed yesterday at like 2 p.m. I was ready for it to be bedtime.
I think I legit need a break.
In other news I got me some fitkicks. I've also been doing some foot exercises from the foot-health book that /u/mr_sweater mentioned a while back. Foot gains incoming 4 sure
After reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up I piled every item of clothing onto my bed to go through one by one. By the time I was done I was sobbing (it's very emotional going through your items and deciding what gives you joy plus also I have my period). I have three huge suit cases of clothes to sell/donate and SIX garbage bags of clothes.
Getting rid of a lot of stuff that makes me feel bad/from my skinny-skinny phase, and a lot of things that make me feel like a child. I'm thirty, I don't need to own so much fast fashion. My closet is so empty but I like all the things in it.
Now for the rest of the house.
since it is matriarchy monday, I'm going to recommend this book to anyone who is a woman or likes to fuck women. I haven't finished it yet but its pretty good so far.
Sumo pulled 285x5 pretty easily yesterday, so I added 10 lbs and absolutely failed. stapled to the floor, couldn't even get one rep. So of course I flopped over the bar and screamed in frustration like a petulant child.
BUT my life is fulfilling because I love my gym and I CAN flop over and scream if I want to, and then my friend will point out exactly where my technique is breaking down. I don't know how to FIX it yet, but at least the world makes sense
I benched 320lb for sets of 3,3,2 & 2. I was supposed to do 3-5 sets of 3. I did 5x3 of LMAO3PLAET last mesocycle. This basically the same weight I got stuck at at the end of my last bulk. Except:
So after I also likely bomb my next OHP session, I'll deload for a week and then actually start begrudgingly eating and counting calories again. I hate food. Food is dumb. Eating is dumb.
Turns out I'm probably 5'9'' and not 5'10'', lol
Also: I'm 5'9'', 168 lb, 36'' waistline (so ~22% bodyfat), and my best pull is 285x3. me irl
I made a reading list. I like to see the disappointment in myself when I see what I could have done productively. Here it is
Origin of Species (currently halfway through)
Alice In Wonderland
The Complete Stories (Kafka)
We
The Souls of Black Folk
Grapes of Wrath
Eclectic Kool-Aid Acid Test
Book of Disquiet
The Bloody Chamber
Day of The Jackal

My Brilliant Friend
The Shock Doctrine
Huckleberry Finn
My weakpoint in my bench seem to have changed my fail at the middle now, rather than at my chest.
It's my irl birthday today and I got all my gifts earlier in the month so nothing too exciting is going to happen. I did ask my husband to "surprise me" with something from the bakery because I knew if I didn't ask he wouldn't think of it and then I would feel irrationally disappointed. Asking for what I want for the win.
EDIT: OMG I forgot the best thing that happened last week is that I finally surpassed my DL working weight that I was warming up for when I tweaked my back in April! It was just a spasm, but it took months to calm down and for me to stop dicking around with my PT exercises. Really proud of how much stronger I've become since then and the improvement in my form.
There is a survey on strengtheory.com that allows you to access this huge guide to benching written by Greg.
It's got a crazy amount of information in it
http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/2769449/Strengtheory-Deep-Dive-Survey?__s=347bzwgnrqsooj35cvdg
I have been told that I'm not allowed to get this for our holiday, because its too expensive.
On the plus side, I can check off all the squares bar the religion one.
New squat PR after a 5x5: https://www.instagram.com/p/-BKED3oaN9/ PROGRESS HO
My shoulder has been hurting, I probably need to do some more rehab/prehab stuff with it, or see a physiotherapist at some point. Eh, time to get some resistance bands I think.
Not to be a douchecanue, but you should read Models by Mark Manson. It's male self help and empowerment disguised as a PUA manual. It's definitely shown results, and I've sent it to all my friends, guy or girl. Read it.
pm me for a pdf
I mean, we're talkin' about King Kendrick [and I meant it] and 2pac.
This is the best Sundea anyone has ever had in combining hip-hop and lifting.
I have no clue wtf I'm doing with my programming. I'm just costing until the end of the year I think and then might hop on the J&T 2.0 train or the GZCL/Deathbench program and sandbag my deadlift. Either way, I'm eating more so probably 180s soon.
Also, I'm reading "Man's Search for Meaning" and it's really helping my crazy-addicted brain. I think I expected that once I got clean, I'd be all happy and energetic and whatnot when I haven't been. Realizing the difference between happiness and meaning, as well as actually trying in life, has been great. I finally feel like I turned a corner in my addiction/brain weirdness. I'm hoping it's a good sign of things to come.
I felt like that for a while. I still don't smoke or drink but now I feel completely differently about it. I just don't want to do it but I have nothing against it. I suggest learning to be ok around it, though. I can go to a party and be the only sober person and have an ok time. People really respect that and it makes me so much less of a buzzkill than the people who won't be around it. Also I can DD for my friends so they appreciate that.
As far as girls go you look way better than me, and way fucking better than I have in the past. This is me at the time when I was the most successful with girls which was this summer. You don't need to cut to get girls, you look good. Just socialize more, talk to more people, and make more friends. That leads to you meeting more girls but treat everyone like a person, not a girl or guy and if you like someone talk to them more. See where it gets you.
Still feeling like a (very exhausted) brick shithouse. I did side bends with a 55 pound kettlebell today. I strict pressed 80 pounds for triples.
My husband and I are theoretically going backpacking this weekend. We still need to buy a small tent, a new sleeping bag for me, and food. And we haven't asked for Friday off of work yet. Or arranged pet care. Really going into this half-assed, but that's part of the fun.
The deals were better today when I checked on the flavors I wanted. I was able to order 6 boxes of cookie dough (they wouldn't let me buy 10 for some reason), and 4 of cookies and cream. came to like 18-19 a box. then ordered 2 a couple days ago using this
I find it is helpful to be super dramatic about it.
Some people try to let out as little air as possible at the top of the rep (don't breathe out at the bottom of the rep), which is why you hear that hissing noise from a lot of lifters.
I prefer to exhale more and take in big breaths at the top of each rep. You can see what I mean here
And honestly you should not be trying to breathe in as deeply as possible. That is going to cause you to lose tightness. You want to breathe in enough to brace your core again at the top of the rep, but not so much that you're changing your body position.
I'm bored af at work. My product launched on Friday ("lets launch on a Friday afternoon, what could go wrong?"), so there's really not much to do. And I guess it's spring break in the rich suburban counties because no one is in the office (including my boss).
I went to get a haircut because no one told me not to, but the place was closed. And I realized it's just about long enough to donate, so I'll do that in like a month I guess?
I was supposed to go to Florence next week, but I don't think I'm going because I think my boss doesn't want me to. But I'm literally just looking at Cordova tutorials (I ran out of McMansion Hell 😭), so really being productive...
Ooooh, maybe I'll try to get irc going on my work computer/internet!
I recommend Courage Under Fire by James Stockdale. It's a shorter read but it's had a tremendous impact on how I live my life. Another great book is Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. I'm almost done with it and it's been an amazing read. /u/needupv0tes recommended it to me a while back.
Sumo is still going on. Been on like, 6-8 weeks of 8s. Started with around 280 or 290 and working on 10 lb jumps until I hit 5 sets of 8. Hanging around 360 for 5-6. Might hang out and keep doing 320-360 for 8 until I get it or cut it down to sets of 5s with 350-360-370 and go from there.
Squats tanked Monday. Just couldn't find the groove. Bench is holding strong.
As far as life? Nothing new there. Working 70ish hours a week, still living with the ex and we're still on good terms, being a dad is fun though.
Edit: Apparently, I drive more with my right side just a bit more than my left. Interesting.

basically as I drop my hips to initiate the pull, my shins are pushing the bar away from me. I'm cueing myself to pull the bar close and all that shit before I pull, but that doesn't matter if I'm just going to kick it away lol. So by the time I actually try to break the floor its too far in front of me. I made another insta post about it... I'm doing it in the first 3 clips, less so in the 4th. In particular, look at the shadow the bar casts on my left leg (viewer's right) in the 3rd clip. See how it moves drastically because the bar moved forwards?
I looked at some sumo video from Saturday too, which was a good training day. I had some side angles then and you can definitely see it roll away from me, it was just light enough for me to muscle through.
looking forward to picking my coach's brain over this and fixinnnggg ittt ugghhhh
I was backing out of my garage and when I realized what I had just run over there was quite the panic since it was like $250 after insurance... and actually I just went on amazon to see how much it would have been to replace... and it's 60 fucking bucks with same day shipping wtf?
Feeling a little defeated with the job search. I applied for a position at a nearby hospital, only to find it was re-posted a couple weeks later and I never got a call. A part-time position also opened up at the same place. Then last night I got an email from the hospital I did my practicum at asking if I was interested in taking a summer position. With all the travel and having to further crosstrain somebody at work, it just doesn't make sense, which is a shame because I would love to take it. I worry with the current work environment what that would even mean for my stability here should I take it and come back in the Fall. It all just sucks.
I had a wild nap dream last night. Basically the sky started raining meteorites, I was back in my hometown and it was absolute chaos. One of those dreams where you don't really ever stop running. Then I went for a bike ride and couldn't even open my eyes and had to stop in a couple spots because the bugs were so thick. Blegh.
Got excited to deadlift tonight and then saw there isn't a deadlift day on JnT2, it's a front squat day instead. If I can get my shit together maybe I'll add one. Also going to give IF another shot using the Zero app. Kevin Rose (founder of Digg.com from way back when) created it but it was only on iOS for the longest time. It's pretty slick.
I am very new to sumo but I would think angling over the bar would be bad. Not to say there can't be any angle... if you look at Rori Alter's sumo it looks unusual but it works for her. But her shins still aren't going over the bar.
I have paused sumo programmed for Saturday so I'm thinking that will be a good opportunity to really focus on my positioning/control
I know :(. I failed it again after (very intelligently) going back at night and trying one more time. Them misgrooves'll getcha :<
This is the router that came fairly highly recommended back in the day when I was looking then I got a down spiral cut bit for my plunge cuts (1/4" since that is what the jasper jig uses), a few roundover/chamfer bits, and a flush trim... Bosh makes pretty good bits for the price so I usually stick with them. Looks like amazon is even running a $20 off dewalt tools right now too.
As far as a "bench" you don't need anything fancy most of my work has been done on a piece of 2'x4' ply on saw horses. With powertools you don't have much lateral force so you don't need something as sturdy as you would if you're using planes, hand saws, and chisels. You just have to be careful about making sure things are balanced and clamped properly so you don't accidentally tip your work surface. Bonus is that it can be folded up and stored easily and if you need a special spot to clamp just right I just cut into the ply.
If you have amazon prime, I think you can choose a "get it tomorrow" option and get it tomorrow...I've had this for 2 years and it has been working fine.
American Amazon Privilege. There are so many!
If you're stuck with a sweatshirt and knot a knit jumper some embroidery floss and a weekend adding some stitching over the fake stitching could be very worthwhile.
I think they could complete. Lately our Costco only has regular fit stretch jeans. These are athletic fit stretch jeans. Haven't ordered them yet though. The first review said if you don't skip leg day, you will love these.
Long story short I decided to make protein bars. Using this as a guideline I made my own recipe because fuck that's a lot of bananas and in the pic you see the end result.
That was my first time baking unsupervised, and the whole thing took me 15-20' (excluding baking time).
Recipe follows:
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Ektelesh:
Nutritional value of the above ingredients (courtesy of mfp):
Of course try to experiment by swapping stuff out/in. Remember that oats + bananas add to the thickness/consistency. Eggs add to the 'fluffiness'. If you want to make them more tasty just add butter, peanut butter, or replace skim milk to full fat - fats add to the taste of something.
Was thinking of these but the reviews are pretty bleh. I'm thinking maybe with comply foam tips they could be amazeballs though?
Any recommendations, audiopots?
this was basically the cheapest way to be able to have dumbbells I could find so it was kinda hard to pass up.
Yeah actually, it's a free yearly festival called Folklife, and because anyone can show up you get a lot of these types.
I was at said festival when I was 17 with some high school buddies, and we dropped a dollar in this bands can and they got excited and started cracking jokes with us, then they broke into an uptempo stomper with the lyrics "alien vomit" repeated over and over for about 45 seconds at which point the song was over. I look around on the internet for them every once in a while hoping that they've gotten a deal with a major label or something.
I spent mad cash this week on fitness which will have very little positive effect on my training but I'm okay with that. I purchased $100 worth of supplements from one website (HMB, cyclic carbs and caffeine), $230 from another website (Cannibal Ferox stuff), another $275 on a bike rack for my car and finally I paid $250 for some workout equipment that I found in the classifieds.
A guy was selling a bunch of stuff and asking $300. I offered $250 and he accepted. In all, I bought;
All in it's pretty good for $250. However, I still managed to spend $855 on fitness stuff in one day. Time to curb my spending for awhile.
I slept in this morning and didn't run. But technically it's a rest day in my program so whatevs. Might go tonight but that will surely affect deadlifts tomorrow morning, and I'd much rather deadlift than run.
~~I'm going to save the rest and actually post on /r/weakpotscouture .~~ Scratch that, sub is empty.
Welp, while reddit was down the rest of my comment disappeared. Anyway. Bought some UNIQLO Dry-Ex shorts and a shirt that are the bomb. The shorts aren't as heavy as I thought, and are stretchier. If you've got a nice butt they would definitely be flattering. The shirt is weird, I was under the impression it was an everyday t-shirt but it feels like a gym shirt. The material is that stretchy (not sure if it's sweat-wicking) material Nike/Under Armor shirts have, and the back is a fine mesh (can't see through it when you're wearing it, as far as I can tell). I just don't want to be the guy wearing "athleisure" apparel outside of the gym. Also got some Dry Stretch Easy shorts that feel great. Someone here recommended trying the Stretch Easy ones a few months ago, thank you for that!
Lastly, picked up some new kicks for cheap. I wanted something casual enough I could wear with shorts, but not so casual they'd look stupid if I wear a button down and khakis to work. Very happy with these choices. Everything else will look better when I drop some weight too. I'm just tired of not feeling comfortable in my clothes and feeling like shit whenver I consider buying more.
Right now, Viktor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning." Prior to that, I read Sam Harris' "Lying" and a book called "The Craving Brain" regarding addiction.
After Frankl, it will either be Bill Nye's "Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation" or Nietzsche's "Beyond Good and Evil."
It was Man's Search for Meaning. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. It would probably one of my first choices of books to make mandatory reading in school. It really fundamentally changed my perspective on life.
> Something like the 60% of teams that have been down 2-0 in the DS have been swept
EYBS has seen that one before. To quote ya boy...
But in all seriousness I'm kinda glad the Rangers got swept so we didn't end up being the first team to get dropped in the DS. If you guys vanquish the Dodgers in the NLCS you'll have my undying devotion for 3-5 years.
Huh, wow. My normal procedure is either a full wipe and backup restore to be 99% safe or throwing every tool I can or grabbing shadow copies at essential user files (so in your case, notes) to try and recover them. Biggest expense will be time while the guy sits around waiting for scans to finish or file copies if he can recover anything, they can take hours to finish.
Also, Id very highly suggest you looking to the following solutions for password protection :
http://keepass.info/ << inexpensive (free) but slightly more involved than others. Great community to help with every situation. Keepass works by creating a database file on your computer and nowhere else allowing you total control over your sensitive information. It takes a bit more work to sync your passwords but again, the knowledge is out there.
https://lastpass.com/ << Very good, bang for buck ($12 per year) solution, wonderful support team, works on every operating system and major browser. Lastpass works by using their cloud application to store your passwords on their servers with a great level of security.
Ive used both a lot and actually really, really like Lastpass though I currently use Keepass to have more control.
Oh and it looks like REI is having an extra 20% off most of their outlet/garage gear
Oh and looking it up it looks like my gloves are actually goat leather not lamb... and amazon has them on sale for ~$75 instead of 130.
cheap yoga mat (I've had great success with the cheapest one from Amazon as long as I keep it away from cats' claws) is totally fine as long as you pair it with a towel like yogitoes. I love my yogitoes, totally fixes any sliding around problems. Only downside is they're kinda spendy
There's several products in the amlactin line, you can get it in stores, but here is one example (of many) on amazon and apparently it has lactic acid, btw.
OOH. You ever use chamois butter? You basically use it to grease up your taint/nipples/whatever might chafe for running/biking/paddling etc. There are quite a few creams that work like this, butt this one is one of my favorites. It's a game changer!
"The Millionaire Next Door" is good if you're into the whole "this is what rich people do differently" thing.
I liked "I Will Teach You To Be Rich" for an introductory "this is how to get your financial life together".
"A Random Walk Down Wall Street" is another classic. However, I do occasionally read stuff by crazy people about how I need to invest in Chinese cyber gold to remind myself that financial product fads happen all the time and my index funds will never fail me.
I recommend also reading "Mindfulness in Plain English". It's like the SS of /r/meditation, quick to read and all online. You can just skip to the "how to" part of it, but the "why" part helps to figure out the mindset
I can really only talk about the things that helped me, but I think other people probably have similar problems to mine.
Accept that meditation will sometimes be challenging. Accept that you will be distracted at times and that is okay. Try to recognize when you are making judgments (about yourself or others) and let them go.
Also just recognize that meditation is not going to do anything on its own. Whatever mental state you accomplish from meditation needs to be carried with you throughout the day for as long as possible. It's important when going about your life, working, eating, doing chores, training, etc to recognize when you are going far "off the path" and try to ground yourself again. Sometimes it just takes a couple of breaths to do that.
Also, you are what you do repeatedly. The more habitual you are about observing your own mental state and going back to the breath, the easier it gets.
I would highly recommend Thich Nhat Hanh's book The Miracle of Mindfulness to a beginner.
Because it hasn't been mentioned yet, I use FitNotes as my in gym notes to record what I do and then re-log it into TSR. I also use Google Spreadsheets to plan my workouts ahead of time.
I've never tried a 3 personally so I can't say but this is Liz Craven our top female lifter who's all of 5ft fucking nothing and she's wearing a 4" Titan Longhorn but as she's a sumo puller she has to bend her torso less of course.
For reference, here is the knockoff slingshot:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TQVBRZD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am 210# at 5'11", bicep flexed with no pump is about 16.5", and I bought a L. It would fit arms much bigger than mine.
I finished The Hazel Wood, a fun YA book about creepy fairy tales. I actually like it quite a bit. Now reading The Gift of Fear, a book about using intuition and fear to avoid being a victim of violence. It's a really dark book, but amazing at the same time.
This week is my first week of an increased TM, I did squats, I did 14 reps for my +5 top set, but it was really hard, which means my TM is correct, which means I'm figuratively weak sauce spaghetti sauce. I'm not Paul Newman's, not even Prego, I'm the store brand Ragu knock-off. I'm tomato puree with some oregano.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I04Z52G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I was really happy with it before and it fits my low ceiling.
Wally World has had 40# adjustable dumbell sets for $40 pretty steadily and I'm building a set slowly, so I may just keep that up and then work on heavier DBs as I find them available (or if I can find 10# standard plates on CL)
It's so good! And I determined it's pretty accurate! The morning of my meet, I weighed myself on that scale, then weighed in at the meet, and they were pretty much the same (one in lbs, one in kgs, but after accounting for that). My scale read 180.6 lbs, and I weighed in at 82.06 kg.
The one's for this winter break are:
I have a few more that I'd like to get through should time allow.
What are you reading these days?
The prong system is amazeballs. It's got the adjustment ability of a normal double prong but the easy on and off solution like a lever. It's faaaabulous!
Edit: in case anyone wonders how it works: https://www.instagram.com/p/9wk2qJobqc/
They're not that expensive lol maybe this'll work?
When I was working in oil and gas, I was clean because I never used anything, so I peed in a lot of these or shit I’ve even just peed in ziplock bags lol. Just google about keeping them warm and hopefully you got a buddy with some clean urine ha
I ain't no expert, but it could be.
I'm not willing to give up higher rep work for purely pulling singles, but I think I'm going to play with balancing the two approaches. Deadlifting is definitely a skill and it's one that I need practice at, as much as I need to be "stronger" in general.
No, it'd be all wonky and uneven. I suppose I could raise my feet with my 2" blocks and see how that works. The gizmo idea is cause I saw this thing and it looked super comfy for split squats compared to the bench, and then yesterday doing the hip thrusts I thought that an optional big pad would make it work for hip thrusts too, and I could probably make it with odds and ends I have laying around.
My ghetto cambered bar. It puts less strain on my shoulders and sits the weight further forward so you really have to fight it to straighten up. It used to be a safety squat bar til it fell over and the handles broke off. Cheap piece of shit really but it works.
That looks like a CAP 3x3 rack - if I'm right, when the thin layer of tape on the j hooks disintegrates, these are one of the few replacements available, and they're great:
vikofan 3"x3" J-Cup J-Hook... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08THF8NVF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Of course it depends
The one I always get is 80 calories and 14g of protein. That's .175g/calorie
I think most protein powders are .17-.2, so you could find a protein powder that is better, but when I was cutting I much preferred to eat something than drink it
Ooh, you want an ILNP ultra chrome. They're my favorite polishes.
For something more subtle and reminiscent of an actual pearl, China Glaze Pearl Jammin' is great. I have a suspicion that it could be used as a topper with other polishes to make them pearlescent, but I haven't tried it yet.
Started transitioning from cut to bulk yesterday, starting to notice what people say about the appetite suppressant nature of amphetamines. Required conscious effort to get the food in and it wasn't a notable surpluss amount.
Side note - discovered this amazing fucking website I wanna be moving to more of a mediteranean diet and was umming and ahhing over planning meals but this is sick. Just going to spin that wheel a thousand times and populate a meal plan.
Plan from now is about 4 weeks transition increasing calorie intake, lifting load, and cardio. Get rid of all the sloppiness in barbell work, and then keep everything around it fun and new and weird. Then back to bulking... Might switch up programming - Genuinely thinking of just buying all those old-timey strong man books like Moulding a mighty back and using those just for the memes.... Probably end up doing a Grog or back to 5/3/1.
Got a nice lift in, introducing a mate to the ghetto bunker gym (it's in a bomb shelter).
Bench, Incline, landmine rows, barbell pull-overs... I forgot how absolutely humbling pull-overs can be, was shaking washing my hands from tired lats lol.
Been dog sitting for a week. Cute dog, but jesus christ what a pain she is, she 'yips' in her sleep and it wakes me 3 times a night at least.... now she's refusing to shit so I've had to give her coconut oil to uh...ease things along. I swear to god, if I get home and have to clear up oily dog shit I'm going to ask for double the payment for this lol.
I've blocked her from being able to get on any soft-furnishings at least....
Might for a run later, embrace the ol' "working achilles' again.
It's nice to be more mentally present in here and in lifting. I've missed you guys and gals.
How are y'all doing?
I bought these recently: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BHWFH1W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Am very happy with the quality for the price. I would love to have a dip station on my rack but I don't know that it would stand up to the abuse
book recommendation as well

Have owned both before and been quite happy with them. My flat bench is good for much more weight so I'll probably use it for regular bench and then this for incline work, seated press, and curls.
The strip (hah) lights are just these. They've held up for a year so far.
The lights in the sconces are some brand of smart bulb that I can't remember. They are merely okay.
A therapist trained in it is the best option, but honestly, my therapist was kind of crap at it and I learned more from this book than I learned from her. Specifically, DBT's concept of distress tolerance is what helped me. Here's some more information on that.
Good luck! I'm a strong advocate of therapy, but I understand where you're coming from.
Is it this book? Because it is the single most important book about music I have ever read, EVER. I discovered it at the end of three years of guitar lessons. I was mad, because I wish I had read it sooner - the guitar lessons would have made more sense...I still pick that book up pretty frequently.
I'm in for guitar updates! I went on the same journey of moving away from tabs to learn theory. Now I have the opposite problem, where I never play any tabs, I just play my own stuff, so I'm not really stretching my technique library at all.
sorry, I get really excited about music!! What kind of music do you like to play?
Unsolicited update: I bought this thing.
It's light enough that I'm not worried about finding an ideal spot to hang it, and heavy(ish) enough that it will hopefully be satisfying to smack. Possibly the worst of all worlds? Only time will tell!
I'm thinking about getting a punching bag for the basement, as another fun/alternative cardio workout. Someone on /r/xxfitness recommended this one, but it kinda looks like it would blow over in a stiff breeze. Does anyone have recommendations?
Monitoring my moods very carefully this week - I think the first signs of seasonal depression are popping up. Or maybe that's just how 2020 feels all the time.
Succulents in windows are generally a bad idea, right? Since I feel bad about being in Home Depot and my favorite plant shop is closed, I bought some of these from Amazon along with pots that are probably a hair too big. So I guess I gotta go..Home Depot is still selling gardening stuff, right?
One of the grounds guys at my apartment told me someone had their door, frame and all kicked in by a drunk neighbor who thought burnt pizza at 1am = full on fire they needed to help with. Absolute hilarity. We're down to one "pest" sighting over the last 72 hours, I guess my aggressive spraying plus the exterminator getting really into my basement and being a neat freak has driven them away.
Oh yeah even normally they're going to be expensive per unit weight and that's a bit worse right now with so much gym related stuff bring sold out indefinitely.
I got mine from Amazon because I'm not sure how to boycott Amazon and still have essential things like change plates delivered to my door during a pandemic (sorry okayatsquats I know Amazon is Bad in a lot of ways).
The set I got is apparently not available now, but it's this one
44SPORT Olympic Fractional Plates...
Here's a similar set to the one I got
Check out Strength Shop also, that's where I got my original set of 1/4 kg change plates that was making okayatsquats twitch every time I reported my lifts in mixed units 😂
Weight is weight but it is nicer to have consisted units plus these lil guys are painted real nice. The strength shop ones are actually terrible quality but I used them for a while, they were adequate.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
> I take a PWO, but it's caffeine-less. Just lots of aminos and shit.
If there are any other stimulants in there, that's going to be a tough current to swim against. I would be surprised if the melatonin was actually the cause of that, instead of some other variable.
Things I like:
Cold Showers
The kava tea
A cool room to sleep in
F.Lux on screens
Avoiding anything to do with planning or thinking about tomorrow
A body pillow to hold
https://www.amazon.com/LyteShow-Electrolyte-Concentrate-Rehydration-Magnesium/dp/B00EISFBYA just get a bottle of this, dose before bed and when waking up after drinking. Cheaper and more convenient than getting Pedia lyte every time and works real well once you get over the fact it's like drinking ocean water.
Expand your world view and get a smoker. I have the 18 inch and I can make better bbq than I've ever gotten in a restaurant. I also have a cheapo electric powerwasher so clean up is a breeze. That smoker is the reason I signed up for Amazon Prime tbh.
Get the one on Amazon prime day right meow! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FLYWNYQ/
(but seriously if you're going to go serious on a pressure cooker get something like a kuhn rikon which is way better and worth the investment)
It hasn't been that bad for me so far, but I've still got 3% to go according to my calipers.
Speaking of which, highly recommend buying some calipers so you can actually measure your body composition. These are what I use, they are okay but getting them to click has been kind of iffy because of their design. I've also seen these recommended, they seem like a much more reliable mechanism but do cost a bit more.
