Remembered to do Lavendursday this week and it was really great. I had originally bought Sapone di Paolo Agrume when it was the only flavor available, but was interested in the other offerings. Managed to hook up a trade for the Piccante and it is now my go-to lavender-heavy soap. A nice, spicy lavender that paired really well with CdL. Plus, it is slick as hell and has a supremely unique feel, unlike anything else I've ever tried. Dense and slick. Really great stuff. Nice shave, better smells, and a great Lavendursday to all!
<strong>Semi-François</strong>
My first shave with the LPV I got in my Catie's Bubbles split buddy, /u/chill31613 (who was also nice enough to send me a Bufflehead A1A sample and Reef Point Intrepid sample, both of which I can't wait to try). The LPV was a really amazing scent that I loved. I was afraid I may react to it poorly like it did with Pantie Dropper (version 1), but it was no problem at all. It's such a rich, deep smell that went quite well with GLS. Also, the two times I've used CB so far, I'm just floored by the slickness. Really outstanding results. Hopefully a certain lady will think the same tonight.
<strong>It's Quatre Cent Vingt Somewhere</strong>
This is my first use of Catie's Bubbles, and I'll have to admit that it's pretty dank. Jokes aside, the smell of weed was barely there, but it was a nice floral smell that whipped up easily with very little water and was pretty slick. For a day that is going to warm up to 67 American degrees, these are some really great smells.
<strong>Welcome Home Shave</strong>
I don't have a really great match for Cedar & Spice, so I guess I'll have to pick up the splash. This was still a pretty enjoyable match, however, and gave a nice, earthy feeling. First shave back home and it was great to be back.
Not to be rude, but this is going to be a problem no matter when it's posted. Currently the thread is posted at 3AM EST, and midnight PST. If you pushed it back, it'd be nighttime on the west coast.
I'm not sure what W_S's demographic is but I'm gonna guess it's fairly in line with Reddit at large, which is to say about 50% American. Personally I liked when they were posted around 7AM EST since that was about when I was done shaving anyway.
Wife bought me Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits by David Wong. John Dies at the End and This Book is Full of Spiders were great fun so I'm hoping I enjoy this one too. The writing in JDatE had me laughing so hard sometimes that I got to where I couldn't read in bed for keeping the wife awake. Haven't gotten into the new one yet but I'm hoping its good!
So here's the finished product, as I said I would share it when finished. I might bid on this myself during the basket raffle!
EDIT: For anyone who would like the "Introduction to Wet Shaving" PDF I made, here is a direct link.
No lie, this is the best 29.99 you'll ever spend! Think about the look on your families face as you chase them around the house with tiny razorblade shaped propellers (prop guards not included) turning at 20k rpms.
CostCo has a deal on CeraVe. After discount and free shipping it turns out to be 7.99
i think the PPF can't be beat for scents, i use the sandalwood one and really like it. but my other go to is this one , it is an aloe-based roll-on, don't ask me why it works, but it freaking does. not an anti-perspirant, but it is gangbusters for odor-control. inexpensive too.
Hmm, my understanding was that USPS was delivering <strong>only</strong> Amazon packages on Sundays. Although I suppose if the mail carrier has other packages on their route, it might make more sense to go ahead and deliver them anyways--especially before the huge rush in packages about to happen in the next few weeks.
Yeah, $12, quality blade, very light, ingenious locking mechanism that will lock it either open or closed. I probably am going to pick to a no. 8, too, little bit bigger, but the 6 is perfect for my pocket.
I know I've seen it before, I think it looks a lot like a chinese or pakistani razor found here as the "DQS187". I'll be damned if I can find it right now, but I know I've seen a name for it somewhere.
Edit: Apparently, /u/Mantic59 has seen one but had trouble identifying it. The comments say it is Pakistani.
Yup. One bite of rice and beans, one bite of jalapeño. Every bite, every meal. My grandfather on my mom's side had beans and rice with every meal no matter what the protein was. The exception was breakfast, but only about half the time. Usually there were beans and rice there, too.
Green chile with every meal, too. Usually hot or medium-hot.
My other grandfather would roast his own chile. His family is from Hatch, so there was no shortage of long green chile (mmmmm, Barker). He'd lay a bunch out on aluminium foil and roast them with a weed torch to absolute perfection. You can't find a better roaster than him and his brothers. All the time and energy that goes into peeling improperly roasted chile was an unwelcome surprise the first time I didn't go to Hatch to have it roasted.
So I have something like 50+ soaps between full pucks and samples. It was starting to get difficult to keep track of what I was using when, while still ensuring I'm trying new products. So I build a calendar for the soap I'd use each day of the month. I just listed all of my soaps by number in a spreadsheet, then went to <http://www.random.org> and chose a random number for each day. Plugged those numbers into the calendar, and transferred the names. I did have a few caveats though, since Barrister & Mann is my favorite performing soap, it had to be used at least 3 times a week and every Sunday. So some days I chose products manually. I also left room so that if there's something different I want to try, I can cross off the scheduled soap and use something else.
>Plans are currently underway for the 13th National Shaving Collectibles Meeting on October 22, 2016, in West Chester, Ohio.
That info is from a summary email that Jerry sent out shortly after the last meeting this past October. As mentioned in other comments here, I have attended this meeting the past three years. I will be honest and say it is pretty small, around 50 people in attendance and many of them are shaving mug collectors, not wetshaving enthusiasts. Actually many of the attendees are older men who just collect shaving gear and don't even use any of it. You can find some good stuff there but it's more like having all of Ebay's shaving collectibles category gathered into one room, ie some of the stuff can get a bit junky.
It is still a fun, short day with some presentations and history discussed; there was one by Jerry showing his trip to Italy where he got to tour a razor museum in Milan, Italy and another by a guy helping Gillette sort through their archives (he literally found a dozen Toggles, mint in box!).
Also mentioned in comments here, the fee to attend is $60, I think maybe a bit more if you just come the day of, but it helps pay for the space which is a large conference room at a small university adult learning center and also for lunch and snacks (deli meat/cheese sandwich trays, sodas, bottle water, chips, cookies, etc).
The STF does have more backbone than the Plisson Cade, it's true.
FYI: http://www.forvo.com/word/karité/ - it means shea (tree). If you like IK, I recommend the L'Occitane balms.
I know you have AdP in there somewhere do you prefer XXX over AdP?
You're right! There's a bit more green this time around. We tried to stick to a color scheme, specifically this one. I inadvertently changed the color of the usernames in the comments to the same green, which probably will be changed to the slate color in the palette for better contrast.
There was a great little shop called Good Scents but recent reviews say that the shop has closed and to call the lady. Bummer because they had a pretty good selection of shaving gear.
Might want to head a little outside of the city for antiquing. I recall the shops within the city to be way overpriced for the stuff I was looking at.
On a $25 budget, I highly recommend this one. Made by the same company as the Thermapen, same thin probe, reading in 5 seconds vs. 3 and the display is smaller/harder to read. The Thermapen is better, but not 4x better.
Amazon floats around $10/100. Setup a deal alert at camelcamelcamel if you want to save the extra buck or two when it hits a low.
Also, russian blades are still cheap. $7/100 plus s/h.
The blade is basically unsupported, and has a ton of exposure. Add to that the only way it works for me is steep angle (which I hate), so, yeah, it chatters a lot.
If you want to try it, just whack the safety bar off a $10 Tech or a cheap RiMei DE. The only tool you really need is a file.
Edit: added RiMei link
Im currently reading 'The New Rules Of Lifting For Women' And have 'Strong Curves' On my list along with 'Hyperbole and a Half.'
For those of you who really like reading check out scribd! Its like netflix but for books!
it's great. The best part to me is that it brings you places you may never have gone, even in your hometown or city. I have discovered 2 really cool places in my small city that I never knew existed.
first make an account on geocaching.com
If you have an android phone you can use cgeo LinkMe c:geo
You can click the "nearby" to see whats close to you to find. Or use the geocaching website to check out the crazy number of caches local to you. You can do that without a login.
There is a premium membership to geocaching.com but I didn't buy it until recently. It just unlocks some "premium only" caches so don't worry about that at the start.
Well, your name is the winning one, so that's what we're going with ! :)
(My only real concern is watching people pronounce it. I have a fougère soap already, and despite it being a not that uncommon French word, it still gets butchered. )
To anyone looking to have a somewhat more enjoyable experience: http://hexchat.github.io/
I'm clienkill in the IRC chat room and can help you with whatever you need, I've been using Hexchat for years.

I've been trying to tear through The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt between studying and part time work.
Its a really good read about his life before his presidency. I'm just getting through his years at Harvard and its motivated me to be more studious and socially active here at college.
I'm reading something that is so incredibly interesting, so enthralling it's taking all my effort to browse Reddit and post this comment. The book is called Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship.
Sometimes I hate that I care about my job.
I just finished Endurance by Alfred Lansing. It's the story of the first attempted land crossing of Antarctica in 1915. It's the most insane survival story I've ever read, and really puts anything I've ever complained about into perspective.
I'm now starting to reread Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I've read it a couple of times over the past few years, and I really like his message about the personal values that lead to success.
I'm in the middle of reading Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. It's all part of my project to read a bunch of classic works now that I'm older. I studied philosophy in college, but have noticed that my appreciation and understanding of these works has grown as I've gotten older. Next up is Schumacher's Small Is Beautiful, and then I think I'm going to restart a project I was working on a few years ago with regards to The Harvard Classics.
I'm working on finishing some books outstanding in my currently reading list, namely Shelby Foote's The Civil War, Vol. 1 and Chernow's Washington: A Life. I'm also continuing Lawrence in Arabia and have just finished The Orphan Master's Son a few days ago.
I'm reading some Dan Brown The Lost Symbol and Charles Duhigg The Power of Habit. I decided to take a break from some of the other books I've been reading and have been struggling to get through since they're slightly boring.
Last summer I resolved to finish the three classic "military leadership" books present in every Fortune 500 CEO's library:
The Art of War
The Prince
The Book of Five Rings
Almost done with two now. There's some really good stuff in these pages.
Trying to get into mindfulness meditation and was recommended to check out Mindfulness in Plain English as a starting point.
I have no strop, only a straight razor from dovo, this one: http://www.amazon.com/Dovo-Silver-Shavette-Straight-Holder-Matt/dp/B001ASOD86/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1461162769&sr=8-2&keywords=dovo+straight+razor
I've cut myself a few times so far. And iv'e also tried a safety razor from Italy. It's easier to use with the soap and lathers nicely. I;m not a strong scent guy.
Most importantly, what other things do I need other than bowl, razor and strop?
Thanks!

Got it on Amazon, Parker Synthetic. I didn't even really let it dry. Just snap the water out as much as I could and threw it in my bag. Hell, I liked it so much I use it instead of my badger and boar brushes.
I like Hut Ultragloss Polish and then I like Liberon Black Bison Wax after that. I use these with a large cotton wheel on my lathe.
If it needs more "oomph" I agree on the Meguiar Plastx. I have used Flitz as well using my Dremel with a cotton wheel.
I'm reading Cracking the Coding Interview. Needless to say, it's about as fun as fucking a wet sock.
this one
edit: To be clear I'm not critiquing your product I can get a perfect lather every time with my synthetic or my Omega Boar hair.
Do you think drywall anchors would be sufficient? (I think it might come with some - http://smile.amazon.com/DecoBros-Two-Sided-Extension-Magnification-13-5-Inch/dp/B00LKSZMW2/ .) I saw someone recommending toggle bolts due to the weight.
Not sure on a contemporary comparison, but you can get this via Amazon..
The last brush I had the knot pop out of (A TGC synthetic) I used E6000 to glue it back in. This is a flexible clear epoxy-like industrial strength glue that is water proof. So far it has worked perfectly. Being flexible is a boon here as the handle and knot can both swell a bit with changes in temperature and humidity which will cause hard glues to crack and fail.
I would highly recommend not using a loofah and instead get a salux bath towel. It's way more exfoliating and last forever because once you hang it it dries in minutes instead of being constantly wet in the center breeding bacteria. I switched a over a year ago and am still on my same towel. It got a little less exfoliating in the first month and then stabilized.
> nowhere really for me to put my brush down in between passes.
Exactly why I was looking at this one a few days ago. I'd love to be able to shave in the shower, but I have found all these "fogless" mirrors to be a joke. Seems like this design would actually work.
I just picked up A Canticle for Leibowitz and I hope to start getting into this book this weekend. Allegedly this book was the inspiration for the original Fallout PC game.
Yeah, I was on a box pass where somebody clearly confused the Muhle and Van der Hagen logos. (Hey, they've both got windmills!) Then again, it was interesting to see in person just how poorly the VdH badger brush is made.
What about just shipping the stuff in full-size jars and letting people take samples themselves? The main problem then is portion control. Including 5g containers would tend to limit people to that amount, but they get bulky pretty quick.
Maybe you could start with, say, 50 jars and ask people to drop a buck in the box for each 5 jars they take? Then when the jars run out the next person can take the money and order another 50 from Amazon.
Grab a cheap Corelle bowl. For whatever reason, soap samples stick real well to the bowl when mashed down. And, since it's glass, you can stick the bowl in the dishwasher when finished with the sample and, viola!, no residual shave soap scent remains in the bowl.
Edit, this is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/Corelle-Livingware-Cereal-Winter-18-Ounce/dp/B0000CFTDC/
Anyone ever used Blue Nile Fragrance oil? I came across it someone a while back and put it on an Amazon wishlist and totally forgot about it, just curious if anyone's familiar with it?
I use small glass bottles with a pump sprayer like these. They aren't as pretty as the big aftershave bottles, but I find these a lot more practical and less wasteful. 5-6 sprays into your cupped hand is all you need. Makes it a lot easier to always dispense the same amount of aftershave.
I've got one if these in-mug infusers and it seems to work really well. You'd then just get the hot water from the hot water dispenser, warm it up in the microwave, or get a small variable temperature electric tea kettle for your desk. I'd go for the latter, probably, as different teas brew best at different temperatures
I don't know if you've heard about the three wolf shirt:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002HJ377A/
But if it came as a shower curtain...and I had a shower that needed a curtain...I'd probably get it.
Found a place on ebay that sells Victorinox Swiss Army Knives with factory scales in custom colors. Got an Explorer Plus in Hunter Green. Could not be more pleased with it.
Also, for those of you that are trying to lose weight for the new year, buy a Veggetti IMMEDIATELY! This is the best $15 investment you can make in trying to cut carbs out of the diet, as it actually turns zucchini into delicious veggie pasta.
(A Ninja blender was also well worth the investment for me, but not all of you are living off of protein shakes at the moment, so it might be overkill.)
I'm currently reading Junkyard Planet which is pretty interesting to me, since I have worked in steelyards and scrapyards on a couple different occasions in my life.
I just finished up Magicians of the Gods which I found very interesting since I am a Physical Geography major, and took a few geoarchaeology courses in my undergrad degree.
Well, if you have that many in your regular rotation... (or have a need to have them all on display ;-) They do have a straight variant that would allow for some rather dense clustering of razors
Though if aiming to accommodate that many razors, I'd myself end up building some form of custom cabinet (the large multi-paneled sales cabinets with clips for tobacco pipes come to mind: https://www.google.fi/url?sa=i&source=imgres&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjhtqTm8MbJAhWFc3IKHfTrBvUQjRwICTAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.faderstobac.com%2Fpipes.php&psig=AFQjCNH4VOno7KoiVjLkG9o1pzcI2eGHLA&ust=144947916320...)
Have you guys looked into those twist-up deodorant containers? Like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Deodorant-Twist-up-Empty-Containers-Natural/dp/B00BR15NVC/
Michelle from MW uses something similar to those for her shave sticks and it seems like a nice way to get the puck-on-face experience without messy hands. I know of a few guys on other forums who mash their soaps into those sticks for ease of use.
I have this HAZARD 4 Reveille kit. I don't travel a ton, so I haven't really put it through the paces, but it seems well made. It doesn't have a huge capacity, but enough space for everything I need. I would recommend it.
Yeah it's on the window sill there so really caught the light showing the grain. It took a good few months for the kent brush to stop shredding and it's not a reflection of your work anyway. I kinda wish I asked you to make me one from the start... it's so much softer, denser and has more backbone.
On a sidenote, do you think this will do to put the knots into the metal handles?
Just an FYI, but you don't need all that shit in your URLs.
For Amazon links you just need this:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B010TZ77JC
Just strip out all the search term and description garbage, leaving only the amazon.com, "dp" and product identifier.
Your second link is actually broken, it takes people to an error page because generally Google search result links don't stick around long. It is better to click-through to your destination page and get a clean URL to share.
DMT also makes a true lapping plate--the Dia-Flat Plate, but at $190, it's probably way overkill. I think the standard DMT plates are flat enough (and probably a lot flatter than the Naniwa and Norton lapping stones).
I had my eye on that Weekender as well. I ended up with this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002GHYDQM. I had a citizen that had the same style..simple with all the hours on the face. The citizen had a bit smaller face (37mm) but I liked it. http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-BM8180-03E-Eco-Drive-Stainless-Canvas/dp/B000EQS1JW
Edit: The citizen had a canvas with leather backing band that was really comfortable. It stunk all the time. I had to clean it every other day. I wear a watch all day long and most times I am outside sweating a little.
It is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Safety-Razor-Travel-Scissors-Case/dp/B00IBY9P12
The case is made from leather textured rubber (like tire rubber) so it is easy to wash out from time to time if you need to.
I use them for alot of soaps that hap no tub. Bit bigger than Dapper Dragon and even St. James containers, but a little smaller than the normal PET form B&M or MLS. Fits my 28mm brushes pretty well. They also make a 2 cup size that is a bit wider, but was two big for my liking.
Nice! These guys were listed in the related products and they look great too. 4" diameter and 6oz. capacity, so should be plenty for a typical 4-5oz. puck.
Edit - Nevermind, reviews say the lids don't stay on LOL
Le Creuset is so expensive though, basically have to inherit it or get lucky and find it for cheap at garage/estate sales. I have bought a few pieces of Tramontina which is Chinese-made from Amazon, much cheaper and have really enjoyed it. I have had this Dutch Oven for nearly a year now and cook so many things in it, basically never use my slowcooker anymore because I like being able to brown meats/saute veggies first, add ingredients, then cook stuff in a quarter of the time.
I've never smelled these but their JetSeal109 is the fucking tits, and their other stuff gets really good reviews.
Other than that, Yankee Candle Co, car air fresheners have a decent amount variety.
Amazon has very competitive prices for the SOC. I've ordered from vintagescent before and shipping and processing was pretty slow. Took 12 days between ordering and getting the shipment notification and then another 7 days for shipping.
If you are near a store that sells cosmetics, you could look for a Kabuki brush. They are usually only $5 or 6 and LA Shaving soap sells this type of brush as their "vegan synthetic shaving brush." I have one and it works well even if the handle is kinda small. You can find these at drug stores, Walmart, almost anywhere.
Else, you could create a makeshift brush using a wash cloth. Just grab it from the center with your thumb and fore-finger and then twist it up from the center. The edges of the wash cloth will make up the "bristles."
I just picked up my first slant, a 39c a few days ago. I've had three shaves with it now, two with the included merkur blade, and one with a lab blue, and next up I'm gonna toss in a feather which is what I typically shave with.
So far, the shaves have been among the best I've ever had. I really chase the BBS shave. I always have. I typically go WTG, XTG, then ATG, then a final clean up pass. With my new 39c, I start WTG, then XTG, and then a clean up pass.
So basically the slant seems to get me that BBS shave a lot more efficiently with fewer passes, which means less chance for irritation.
I picked it up on Amazon. That seemed to be the best price that I was able to find. http://www.amazon.com/Merkur-Razor-Merkur-Safety-Razor-Chrome/dp/B002CLH5MG
I'm reading As a Man Thinketh. link
It's only like 40 pages.
Destruction for science!
It seems that DeFitch has removed the razor from Amazon--obviously a good thing for such an overwhelmingly defective product.
i am reading this mainly to see the different in perspectives from a female prison vs. a male prison
I changed out some ingredients for ease of buying from how I originally learned it. Amazon has you covered for the rest. Anything else is readily available at most grocery stores and keeps forever. I've had the same tamarind in my fridge for probably 2 years as this is the only thing I cook that calls for it.
I use exfoliating gloves twice a week during my shower. I occasionally catch crap from it from /u/dialtone321
I have this one. It works great. Wouldn't use as an everyday brush cause it can cramp the hand being so small. But itworks up a decent lather. It is supper soft but pretty dense so it holds onto the lather pretty well.
http://www.amazon.com/Kent-VSB2-Black-Large-Shaving/dp/B005U22TMU
^^ i had a couple of those, they worked great for my blk12 and chubby 3.
http://www.shaveplace.com/brush-and-razor-stands-and-holders.asp
^^ looks like any of those in extra large would be good, too.
Thanks for the recommendation. I have this scale, which I've been pretty happy with. The one you linked is more accurate, but the one I have is good for +-0.1g, so hopefully that should be good enough for my purposes.
The idea is to let the soap dry between uses. If it stays wet it gets used up faster and stays slimy and nasty in the process. I use a wire soap basket in the shower and dish with a similar rack on the countertop.
Mine didn't come in a box unfortunately. I was gifted this useless piece of crap...
Only thing I found it useful for was storing alum. Put everything away but the bowl. When they put that away they consolidated. Definitely preventable, just something I never thought about preventing.
That's a pretty sweet Bialetti. I didn't know such a device existed.
I have the classic 6-cup version and also the 2-cup Mukka Express.
Honestly, I'm gun shy though.
The frothing contraption on the Mukka clogged, and was launched off vertically, with about 6 ounces of super-heated coffee.
If you've never cleaned coffee off your ceiling, you just don't know the joys of Bialetti ownership.
I installed something similar and it works great. The one I got is plumbed into the hot water as well. But that's only useful if you clear the cold water from the line first.
If I had to do again, I'd do a cold-water-only model like the one you posted or one that uses an electric heater.
Pilot Metropolitan. Inexpensive. Very nice. I bought one and like it. Added the CON-50. At this time I don't think I'll need any other ones. But maybe some more ink. I have Noodlers black, but would like a blue to go with it.
I've been using a Lord L6 with Astra blades for the past 3 years (tried Merkur and Feather but they felt the same and cost more). I've been using Gillette shave cream from a can and ending up with red bumps. Hairs end up slightly ingrown with a bit of a white-cap that I can just flick open with a nail.
Is this a problem with the blades I've been using? Or will a brush and cream combo really help a lot.
I bought one of these, and with some hot water and that thing I have never had to use more than a touch of elbow grease to get ANYTHING off of my cast iron.
I got the Premium Silvertip in white. With the discount I figured why not. Looks like they are out of stock of the white right now though.
My goose has also surpassed my ikon slant in my rotation. The thing is just a beast. I also have a polished head, and have been very careful with it so far, as to avoid scratches. I'm going to pick up some of this, which was recommended to get any mild surface scratches out.
I did not. This was in a trade so it was just the puck in the PET container. However, with a little bit of vegetable peeler action I was able to get it into one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Kingsley-Shave-Soap-Bowl-Dark/dp/B0018OVL4G/
Probably took about 0.5oz off around the edges, and just mashed that into a bowl to use today.
Any idea how shipping is? (cost and time). I was planning to go that route after missing the group buy but now I want to wait and see. Either way, I'm extra anxious because I've been using this for a year. (and it's still shedding!)
It is important to note, however, that the S-Brushes and the Syntex brushes are two different brushes. The Syntex brushes (with white bristles, as opposed to the tan ones designed to look like boar) should be avoided.
If you like a soap with a light and mild scent I would strongly recommend Pre de Provence.
I have both PdP and the L'Occitane Cade soap and while there is nothing wrong with the Cade soap, PdP is much nicer both in lather quality and scent.
>Agua Lavanda
Did you buy from amazon? The big 'ole 25.5oz bottle of "cologne" for like $20? This one?
For whatever it's worth, this shaving bowl makes a great brush soaker if you are conserving water. It wouldn't work as an actual...you know...shaving bowl, but it's perfect for soaking a boar brush.
Sorry, you got caught in the spam filter. It doesn't like referral links for Amazon. It's possible to post those without meaning to. Look at the url and it should look like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004OJZ5CG/ If it looks like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GA7LVQ4?psc=1 then the spam filter assumes it's a referral link even if it's no.
From the "do not buy" list unfortunately: SimplyBeautiful Basic 100% Pure Badger Shaving Brush. I've had it for almost a year and it's still shedding! I'd like to get a synthetic brush that's still affordable. I haven't had time to research yet. I do hear the name Omega pop up a lot though.
Trying to get into mindfulness meditation and was recommended to check out Mindfulness in Plain English as a starting point.
Don't have any experience with the Blades Grim brush, but I do like the little jewel on the bottom.
My badger brush for the past couple months has been this. It's a great little brush, kinda heavy shedding initially, but that's tapered off lately. The black handled version is $55. Also, I've got this on my wish list. Semogue is known for their boar brushes, so I'm curious to know what their badger's are like.
/u/p-zilla's recommendation for the Frank's brush is a great idea...heard good things about that brush and the handle looks amazing.
edit: realized these are all smaller knots (22-24 mm) vs the 28mm of the Blades Grim brush. I just find it hard to believe the 28mm is only $50.
Currently I'm burning through a bar of Dr. Bronners, holding out to see if Stirling releases shampoo bars anytime soon. I use it with this, which I've found is far easier to make a lather with than the standard poofy things made of similar material.
I just bought this tooth powder to start using. It arrived yesterday and smells/tastes great (like a blend of natural mint and cinnamon). Haven't actually started using it to brush my teeth as I've got about 1/8 of a tube of toothpaste tube left, but I've heard great things. It supposedly is supposed to help with tooth and gum health.
I bought some of these 1oz glass bottles with dropper/stoppers. I keep them in a dopp bag and have never had a problem with them breaking or leaking. I use oral irrigators (made for cleaning out sockets after having wisdom teeth removed) to transfer the aftershave from the main bottle to the small ones.
