It’s a way of saying “hey I see you, nice Jeep” without seeing the owner. I leave them when I see a nice rig but the owner isn’t around when I park or when I leave. Just jeep code for spreading smiles and waving without someone to wave to. I bought these on Amazon for $10
By not driving on a dry lake bed?
The tires look like they are inflated to normal highway driving pressure when they should be under-inflated, and pushing the pedal to the floor is probably the worst way to try to get out of sand. So a blend of approrpiate technique and appropriate caution. And like u/paragonncrazy said, I also learned from experience.
Also, personally, I keep a duffel bag full of recovery straps, mats, and shackels, and an emergency shovel, plus a couple of traction mats and a mankiller jack for those TIFU/emergency situations after I have (it's a job requirement, otherwise my JK stays mostly on pavement) to go offroad in adverse conditions.
I assume the dude in the picture is trying to get a winch set up, but he has no anchor point nearby.

This has been my favorite Jeep upgrade by far. Gives the guy enough room but also keeps him way safer than any of the other tie down methods I had previously tried. He can even sit in the front seat with the doors off he loves it!

Not to plug anyones stuff but its 16 bucks goes from the back of my front seats all the way to the back. Its keeping the hair and mud contained pretty well.
If this is in your driveway and you are looking for a super easy outdoor surveillance system, I just installed the Argus 2 by Reolink, it does 1080p, full color and also night vision which sees my entire backyard, best part is the battery is powered by a solar panel attachment, I love it so far. I also have a Ring Door Bell that I use which is great for package stealers but not so much for a birds eye view of things.

I personally use a Viofo/SpyTec A119 and the people over at r/dashcam highly recommend the A119.
It's about $90 on Amazon and is by far the most bang for your buck in terms of dash cameras. It can record up to 1440p at 30fps which is great for picking up small details, it has a wide angle, and great in low light conditions.
EDIT: Fixed link to Amazon
I put these on my doors instead. It makes it alot easier when you’re trying to put the doors back on too with the rounded end.

Just had this exact thing happen to my 14’ wrangler and fixed it with this-
Nickson Industries 17149 Exhaust Split Flange https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AZWSGX6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8VJW8JH1HG8D0YB792AD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
2x of these and some nuts / bolts from Home Depot fixed it right up. Just like others have said.
Do It! But make it clearly a joke. Buy this large, inflatable duck and strap it to the top or put it in the back when your top is off!
I actually just fixed this issue on my 2010 about two weeks ago, so I'm your girl for this one! All it is is a part that was about $40 on Amazon, and it took maybe a half hour from start to finish. This is the part you need, and this is the post I found on Wrangler Forum that explains how to fix it step by step. I've only done one fill up since i fixed it, but I didn't have any overflow, whereas it used to be so bad that I couldnt ever put more than 3/4 of a tank in at a time.
Hey, crutchfield has stereos and the wiring etc. Sometimes they are as much as 30 percent higher in price, but you will narrow down your search quick. Also, I got some great LED headlights/fog/markers off Amazon. They work great and we're only 100 bucks.

Agree on the dash cam, saved my ass twice now and are relatively inexpensive insofar as Jeep mods go, I have one in every vehicle I own and will put one in every vehicle going forward. Cheap peace of mind.
I use this Garmin gps with a built in dash cam. It works great and the video quality is fantastic.

Also you should look in to replacing your hinge liners with Kentrol hinge liners (https://www.amazon.com/Kentrol-Hinge-Liners-Door-70002/dp/B076B22D5K/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=jeep+jk+hinge+liners&qid=1622171863&sr=8-4)
This will help limit the rust in the future. The reason the hinges rust a lot is because some of the metal is aluminum and some is steel on JKs. Interesting thread on the issue here:

WD-40 and open and close then as you lift.
if that doesn't work a jack with a 2x4 across the bottom but slowly and dont force it.

Sure, and thank you!
I got a bulk package of stickers off of amazon, and sorted it down to the ones I liked the most. Then picked a few I liked but not as much to use as background stickers, and sticker bombed the crap out of those two panels on either side.
Trouble is, I didn't clear-coat it, so they are starting to peel. I need to take them all off and do it again, but then run a nice thick layer of clear-coat over it. Either that or do it again with higher quality stickers, preferably vinyl.

You can use any LED fog lights made for JK or JL.
I know people say don’t buy cheap-o light but I got a $40 pair from Amazon from Xprite meant for JK and they fit perfectly fine and work perfectly fine.
Despite some of the reviews, I’ve had no issues with the seal either and I’ve done some crazy water fording too.. YMMV I suppose but if you want to fill the voids on the bumper quickly and cheaply, these worked for me!
Xprite 4' Inch 60W CREE Led Fog Lights for Jeep Wrangler
Also no computer flashing or anything required and they work just same as the halogen. They’re insanely bright too.
Only thing negative I will mention, they are starting to flicker when my auto stop start turns the Jeep on. I don’t believe that’s the LEDs fault though as my auto stop start system is acting up..... just wanted to throw that out there though.
Halos take a little bit of wiring knowledge, can you/husband splice wires?
For $250 and under you'll be looking at Amazon headlights, they're relatively hit or miss, I have a set and am at 2+ years now of them running fine. Some people have them die sooner.
Xprite I believe is the leader of cheap headlights: Xprite 7" Inch LED Halo Headlights for Jeep Wrangler JK TJ LJ 1997-2018(DOT Approved),CREE LED Chip, 80W 9600 Lumens Hi/Lo Beam with Halo Ring Angel Eyes DRL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WL8X3HQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CXv3CbP1CH4J8
Basically you'll need some dielectric grease, some scotch locks with dielectric grease already in them, a test light, lots of electrical tape, and zip ties. That and a thin t10 or t15 torx screw driver to aim the headlights afterwards.
The halo wire would get scotch locked to the running light in the fender (test light to determine the positive wire), taped up, and then the headlights themselves are plug and play. Just be sure to use the grease on the connections to prevent corrosion, and then tape it all up to keep water out.
Takes like 1-2 hours.
Also, of you live where it's snows a lot, the LEDS don't get hot enough to melt snow. So while they're 1000% brighter than stock halogen, the LEDS are useless in blizzard driving. I have halogen KC lights when it's heavy snow driving.
Good luck!
Yep that's just what the old style mirrors do. I could never get them tightened up. Take those off and get a set of the newer style ('00+ maybe?), they bolt right on: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AWHZ28/
The housing on the newer style remains stationary and the mirror adjusts inside it like mirrors on most other vehicles, which means they don't get out of adjustment easily.
It will absolutely remove the smoke smell and any other odors, for good. I have an older Volvo that had the musty old car smell despite taking really good care of it, I washed the carpets, changed the cabin air filter and ran my ozone generator for 45min and could not believe how effective it was. It’s the best the car has smelled since it was new. This video gives a good rundown of what they are and how to use them, and this is the one I got if you’re interested in getting one.
the cheapest options will be the crossbars/roof racks that attach to the rain gutter on the roof above the doors. The EAG cargo basket is a popular choice. 4-door owners can buy the 2-door version and still have the ability to remove the freedom panels. You can also easily fit 2 normal sized kayaks

The best bet for a cheap place to stay is an Airbnb. Check out the surrounding areas.

Honestly, I suck at this and it still looks good IMHO. For $34 I used a little over one of four cans and that’s cause I messed up and had to peel off and reapply a couple times. Easily a one can job, but I plan to do my rims next so I bought four cans. It’s my first time using plasti-dip, but it’s so cool, just peel off and try again if you mess up. If you hate it, just peel off and go back to the silver. It’s literally idiot and mistake proof. All I can say is you can CLEARLY tell the spots I did right and the spots I rushed. Go slow and layer thin coats and keep the spray 12” away it will look smooth as satin… get rushed and too close with the spray and it ripples… BUT… since the rest of the interior is a mix of smooth and bumpy… I think it matches either way 🤷🏻♂️

These have good reviews and if you didn’t want them to stick out much they also have a +12mm offset with 5.5 inch backspace. Comes with 4 but you can buy the 5th separately. Black or bronze is the 2 colors. I think white Jeep’s with bronze wheels look really clean together but black is also cool.
Also I used this on my wheels. It’s a ceramic coating that holds up against high heat. Makes it a lot easier to clean the wheels from brake dust build up and other mud and muck. Very easy to apply just follow the instructions. I say get the tires mounted and balanced them coat them. Lasts about 2 years or even more if you take care of the coating.
I use one of these. Works really well. I just keep it in the glove box for easy access to pull the top of of the channels above the door.

I have a similar but cheaper Amazon product under my driver's seat. I had originally ordered the 10 inch version, but it wouldn't fit, so I returned it for the 8. It's fine - adds some low range so the factory system doesn't sound so tinny. But you definitely won't be booming with this setup.
I bought essentially the same thing from Amazon. They're all around $10-15. I have a 2010 as well without Bluetooth. I feel that the overall quality and EQ for music is enhanced running my phone through this little guy. Much better than any AUX cable and even the cd player in my opinion.

To make things easier, get a Harken Hoister for your hardtop if you have a garage. I got one for my wife's 2 door JK and it makes the transition easy. Hardtop in the winter and softtop in the summer. In the summer, the hardtop is hoisted to the ceiling.
Here is a link to the hoister on Amazon. Easy install and makes getting the hardtop on/off a 1 person operation.
It's damned near impossible to find a cheap hardtop mounting system, and 400 bucks is on the cheapest end. Not sure if they're still around, but there used to be a front gutter-rear strap system (maybe by Surco? Don't remember the brand) that the full kit with crossbars was around 350. Still not super cheap, but it didn't need vehicle alterations to install. It didn't include any type of rack.
Most of that stuff is stupidly overpriced for what is essentially cheap, clunky junk.
[edit] Looks like there is a Surco J600 with front and rear mounts on Amazon for 180. You'll need crossbars of some sort, additionally. https://www.amazon.com/Surco-J600-Roof-Rack-Adapter/dp/B00C5T2BPG
I got them on amazon. I rolled the dice on them because they were cheap, but they turned out to be really good quality.

I used to ride soft top / windows out, but the rear corners kept pulling off and flying around on the interstate. Last spring I got the Bestop 52530-37 Strapless Safari top (uses windshield channel 51210-01). I chose it because it would provide a little better protection to me from the sun than the bikini top. It is a bit of a pain in the ass to install and remove, but it does fit into my door surrounds (like the full soft top) which I think is a plus. I made a point to really cinch down the back so it would flap as little as possible - and it held up through last Fall just fine (when I went back to the full soft top). I'll be putting it back on in a month or so once the pollen dies down. I think they make the same safari top except with the regular soft-top bar/latch mount (instead of the drill/screw channel) - if I could go back I'd get that one instead even if it cost extra. Would be a lot simpler to install/remove.
I have no idea about the Amazon reviews of it not fitting - maybe they're trying to fit it on the wrong year model?
I have been meaning to get the wingnut version because getting the torx tool for the factory bolts every time is a pain. These are all over amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K4GP9XW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Sa9XCb731J9BR

One of the first things I upgraded. Got these babies on Amazon, work fantastic. So bright, you'll need to adjust them after a few folks flash you. No need to spend hundreds on new housings and assemblies. These bulbs are awesome. I mean, if you want halos, go for it. Not my thing. These are direct fit, plug n play. Need to pop grille off and remove headlight assembly, but it's super easy. Don't be scared, pull that grill hard. Pops right out ;)

They do whistle at ~63MPH+, but it's not bad and you can put stickers over the openings on the underside of the bars to eliminate it easily. They attach simply and I can install/remove them within about 10 minutes alone.
The only caveat I'll give is that the locks are useless - more for show. If you're parking in areas where your stuff is likely to be stolen, these would be pretty easy for an intrepid thief to get. Apparently you can swap out the Yule locks for more security, but I didn't care to bother.
You may want to consider LED replacements, which are in the same price area. I did this for a 2006 TJ back in Aug and the difference was 'night and day'. (the pair I bought are no longer available, but make sure you get 'DOT Approved' lights) ... Here's a link to a pair that has almost 400 reviews that are highly rated and cost $100.
THIS is the dash cam I use on my Wrangler. It works great. There's a good hardwire kit for it as well. Front, interior and rear cameras although you don't really need the rear cam if you think the interior camera is good enough to cover everything.
You won't regret the light bar. Mount it as low as possible and it will also help create shadows on trail that would otherwise be washed out by a high up mount -- like above the windshield.
You also don't have to spend a lot of money. This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073S4V738/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
While the quality isn't great, it has been on my jeep for 3 year and is still going strong.
That 12L is for a complete system all-in. You're still going to have a decent amount of residual coolant left even if you think you've drained it. I did my 2012's oil cooler and water pump, and I think I drained it, then connected some garden hoses to the heater core hose and pipe. Flushed with low pressure water, used some very low pressure air to try to move a little more coolant out, and probably put a bit more than 2 of the 3.8L jugs in afterwards.
I did the rad a couple years back, it was a royal pain. I used a quarter-inch mini-ratchet with low profile 1/4 sockets, like this one: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B003TSMQWU , it worked but but it was still a pain to access the bolts. I've seen a video on youtube where one of those gear wrench ratcheting stubby wrenches was used, seemed to go OK, and if I had to do it over I'd probably try that first, I just didn't have any at the time.
Trying to contain the draining coolant was a shitshow for me. Got it everywhere when pulling the rad hoses, I'm not really sure what the best way to do it is. If your rad petcock will drain out the bottom nipple, you can try putting some clear plastic tubing to direct the flow to a bucket, but mine seemed to be blocked and only sprayed sideways out the petcock hole itself. Taking out the lower hose seems to splash coolant all over one of the cross members which made it impossible to place a bucket or tray in the right spot, so again, a mess. Maybe put a tarp and some towels down around your drain buckets, or maybe you can rig up something smarter with funnels.
I don't have a JL but a JK and a WK. I bought THIS for my WK and I really like it. It's an Android OS head unit which opens up a world of options for me. I can install any Android app on it. It has its own memory but also an expansion slot for a MicroSD card. I have thousands of MP3's on there that play through the head unit using an app called PowerAmp. I have Google Maps, OsmAnd+, Gaia, OnXOffroad and several other diagnostic apps installed including JScan. I don't need Apple Car play but could install it if necessary.
The only thing I wish I had done was go a step up because for $100 more I could have had a more powerful CPU, a little more RAM and a built in SIM card slot so I could just have a constant connection to it instead of using WiFi or my phones BlueTooth for updates and downloads. I plan to make this correction with my JK but will likely just get the 7" unit thats flush with the trim instead of the 10" one that sticks out.
Anyway...the point is, why limit yourself?
I have this one. I got it because I am in a very dusty environment and the inside of my jeep gets covered with dust. So cleaning the screen without a protector on it would leave those tiny scratches all over it.
Then get a hitch mount cargo basket
MeeFar Folding Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier 60" X 20" X 6'' + Waterproof Cargo Bag 20 Cubic Feet (59" 24" 24"), Hauling Weight Capacity of 500 Lbs and A https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09G6L487Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_o53mIhOtd8tqn
Here is the cheap folding one that I have
You could also go all fancy-like, if you get a a new switch: https://www.amazon.ca/Rugged-Ridge-17235-86-Pillar-Switch/dp/B004P3RKJC (assuming a JK)
I have no freaking clue what you're asking.

Cheap but they work. They do require a little bit of drilling but it's not bad. Probably can avoid that with a bolt on light bar support or something.
It was a joke. Do not JB weld it to your roof it will be on there permanently. Those boxes are specifically designed to be mounted to a roof rack.
You could put 2 pool noodles on your roof and use some cam buckle straps ( do not use ratchet straps they will crack your top. ) It will get you by but is not ideal.
Most Jeep owners utilize a hitch mount cargo box like this:

Swiftpart is the seller of these, they have two listed. Could be worth a try.
Something like this style (for my JK on 37's) - my wife is 5'3 and they work great for her, I use them myself often too (6'1).
I made a pair of grab handles and based them off these,
https://www.amazon.com/Hooke-Road-1997-2006-Wrangler-Unlimited/dp/B01MY9IGC9
Only made my own instead of buying these because I can, I’m a welder by trade. They’ve been great so far and my wife (5’7”) loves them. They’re not in the line of sight at all.
Same issue on my black 2005 LJ. I think I'm going to hit it with some VHT SP229 Rust Convertor that I have already and see what that does.
Oops, yeah, the crossbar on the 2dr would be too far back to get any useful images. Bumper is a good idea. Could even get something like https://smile.amazon.com/iJDMTOY-Relocator-Compatible-Wrangler-Gladiator/dp/B07XB39CV6/ref=sr_1_5?crid=13FM8K1650IDY&keywords=wrangler+license+plate+bracket+spare+tire&qid=1662657419&sprefix=wrangler+license+plate+bracket+spare+tire%2C... if you want to mount it higher
It’s a Kuat transfer v2 2 bike rack
Kuat Transfer v2 2 bike hitch rack
I really like the rack and it’s very sturdy. I bought mine already put together but it doesn’t seem difficult to assemble. I did need a hitch extender with a drop to clear my 35s. I bought that from harbor freight for about $30 along with 2 bolt hitch lock that key your ignition key. Also a anti rattle hitch stabilizer for the extender.
MCE fenders or KBD body kit JK fenders. I’m running the MCE fenders narrow width. If you look in my profile you’ll see them. I don’t think the MCE fenders can’t be painted but I think the KBD body kit ones can be.
KBD body kits (front + rear fender flares)
MCE Fenders Front and Rear Fender Flares for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
The KBD come only as narrow width but they are paintable if you wish to have them painted to match your jeep. The MCE come in both stock width and narrow. The MCE didn’t take long for me to install. The front was the longest since they had more to remove and wiring in the marker light. The rear I just lined up and drilled in the self tappers. Took about 1.5-2 hours total for removal and install of all 4.
every spring and again in the fall.... doesnt really need it twice a year but would rather be ahead of the game then trying to play catch up
Got these for my son's TJ, after they were recommended by a friend. They are DOT 7 approved (for the U.S.) and have made a huge difference at night. It took about 15 minutes or so to do the install.
