Have you and /u/Jkjklkl seen Oolite? Might be up your alley. It's been in active development for some 15 years, so while it shows it's age, it's not abandoned either.
Oh yea, and "there are over five hundred expansion packs released for Oolite."
yeah i looked in the forum of that webpage http://www.thexuniverse.com/threads/20138-MOD-Ship-Rebalace-Mod-Continued and its seem like the forum is dead
>Looks like the X Universe havent renewed their hosting. I will sort out a new home for the xrm files tomorrow.

you need to install 3 : ADS - Joubarbian Edition for carriers management. The Joubarbian Toolkit for various quality of life stuff. MLCC TM Compatibility is compatible
mk3 and satellite already integrated.
You can open a python console by pressing NVDA+control+z. https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/developerGuide.html#PythonConsole
I feel like it shouldn't be too hard to tell it to read a file. The developer documentation is pretty long though and I don't immediately see how. https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/developerGuide.html
I'm acquainted with Python, which is what the NVDA Screen Reader is written in. They use the built-in Windows 10 OCR support, which is documented here, among other places. I've never tried hacking on nVDA myself, as I never really saw much need to, and it's a somewhat intimidating codebase.
Certain DX games do this.

Use the files here (http://www.codeproject.com/KB/threads/pausep.aspx) to pause the process and then resume when you have repositioned it. I was having this same error last night.
Update here:
I converted the Ocelot (Split TP+) and uploaded it temporarily.
Link can be found here The ship is called Natter, because that's the German name for it. (Ozelot swapped the place with Natter in the German version. English translated name would be Serpent, I think).
As a Note: I'm not sure how Egosoft will react to this, so I uploaded the file on a hoster that deletes it after 2 days. Smoothing wasn't applied, just a pure conversion. It's 3 MB big and contains pure text.
I don't have a joystick to test atm, I see the default Control Settings has Target Next/ Target Previous bind to Joystik #3 and #4. The Exit Menu bottom is bound to ESC.
We can add multiple keys to one Action, but not multiple action to one key, there does seem to be separate set of In- Station hotkey and In-flight hotkey that may repeat.
I used AutoHotKey to bind some functions that require a long string of key-input. e.g. opening X-Mission-Reloaded Mod's Personal Mission Assistant inside a station. It also has functions to bind joystick keys, https://autohotkey.com/docs/KeyList.htm#Joystick so one way to do it is bind another un-used keyboard key to exit menu, maybe ` or \, then in AHK use that same key to send an input to the Joystick button you want to use for both action.
I probably could have used 3dsmax via work, but that limited what, and when I could do things...
I've seen texture data in the .bod file, so I'm pretty certain that I could pull out textured models if I needed them... I just haven't needed them for 3D printing. Pretty sure I've also established UV data in the files, so it should be pretty trivial...
I've got a spreadsheet knocking around that I uploaded to [https://ethercalc.net/riiaqwcjz8](ethercalc) which has the ships I could find in the data. The spreadsheet has no write protection, so if someone's deleted data, tough, I guess. If you're interested, send me a ping, and I'll send over a .csv with the data (keeping formats easy, so I can easily write scripts to manipulate them). I have also got the inverse list (in game ship names mapping to data filenames) somewhere, which is what I used for my batch conversion, but I don't have a link right now.
Oh, and I also noted the lack of Kha'ak ships... and a few ships, like flying saucers, I don't think are in the game...?
When you launch the game this pops up: https://pcgamingwiki.com/images/5/5c/X3_Terran_Conflict_Launcher_General.png

You should see the X52 under joystick settings and to the right there you see "use throttle".
I hope this helps any bit, however my knowledge of Linux systems is next to nothing.
>I've been looking for awhile for something similar and would be most interested in a 2D X3 style game
I missed this part, I wasn't thinking 2D.
Take a look at the Escape Velocity series, most specifically EV Nova. It's a 2D space RPG, and the main storylines you can take (there are many) are all really really great. Some of them are quite tricky to get into, others you will find yourself getting wrapped up in completely unintentionally. Lots of ships to fly, lots of star systems to explore. Trading is quite viable, although it doesn't have a proper dynamic market so its a bit bland. Empire building is definitely possible, not just through the plots but also individually if you so choose. It's not the primary focus of the game, but you can conquer planets and stations and they will pay tax to you. That's about as far as it goes though.
It's an old game, but it still looks alright. I'd really love to see another entry in the series someday.
I was stumped on that at first, too. I had to download Apache Ant and set it up according to their instructions. Try searching for "ant xml" on google and you might find yourself down the same rabbit hole I found myself at last night. Essentially though, you download it, extract it, set up some stuff in your windows variables, then run it through the commandline with the command: ant -buildfile "c:\directory\build.xml" Although, I believe they said they used Maven and NSIS, so maybe better luck would be had with those? Here's the page where they posted how to compile Xadrian, which mentions those two programs. I think Maven may possibly contain ant, I have no idea. Their instructions on how to mod Xadrian are very vague. They're literally "here's some files, I'm not gonna tell you what to do with them. Good luck." lol
