I don't wanna be that guy, but, really, it takes maybe 5 seconds to search the market no matter what device you're on.
If it were me, I would download a bunch of TV shows or movies that I haven't watched yet or want to watch.
I would also load up on games. If you haven't checked it out, I would suggest these games from the Humble Indie Bundle.
Also download a bunch of emulated games. You can get just about everything from nes, snes, n64, mame if you look hard enough. Bring a PS3 and a usb to mini adapter cable so you don't have to rely on touch screen controls.
And lastly, if you're a fan of adventure games, check out Scummvm. It plays lucasarts adventure games like Monkey Island 1-3, Loom, The Dig, Full Throttle, etc. It's a great way to kill time and reliving the glory days of adventure gaming. Bring a USB mouse if you have the dock.
The infinity uses the same dock as the prime I thought?
I got that impression from Engadget's review.
>As we hinted at earlier, the best thing about the TF700's keyboard dock is that, well... you don't necessarily need it. Back when we reviewed the mid-range Transformer Pad TF300, many readers were upset to learn that they couldn't re-use their OG Transformer dock, meaning if they wanted to upgrade they'd have to buy a new tablet and a new keyboard, to boot. Here, there are no such compatibility issues: the TF700 will work with the dock belonging to the original Prime. That's good news for fed-up Prime owners who've had enough of the GPS issues but don't have a reason to trade in the dock, per se.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/25/asus-transformer-pad-infinity-tf700-review/
If an english blog has not heard of it yet...I am going to guess no.
Hope it does, though. I am looking for a tablet, and the Prime just seems to have too many problems for its price. If they just had a refresh at the same price without the wifi-gps issues people are reporting, I would pick one up tomorrow.
Edit: Just showed up on Engadget, I guess it is a real rumor now.
Still, to come soon? Please.
I've had my T Pro 3 for a couple of weeks now and could not be more pleased. I got it from CostCo.
This is actually my fourth Windows ASUS Transformer. Previously, I have had T200TA, T300Chi, and T102HA. All of them have worked reasonably well. The only issues I've had are with the T300Chi. I found the Chi keyboard to be somewhat frustrating as it goes to sleep too soon, and takes too long to re-connect afterwards. I think a bluetooth keyboard looked good on paper, but was not so great in practice. I was never able to get the USB working at 3.0 levels. It does fine with 2.0 USB devices. I did manage to crack the screen once (not sure how) and ASUS repaired it free as part of their ADP (Accidental Damage Protection).
All four still perform well.
I also have a TF101 (the original Andriod Transformer). It, too, is still working fine
I don't know what happened to /u/John_Barlycorn. Perhaps he got a lemon.
Well, they're not exactly must-do's, but I consider these two must-play games, to really show what a tablet interface can add to gaming.
"In literal terms, bootloader is code that is executed before any Operating System starts to run. The concept of bootloaders is universal to virtually all Operating systems that inculcates operating systems on your PC, laptop, smartphones, and other such devices. Bootloaders basically package the instructions to boot operating system kernel and most of them also have their own debugging or modification environment. As the bootloader kicks off before any piece of software on your device, it makes it extremely processor specific and every motherboard has it’s own bootloader. This is one reason that all Android phones have different Custom ROMS developed due to high variance of processing hardware present on the device. The iDevices running iOS somewhat share the same hardware specs and hence you don’t see much variance in their bootloaders."
Good news everyone! Here is a link if you can't get it for some reason. Fresh from my Evo, worked for my TF. You have to go to settings and enable it, so don't forget to do that.
The dock is great, I highly recommend it in any event. I have a prime, but right now, the TF300 looks like it would have suited me fine as well. If Engadget's to be believed at least, the principle difference is the loss of the "super-ips" (super bright) screen. Which I can't say I've ever really used. I don't know what the infinity will be like so I am not commenting on that one.
MAybe this
But havent seen on the thread of the dock works

someone did ask, just no response yet...
VerbTex is BAD!! If you have rooted try Ubuntu Installer (it runs as an app, rather than natively so you dont need to unlock your bootloader). You can use TexMaker in Ubuntu, it can be a bit laggy but I've found it to be a better solution. Android desperately needs a decent Tex distribution though.
I'd like to see more apps like AIDE, which is in a similar vein to your Cloud9 comment. AIDE is a great end-to-end solution for developing Android apps on Android devices, and it makes it possible for me to actually be productive on long subway/train rides. A similar app for end-to-end C++ development, for example, would be wonderful.
More importantly, though, I'd use an app that allows you to download and read documentation offline, particularly Javadocs-style documentation. Some apps exist already, but they primarily download predefined documentation, precluding documentation for specific libraries. When working on the subway I often find myself needing to look up something in the libGDX documentation, which stalls my work until I've left the tunnels.
Not a fix, but a work-around (from XDA):
I installed WakeLock a few weeks ago and set it to "Partial_Wake_Lock." I have not experienced the bootloop/random restart once since then. I also haven't noticed any additional battery drain. Pretty pleased with this... I was getting really frustrated when I'd pick up my Transformer and see it stuck on that damn boot screen.
Are we talking about the same thing?
Digital Clock Widget from 'Maize'. It was clean and neat-looking but it had to go :(
i've used this for the last 5 or 6 ota's. it's never failed me. i've never unrooted prior to updating either.
do you linux?
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/top-10-reasons-to-root-your-android-phone-2/
Basically gives you system access. You have the ability to write to system folders as well. Some programs need special privileged to let them do certain things. For instance, Titanium backup needs root so it can access the data folder? I think. And Mount manager needs it to mount windows CIFS/Samba and read AND write abilities! You can mount folder shares. There is more, you can google "benefits of android root"
I can't speak to the T102HA, but I have had a T100HA (last year's model) for about a year, and it performs quite well. I see that Amazon has refurbished ones for $225.
I FOUND IT! Apparently i've been searching for the wrong terms. I searched ebay for "TF101 USB KIT" which came up with 4 results. One seller in the US ($28.99) and 3 from Taiwan.
Acer Iconia wasn't bad, was a tad heavy though. The Thrive is nice because the battery is replaceable. The Samsung 10.1 is nice, but plain, doesnt have many slots for addons, might as well pay a little more and get a prime. The Thinkpad tablet is real nice for drawings, the digitizer pen works extremely well.
I made this spreadsheet for tablets, little outdated, but should have most of them

Anand Tech and CNet where both reporting issues. To answer another question, Asus sent both those reviewers new tabs that seemed to work alright; maybe hinting at the fact it is not their entire stock.
AnandTech review.
*The trend you've discovered is a real one, but it is regarding VSync and resolutions. *
>Firstly, the A5 shows incredibly sharp drops once the rendering is brought on screen
*That is because VSync locks the max frame rate at 60 FPS. Some frames drop below 60 which is why you get about 59.5 for frame limited on screen tests. Rendering off screen bypasses VSync and thus is not frame limited. *
> The numbers actually improve as the rendering is brought on screen.
That is because the on screen resolution is lower than 720p and being frame limited was not an issue. The Galaxy Nexus is already 720p, but some times when rendering you'll get an easy couple frames that will exceed the 60fps cap, which is why the on screen version was lower than the off screen (again VSync).
Conclusion:
Off screen tests are just designed to test the limits of the hardware.
Other Reading:
The clock speed is correct (based on this post from Engadget when the TF700 was announced).
I see what you mean about the height, though; that's a bit bizarre.
They all have Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 2 uses a different connector (the same one as the Mini DisplayPort).
There is an issue with ASUS's marketing literature.
That said, I got mine from CostCo, and it is the XH74T.
If you are still interested, CostCo now has the Transformer 3 pro. Here is a link.
I'm selling one right now with some great accessories. I already posted it on this sub, but here is the link to ebay again
Shitty Chinese stuff, but I bet it still works.
He says there is a lack of chargers but I see plenty.
I've only written a short story on it (in the train on my lap) but the way you just pull it out and start writing is very liberating.
I've used TextWarrior (free) which does just plain text, but I think its better to do the formatting at the end on a decent screen/pc so it doesn't distract you.
Also TextWarrior doesn't need any internet connection so you can use it anywhere... just remember to make good backups on another device.
We do have word now (sort of). Try CloudOn, its pretty damn good. You need to be online but its full Microsoft Office and links to DropBox, Box and Google drive.
Well, there's this, but my personal experience with it hasn't been great. It does the job, but it requires an Internet connection to convert to PDF, which can be a pain while out and about. It's not optimised for the newer versions of Android, either.
Yes there is!
It's not the best, but it works. I don't know that you'd want to write doctoral theses with it, but you can edit assignments that are uploaded to verbosus.com.
You might want to install Wake Lock until ASUS fixes this issue. Turn on partial wake lock, and make sure to activate it.
My transformer was having the same issue, and then one day wouldn't boot back up at all. Ended up having to send it in ASUS, and while they got it back on, it's still have the booting problems. Installed wake lock, and it hasn't happened since.
As a one way transfer (Tablet to phone for example) datasync seems to work pretty good. If not perfect but it easier then a computer or switching SD cards.
EDIT: You do have to be rooted though, so that might not work for you if not rooted. Though i think the root is for app data not user files. So you might not need root to just move the files. Not sure.
If you're writing Android apps, AIDE is actually very usable, though it lacks debugging and has a few annoyances here and there. (And they should say this by default when a keyboard is connected, but Ctrl+1-4 toggle your most important stuff.) For more advanced stuff, try Terminal IDE.
TouchScreenTune - Allows you to set the sensitivity of the touchscreen. Great for using a stylus.
ASUS themselves have said they would be making the dock compatible with future devices
> 11.6" screen with a massive 2560 by 1600 resolution...
WHAT. WHAT. WWWWWHHHHHHAAAAATTTTTTTT?????!!!!
Interestingly enough, its only a pixel density of ~260ppi, which doesn't beat the iPhone 4's 320. But it doesn't have to, since its a tablet and all.
And, of course, the flip side of the story is that it was originally reported by BGR. And they're the biggest lying sacks of scum this side of Fox. Although the date does line up with their expected release of the Exynos 5250, which would be required to power the huge display.
I think it's really in your best interest to wait for the Transformer Prime (official name of the Transformer 2). It's going to have the quad core kal-el (tegra 3) processor which should be about 5 times faster than the current standard dual core tegra 2 processor. It's also going to have better battery life, be thinner and it'll be sexier. Official reveal date where they'll reveal all the specs is Nov. 9 and release should be relatively soon after.
There are some 7 inch honeycomb tablets coming out now - I'd recommend checking out the samsung galaxy tab 7.7 when it becomes available.
Best Buy has had them in-stock off and on for the past week or so. I ordered mine on Tuesday, it's coming today. Search for TF201.
EDIT: I see they're backordered now, but you can still check that page now and again. Maybe I just got lucky?
I have TF101, have been having the rebooting/powering off issue for a while. I rooted, installed a different ICS based ROM, it happened less, but did not permanently fix the issues. Recently, a friend told me about a possible work-around for the issue, where you install an app that will keep the CPU from going to sleep, as the root cause seems to be bringing the tablet out of its sleep mode. I am still testing this solution.
If this doesnt fix it for me I might just go back to the HC based Prime ROM and life will go on. ugh.
Same here. You should probably pre-order it from now while they're still taking preorders, even though the extra 33 bucks really sucks.
I've been on the hunt for a good ereader lately and have tried the most common ones but settled on Mantano. By far the best IMO.
I've used a bluetooth mouse on mine no problem. I've tethered it to my phone using this app.
Are you looking to only get root on your current ROM or actually the whole dead (New recovery, ROM with SuperSU etc). I don't think there are any extra steps to do with the TF101, you can fastboot https://twrp.me/devices/asustransformerTF101.html TWRP onto it and flash root/other roms onto it from there on.
Also do you have an SBK1 or SBK2 ? You can figure this out from your serial number, there's a part with B and two numbers (B50, B60 or so), IIRC B60 and lower are quaranteed SBK1, B80 and higher is quaranteed SBK2 and B70 can be either.
There's not much difference, except SBK1 is pretty much 100% unbrickable since you can always get it to APX-mode and push stuff
I don't know audio codecs as intimately as I'd like, but AAC or Ogg is probably your best bet. These both get better sound quality and compression than MP3, and both have multichannel support past stereo. This chart may assist you in picking the audio codec which is suitable to your needs. Virtualdub is a good, free tool for performing this operation.
When you process your video, be sure to set the video for "Direct stream copy" while audio should be set to "Full processing mode". This should make it so that it doesn't attempt to recompress your video during the operation.
this got me started. i am a linux guy and this was extremely easy. they have also ported it to windows but it take a little more work.
good luck
Check out Cerberus. It's $4 for a lifetime of security for up to 5 devices.
It's as easy to use as installing an app, and making an account. When you can't find your tablet, you log into the cerberus page, and you can do quite a bit there, including turning on GPS tracking of your tablet (even if the GPS is turned off in settings, it'll turn that back on,) locking your device remotely, having your device display a full screen message, wiping your device remotely, putting an alarm on the device's speakers, take pictures using the device's camera (front or back,) which it will then email to you.
Lots of other features, too. I'm just lazy to list them. Works like a charm, well-worth the $4, and it hides the app icon on the device, so whoever's got it has no idea what's going on, and can't uninstall it.
Edit: This is the Market app for it, the description is much more in-depth.
No idea, used a different method(Old model). I can try downloading it and using another filehost, maybe the one you are trying isn't working?
try this one
How do you try to open them? Do you go through filer or do you try and open them from with an office suite (polaris for instance).
I would also try using dropbox. This creates a synced shared folder between all your devices. Very useful for keeping track of files and such. https://www.dropbox.com/
