I support the change for my own reasons, but also, Ninja Kiwi has been working on Battles 2 for over 3 years now (source), and so there's likely been a lot of thought into Boosts Only Powers. They're making this call because it's the best thing for Battles 2. 馃コ
In blog posts and their Ask Me Anything on YouTube. The best explanation is probably in their first June 2021 post: https://ninjakiwi.com/blog/news/173432-what-s-up-at-ninja-kiwi-4th-june-2021
Just read the first question. :)
Yup, crashing every tenth game. Being forced to surrender 1/10 the time, with glass fibre LAN access WIFI. Buffered eco every second game. Towers still being extremely unbalanced. And Mastery taking forever as non VIP. Yup, great game. I am tired of trying to get into hall of masters, when every play session of mine ends in multiple games in a row losing to lag, bugs or NKs crappy implementation of P2P.
Bloons Pop was announced on 25th/26th March 2021 on Ninja Kiwi's March 2021 AMA. On April 9th, 2021, Ninja Kiwi's weekly blog revealed that it would be "reminiscent of the old school original Bloons series, but not a match three or bubble game." It was released on 15th June 2021 for iOS and Android.
On March 24, 2021, Ninja Kiwi was acquired by Modern Times Group for around 1.6 billion crowns ($186 million USD) to "broaden its gaming portfolio", with intent to expand into the tower defense genre whilst still maintaining the HiGh qUAliTy StAnDaRdS that it strives for.
Bloonspop heavily relies on ads for their monetisation along with other (underhanded) methods: (Read all the similar reviews and compare the cons)
NinjaKiwi was sold, and 2 days after it was sold it had an ambitious plan to create a game which heavily relies on ads. Since the time NinjaKiwi was sold, the bloons franchise took a dark turn. BTDB2 is a result of another over ambitious plan from a fallen company. Take that loyalty of yours and shove it somewhere else; NinjaKiwi is gone, and BTDB2 will never experience the same glory as BTDB1
This is my 3rd game running dartling + sniper + village, and WOOOOOOO WEEE
(I know getting all 3 t5 dartlings was unnecessary, but I really wanted to do it to him)
So instead of trusting ISPs that work directly with government that bomb children, I am trusting a company like Mullvad that is independently audited that has no log. Besides, you can self-host your own VPN.
This is a good thing to note. Early access on Steam will be public, and then right before it, they will invite some people outside of NK. (confirmed on this blog post)
At no point have they mentioned YouTubers, so we technically have no idea if any YouTubers will get early access. However, BTD6 + the Dartling Gun did have early access versions for some YouTubers, so YouTubers are still a good guess.
In one of NK鈥檚 blogs, they revealed which towers were used most in BTD6! The top were dart, farm, and sniper, so maybe something like that. Of course, every tower is pro-level if used well.

I鈥檇 hate to think of sniper as a noob tower, though - it鈥檚 so fun!
