There's also an insane amount of garbage you have to wade through on Prime. They have those goofy partisan Dinesh D'Souza documentaries and Loqueesha. There's no way to filter out absolute trash that clutters the platform.
It's not going to help, but it won't hurt the box office either. At this point though, this is such a wild card I can't tell where it will go.
I'd be a lot more worried for Free State of Jones, sitting on a 0% on RT as I write. Might be the worst bomb of the summer at this point since Popstar.
This is the basic problem with cyberpunk
It needs to be combined with another genre to work, matrix was NOT a classical cyberpunk story.
Like the alien invasion genre and how it pretty much died in its classic form least it is combined with superheroes or some other premise.
Project 77(star wars meets blade runner 2049, that is basically the world building) could work as a box office hit with the right combo of character development and tone...or forget it maybe it would be better a Netflix series.
https://www.amazon.com/Project-77-Martin-Deschambault/dp/1775070700
They need to start vetting their directors far better. Neither Snyder nor Ayer have a particularly great track record - especially the former but even the latter: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/326392049/
Good question, which led to some research.
This source pinpoints the decline as 1973. Excerpt below:
>But the year that brought Richard Nixon's triumphant reelection [1972] was the last in which western releases would reach double figures. The subsequent falloff was dramatic: Four westerns were released in 1973; two in 1974; five in 1975; seven for the Bicentennial; two in 1977; three in 1978; and a total of three between 1979 and 1984, the year of TV western host Ronald Reagan's even more spectacular reelection. As J. Fred MacDonald put it in his history of the television western, "no form of mass entertainment has been so dominant and then so insignificant.”
This Quora question has some insight as well. The space race is cited as being one of the cultural influences that swayed audience away from westerns. There was also lost relevancy as people with ties to the old west were dying out. Mid-70's also coincided with when Gunsmoke and Bonanza, two of the longest running TV shows in history, were cancelled. This is interesting since the implication is that some "bigger, better" thing needs to come along to capture the audience away from superhero movies in order for a full on collapse to happen as opposed to just frittering away.

What the fuck are you talking about? Literally the first article I posted from healthline is peer-reviewed by PhD holder in clinical psychology, and the article is sourced from a highly-cited scientific paper from a reputed well-known journal
Does the facts showing the exact opposite of your beliefs trigger your racist ass?
The studio doesn't keep all of the gross. $650M in tickets means half-ish goes to the theaters and the rest back to the studio.
Okay so Disney bought Star Wars just before 2013. Since they sell an average of 3 billion dollars worth per year pre TFA of merch and given 10% of that that's 300 million per year. So that's 600 million by 2015. They sold 5 billion dollars worth of merch in 2016 alone, that's another 500 million. I can't find any stats for 2017 so I'll take and educated guess and say it's between the 2 other figures at 4 billions dollars from merch. So that's another 400 million.
So we start of with 1.5 billion from merch alone. TFA had a $595 million production budget and made around 2.066 billion from box office. Apparently they had an estimated 60/40 split in revenue from the tickets so (2,066,000,000 * 0.6) - 595,000,000 is equal to 644,600,000 from Force Awakens.
So now we have around 2.1446 billion. Rogue One had a production cost of 265 million. It made 1.056 billion at the box office. So (1,056,000,000 * 0.6) - 265 is equal to 368,600,000 profit.
So before TLJ Disney had made around 2.5 billion.
Assuming TLJ makes about 1.4 billion box office and the production cost was about 400 million TLJ will make around 440 million from TLJ. If Disney also makes another 400 million from merchandising in 2018 they will have total profits at 2.9 billion.
Disney only have to make 1.1 billion profit from the Han Solo movie, Episode IX and future merchandising for Star Wars to be a profit.
The lack of profiles and generally higher Audience Scores for many verified user reviews might be because of the integration of Fandango user ratings into verified user ratings for Rotten Tomatoes. Another user noted that Fandango users have historically given high ratings, a fact mentioned in this article. Anyway, I did a post with calculations of unverified audience scores at List of calculated approximate Rotten Tomatoes Unverified Audience Scores along with other Audience Scores for all domestic wide-release movies released from July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2019.
Yeah, I haven't put much thought into it. I made an app several weeks ago about size comparison in One Piece. With that in mind and how wacky characters design in One Piece are, I doubt it could be translated well into live action movie.
Which is why I suggested stop motion. With real object + design flexibility, I'm sure Laika could pull off what I couldn't imagine (fast action, design accuracy, story telling, etc)
Violet Evergarden is in the perfect spot to make a tidy amount of cash in the region, mostly in part to last year's event.
Don't downvote this person. They are correct and it's been on Disney+ since day one.

Most people use these 2 sites when aggregating reviews https://www.rottentomatoes.com http://metacritic.com
Tomatoes gives the general vibe of the film (negative or positive) while Metacritic averages the raw score from different review sites (thing is, most sites use very different measures). It is possible for a film to score higher on RT while lower on MC, meaning less polarizingly positive but not THAT good.
I prefer tomatoes myself since I prefer general vibe.
Not working with quite a few DNS servers as you can see here: https://dnschecker.org/#A/forums.boxofficetheory.com

>They find that both positive and negative reviews are correlated with weekly box office revenue over an eight-week period, suggesting that critics play a dual role: They can influence and predict box office revenue.
> Also what people tend to forget is, the point of origin. For China the point of origin is just one. You just have to draw a circle around the point of origin and successfully contained the whole virus. Then track it and draw other circles where ever necessary.
I was with you until this point. That doesn't sound logical. Wouldn't Wuhan, the 9th largest & a major city in China, have people going in & out all the time? The city has an international airport, and sits by the Yangtze river - so the modes of transportation aren't limited.
Speaking of circles, I've been using the dashboard built by John Hopkins to track real time data. Looking at China, they clearly have been impacted outside of Wuhan too. The entire Eastern part seems to have been affected and these are just the official figures.
So, I wonder, where does this idea originate? To me, other parts of China were as susceptible to this virus as other parts of the world; some responded swiftly and some didn't.
Well maybe not. Looks like the way you used is initially wrong but so many are using it that way that it's becoming accepted

One of my favorite gimmick accounts on AV Club is dedicated to this ideal:

Anyway, I would say puns have been a common use in headlines for decades, I don't think movie headlines are a unique case.
ExpressVPN works pretty well for me. I also had to switch my google play store to America and pay through google play since I don't think HBO Max accepts non-American credit cards (Disney+ definitely doesn't but I never checked with Max).
Given Stephen Follows couldn't get uniform consensus in people he surveyed I don't think there's an objective spreadsheet out there with this information.
You can poke around places and find references (e.g. a turkish box office website confirms it has a ~40% distributor/40% cinemas share/~20% VAT) but I'll flag that The Movie Business Book has a chapter on international distribution by an entertainment Lawyer which includes some good breakdowns by country.
I know the UK has a 35% cut, that the average is 40% and China has 25% for non dual productions with chinese company (dual production status gives you I think a 40% share).
Quickly checked that book - saw nothing about Russia but Netherland, and Australia+New Zealand are namechecked as 40% cuts to distributor and Italy is listed as a 50/50 cut between distributors and exhibitors with S. Korea getting 45%. Check it out, it's dry reading but it's good stuff.
Emperor's New Groove had some toys and a McDonald's Happy Meal toy line to it. I do still consider it an iconic movie.
I doubt Strange World will have a McDonald's toy line. There is this, but it only has one review, and it really isn't all that exciting. There are plenty of Encanto toys.
https://www.amazon.com/Strange-World-Collector-Multicolor-40115/dp/B09ZCLQH99
The designs of the Clades is just so boring and generic. The main character is Searcher Clade. Who really just looks like a regular dad character with a bulbous nose and a beard. None of these people have any type of super-powers like Elsa and the Madrigals do, and kids just love their super powers.
You really can't get kids excited with the Clades as the main characters. They just don't stand out and make people excited like Elsa, Maribel, and Spiderman.
I found this toy set on Amazon, but there is only one review.
https://www.amazon.com/Strange-World-Collector-Multicolor-40115/dp/B09ZCLQH99/
It is coming to VOD, though, not the "included in the subscription price" streamers. To watch it you have to pay $25 to the various streamers such as Amazon Prime, Vudu, etc.
$25 is still cheaper than taking an entire family to the movies, I guess.
It's from Sean O'Connell's "With Great Power: How Spider-Man Conquered Hollywood during the Golden Age of Comic Book Blockbusters":

So, even if it's just -30% per week from here on out, and even if this thing isn't coming out on VOD on August 22 as planned, even hitting $100m more will be a challenge, let alone another $100m on top of that.
Ahead of my back-of-the-envelope projection back in late June:
>It'll be at ~$570m after July 4, then pass ~$592m on July 10, and round out $600m either on July 15 or possibly the day before if it's coming in ahead of projection. From there it surely legs out to pass Incredibles 2's unadjusted $608,581,744 to take #11 of all time, and past The Last Jedi's $620,181,382 and The Avengers' $623,357,910, to take #9 of all time by mid August.
After that, I think it probably gets to ~$650 to round it out. Wednesday's take is going to land at something like $1.4m and Thursday maybe $1.2m, with an 8th weekend coming in at ~$10m. Keep in mind that this is going to VOD on August 23rd (90 days).
Top Gun will be streaming on August 23d. That will impact the Labor Day box office.
It's titled Frozen Hell, and was published in 2019.
I'm in the UK. I side-loaded the app onto my NVIDIA Shield and use the ExpressVPN app to gain access. HBO blows NowTV out of the water. They absolutely shot themselves in the foot by signing that Sky deal, IIRC the earliest they can launch HBO Max is 2026 (Sky deal ends December 2025).
You can try a vpn. It’ll make it appear like you’re connecting from another country. It can slow your connection but if you have high-speed internet then it shouldn’t have an issue. For the best speed, I’d recommend selecting the closest country where it isn’t banned. There are servers in Israel and Turkey on NordVPN if those are close to you.
Some streaming platforms also won’t allow a vpn but most of mine do. I just tested Disney+ with my vpn connected in Canada and it worked fine. (I’m in the US)
This is the VPN I use. I believe it cost me $90 USD for three years but I purchased it through a special offer.
Here's a billion dollars, you dumb */h's.
Chapters 'the Neon Stained Glass Murders' to 'Bajan Mark. Katy Perry is ... with a stranger in the adjoining apartment to Charlie Chaplin's old studios.
Even if he appeared in nothing, he was still cast, conceived and designed by Snyder. This Aquaman wouldn't have made a billy:

The phrase poc is woke? It exists as an argument for cross ethnic solidarity based off of a narrative of shared oppression and inequality.
The non-pejorative meaning of woke is pretty analogous to thought process of the decision to advocate for adoption of poc as a pan-ethnic identity group - “ Second, across a wide swath of circumstances, identifying as a person of color profoundly shapes how minorities view themselves and their political system. Diversity’s Child is a vital and engaging look at America’s identity politics as well as at how people of color think about racial disparities and how politics can best solve them.” https://www.amazon.com/Diversitys-Child-People-Politics-Identity/dp/022680013X
Where I live this has been the snowiest winter since 1983, we got half a foot today with more due Saturday. It's been nonstop it seems and I know it's kept me home more than usual. It just got me thinking, apparently this is Winter Storm Taylor or some shit https://weather.com/storms/winter/news/2019-03-07-winter-storm-taylor-snow-wind-blizzard-plains-midwest-northeast
No, I’m not talking about 360 videos, I would hardly call that true VR, also those videos isolate you completely while true VR theaters allow you to watch movies with friends and family and we all know socializing is a great aspect of cinema.
I’m talking about something like this it’s a fully 3D theater with a flat screen in front of you placed in different settings, ( you can use the size of the screen go as big as you can handle and you can watch in different locations like a grand traditional theater or an outdoors theaters and it feels like the real thing) this is a great type of VR apps that can be developed into something really special, like perhaps they build a live setting for the movie your watching to take to a level of immersion never felt before!
Like I said, we're off base somewhere cause I don't get where we're disagreeing. All I'm doing is reading the website where they show how RT works.
We're not clicking and I'm not getting it. I guess I'm just stupid honestly. Cause all I'm doing is reading this:
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/about/
And trying to translate it. All that shows though is RT is more complicated than it needs to be at the sake of trying to be simple. Your passion is admirable though.
That only happens if the critic doesn't give a numerical score. The simple fresh or rotten rating is given if it's 6 or higher. Literally on their website:
That's why you get odd cases like Barbershop 3 with a 91 on RT but like a 60/100 average and Batman vs Superman with like a 26 on RT but with a 50/100 average. That space in the middle feels inconsistent.
But yeah, you're wrong. The arbitrary line is 60/100.
>In an appearance on Recode Media’s podcast (https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5tZWdhcGhvbmUuZm0vcmVjb2RlbWVkaWE/episode/NmM0ZGI4ZjItMTU0OS0xMWVhLWFiMDYtMDdmMDhiNTg1NTg5) WarnerMedia chairman and head of HBO Max Bob Greenblatt revealed that the $30 million figure that was floated last week is a pie in the sky estimate.
OK, I'm not an expert, but I see a lot of people out there with blogs on Wordpress. Their site says you can start a free one there. So I believe once it's up, you can make blog posts and then keep editing them whenever you want, so you could update numbers. I'm sure this would take a little time to learn of course.
Here.
Actually try to dig a little deeper mind you as the IMDB score has a bit of nuance to it for Alita audience in the US because it was like 6 or below before it was fully release, but after it was release it match the international rating of 7.5 and seem to be continue to getting boaster upward. So the WOM is gaining momentum at this moment.
Also can you tell would this partnership between Alita Battle Angel with Xiaomi will provide any sense of the box office in China?
https://www.gsmarena.com/transparent_xiaomi_mi_9_named_after_alita_battle_angel-news-35562.php
$50 million is not bad for reshooting most of the film then. Not really sure what the issue is with $200 million though? $300 million with advertising with a floor of $500 million gross WW, home video sales, plus merchandising. People seem to forget how valuable the merchandising side of the franchise is. NPD separates Star Wars from LEGO Star Wars and they still both make the top 10.
Too busy sloshing around millions of dollars to keep municipal fiber utilities out of their market?
But more to the point, they're a lot closer than it seems. Comcast has an operating income of $16.8B while Disney has income of $15.7B. Disney also has something that almost no companies have: a massive amount of very valuable treasury stocks. Probably to the tune of $110B+ based on today's stock price. It's this vehicle that they will tap to acquire other properties in the future.

>black lead
You people deliberately act obtuse knowing very well. This isn't about "black lead". Hancock was a fucking American hero.
The entire cast of BP is black, the movie is based in Africa, music, traditional dances ,mannerisms accents everything rooted in Africa.
I am not trying to change your mind lol, just calling out your pure bullshit.
>Reddit is insignificant
Read this ignoramus..
A surprising amount of misinformed answers to this question. Executive producers are the head producers - the other producers answer to them.
They're either financiers or they're in charge of the funding. They shouldn't be involved in the actual day-to-day production of the film (in their capacity as an executive producer).
Because Branagh is very meh as a director. He doesn't know how to not chew the scenery. A phenomenal take is the David Suchet Poirot. Johnson included elements of literature (symbolism, foreshadowing, wordplay) and crafted a tighter feel. Johnson actually gave the movie a tense atmosphere with potential ramifications and a compelling protagonist and detective. It's much more well done.

Not THE most but it was on there.
Edit: Hmm, apparently it was for IMDB. "Please note, this list is not based on IMDb's user scores but the actual page views and popularity of the films, which is determined by data provided by IMDbPro."
I think The Angry Birds Movie will be fine. After all, who wouldn't want to go to a midnight show of Angry Birds?
I find it difficult to find a specific critic with a similar taste in movies to mine, especially when I find a lot of reviews tend to give away a little too much of the plot.
When it comes to non-critic opinions I like to use Criticker.com since it finds people with a similar taste in movies and uses them to give you recommendations/predictions.
You don’t gotta dump it. It takes a very small amount to get the taste you want. Binging with Babish has a recipe for movie theater popcorn that is perfect. Then I use some popcorn oil like this one instead of regular butter and get the perfect popcorn at home. My kids beg for it all the time.
Oldest one I have is Enchanted Dec. 15 2007.
I use these for organization: https://www.amazon.com/Ticket-Stub-Diary-Eric-Epstein/dp/1452114226/ref=sr\_1\_1?dchild=1&keywords=Ticket+Stub+Diary&qid=1630538538&s=books&sr=1-1
Chappie actually has a great score on Amazon. Sometimes I found that people reading on Amazon are a lot more critical than IMDb or rotten tomatoes.
https://www.amazon.com/Chappie-Blu-ray-Dev-Patel/dp/B00UC9SOKW
Zack Snyder kind of ripped off this author's book on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Z-Squad-Zombie-Infestation-Book-1-ebook/dp/B07YJGPTWF This person's book is set in Appalachia, but has the same confined apocalypse heist concept with smart zombies and was published in 2019.
Maybe not exactly the same but this book called Bambi vs Godzilla by David Mamet is pretty cool. It's about the nature of the film business and written by a world famous screenwriter and playwright (he wrote Glengarry Glen Ross). It's pretty interesting and cheap on Amazon too if you feel like checking it out!
https://www.amazon.com/Bambi-vs-Godzilla-Practice-Business/dp/1400034442
It's got a 3.5 on Amazon, which is pretty low for a book from someone with hundreds of thousands of fans and about a star lower than Ready Player One.
https://www.amazon.com/Armada-novel-author-Ready-Player-ebook/dp/B00TNDID0O
I haven't been to nearly as many as I would like! I used to go to about 1 a week, but it has been significantly less lately.
I wish I had some kind of unlimited pass! The idea of spending a day at the theater and watching 2-4 movies seems like it would be a lot of fun. But I think I could only do that like once every month or two. Good on you for committing so hard!
Have you read Patton Oswalt's book?
You must have never read a single book of Warcraft. Rise of the Horde which was likely the inspiration of this movie was a god damn good book with complex characters and serious stakes. I enjoyed it a lot.
