I have seen a grannysquare that looked as 3D as dragon scale, but it was worked very small...
Is hopefully helpful. I saw the picture and saved it for later but had not have the time to really search or try for it.
Yes Re-Groot, I've already tried to find a similar pattern on internet by Image searching. I love this feature of Google and it's very useful. But in this case it didn't help me because this is a blanket made by a woman which posted the photo on a facebook group of crocheters. I also asked to her the pattern and she said that it is an old blanket and she doesn't remember where she took the explanation :-( By the way, as you suggest me this feature of Google Image on PC, I think that I will give you a tip: after a lot of searching I found an app for ANdroid that let you look for image :-) It is called "Search By Image" and it is published by PALM TEAM. This is the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.palmteam.imagesearch
Try this link here for an InkScape download. It sounds like you’re really trying to get your patterns down on paper, so to speak, and I’m excited to see what you come up with!! I’ve seen some of your stuff here and there and you’re very talented. Together, crocheters will find a program! Haha.
You could use a Tunisian stitch! I am eternally working on a Tardis blanket using Tunisian stitch, and I planned it out in “pixels” like your Arcanine pic!
Here is my afghan so far, excuse my hand in there lol it does roll a little so I was holding down the edges. But just so you can see an example of what the pixel pattern looks like with the Tunisian stitch. The back is admittedly messy with all the colour changes, so I plan on sewing fabric on the back to cover all of it when finished!
Keep in mind I’ve never done C2C, so I might be doing it the hard way! But I love the Tunisian stitch because it’s very thick! You do need special hooks, especially for an Afghan, I got this set and they are awesome! The Tunisian stitch is like a mix between knitting and crochet, so you keep the loops on the hook for alternating rows. You can find tons of tutorials on YouTube and it’s super easy once you get the hang of it!
Looks like there's a few options ... they sell the actual headband on Amazon apparently: https://www.amazon.com/Cnorialy-Headband-Crochet-Outdoors-Protective/dp/B08V54M52N/ref=asc_df_B08V54M52N/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=507775519103&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17756225167160454522&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hv...
And then there's a free tutorial for it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/9ZynZu7ZTcg
Granny square source book, if you have to get one book it’s this one https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Granny-Square-Sourcebook-Contemporary/dp/9491643290/ref=asc_df_9491643290/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385629069539&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7491915861311636975&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032181&hvtargid=pla-816187416470&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=78303888466&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=385629069539&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7491915861311636975&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032181&hvtargid=pla-816187416470
I made the bullion stitch backpack. The pattern was really easy to follow
Yes! It's from this set of patterns. The patterns have actually been pretty easy to follow up until this one. I wish the pattern would have specifically said to only work into one loop of the chain.
Looking at yarn you've used in the past, if you don't mind cotton for this blanket then in Cotone Fiocco the best matching colours would be:
First stitches/central flower: Giallone - 7228
Second round of granny stitches: Confetto - 7306
Third round: Rosso - 7288
Fourth round: Bourdeux - 7289 (more red, like Rosso) or possibly Bruciato - 7190 (more brown)
The stitches that connect each square are in Giallone again, or whatever your central colour is.
I got this palette from the Contone Fiocco yarns listed here https://www.amazon.it/filati-italiani-Uncinetto-Maglieria-Giallone/dp/B085RDKB9R?th=1. If you had another yarn brand in mind let me know and I can colour match those instead!
I have both of the following and they have some pretty amazing stuff inside:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1570769540/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1603420398/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Right now there's Lions Brand Hometown (6)(https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042TLR2U/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1) on sale at Amazon for 2.97 for select colors. Not all of them are this price but like 5 of the colors, you have to find them. The yarn itself is nice with a pretty sheen. They only let you get 4 at a time but then I go back the next day and get 4 more.
I put this book on my Holiday wish list.
It's a stitch and not a pattern book, but you can certainly get a lot of practice in.
I've been crocheting for over 15 years. There are tons of free patterns online. I only buy the occasional pattern to support artistic contribution. All my pattern books were gifted to me. This is a site I found a long time ago and continue to use.
(As others pointed out) Your local library will have a lot of pattern books.
I was able to find the 1990 book it was also published in on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Weiss-Complete-Guide-Thread-Crochet/dp/B003EN54GA
Also on Ebay if you're an ebay person:
I just made something similar to this. I used Bernat brand cotton yarn, here’s the link for the cheapest color on amazon $5ish.
