There's only one LCDH in Varadero. Here is the tripadvisor link
Opening boxes to check for mold and beetles should be fine, just don't go around looking at wrapper shades and that kind of stuff.
I had it happen once about 5 months ago. Then I switched to using Capital One Enos (since my CC is Capital One), which generates a one-off CC number for you to use. Only downside is it is desktop only as it is a browser plug-in.
I see a lot of people saying privacy.com, but I believe that is limited to debit cards only.
Seriously- simpler is easier, especially if you're new to cigars. Go to Amazon, get a Sistema box, a Spanish cedar tray, and a couple of 65% Boveda packs. Those packs will last a year in that box.
Not sexy, but very functional. And if cigars end up not being your thing, you have an awesome tupperware box for lettuce or whatnot.
And don't buy GME.
I've ordered from both (if you mean iHavanas), and both are solid in terms of service and quality. I use Privacy.com on iH orders and haven't had any hacking issues since one a year ago. Cuban Lou uses a different pay portal altogether.

I’ve been using this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0872ZWV8X
It’s been reliable, it can connect to your Wifi so you can get notifications of issues with your humidor even when you’re not at home, the data visualization through the app is good, and it uses regular AA batteries.
Just calibrate it using the salt test or Boveda’s calibration solution and you’re good to go.

Both are legit sources. TC trends a bit more expensive and charges $20 for shipping, but products arrive faster. iHav has better prices with free shipping but a lot of folks report having their credit cards hacked after buying from them (not accusing iHav it has something to do with their CC processing service).
Regardless best to use a prepaid credit card or something like privacy.com which doesnt share any of your payment or personal info with the processing service.
hes also telling you to buy one of these:

I recently got this one as a gift from a friend. It is beautiful, tight seal, holds at 63%, and just learned it’s REALLY inexpensive on Amazon
I got a cigar oasis to go with it to save money in the long run on boveda packets.
You don't need an ultra fancy cooler. If it's literally 100% air tight it will conflict with the goal of some air exchange.
I use a couple of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AU6G4QS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They will hold 12-15 boxes depending on shape.
I use 2 Boveda 65% packs in each. It holds RH at about 63%. I open it and peek, check the Bovedas, and rotate a few boxes every month or so.
Does the job nicely.
It's happens when they obtain stock from sources that don't want to have the cigars tracked back to them (the original vendor could get into trouble with Habanos SA otherwise). However, buy one of these pocket microscopes and you should be able to piece together the serial number (even though the may try to gouge away the microstamping)
Pictured: Cohiba Robusto (PSM, ABR 13), black french press coffee, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig, and a nice little garden recently started in our backyard...
It was very good, but I honestly wasn't as enthralled with this Cohiba as I hoped I would be. I wasn't taking notes, because I wasn't planning on reviewing it, but I got hints of lemon rind, fresh cut grass, herbal tea...things like that. I think I still prefer the milk coffee/hazelnut combo of flavors I usually get from Upmann.
Oh well, definitely will let the others rest and see how they turn out.
A few thoughts.
1) it isn't theoretical. I've been doing this for a decade. Others have been doing it longer and posting their results. But I welcome additional research. So big thumbs up.
2) From what I can see in the pics, you have way too much air in the bags. They shouldn't be loose in the bags. It should be snug, without going too far for crushing.
3) The ziplock bags are pointless. Those bags allow air exchange. I don't think you will learn much there.
4) Your cigar collection for freezing may benefit from lighter cigars. I see someone mention a HDM Epicure #2. That is a perfect cigar for this experiment. Monty 2 is another good one though as they tend to fade after around 7 years.
5) If you want to be cool like me, toss some of them in the freezer! Make sure to really remove all the air though
6) If you really want to take my crown from me, try nitrogen. Removes 100% of the oxygen and inserts an inert gas. Machine like this: https://www.amazon.com/Automatic-Continuous-inflation-Nitrogen-Expanded/dp/B014PG5MXO
It was a weird brand I found on Amazon, Tobargar. Must be some sort of white/private label type of system. Here's the link https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P94HJX6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I had the same problem. Recently, I was doing more research and found that Bovedas are great at maintaining humidity, terribly at drawing it out. So based on another thread, I found these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000H0XFCS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details, bought 1, pulled out all the bovedas in my wineador, and stuck this in and the RH is dropping. I'm waiting for it to hit around 62% and then I'll put the Eva-dry and replace it with my 62% Bovedas. Will let you know how it works out!
Oh, and as u/Cannadamis suggested, I found running unplugged works much better at maintaining RH.

Had the heater below hooked up in the garage last weekend while watching the game with some buddy's and smoking cigars. Most impressive heater I have ever used. It was in single digits, I have a three car garage and this heater kept the garage at 68-70 degrees for four hours while watching the game. This with two windows open in the garage for ventilation.

Theyre pretty much what everyone here and r/cigars recommends for using as a tupperdore. I have 2-3 65% large boveda packs in all of mine
2 of these fit nicely in a sistema, although lately ive just been emptying my boxes and stacking them in my other tupperdores
I don’t have one but they certainly look nice. For me, I like the Sistema. A bit larger and cheaper. You can add the Spanish cedar tray and Boveda packs for about $52
Not as cool as the Boveda but certainly functional and a good seal. That said, My preference is wooden humidors for singles. Sistema 263
Like that it's see through. Not sure what they cost and how they seal. I have a couple of the "Rubbermaid Leak-Proof Brilliance" containers (9.6 cup) that I use to store some of my singles, they look similar and are air tight. I dropped a Boveda pack in it and have not experienced any loss of humidity at all. I purchased them in a two set at Amazon (see link) for about $21.00. A nice alternative that will offer the same or better storage capacity.

$54.99 in 2019. Lost that to the flood in September.
Bought a replacement last month for $55.99 during the holidays as it was on sale.
I’ve also used it in my basement but only before we go on a trip and no one will be home for more than a few days.
There’s a timer on it and I would hold my breath and close my eyes before turning it on. Now, I either use a long extension cord and turn it on before plugging in the extension cord when doing the car or use a smart plug when doing the basement. Thinking about using it in an outdoor shed to treat suits in the future.

idk about privacy.com though, I get they protect your card details, but if something goes wrong your giving them access to force charge you bank account, like when you get a hotel room and your get charge for damages. I've read some scary shit about when pricavy.com goes wrong.
I've had this with multiple vendors. It's from their payment processors. Many have said it before. Use privacy.com
You can create a single burner card for every order you want to do. You also have the ability to "turn on and off" a card. Order some cigars, turn it off, wait till you order it again and turn it on etc

I ended up getting a reloadable Visa from AAA. Reasonable fees and I can easily reload with an ACH from my bank and I successfully ordered from iHavanas.
Privacy.com looks really great and I wanted to go that route but unfortunately my Credit Union is not on their list.
And a big Shout Out to Bryan at iHavanas: I wanted cigars off the October promotions and by the time I had my card and everything set their payment system was down and didn't come back up until November 1st. I reached out and Bryan got back to me within hours and set me up with the October prices for my three boxes. That's outstanding customer service!
Funny thing is I only ended up with one box of Cubans because I really wanted the Rocky Patel ALR and Oliva Serie V Melanio Diadema
I have heard of people recommending privacy.com. I looked at it but haven't used it. I guess the service they provide is that it keeps your CC info safe. This is also a workaround for folks who have MC instead of Visa (iHavana only takes Visa).

Seems like a good alternative. I, too, only have a Mastercard (well, the card I prefer to use is a Mastercard) so this might be something I could use, too.
It would live in my basement where the temps remain more stable. It never gets above 70° in summer but in winter it could get as low as 60°.

In my opinion they don't dehumidify nearly as well as they claim, even when they're partially depleted. The best luck I had pulling down humidity is with this little closet dehumidifier that fits nicely in my winedor. It's silica based, you just plug it in now and again to dry out the beads. I put it in there when it creeps up too high and within a few days it's back in range. If you're using something smaller like a Tupperware, you can use small batches of silica beads the same way.
(I got it from Amazon.) [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0085EJPF4/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_VFEVWF6RFHAAV72DBSRS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1] I do enjoy it. Seasoned easily, good seal. Holds at 65% just fine with 2 boveda's. It can probably hold more than 100 also, I haven't done a count of how many I have in there, but there's a box of quintero favoritos and jlp brevas under the tray and they only take up the right side of the divider. Left side under the tray is NC.
This is what I have. Pretty sure it’s just a rebranded Audew or at the very least very similar. I’ve had it for a couple months and it works great and a few people on r/cigars have it and like it a lot as well. It’s not on sale now but when I got it there was a $80 off coupon so it was $230ish after taxes plus you get free shipping with prime

The Sistema KLIP-IT on Amazon are really popular for Tupps, I have four of these. Kind of like a large shoe box. Really easy to stack. Each hold three boxes and a bunch of single or five packs. Once you have the humidity where you want it the 60g Boveda holds it rock steady.
I like these because they are clear and made of non-BPA food grade plastic. Def worth the $$. I just use my regular humidor as a dry-box now with a 62% Bov.

Same bag is fine for calibration--you can do two at once. Consider the built-in hygrometer as a decoration--they're useless. The govee ones are pretty neat. It stores a log of temperature and humidity over time and displays a graph on your phone so you can see how your humidity fluctuates over time. You also dony have to open the humidor to check the humidity which is nice. For 15 bucks they can't be beat.

I have two Sistema Tupperdors with two cedar trays in each one, along with either a 62% or 65% Boveda, whichever I have handy. They last forever.
For box storage, I have a coleman cooler with cedar shelves, and I use a pound of 65% Heartfelt beads. I also have a wine cooler ("wineador") that I don't even plug in any more--it just holds RH really nicely and stores a lot of boxes. It, too, has about a pound or two of Heartfelt beads.
With the beads, I find I don't have to do anything to them in the spring, summer, and fall, but I do need to add some distilled water every few weeks from December to about April.
I find the idea of a fancy humidor is a waste of money. If you've got serious coin and a showplace house then go for it. But if you're just a regular joe who values the preservation of your sticks over appearance then you can't beat the tupperdors or coolerdors. The problem I find with dedicated nice-looking humidors is that they simply don't seal all that well, nor do people take the time to season them correctly or maintain humidity levels correctly. I've owned several in my years of smoking and I gave up on the whole idea.

They are great. They fit 25 count boxes of robustos perfectly. They just sit on top of eachother and have a narrow gap for 320g boveda
I bought a electronic humidifier from Amazon and left it in the for 2 weeks then put in my cigars.

Yeah! There are different sizes but none for cigarillos. Which is fine. It worked really well, the flavour slightly changes but full smoke is still there. The cigar was all ash at the end. Nothing went to waste. Probably one of the best smoking experiences I had. It really felt nice. Hadn’t felt a buzz in a while lol. I’ll edit this post with a link of the ones I bought.
here are the ones I bought. they sell on the Canadian and American amazon.
Just start buying boxes now. Smoke one the day they come. This gives you a baseline. Smoke another after a few weeks, and a month, etc. Learn how much rest each one seems to need in your humidor to smoke the way that best pleases you. This controlled study can only be performed on cigars from the same box (or at the very least the same code).
Trust me when I tell you that you will indeed smoke all of them. No need to worry about buying too many. Just get boxes, dude. If you don't have enough variety, buy more boxes of OTHER shit. If you don't have enough space, buy a big wine cooler.
You're not going to really get a proper feel for what each of those cigars you're buying, can taste like, by buying fivers. I personally think fivers are best when you already know you really like a vitola, but can't justify the price of an entire box. Take the price-per-stick hit and call it your splurge.
i was also looking at this because it has the temperature. https://www.amazon.com/SensorPush-Wireless-Thermometer-Hygrometer-Android/dp/B01AEQ9X9I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1513663671&sr=8-1&keywords=smart+hygrometer
My current box was given to me as a gift, so I can't confirm the precise make and model, but it is extremely similar to (if not identical to) THIS.
I'm happy with it. seal is good. I haven't had any RH swings since getting it properly conditioned.
I'm actually going the opposite direction. I want a big coolerdor or a stack of tupperdors so i can age a bunch of full boxes.
I don't use a tupperdor anymore because I barely smoke 2 sticks a month, I just pick up at my local stop the day before, so mind my ignorance with this next question. If i get this, do I need to throw in boveda or? Does it need to be washed before use? Do i need to calibrate a hygro to use it? Thanks! https://www.amazon.com/Cigar-Caddy-Waterproof-Travel-Humidor/dp/B001CRWDBE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478091211&sr=8-1&keywords=travel+humidor
I have 2 150 count humidors, nothing fancy, one is a glass top and one isn't. They both hold humidity well. I also have a large storage bin.
Easy to move, completely airtight, large enough to hold 20+ boxes
You don't need a humidor. You just need a tupperware container that will seal tight and a boveda pack, e.g. one of these
That will keep the humidity fine for your cigars. If you want to spend $10 extra you can get a cheap hygrometer so you'll know the pack is working properly.
With that you're pretty much set, buy em and keep em in there till you want to smoke.
