How's it feel to not only be wrong, but to also contribute absolutely nothing to the conversation?
Guy also uses this for paid work.
Hey,
Definitely working on some usability enhancements, I just got some of the functionality working recently so apologies for current appearance
There are some hangs, in the background i have server-side activity managing stream keys. Will work to minimize that on the app
RTMP settings for facebook live can be found using these instructions: https://www.xsplit.com/support/broadcaster/troubleshooting/custom-rtmp-facebook
Lastly, if you don’t setup a target/destination to stream to, the stream only goes live within the app itself (plotted on map, shows in recent streams)
Skins etc don't really help with visibility. I use a Firehouse "Dual" strobe mounted on landing skids, it's visible 1500' - 2000' out and doesn't seem to affect flight. Easily snaps on and off, doesn't block vents, easier takeoff/landing and fits in the Fly More case under the batteries.
I bought one of these when I got my Mini
UZOPI Mavic Mini Air Pro Platinum Spark Accessories Tablet Holder – Aluminum Adjustable Remote Controller Bracket Mount Extender with Neck Lanyard Strap for 4-12 Inch Phone Tablets https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B071RK5FYY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_PJ4BSW3M39YDEVGGT4CN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Solves the large phone issue/clamp block quite easily.
I occasionally take my Mavic Mini backpacking...
Usually, I just bring the drone (with one battery and gimbal cover) @255g and the controller @251g. On most trips, I just charge the battery in the drone from my powerbank. On the occasions where I know I'll need more than 30mins of flight time, I'll bring a second battery @100g.
To keep the drone safe while hiking, I store it in a small case @137g. The controller is a bit more robust, so I just use this silicone cover @29g to secure the antennas and offer some simple protection. Both easily fit into a large ziploc bag @9g for protection from the rain.
Total weight is 681g (or, about 1.5 pounds).
There is this one https://www.amazon.ca/Lykus-Titan-MM200-Waterproof-Mavic/dp/B08NDVKZLX
You can possibly find it cheaper if you pluck your own foam Maybe this one
https://www.amazon.ca/Lykus-HC-3010-Waterproof-Customizable-30x20x12cm/dp/B07YTWVVFJ
I'm shopping myself so hope to find a good solution.
I bought the UZOPI tablet holder. Works great and comes with a bag and a nice lanyard. I use it with my 8.4" Samsung Tab A.
I concur with the landing pad. It's great as you can put it on top of taller grass or leaves and it gives you a nice place to see from the sky. I bought this one and it folds up nicely into my backpack:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078V5K8S9
Also might want to look into a large capacity power bank so you can recharge batteries while out and about.
I've been debating ordering these
Do you think the whole pack is generally necessary? Were I live is by the water and very bright. I've heard bad things about the CPL filters, like they're super finicky to set up for the shot.
This one came with my second mini 2 (long story) it works just as well and is a little more compact. I think maybe about half the size of the other one but hard to tell. https://www.amazon.com/DJI-Mavic-Satchel-Rucksack-Accessory/dp/B07RDF8Y6B/ref=asc_df_B07RDF8Y6B/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416882788518&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15227564950648768997&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&...
I have a Pixel 6 Pro and the original Mavic Mini and Osmo Mobile 4. I haven't had any issues using the DJI app for the mini. I know they support Apple better but it is working for me. I don't think this completely would replace the DJI apps but I also use Dronelink. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dronelink.dronelink
The support for the Osmo Mobile is poor compared to Apple devices.
Attempt to tighten the screws with this screw I linked from Amazon. Please do not use the included screwdriver. I had to sent my M3P into DJI after stripping the screws and getting the props stuck! Amazon
This happened to me and I had to replace the ribbon cable for the gimbal.
It’s honestly not that difficult to do but it is time consuming. I purchased the cable off Amazon.
Original Mavic Mini Replacement... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085GGS2QW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It's from the excellent Airdata UAV. You can see more screens from one of my more successful flights here (weird people on Imgur downvoting that album, no idea why).
i really like this label maker. Lets me cut and paste text off my phone to print, rather than using a tiny keyboard or whatever.
Thanks! So, for the macro shots I've used both an Iphone 8 with an additional macro lens (this one: https://www.amazon.com/KINGMAS-Universal-Samsung-BlackBerry-Smartphones/dp/B00FTSG35E/ref=sr_1_8?crid=36FQ4VM15JV2A&keywords=macro%2Blens%2Bfor%2Biphone%2B1.25&qid=1650705859&sprefix=macro%2Blens%2Bfor%2Biphone%2B1.2%2Caps%2C159&sr=8-8&th=1)
and a Fuji x-t4 with the kit 18-55 lens. For shooting with the Iphone I've used the Moment App, to have more control over the camera settings (focus, iso...)
For instance, the caterpillar clip (2:05) was shot with the Iphone, the butterfly one (2:23) with the Fuji.
Bro fuck DJI I crashed my brand new mini se with in a week ( last Wednesday ) DJI quoted me £220 to repair the gimbal which I did with glue and the cable which I changed with a DJI mini 2s gimbal ribbon. I got a DJI mini 2 today.
But I ordered a mini tool kit from Amazon 120 in 1 Precision Screwdrivers Set, Mini Screwdriver Set DIY Repair Tools Kit for iPhone Laptop PC Watch Glasses Xbox and Other Electronices, Small Screwdriver Kit with Magnetic Memory Mat https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZDFN1K3/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_P8MJDWDEC88JHWBNMJQ2
That's all you need and some time. Repair it yourself DJI kept forcing me to pay £220 when the drone brand new is £270 😂 also I wanted to know if the DJI mini 2 gimbal ribbon is compatible with the se as the gimbal tech is the same as the mini 2, they didn't even wanna Tel me that so I just took the risk which paid off
Also would this be good to buy if they are worth it? TOMAT Yagi-UDA Antenna Booster for DJI Air 2S, 5.8Ghz Remote Controller Signal Range Extender for DJI Mini 2/ Mavic Air 2 /DJI Air 2S Accessories https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F5499N8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6Q1AEKRSGPZDAK3CTDZN
I ordered these but I honestly don't know much about filters
Skyreat ND Filters Set for DJI Mavic Mini/Mini 2 /Mini SE Accessories,6 Pack-(CPL, UV, ND8, ND16, ND32, ND64) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0824V129W/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_50V03R76FWHH0RHWDWBS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
CPL (Circular polarizing lens) may help with flare.
Another cheap option is to buy or 3d print a hood for the gimbal. I have one and it works well under a lot of border situations:
https://www.banggood.com/Sunnylife-Gimbal-Camera-Lens-Hood-for-DJI-Mavic-Mini-or-Mavic-mini-2-RC-Drone-p-1622497.html?cur_warehouse=CN&rmmds=search
And sometimes lens flare is desirable. Up to you to make that decision.
I have the same, even in open spaces
These did the trick for me, my mini goes over 1 km now - as long as i keep the antennas pointed in the right direction…
Sadly, don't have much real life experience with that as I sold off my MM a year ago, but while I had it, I never used any prop holders. Instead, I made sure to pack the MM in the case only when traveling, trying to keep the props from laying across each other, and unpack it as soon as I got home. Never experienced any warped prop errors after.
I did buy a pair of prop holders like these for my Air 2 though, and I'd imagine these would work fine, protecting the props from warping. I'd certainly avoid anything like this though, due to the pressure the band would exert on the props.
I dont have a linkt to the brand I have because they were a gift, but its something like this...
https://www.amazon.com/RCGEEK-Extender-Controller-Antenna-Compatible/dp/B08D3LCLHT
You just slip them halfway down the antennae.
I didn't catch what drone you have, but...
One option, and I dont know how feasible it is for you, is to buy a generic case, then cut the foam inside to hold the drone. Then you could leave the wings spread, and the props on, the gimble cover would still be recommended as it keeps the gimble from moving all over, but you MIGHT get away with taking the cover off at the beginning of the trail, and putting back in when you were done for the day...
This would trade some of the portability of the foldable drone for the convenience of not needing to unfold it.
Something like this: Pelican 1120 Case With Foam (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051QIBUE/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_7MS8561ZMM0ZMX7H55FD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Disassemble the leg shaft, bearing and screws etc
Install the bearing with "UV Light Curing Glue". This is a glue and a filler. And reassemble the leg.
Mine flies again with a folding back leg
Good luck
https://www.amazon.com/Curing-Plastic-Adhesive-Seconds-Anything/dp/B07ZQVH9TR
I grabbed one of these a while back; extra step during setup but allows me to view the screen closer and worry less about feeding the cable after taking the case off. Used once with a Samsung Note 9 but since downsized and works even better:
Sure, I just copy-pasted my message to Natural_Artifact:
"So I use Hugin:
and Darktable:
I just googled for a panorama stitcher and a free software that is kind of like Adobe Lightroom. You take pictures from one side to the other (I use cinematic and don't move too far between each picture) and sometimes change elevation and do the same(you might want to lock down the exposure on the mini). Then us Hugin to make the panorama and Darktable to do the colour grading and other effects. I just messed around on my own. If you have any questions feel free to ask, but I am by no means an expert, just an experienced tinkerer. ;-)"
Ah that's cool. I don't use the video in the Fly App, I download the footage and use DaVinci Resolve on PC, but I just learned a few things. Thanks!
there are third party ones that you can buy on amazon/ebay as well, this one in the video is the official one.
https://www.amazon.com/Original-Mavic-Propeller-Holder-Accessories/dp/B081G6PPS4/ref=sr\_1\_32?dchild=1&keywords=mavic%2Bmini%2Bprop%2Bguard&qid=1634707705&qsid=145-5680591-7966923&sr=8-32&sres=B0811MK3B4%2CB08M89NJC9%2CB07ZP73...
about $19 for the frame if you do decide to fix it yourself. if it was the drones fault they told me they can check the flight data. i had dji care insurance but had to pay replacement fee for mine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RYWM3LL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_QAYSRGMBWZY1YXQCND61?psc=1
I live in Canada and the VCUTECH holder I found in Amazon if for the Mavic Mini 2 controller. Kooks nice, but expensive.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08QF4SJ1D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_i_VD8H9S0CATXN92BHRBSX
On other hand, the STARTRC price seems more reasonable and can fit my MM1 controller.
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08N1279NM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_i_TBT12X1GMTM4XHSBDDPG
Reading the comments, both have pros and cons. Hard decision.
oh ok
These are the ones I use. I read in a different thread that the regular ones don't do much and people were recommending the "bright day" pack as it makes a difference.
I have two sets. Skyreat ND Filters Set for DJI Mavic Mini/Mini 2 Accessories,6 Pack-(CPL, UV, ND8, ND16, ND32, ND64) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0824V129W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4GAQRB0HZ3NMZ6RX5BG2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
And Freewell Long Exposure... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0876XS8Y5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Both have treated me well without issue. No light bleeding in the bottom corners nor do they fall off. They feel very secure on the drone.
Thanks, I'll see if I can find that video. I was trying to figure out which set would be more useful because I can't bring myself to spend $100 for the full kit of 8 filters. I just ordered this cheaper set off of Amazon, I'll see what is my most used filter if any and maybe upgrade to freewell or tiffin filters later.
I got some nice little leg extensions that snap on the arms. They're small enough you can still fold it up when they're on and they add very little weight or wind resistance, much less than those bottom landing skids do. These are the ones I got: RCGEEK Foldable Extensions.
I also tried some similar ones that were nice, but a little too bulky. The RCGeek ones work just fine. They add about an inch of ground clearance, which I think is a good thing if you're landing anywhere that's not totally flat and clear of obstructions. Makes me more comfortable landing anywhere really.
I got this one on Amazon for $55. Big enough to also carry my signal boosters, a tablet holder, and my 8.4" samsung tablet. I did have to cut a little bit to improve the fit for the MM with leg extensions, and lost a battery spot to make room for the tablet holder, but no big deal, I only have 3 batteries and they stay in the charger. It holds everything very secure and has a waterproof gasket. Also has slots on the controller spot so you don't have to remove the sticks and two spots for spare sticks. Way better than just buying a harbor freight universal case that you have to cut yourself.
Lekufee Waterproof Case Compatible with DJI Mavic Mini Drone and More Mavic Mini Accessories
I've found a free Android app that creates HDR images from stacked photos.
It seems to be one of the only apps I could find that will take stacked images rather than just adjust colour levels to create HDR images.
You can find it by checking the developer apps.
But here you have the link to it:
Exactly, it’s really inconsistent for sure. This is the one that I purchased and use, but I think that any one in this shape will work the same way. I was hesitant as well, but it did really make a big difference and I use it every time that I fly now. For reference, I was going about 150-200m away before getting choppy signal and now it’s more like 300m.
I bought a 6 filter kit from Skyreat, but after trying the ND16 and finding that it wouldn't hold itself securely in place I ended up returning them and getting the TOMAT 4 filter ND/PL set instead. I saw several reviews that said the ND/PL combo filters are the best. I just have to figure out how to use the PL dial. I haven't flown with them yet, but I tried one on and it seemed to hold in place pretty well. They're small enough that you can leave it on with the gimbal gaurd. They're also noticeably smaller than the skyreat filters which is good for preventing gimbal issues, or so I've read. Now I just need the smoke to clear out, it's ugly out there.
I got the idea from a YouTube video; he linked to a camera but I found one that's even better for this application because it comes in a frame. I just used some sticky Velcro and let it sit overnight and then added a Tiny Whoop battery using a long battery strap around the Mini.
You'll have to position it pretty close to the end for best results because of the fisheye. I hadn't realized how much latency is inherent in the DJI system until I tried this out and miraculously no more crashes despite being a lot more daring!
Oh, hey!
I just found one of your other videos the other day and subscribed immediately! I love the way you showed how to manipulate 4 controls at once, it's really helped me! Thanks!
P.S. After watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvVYeYSAH4E I got this camera module https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072V2KZ5K/ and it greatly improved confidence flying through serious gaps due to almost zero latency and the fisheye view of side obstacles.
I do the same thing. I have a lowepro truckee 150 bag. It's tiny but I can fit my A7 with a 50mm on body in the bottom section, plus a 28-200mm in the top section. I stick the remote in the water bottle pocket on the side, then I have some small black carton egg foam (much like what's in the top of OP's case, but much smaller) that I wrap the mini in and fit it in the bottom section. Tiny backpack but I have everything I could need with me every day when I go to work.
Control sticks cover: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082FW1V7L/
Mini cover: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081GB2KX2/
Also, for what it's worth, I upgraded my control sticks to the metal ones from the Mavic Air and the cover fits on those as well.
Here are some third party kits on Amazon with a whole set and with propellers.
I believe that's the gimbal ribbon cable which I believe you can get here, I'm just not sure where the other two cable are in this picture. So double check that.
I got the 6 pack ones. The wider ones, not the circular ones. Apparently the circular ones create a small amount of vignette in the corners of the image.
DJI really missed the boat on charging.
Sure, business/commercial/professional customers just buy more batteries and more chargers.
Us hobbyists only have so many days off to drive around, find a nice fun new place to fly at, and then in a very short 2-3 battery time period - we either try spending more money ( that we don't have in the middle of a global pandemic ) on batteries - or we're stuck waiting around 3+ hours for charging before we can have any more fun..
Anyway, too much of a tangent there - the point was that I would buy this : https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Charger-IRCtek-Charging-Transmitter/dp/B082H43T1J and just keep an eye out for battery sales or people in your area selling their "parts" when they quit because it was more of an impulse that didn't turn into a new hobby for them
I have this one. It works great.
