From https://gab.com/about/guidelines:
Impersonation:
You will not impersonate any brand, business, or personal entity that is not your own. Parody accounts are allowed, but must be clearly labeled as a “parody account.” Accounts that attempt to impersonate others with the intention of deceiving users will be subject to suspension. Which do you think is more probable:
(a) they don't realize
(b) Apple and Google are denying them access to their stores

> In a surprising move, Gab, the controversial online platform primarily known for its alt-right community, has issued a press release
> > https://gab.com/gab/posts/VnZRendFcDM1alBhNm9QeWV4d0xidz09
> stating an intent to change their entire platform to a Mastodon base. In other words, Gab will soon be joining the fediverse
I think this is the right move, gamers are the most likely audience (in my opinion) to be tech savvy while not supporting extreme pc culture, and I think this could help push gab away from weird alt-right politics and towards multiple segments/moderates, which I think would be good. I think the next best move would be for him to improve groups (so they could be used for games), but that's just my opinion. I was already likely going to add another subreddit bot focused around gaming news, however I'll be open to more gaming-related subreddit requests as well.
He will also need to figure out how to work with app stores if he wants to get his chat on iPhones/Android, but that's another matter.
I saw that thread too and upvoted your posts. Mastodon.social has a skew towards the hard left, gab.com towards the hard right. I honestly think the two communities could do each other some good to reduce the amount of polarisation and extremism in each. It's sad to see both networks being so openly hostile to each other. Neither is setting a great example from their leadership.
I'm receiving the following error while running the applet in IFTTT:

Hello. I make music. I'm trying to make music for video games. I'm just now wrapping up a soundtrack for a game called Severed Steel. I've been messing with Unity and plan on making my own game in the future.
Gab is an amazing website, but it has a high proportion of despicable people on it. For example, I saw antisemitism on both Twitter and Gab today, but on Twitter it was the minority while on Gab it was the majority. It was also much darker on Gab, as dark as it could possibly be. Read the comments on here: https://gab.com/HBatakus/posts/105891115716282566
There are also tons of Qtards and other types of bigots on Gab.
Honestly if Twitter and other sites didn't push these people into dark corners of the internet where they end up in echo chambers, maybe Gab wouldn't be like this. Gab is designed really well and I love the freedom on it, but we need more loving people to get on there because too much of it is a cesspool of hate. Hate is protected by free speech, but it should still be condemned and fought against, and it should not be the norm.
I discuss audio and video tech, and usually share videos hosted on Odysee as an alternative to my YouTube channel. I rarely discuss politics, but I certainly support freedom of expression.
I've already found one subreddit here dedicated to deplatforming gab.com. I'm sure there are many more around the net. Unfortunately, websites are vulnerable to this sort of thing, even when you own the server. What we need to do if get a peer-to-peer comms network started.
Hello, thank you for replying. I just tried to log back in to check and no luck, and as much as I was excited about Gab.com I think I'm going to find alternate posting sources and black list this one. Thanks!
Finally got it to work. You have to move the spaces. Make sure you have no spaces after the token: https://gab.com/api/v1/statuses?access_token=ACCESSTOKEN
and no spaces around status: status=<<< {{Text}} >>>
I followed your steps (which were very clear) and got the following:

The Gab application page asks for a redirect URI. I don't know what that should be. I autofilled the local test code.

Thanks for your help! I'd also love to see this work in reverse. I'd personally rather post from Gab to Twitter.
Ironically they're starting to tease the group chat function, apparently it's going to be released before christmas (I saw that in another gab but I don't want to go back to find it). https://gab.com/a/posts/103303206803135684
I don’t blame them for using other people’s source, I mean that’s why it’s open source, but generally I agree. I think they would have been a lot better abandoning the “absolute free speech” platform once they merged with the fediverse so they could keep their apps on the app story and not get the boot from mastodon servers.
Also the photo upload thing sucks. That said I’ve had some meme bots running for a while and I’ve had no problems with anything like that https://gab.com/reddit_memes_bot

Yeah I keep getting:

It angered me too at first, but it's a known issue and will be fixed
Zebulan: >it would be nice if you could disable the new tab page. Right now, there is no way to disable it without disabling the entire extension... at least on Firefox, anyway.
Andrew Torba: >Yeah this is only FF. Will add something to the extension settings.
