THESE are the best bang for your buck hands down
Do yourself a favor and check THESE out. They are ultra cost effective and put out a ton of good light. They chain together and look really clean. If you search for "Barrina" on here you can see some examples.
In my opinion, if you paid $3K for that little workbench and additions, you've lost your mind.
What do you have there really? A whole 8 sq.ft. of work space if you clear everything off? How can you sit back and be ok with that for $3K? My workbench is probably more than twice that length at 9' and deeper as well. It's made of birch hardwood with steel legs and if given some moderate care will outlive me. I probably have about $700 in that workbench. I'm all pegboarded out as well. You got a monitor up but in spending $3K you still don't have anything hooked up to it?? And what are you going to spend on a Mac mini, another $800? I snagged an aging gaming PC off of Craigslist for $120 which will handle YouTube and whatever other garage shit I throw at it quite easily. Snagged a 1080 ultrawide monitor on there for super cheap as well and mounted it on a VESA swivel mount. Your lighting is truly terrible. You have one light bar going across the top? Even in the video thumbnail you can see all the shadows being cast in that dimly lit area. Do yourself a favor and grab some of these. They'll make your garage as bright as the surface of the Sun and you'll never think about lighting again.
I'm not OP and I don't know what lights he/she used but I can tell you which LED lighting I used for a lot cheaper.

These will make your garage bright af. I put them in my old garage a couple years ago. When we moved it was the first change I made to the new garage. I love them.
I installed the 12 pack version in my garage. Two rows of six fixtures. Shadows do not exist in there. You can chain up to 8 together per the instructions. I just put in an outlet close by the old light fixture to plug in each series.
Pick up an inexpensive wireless keyboard that has a built-in trackpad. This one is $25.
Once you go wireless you won't want to go back, especially on a workbench. Getting a cheap one means you won't care about it much so you'll be able to use it or abuse it in any conditions and not feel bad "because it's a nice keyboard."
I mean, it is a nice keyboard, but it's a garage keyboard. No wires make it easy to move anywhere.
I kept seeing posts about these lights so I bought them on Amazon for about $40. My dad helped install them, instructions pretty straight forward. So far, seems well worth the 40 bucks for LED lighting.
(Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded electric with built-in ON/OFF switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_I6OnBb4Q1S3MQ
I agree with this as well. I ended up getting something similar and went back and bought another set. Extremely easy to install. General rule of thumb on lighting is you want to spread your wattage out to as many different light sources as possible. It's a game changer in the garage.

That's what I got. Easy to mount either via chain or clips
Sure! We were actually going to go wall-to-wall astroturf, but wanted to test the concept out first before we sunk a bunch of cash into it. So, we went with those snapin workout floor tiles. Here’s a link to them on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001HDCIIQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EhfpFbGCFC59R
Thanks! I used a simple rack called “Racor - B1R” (Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009I8ANM/). It’s not a true swivel mount, but with a lower tire cup (separate ~$4 buy) I can adjust the bikes ~40degrees to not stick out into garage so far.
There are also some true swivel mounts (I see a lot of praise for SteadyRack Classic), but I already had 3x of these on hand from an earlier purchase.
Highly recommend these lights when the time comes:
Barrina LED Shop Light Fixture 8ft, T8, 72W 9000lm 5000K, Clear Cover, V Shape, Daylight White, Tube Light, Hight Output, Bulbs for Garage, Warehouse, Plug and Play (Pack of 6)

Those 'bulbs' will put out a ton of light but it will all be in two spots. It will give you terrible glare when you look toward them, spots that are way too bright, and then spots that aren't lit at all because of shadows.
I'm putting my new shop together and I'm putting these in:
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07LGVGRT3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

I have twenty of them for my 30x40x10 shop and the plan is for ten 'in the field' and five down each side at an angle to add 'task light' and cut down any shadows. I think ten would be great lighting in your garage.
They're cheap and they feel super cheap but it's a nice bright white light and if any fail me I can buy more for peanuts.
Thanks for the details. Though I do believe Stalwart does not make them. There are several brands who I’ve seen use these same exact product. Stanley was the first to the market from what I saw, but who really knows. They all could be rebranded from some other brand.
They're actually these Stalwart branded organizers off Amazon. I have a price watch set, and all of the ones you see pictured I bought for about $25 for the set of 4. They only pop up for that price every so often on Amazon, so this is what I've accumulated after about 2 years of slowly buying them.
They're dimensionally the same as the Harbor Freight small parts organizers, but they're a little higher quality. At $25 for the 4 pack they're also cheaper than the Harbor Freight ones, except you have to buy them in the 4 pack, so I end up with more of the "deep" boxes than I really need. I've been trying to come up with more uses for the deep ones, I have about 5 empty ones right now.
But even at that price I have about $300 worth of those organizers in this picture. Each cabinet is about $200 worth of plywood at today's prices, plus I have probably $80 worth of Akro-Mils bins inside each cabinet. It takes a lot of time and money to be organized :-\.
Below are the ones I bought. They do just have a narrow slot, but they still fit onto the wall cleats https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EUEDQS/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&aaxitk=cYEUk40PXve0dwP7Ib0wKA&hsa_cr_id=5757769580201&pd_rd_plhdr=t&pd_rd_r=9a561bc0-ff56-474e-a457-fbbb4a60c516&pd_rd_w=6XWGR&pd_rd_wg=zyuyV&...
Same as my setup (2 car garage). I left the garage door lights stock. Changed my two bare bulbs into two deformable LED lights (https://www.amazon.com/LED-Garage-Ceiling-Light-Deformable/dp/B07BQV1CMY/) and the switch is on an occupancy sensor. So walking in and out of the house you can at least have bright LEDs. If you're OCD about all lights being the same temp, then you can change the garage door lights to similar temp LED bulbs.
Lastly I have 5 Barrina 8ft lights in a box & center pattern connected to a Kasa smart switch + Amazon Echo. When I need to do real work, I tell Alexa to turn on lights and BAM. You may have to splice additional power cables to daisy chain the lights in the pattern you like.
You don't want the shop lights to turn on every time someone walks through the garage, waste of power and blindingly bright at night. So I love having two regular light fixtures for that.
Lastly make sure you decide what color temp is best for your eyes then get all matching bulbs. 4000k, 5000k, or 6000k. Feel free to PM me for specific questions.
Going IN to the pressure washer (non-pressurized), I used this jumper hose, so the elbow was already built in. I then used a male-male garden hose adapter since that hose has a female end.
Going OUT of the pressure washer (pressurized), I used this elbow fitting along with a M22-14 to 3/8 FNPT adapter to connect to the pressure washer output.
I bought one of the starter kits almost 10 years ago. No regrets as it’s been trouble free. You do get a lot more air line than fittings annoyingly—so they get you on the backside when you piecemeal the rest of the parts.

My garage has a 1" lip to prevent this. The seal on the bottom is not going to be water tight. You should install a barrier like this.
At the risk of stating the obvious, if you don't want to run gas to your garage, electric or a propane heater are your only options. So I'm not really sure "is it worth it" is the right question.
In any case, I'm in a similar boat: just finished my ~1200sqft garage with no gas, with a home gym out there. I put up floor-to-ceiling curtains in an effort to isolate the gym from the rest of the garage and have less area to heat. I bought one of those $120 infrared heaters off Amazon (this one), and despite a bunch of good reviews, the thing does squat when it's 40deg in the garage. It's okay in a five-foot radius, but that's about it. IMO the way to go is a 240V heater with a fan; I don't have much confidence in anything less than that.
Thank you! It was lots of work, i couldn't find a concrete grinder to rent bc of covid so i ended up using a 6 inch diamond grinder, boy was that fun. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2XD7RI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 they work great, can slam an suv against them no worries and easier than fixing drywall.
Snowmobile dollies are very handy if he works on his own snowmobile
Otherwise, other handy things, good LED work light, power cable reel, shop towels, fire extinguisher, nitrile gloves, and pumice hand cleaner are a few ideas that aren't too expensive.
3d printed a battery cover for them that screws into the wood. You can download the files on Thingiverse, or just buy them on amazon.
I would hang the ladders/snowboard even if the ceilings are high using a ladder lift (Maybe above the garage doors considering the space is almost useless otherwise.) Maybe something like THIS . I would also recommend Costco for shelving, they seem to always have good options. I started with open shelving but now really try to look for closed units like storage lockers.
These are the Big Red jack stands with double lock from Amazon. I tried twice with Harbor Freight and unfortunately, both sets ended up getting recalled due to safety during that whole jack stand fiasco.

Even better, I use these.
https://www.amazon.com/Barrina-Daylight-Linkable-Warehouse-Workshop/dp/B07NZCXZK6
They were less expensive when I bought them. There's a switch on the side where you can select three different light colors. An eight pack would be overkill for a garage.
I like overkill when it comes to lighting. They're wonderful!
I have something similar to this and it really sucks. Whatever you end up doing, I'd avoid this style of pinching hooks.

Linkable LED Shop Light for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TM97LWY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I used these in my garage they're cheap, linkable, and brighter than they have any business being. I love them. Paired it with a gosund controller so I can have Alexa turn the lights on or do from my phone
I got these linkable lights from Amazon for my 3 car garage. Arranged 2 sets in 4 strips, incredibly bright now in my garage. They are super lightweight, you could arrange them along your rafters
Someone asked for plans. Handdrawn plans is the best I can do.
It's made from 3/4 sanded plywood. The cart is 2'Lx2'Wx4'H.
The side pieces' bottom is 2' wide and narrows to 1' at the top.
The shelves are spaced 8'' apart from the top. With the last shelf being 16'' from the bottom. This spacing is because most tools are about 8-10'' long.
The bottom shelf has a pre-cut hammer channel. Going from 1.25'' to 2''. This "channel design works really well.
The top and bottom are boxed in with 3'' walls.
I didn't list any width measurements for the shelves and walls because it depends on how you build the cart. I made 3/4'' grooves for all my structural pieces to fit into. Meaning my shelves were something like 23''. But the cart can be built in a simpler manner and that would change the width. I would screw and glue all pieces together for strength.
These are the caster wheels i used. 100~% worth the money. They're actually to good sometimes. They'll roll away without the brakes.
https://www.amazon.com/Casters-Caster-Wheels%EF%BC%8CCasters-Heavy-Duty/dp/B09L6JXJVK
The dewalt tool shelf is over built. If i did it again, I would use something like these tool and battery mounts and just mount the tools where convenient on the cart.

The square D part in the box is your magnetic contactor
that contactor should have a pair of wires that runs to your pressure switch that will be somewhere on the tank - usually a grey ~1.5-3" box
If you look at a magnetic starter box - you'll see that's exactly what you have in that box - https://smile.amazon.com/Magnetic-Electric-Starter-Single-Control/dp/B009W5XQMI
it looks like you generally have everything you need for that to run - feed it power, make sure the red piece at the bottom isn't popped and that your pressure switch is wired in and you should be set
I might be in the minority here but I prefer add-on smart plugs / openers / etc for something like a garage door opener. Tech companies are constantly coming and going. When they stick around it's still a crapshoot on whether they'll support whatever device you purchased from them in 3,5,10 years.
My garage door opener is a 20 year old craftsman. It's dumb as a brick and almost as reliable. I added on a Chamberlain / MyQ smart hub / opener thingy a few years ago for $30:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075H7Z5L8
It interfaces with the opener the same way as any normal remote does. It's been very reliable and if any of it stops working or isn't supported anymore, I won't have to get rid of the entire garage door opener, just a cheap and easily replaced aftermarket component.
I would use epoxy. Water and most chemicals won't bother it. Clear and self leveling. Going to be glossy unless you hit it with some scuff pads afterwards.
I think they posted this: https://www.amazon.com/Reflective-Garage-Insulation-Improved-Double/dp/B074LR5QF5
Fun fact most of the time the number after product/ is related to item. So in this case B074LR5QF5 can be searched and comes back as the part number for this product

I chose the frosted 4K temp lights, but this is the company.

That's the fucking "magic box" you cannot stop bitching about. Less than $20 and neccessary to run LED lights. Most have them built into the fixture nowadays but this type of configuration is not uncommon.
Its am electrical transformer to turn 120v AC power into 12 or 24v DC power that LEDs require.
Park outside until the car cools off then pull it in later. I realize that's not very practical but it would reduce some of the heat input.
BTW I made something like this and used a blower fan from an old furnace to power vent heat out of my garage. It's up in the attic to remove the hottest air first.

That type of thing. I bought mine at Costco and they're insanely bright. 9000 lumens per.
I bought these cheap led 4ft fixtures and I can’t say enough great things about them. I have 8 of them in my garage and it’s is extremely bright. They’re super light and east to mount, and I even had one fall off the ladder and hit the concrete floor while installing them with no damage. Highly recommend them.
Interesting to hear that, I wish literally just about to order a few more from them.
If you don't mind me asking what were the specific lights that you had problems with?
I have 20 of thesethese in my garage right now (end linked in 4 sets of 5 lights) with zero issues for a year now
My only complaint is that they make noise in the clips when they are first turn on as I'm assuming they are expanding a bit and moving.
I think you'll appreciate having the brightest lights you can get in there, or at least having a secondary set of additional lights when you're planning on working on something. I have my 2cg lit with 8 x 54w High Output T-5, 48" bulbs (4 of these) and while a number of people might not like something lit like a hospital operating room, it's great when you're working on something in there.
White ceiling with more lights, you never have enough lights.

How many light fixtures does your garage have?
Mine had 4 and I went with this cheaper option - DiCUNO 5 in 1 E26/E27 Socket Adapter, 5 Way Splitter E26/E27 Standard LED Bulbs Holder, Converter Chandelier Socket with 360 Degrees Adjustable 180 Degree Bending, Max Wattage 300W
4 of those + a box of Amazon LED bulbs turned my garage from 4 light bulbs to 20. I think I only changed like 3-4 bulbs over the past 3 years.
The different was night and day (pun intended).

I bought some stud boards and mounted them horizontally across all the studs in the wall so I could put the racks up. The racks are these Hyloft racks from Amazon.
The Subie wheels are just mounted to the studs which is somewhat limiting. I'm planning on putting boards on the other wall and mounting the Subie wheel rack and another there so I have the option of putting tires up while I'm working on a car.

Cross posted from r/budgetaudiophile. I have been using google home for music and a set of PC speakers for the TV. It was pretty lame, so this weekend I dug some of my stuff out of storage and put this conglomeration together, all from stuff I already owned. The receiver is a pre-hdmi 5.1 Pioneer from the early 2000’s. The Bose 301’s were my surrounds long ago, and the center is from a Sony box surround sound kit. I added a bluetooth receiver to the Pioneer (which is awesome.) The TV is a Walmart special Sanyo with a Roku that mates up with Xfinity cable for the channels, On Demand content, YouTube and streaming TV. Overall I am pleased with how it all works and sounds. For any interested, this is the bluetooth receiver: https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Playtime/dp/B07JJCZ3WL/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1I4UWH6U942PP&keywords=avantree+bluetooth+receiver&qid=1637630036&sprefix=Avantee+bluetooth+receiver%2Caps%2C174&sr=8-4

Don’t buy a corncob light, you want even lighting in a workspace. Corncobs and many other options will lead to shadows and hotspots, neither makes for a very nice experience when trying to work on something. These mimic fluorescent lights but less draw and no ballast.

Best option would be something that somehow directs warm air into your car. That way you’re not heating your whole (poorly insulated) garage.
Even if you put something on a timer to heat - say 2 hours before you get out there you may find your seats very cold when you actually settle into them. I suspect you’ll be trying to decide between lower electricity costs and a cold car interior.
I think you should find something to blow warm air into your car for an hour or two before you leave in the morning.

You can get wifi-controlled outlet plugs. If you aren't very technical, they might be a headache to set up, but I use them for many things in my house, including my bedroom fan, garage heater, christmas lights, etc.
You could set it to turn on and blast some heat starting at like 3am or something. Honestly, anything you use to heat up the garage, there will be a risk of fire. In my opinion, an electric heater is actually the safest - especially if it's on concrete or dirt with some space between it and anything else flammable.
Nope not the original. Originally it was just 3 separate sockets with 1 light bulb in each. Here is a link to what I used - (Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K (Super Bright White), 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, Corded Electric with Built-in ON/Off Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HBT3BVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_3T0TGYFEV2K11PADFH6C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The one I linked earlier have a sensor that would tell you if the garage door is open or closed. The one I bought is below. I like the hard shell that cover electrical board. Just unscrew and attach any low voltage wire in. You can use a 12 volts wall adapter and cut / strip it 1/4”. Setup the switch using EWELINk app. Enable EWELINK skill in alexa, and setup at routine to open / close door with alexa.

When you say Gladiator do you mean something like this:

Nice mechanical switch. There is WiFi switch option that you can add two wire to the back of motor and it will simulate a press of the button. I have added on to my older garage motor and now can open via Alexa or phone app.

Its your standard foam gym flooring. I got it here. It makes the shop a little less loud and helps if I drop something fragile or one of my 3d printers decides it would like to throw its glass print bed on the floor...
Nothing special, just a cheap ceiling mount I could find: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001KPILLE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Unfortunately I didn't have a joist centered over the window so I have to throw up a 2x6 and hook into that.
Hey, I answered up top, but I don't mind copy pasting down here:

It's surprisingly sturdy. You can adjust the height which is good when my boys want to have a go at it. It also can swing out of the way if you remove the adjustment knobs in case you're bringing a car in. Only problem is the top lock nut on the hanger needs a bit of threadlocker on it, it slowly loosens and the bag dropped once before I did that.
Overall I've been happy with it

Would these be good? With 4 feet I can do each side between the garage door opener and the lights already there, helping to keep some symmetry.
I’m torn between led shop likes like this (open to suggestions) or a 2ft by 4ft led light on either side of the garage openers. So it’d be 6 lights total, with each on positioned between the garage openers and the existing lights. Garage is 25x35x11, so a low ceiling, not sure how much that would change what lights I end up getting but I think ones that don’t have enough flood to them might cast too many shadows?

I forget how I found it about them, but they're surprisingly cheap.
These are the ones I bought
Agreed, here's the kit from amazon, there maybe cheaper alternatives. Underneath this one I just used some foam insulation board from my home center, and those were much cheaper if not as pleasing to the eye.

I have these in my garage, with 10' ceilings. Plenty of light. I might add 2 more before drywall goes up. But for now they are plenty of light.
There are hoists and lifting systems designed to be used with Unistrut. You basically mount the unistrut to the ceiling where you want the hoist to slide, and install these slides into the strut. And then you can mount pullies or hoists or whatever to the slides.
I don't have any direct experience with these, so I can't make direct recommendations, but do some searches for "unistrut hoist system" or whathave you and you'll find some ideas. They're usually rated for something like 200-400 pounds, so they'll very safely lift wheels.
You could try installing a small electric hoist like this one on the ceiling above the rack. If you mount it across 2 joists it should be fine. I don't know how well it would work out for all 4 wheels, you might have to move it from one side to the other on multiple mounting points or something.
The orange hooks are called S-hooks and they use the weight of the tool against the grippy orange material to keep the tool held. The bottom of the “S” presses the tool handle against the top of the “S”. Here’s the Amazon link to them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GS2ZV8F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ARX0W5E2YPDG78H425K2
They work really well. They’re meant to be mounted directly to a wall, so they come with fasteners and anchors for drywall and concrete. For my application, I used #8 1/2” screws to mount them to the face of a piece of plywood. As long as the tool you’re wanting to hold isn’t too heavy, this setup will work fine.
Yes,I think the vertical bike holder setup saves space and highly cost effective. Hang bike from ceiling ,Free up floor space...

Thanks for the tip in the door opener. I’ll look into that but likely used what I got until it breaks.
Most of my lighting comes from LED light tubes that are mounted to the top of the rafters. I got them on Amazon. Super cheap. Hope they last.
(Pack of 8) Barrina LED T5... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DNPL2VC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Its a Huot drill dispenser box. They're a little pricey, but they're great. I much prefer having my bits in there rather than a dozen half broken plastic cases.
I can't recommend these lights enough I have 8 of them in my garage and it is incredibly bright. I even dropped one from ten feet while it was on when I was installing it and it didn't even flicker still works perfect. For less then $14 each its an amazing deal.
I got one of these electric heaters for my 2 car garage. It works great for our milder VA winters. I think it would be pretty expensive to run in a colder climate.
I bought this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076FNKBTQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It heats my 2 car garage with 10’ ceilings nicely and has a remote for setting temp. I understand that electric is an expensive way to go, but I use it primarily on weekends and I appreciate the convenience. The niggle with it is the thermostat is not accurate as the sensor is in the unit and reads high. Not a big deal. I just keep it set to 79 to heat my space to 68.
