I bought these from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JGW2JKF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They literally taste like candy and I always want to eat more than 2 a day.
Yes I had this happen too. I think it started happening after I was focusing on getting so much protein in. This helps me keep it bay. I would walk up with massive toes and the top of my foot would hurt so bad I couldn’t walk.
I had the same issue. I started to use Isopure Infusions, Refreshingly... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F4K1XF3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share in my water and that has helped. I was also drinking brodo bone broth which has 27grams per 22oz. Tomorrow I’m going to try my protein shake mix from my surgeon again with water to see if i can tolerate it now. Pre-op Premier Protein was my best friend. Post surgery is a no go. I tested again last week and still could t get through it. I’m three weeks post-op.
I like these chews, they each have 500mg of Calcium Citrate. The fruit ones remind me of laffy taffy while the Carmel ones taste like…well, carmel.

And
The only supplement I take that is on your list is Iron. My doctor recommended these
I take one per day in the morning. They taste pretty good, kind of like a knock-off Starburst, with the same consistency of a Starburst.
I hate to break this to you but as I read your post my thoughts instantly turned to suppositories. I did not know they even existed until I had my first baby (caesarian section) and they gave me a pain killer using that method. TMI- sorry.
So you could try this for your stool issue. You could ask a nurse/doctor for a pain relief suppository - sometimes they come with an applicator or you can get those separately. No worse than a tampon, right? :)
Try Fairlife Nutrition Plan protein shakes, and if you need fiber/ something to chew on, Wasa crackers.
A lot of the "protein" or "meal replacement" shakes dont have enough fiber or protein to keep you satisfied. My wife and I love these products and they've worked well for us post op.
Since my surgery, I'm living on Gatorade Zero, Protein2O water, diet snapple (noni juice, not tea) and Ocean Spray diet cranberry juice mixes (5 cal per 8 oz, I prefer cran-grape and cran-pineapple but there's like 7 different blends). Oh, and Hint water is amazing.
I also hate Crystal Light, but there are other water "enhancers" that are much better. The liquids generally have a better taste than the powders. I happen to love the little Crush strawberry squirt bottles. And I see they just came out with the pineapple, too! Used to be only the powdered ones. I just ordered some, I can't wait, I love pineapple Crush! https://www.amazon.com/Crush-Parent-Pineapple/dp/B081B5BYSZ/

Drink loads of water.
I hope this helps.
Make sure to have as many blender bottles as daily shakes you have to drink. Have a few flavors of Gatorade/Powerade Zero on hand (it’s good to drink that instead of water in the immediate postop period acc to my surgeon at least). Set up your command center with all the remotes and some blankets you can put on and remove as needed. Charge up your kindle. Call in all your medicines before surgery and pick them up. Make sure you have Tylenol on hand. I had a phone holder that I set up for myself, which was awesome. It’s currently on a Black Friday sale.
They both are whey protien (sorry for the confusion) but there is ones for milk and ones for clear protien.
Here is a link for the one I have that I like:
Here it is. I also have some Bariatric Advantage calcium chews in caramel flavor. They were way more expensive and only contained 500mg of calcium compared to Caltrate's 600mg. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IY03L8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You know works for me - for my calcium, I eat the Adora chocolate suppliments. They are delicious and feel like you are just eating candy. My doctor approved them for me and I take 3 a day so it helps with my craving. Not sure if it would be a cheaper way to solve your sweet tooth! Plus you get 3 a day haha - or well on my plan it's 3 a day.
Seconding Unjury. I’ve never been able to stomach ready made shakes but make my own El each morning with a scope of unflavoured Unjury and a glass of Fairlife low fat chocolate milk. You do still want to mix it well - I have one of these for that: ULTRA HIGH SPEED MOTOR 19,000 RPM... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QM4JSYK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I bought two of these, I have one in the kitchen at home and one in my office at work. They’ve been great for me.
Also, what is a 4/6 rule?
I've been using this scale for about 2 years and have no complaints. At my highest I was just under 340, but it's rated to 400lbs
Also bought small bags that are full of gel so they’re their own ice packs
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08B5Q5KFG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Liquid Collagen and Biotin- I use this. It's not the best tasting, BUT it's WAY more tolerable compared to the Barimelts tablets which are actual garbage.
I'll try to not be crude, but we've had THIS bidet on our toilets for years now and one of the surprise benefits is when you have to push to get something out, you can just let the bidet spray on the poop to water it down and break it up and there you "go"
I know, gross, but it works most of the time.
I’ve bought a bunch of these. They have been great for this whole journey. This one gets me tons of compliments. I do live in Florida so this is realistic almost year round. But I cant recommend kaftans enough! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09R978PM3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
My surgeon said that gummies were a poor choice because the format makes it nearly impossible to include enough of certain vitamins and minerals that bariatric patients require. Let's take thiamine as an example. ASMBS guidelines are at least 12mg of supplemental thiamine a day. The best gummy I can find on Amazon has 10mg of thiamine in a serving, and a number of other "bariatric" gummies there are missing thiamine and other ASMBS-recommended vitamins and minerals entirely.
I took Bariatric Fusion chewables for many years. About a year ago I switched to Bariatric Fusion's soft chew multivitamin. This one specifically: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JGFHQ5P
The chewables started making me sick suddenly after almost 7 years, prompting the switch. The texture is identical to their calcium chews but with a strong vitamin taste.
>I can understand that for the bypass where malabsorption is an issue but why for the sleeve?
Very good question because it's an important point to understand imo. You'll never be able to eat a normal fully nourishing diet. Many years post-op it will feel like you're eating a fairly normal diet, but you always need to prioritize protein and you're always going to eat very small portions. Without daily vitamins you're bound to eventually become malnourished.

Can’t reccomend this enough for your pre-op. Tastes like Ramen noodles and youll want old farmiliar while on that diet!! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PQTJMF4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share You WILL make it through the pre-op diet. You’re doing great with the walking! I say go for the exercise bike too. I have an exercise bike I love, it folds up and goes in the coat closet and I bring it out when I watch tv. I recommend it!! I used these. The link is to amazon, but I can also find these in a local grocery store, Sprouts. My doctor was fine with them pre and post op. The capsule is veggie based so it's not harsh on the stomach and easily digested. Initially, I would take two (dose is 4) capsules and then about 20 mins later take two more. They also didn't make me nauseated. I guess in theory, if you don't like the idea of swallowing a pill in general, you could break them up and maybe stir it into some hot lemon water/tea?
18 months out, haven't lost any hair -- but I'm serious & committed about protein intake.
Can't answer hospital questions; had a hotel / destination type thing. No tats. Yet.

Everyone's chest is different; one gal I know stayed the same size, I've lost a few sizes but I was top-heavy to start with.
Hope that helps! ;)
Scales should generally produce the same number in the same exact conditions. Perhaps the clothes you weighed in at home were just heavier than the clothes you wore to the doctor? And it might be weird, but even just using the bathroom can make you lose up to like 2-3lbs so that could play into it. As well as sweating. Usually, the biggest difference in terms of scales (minus looks) is how much they can weigh up to. I THINK the average scale weighs up to about 350lbs, and to get one that weighs up to 400lbs, 500lbs, etc, will cost more as you go up.
I think as long as there isn't any huge difference in weight on both scales, it should be fine. If you're worried, you can ask your doctor.
The scale I use is similar to this, though I can't find the exact one because it's a bit over 5 years old. It comes close to the scale in my doctor's off and I haven't noticed any issues if you do want to try a new scale. There are different brands and prices you can search through and check out the reviews.
I was a big fan of Isopure, but this stuff mixes WAY better and is far cheaper (.72 an ounce compared with $2.42 per ounce for Isopure.
It's also made by a family owned company in the US.

Costco & Gatorade make a water that has protein (whey) added to it. It’s pretty good and a nice change from a shake. 10g - 12g protein in the water.
I'm using these for scars but I'm only 7 weeks out and started using them last week so not sure if they work yet.
I have not had a full unhealthy meal yet but I did have two bites of pizza yesterday and that was enough. I had to force myself to finish my protein and water the rest of the day. I definitely did this too early but I'm trying to find balance because if I restrict too much I'm afraid I'll binge and if I overdo it I'll go down a slippery slope.
My program has you on each phase for 3 weeks so I'm in soft foods right now.

I ordered this one and while I just started soft foods, I’ve made a few so far and am really pleased with the flavour and ease of recipe. I hope you find something that works for you!
Definitely recommend reading and doing this book. It really helped me address my issues of why I overate and my addiction to sugar. Therapy is always a good start too. Surgery has helped a lot and now that I understand why I did those things, I want to make sure I do the right things to keep the weight off.

Have you tried protein water? Protein 20 has a great tropical coconut flavor that tastes like Bai5. You can get it on Amazon similar to Gatorade and doesn't taste like a protein shake. I get the ones with electrolytes but not caffeine since I'm not allowed caffeine yet. The few flavors I've had have been delicious.
You can also buy protein soup from unjury I personally haven't had this but a family member lived on it for 3 months.
This is a temporary feeling and mostly head hunger. After day 3 when my nausea subsided I was miserable and hungry. I did clear liquids for 4 days then protein liquids for 3 weeks (I finish that this week and start pureed foods). The first week I really felt like I couldn't do this at all, I was starving. But once I started drinking more fluids and having protein water to replace one of my two shakes, I felt better. I also feel really weak if I'm not getting in my protein.
That being said, I still have days where I feel like I'm starving. It's part of the process and I'm considering a therapist to help with my food addiction issues. If I were to actually eat everything I wanted, there would be tons of restriction. The pouch isn't really meant to restrict liquids. The mental battle has been much harder for me than any physical aspect.
I promise you this is the absolute hardest part of this process. I got this broth that tastes exactly like chicken ramen noodles and it gave me like comfort food and made me feel so much better. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PQTJMF4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Love me some cold brew. Plus I make it at home in a designated jug like this and have cold brew on tap for like $8 a gallon.
Sip sip sip your fluids! Maybe even make some otter pops with pedialyte or nuun or liquid IV with these. They hold 3-4oz and are great if you tend to forget to sip all the time.
Those bags are also great for making some protein/fruit smoothies for after surgery. just let them thaw a little and squish them to make a perfectly portioned smoothie pop.
Get a family member to make a half recipe of your favorite lean chili and blend it with some bone broth for the purée stage. Freeze it into ice cubes.
I got the Premier Protein variety pack and had a lot of fun trying all the different flavors Amazon Link also it’s kind of a consensus that the Fairlife Protein (30 grams) Chocolate is really good. It’s not overly sweet and tastes like chocolate milk.

I basically tell my inner saboteur to fuck off, it won't have its way. I had all kinds of therapy and such for BED. It never really helped. This free Kindle book helped me realize that I am so much more powerful than the primitive part of my brain I used to allow to tell me to binge or eat crap.
Thank you!! I’m sure you know this but in case you don’t, sometimes our brains get confused between thirst and hunger. So, if you’re a little dehydrated your brain might send you that message but it feels a lot like hunger. Try increasing water a little (I highly recommend some flavor packets, I’m currently waiting on skittles flavored water packets). Vitamins made specifically for hair will help some but the most benefit is to continually take them. I started taking these (Zhou Hairfluence | Premium Hair Growth Formula for Longer, Stronger, Healthier Hair | Biotin, Collagen, Keratin, B Vitamins, Bamboo Extract | for All Hair Types | 60 VegCaps https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015QFMNZI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MKGMNZNB0TEQ75SEDER6) several years ago and continue to take them post op. They have serious helped with the shedding. I am just now seeing some shedding, VSG on 1/5/22. I take two of these a day plus my multivitamin. I wasn’t having any problems until my family doctor told me to cut back on the B vitamins bc of blood work results. So I was cutting back for one week until I met with my surgeon for my 3 month post op and he said to keep taking everything. I have heard it can last up to 6 months but we are all different as well. Best of luck!
I really really like this idea! Also I picked up this water jug that holds 64 oz so that I fill it in the morning and make sure I finish it by the evening
I'm a singleton too, almost 4 years post surgery.
I got some containers (similar to this) and whenever I make soup, I freeze it in these little molds. When they are frozen, I pop them out and put them in a ziplock bag and keep them in the freezer. It's easy to pull one out of the freezer and warm it up in the microwave, and it's already a perfect portion.
I also use little loaf pans (similar to this) whenever I made a casserole or anything that you would bake in the oven. I freeze it in these portions, and when I want it, I can just throw it in the oven and have it once and have left overs.
It can get expensive to buy meats in smaller packages, so I usually buy the larger pack and divide them up into freezer bags and freeze. Easy to pull out just one chicken breast or 1/2 lbs of ground meat for a meal without feeling like I'm waiting. (I usually try to freeze in a zip lock bag and lay the bag as flat as possible, to reduce thawing time.).
Looking forward to hearing everyone else's tips and tricks!
Everything this person said to the T, and… in addition to the comfy large robe (which can also be used as an additional blanket because hospitals are cold and their blankets suck) I wore a long cotton nightgown. Bypass was my first option. I figured it would force me to do more than a sleeve would.
Don't stress about stretching out your sleeve. A few meals isn't going to do that; stretching only really occurs if you're constantly eating more than you need to. Hi hi!

I'm starting week 3 post-op now and I'm in the puree stage.
Any sugar free electrolyte drink. When I get worried about fluid intake I mix half a bottle with half water to give me a step up. Tea bags. Tea makes it easier for me to drink water (if your stomach isnt a huge fan of water after the op. Mine isn't feeling cold water)
Protein drinks if you hate powder. Hear there is protein water as well but I haven't tried it.
Yogurt. Baby food jars and pouches. Frozen steamable broccoli and cauliflower (for when youre allowed).
Chicken/Beef stock and broth. Crystal light packets. A lunchbox!

I'm six months out and still struggling with an exercise habit. I'm very active at work but by the time I get home I'm worn out. I'm also 63 and wonder if age is playing a part. Anyway, exercise has been a hard habit for me to develop. When I walk it's usually 2 miles. Some weeks I go five days, some weeks I don't go at all.
I found a book I'm going to listen to on the drive to work Atomic Habits by James Clear. It has good reviews, so I'm hoping it will offer some advice I can build on. It might be interesting for you, too.
I used these Benefiber chewables and they worked really great for me. For the first month or so I was also using Miralax daily.

I use this one. Kind of silly of them not to allow gummies. I've got a multivitamin and my vitamin D in gummy form, then this calcium in chewables. It makes me look forward to downing six different things in a day instead of dreading taking so many pills.
This blender is what I use. I bought it second hand and bought two more blades when I moved because I thought I lost mine. Again it was second hand but mine came with like 10 bottles - 5 blue and 5 pink. I may sell those and get green ones though now that I know!
Same… but I tent to reach for the 4oz size more….. it’s perfect for tuna or chicken salad or a small portion of leftovers for lunch.

I bought 4 oz glass babyfood containers from Amazon, so I make batches of chili or lentils and freeze some. Then I make up little baggies of 3 triscuits, baggies of nuts, baggies of fruit or veg, then turkey and cheese. I keep hardboiled eggs on hand for snacks or breakfast.
The trick for me is having it ready the night before because I leave for work super early and just want to grab and go. I have a cloth lunch bag that I set out the night before with my daily vitamin box and a shake. Then in the morning I just grab whatever I was planning.
If I have a bad morning or forget my bag, I stop at Starbucks and get egg white egg bites for breakfast (I can usually eat 1 1/2) and the grilled chicken hummus box to nosh on throughout the day (I immediately throw out the pitas and replace them with triscuits bc they are whole grain).

Thank you! Oh for tracking I just use a Renpho Smart scale I got off Amazon and this is just the app that comes with it. I was so excited I out a bunch of stickers on it haha. I’m sure there’s others out there like this but I really like this one because it gives me all that extra data and let’s me track my measurements and see my trends but it’s cheaper than the fancy ones lol. They also have a smart tape measure that works with it. I think they actually sell them as a set too for cheaper than buying them individually?
I take this one, but I was looking for something that was vegetarian and relatively low in iron.
https://smile.amazon.com/NATURELO-Bariatric-Multivitamin-Supplement-Nutrition/dp/B087ZQ82TR/
Before that, I tried Celebrate One. It has more iron, but isn't vegetarian. I found lots of vegetarian options on Amazon that had more iron, if vegetarian matters to you, but I didn't try them.
I bought this cookbook and it helped a lot. It designates which stage each recipe fits (liquids, soft, puréed, etc).
The Gastric Sleeve Bariatric Cookbook: Easy Meal Plans and Recipes to Eat Well & Keep the Weight Off https://www.amazon.com/dp/1939754704/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_M55X2W643H98GTPA41EG
I also subscribed to Bariatric Food Coach for a few months. TONS of recipes from a Bariatric dietician and she will personally respond to your emails if you subscribe. It was great.
Pero is a good, natural coffee alternative. The flavor is rich and similar to coffee, but without the caffeine or acid that comes with coffee. Walmart carries it, as well.
My hair stylist said Surface Awaken is great for hair loss or hair thinning. She cautioned that it is harsh on color, though (for example, it will make hair dyed blonde appear a little brassy).
If you're going to go that long without smoking anyway, why don't you just go ahead and quit?
If you can get a hold of a Nintendo DS, this software is supposed to be the best..
DS's are at their lowest point in value, too new to be collectible, too old to still be in demand. Finding one at a yard sale or a smaller game store other than GameStop shouldn't let you one for probably around 10-15 bucks.
They're probably apps too, I've heard people rave about this particular game to help them stop smoking.
I have this treadmill: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0L0D90/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I really like it. It's a great treadmill for the price. However, it doesn't fold flat against the floor like you wanted. It folds up, and the frame at the bottom remains on the floor and sticks out a couple of feet, so the footprint is not as small as you might want. Folding it is easy, but it's also heavy and not super easy to move around; you kind of have to push it like a wheelbarrow which is awkward if you're a smallish woman like me. But I was able to assemble it alone and I can move it alone when I need to.
I wore one for about two weeks after. I would not have been able to get my walking in without it. It helped so much. I got this one off Amazon. My hospital also sent me home with one, but it was tiny so I have to put two together which was annoying. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G4NMDTY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GCWKKE0SKYGNRWZ1X5CB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I got this one:

It helped with the post-surgical pain when it hurt to walk or jostle my belly at all. I didn't use it that much, though.
That's so exciting! I remember how excited I was when I got my date, I cried to the scheduling woman. I recently created a blog to help share my story with other newbies (my surgery was in November 2019) and to discuss some of the things that I found most challenging. Hopefully you find it helpful :)
Whatever you decide on, get an organizer! My favorite one is like this and I swear it's the only reason I'm religious with my vitamins. Makes it so easy. Rainbow organizer 30 Days
Thanks. I drank 3 ounces of pickle juice and took ibuprofen last night. Only 1 Charlie horse, not multiple. I am desperate so I finally broke down and ordered this today:

WDIRARA Women's Stretchy Plaid... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RRLTJB8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It looks like the app FITINDEX which connects to a scale and a body tape measure. I love them. If it’s not that app it looks really similar
You can do this!!

This might sound kooky, but I wonder if a pregnancy pillow might be helpful for you in sleeping on your side? My kid is 2 years old and I still use mine because of how well it helps me with my sciatica when it flares up. I plan on using it for sure after my surgery next month to give me extra support while sleeping on my side! I have this one.

These are the best.
I bought these (obviously boob-specific, but you could cut them or they probably make other shapes). They lasted about a month each--you can kinda wash them off and re-stick them.
