Android auto was released in 2015. The car has no idea what the hell you’re plugging into it. I use this in my 2012 fit plugged into the aux 3.5 mm jack and powered from the USB port in the glove box.
Hey guys!
Here's the info if you're looking to do this yourself. I used this tutorial from ChrisFix as a template. He posts a product list in the description for all materials, and the only change I made was buying this 3528 LED strip. The one used in the video was 5630 strip, which I thought would be way too bright for a dark camp setting.
I didn't take a lot of progress pics, but I'll link an album with more in-depth info about what I did.
***Big heads up though: I did drill 2 holes in the steel of the car. Don't let that intimidate you though. It's a pretty straight forward process
The advice and steps provided to change the fluid are spot on. For a 2015+ Fit, the correct fluid is:

Can be bought at Amazon (but may be found cheaper else where): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BFDFIO4
Genuine Honda 08200-HCF2 Fluid Hcf-2

I'm heading out on a hiking trip for a week, and I wanted to have a little clearance in the Fit for bad forest roads.
I bought front shock spacers from amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CCZMPFD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And got some 2011 Honda Insight springs from a junk yard on ebay.
Tools that I bought that I didn't need - spring compressors. Thought I would need those to get the springs replaced, but no.
Tools that I bought because I needed them: Step countersink bit to enlarge the front shock plate to 18mm. I got it at a local hardware store, but it's essentially one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Drill-Titanium-Coated-Cutter-4-22mm/dp/B07H56PZ5W/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=metal+step+bit+22mm&qid=1600570693&sr=8-6
Also tore open my thumb using it so put the plate in a vice or clamp it to a piece of wood to hold. Wear gloves
Also needed some red loctite for the extension bolt of the spacer.
Tools that I had and really used: socket set, and a socket set with a hollow center so a hex wrench could go through to hold the bolt from turning. Needed that on the front strut top bolt, and one other.
Jackstands, obv. Hydraulic floor jack - really used it a lot to help position the heavy rotor assembly, and to keep the axle from falling out of the transmission (again).
Tools that I didn't have but wish I did.
Impact driver, for sure. A taller floor jack (really could have lifted the car higher). A ratchet box wrench set would have been nice. hex driver bits? The hex bolts under the front windshield were in an awkward position.
Did the kits have a UV sealer? I used this kit and my headlights have stayed clear.
I got good results by taping off the surrounding areas and doubling the sanding times that the instructions recommend.

This one I believe is the one someone mentioned and said fit perfectly.

Got it from Amazon. I must have ordered it before I fell asleep since it surprised me when it came in two days later. Installation is straight forward, uses legit 3m tape. I just unscrewed the original antenna and screwed this one in. Was too lazy to really measure to make sure it's on there evenly, I just kind of eyed it. Haven't had any lack of reception so far but I love how it looks.
I have 2011 Honda Fit, so I'm not sure if you have the old style radio or the one with the screen. Mine is the old style radio.
This is not exactly a direct answer, but rather another option for Bluetooth that's far less expensive...
I just bought a Bluetooth receiver (this one) that plugs into the aux port and it works just fine. They also sell Bluetooth FM transmitters (like this one), but I went with the former since I can use that one on my older home entertainment surround system and ghetto blaster since I'm old school.
I use this and it works perfectly. Sorry you have to buy another accessory for easy connection. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018E0I01I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_BSK4RPFDBQE82JM09JRB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Philips 9003 CrystalVision Ultra Upgrade Bright White Headlight Bulb, 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SQU0YG6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_PaVMBb8KQ7P66
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this:
I didn't want to spend much, but these look pretty badass. I don't usually have more than 1 passenger so I'm just buying the front row, $200ish.
Nope. But I use a HUD that plugs in to the OBD2 Head-up Display, DAGOOD 5.5'' 5-Color Windshield Screen Display A8 Car HUD Head up Display for Car to Display a Huge Range of Car Statistics with OBDII or EUOBD
Easiest way would be a wire to ground. The voltage can be pretty high. If you get zapped it's painful but not life threatening. You could hold the plug against a ground while someone else cranks. I'd wear gloves. They sell special spark plug simulators
https://www.amazon.com/OTC-6589-Electronic-Ignition-Tester/dp/B0050SFVO2/
That would make it easier. Mechanics probably have one or something like it.
Without a good ground, the coil pack can put out too much voltage which is what can pop them. The plug gap actually limits how high the voltage goes.
It’s pretty easy to swap out the lights. I like this style. My taillights are from this company.
Just use something dull when prying the light covers to prevent damage to the ceiling or covers themselves. You’ll only need 2 for the map lights, 1 for the rear row and 1 for the trunk. Lmk if you need anything else!
I bought this one. Very good fit, looks great. I'll take a couple pictures after work so you can see.
You might have to double up the adhesive if it wiggles, but mine works fine on my LHD car. I don’t really look at my phone, it just hangs out there, I routed a cable under the steering wheel to plug it in. I mostly use the stereo screen in the middle, and voice controls. If you’re used to stuff on the right side, there’s variations of this:
https://www.amazon.ca/Holder-Dashboard-Adjustable-Samsung-Smartphone/dp/B07MXWWLYD
And also the universal adhesive based ones
That looks more like a plastic rivet than a bolt hole.
https://www.amazon.com/AFA-Tooling-Replacement-91503-SZ3-003-Selected/dp/B00SRZNIIG/
Something like this. What does it look like on the other side? Honda uses a bunch of different sizes for their rivets so, you might want to measure an existing one.
Just to be clear, I was referring to the bulbs themselves.
On my first gen, the fogs were pretty easy, just one screw and some finagling to release the wiring clip. The headlights were tricky, but not crazy. Just a matter of removing a couple wheel well screws and pulling it back to reach the rear of the housing. It was all blind, but not impossible.
As far as cost, they were about $35/pair for the ones I choose, but they’re more spendy than needed.
I have this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012NA9KMI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm not sure if the 2016 still has a CD player though.
For driver's side cup holder, I got the WeatherTech one for a family member and they love it.
I use this lumbar support pillow and it works great for me. Very good cushion. I have used a cheaper mesh support thing before-- it was not as good, but not bad either.
Thanks for the help! Ive already done most of my bulbs in led. Just my turn signals were the last ones to change. Rears I have are here Red led behind a red light housing makes them super bright. Just with these got me my hyper flash. I kinda don't mind it but Honda has their quick signal thing where you tap it down and your light flashes 3 times. It still is 3 flashes but it's super quick. These are my front turn signals (I haven't received these yet) here
agreed - just search for "double din car stereo" on amazon / best buy / other electronics websites. then buy a part like this to cover the dash: https://www.amazon.com/Metra-2009-Double-Install-Silver/dp/B00EDUHKEC
I haven’t used a full kit but I bought this off of Amazon that did a good enough of cleaning the headlights for how easy it was to apply. Lasted about 3 months and now I have to do it again but it only takes a few minutes.
Code readers aren't that expensive. I'd keep one in the car and read the code when it shows up.
https://www.amazon.com/Autel-AutoLink-AL319-Scanner-Automotive/dp/B007XE8C74/
Fog lights could definitely shine wider but are still a good upgrade especially since one wasn't working before.
Right side head light was a bit of a pain to swap out since the tank for windshield wiper fluid is right behind the headlight assembly. Left side was super easy to spot since there was nothing in the way.
The round rubber piece in both head lights hold the LED lights in just fine since there is no way to screw them in or clip them in.
I had to take off the round piece from the LED light, put the light through the rubber piece and then put the plastic piece back in that way the light and rubber piece were stuck together. Everything holds in just find after that!
Someone posted a mattress on this sub once that they said fits perfectly in the back of a fit. Let me see if I can find a link, I think I saved it on my Amazon list.
Also, definitely scroll through this sub, there's been a lot of posts about successful fit camping.

Yeah you're correct, fan only working on 4 is the resistor (which I understand isn't your problem). I'd check the blower motor next. It's only 3 screws. Pull it out and see if it spins freely. If you give it a spin and it feels like the bearings are lubricated with peanut butter, then I'd replace it. That's what happened to mine. This could cause a resistor to fail prematurely so I'd check that again, too.
The bummer is you cannot service the blower motor. Replacements are in the ballpark of $450 for genuine Honda part and ~$55 for aftermarket (Amazon). I got mine at a junkyard. The only Fit in the yard was stripped pretty good but I lucked out and it had a good working blower motor and resistor. Only cost me $30 for both.
BTW, since the space is pretty cramped, this screwdriver makes pulling these parts a little easier.
Hope this helps!
I think the solder melting thing is related to the resistor. The blower motor, from my experience, seems to be a bearing issue. Unfortunately, they aren't serviceable but the good news is they are easy to replace.
You can get a replacement after-market blower motor for ~$55 on Amazon or cheaper if you can find one at a junkyard (which is what I did).
I think the local Honda dealer wanted something like $175 including some kind of installation (drilling a hole in the top for it to hang off?). Hoping there is a cheap chinese knockoff one I can find - it's just a piece of plastic! lol
Edit: Found one for less than $90

I order it on Amazon because it cost less. I posted pictures in the reviews: https://www.amazon.com/Yokohama-Ascend-Touring-Radial-Tire-185/dp/B07FB1CDPB You save $22.17 for each tire.
Anything in the "ceramic nano coating" category will work. I just got it off amazon and used it after seeing it in a video by ChrisFix (the $500 SUV paint restoration video). Here is a link to a similar product. Any of those one-bottle ceramic coatings should be fine, though. Shop around a bit and don't pay more than $30. It's also good as a final coat for restoring headlights!
There's a YouTuber who ran in to the same issue. Here is a link to the video where he finds out what the smell of cat urine/ammonia was in his used Maserati (meth!). I think there's a follow up video where he takes it to a detailer that bombs the smell out over a few days. I wouldn't take it to a dealer. I used these to get the smoke smell out of my used Fit. If something like that doesn't get you far enough, just go to a professional detailer. Good luck!
two mode on the pillar lamp. dimmer one as tail light, brighter as brake.
on US amazon comment, someone rewire it to function as turn light/blinker. so you can rewire it to signal/blinker. just choose which mode you want and wire the cable accordingly.
you need a big one or it wont stay put. i believe this is the one im currently using.

Just go to the gym and find a big boi to do it for you 🤣
Jokes aside, depending on the weight of the snowblower, you could get something like this.
Huh, weird. I got one for my S5 and it works perfectly on my GK 🤷♂️
Sure! Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BQVCC9J/
They just plug into your cigarette lighter receptacle (I use the one in the console).
I personally got one from aliexpress but they are all basically the same.
I paid $150 for the actual part (everything I needed, wires and stuff) was included, and I installed it myself (1-2hrs not having prior experience). Most annoying thing was unscrewing and taking clips off the original unit, and attaching the new one was very intuitive after, didn't follow instructions and got everything working correctly. It has an included GPS sensor thing, connection to antenna, and a spot to wire up a back up camera that will automatically turn on when you go into reverse. Installing that is more work and probably another $40, but might be worth it. I'm including a link to the amazon listing I ordered mine from. Would be happy to answer any additional/more specific questions.

So far I've been really impressed with it. I have it placed above the radio to the left. I imagine you could get it to clip on the vent to the left of your steering wheel though.
I use this $20 mount here. I have it mounted on the dashboard right above the fan speed knob. It has tiny capacitor inside which powers the grab arms- you set your phone in and it automatically clamps on. To release there is a button on each side of the mount. It also supports wireless charging but 10W charging is too slow these days so I just connect a cable straight to my phone instead.
Some people suggest vent or CD mounts but I hate those because they block the vents and (for those who use it) the radio controls.
I get a replacement from Amazon every year but as noted you can also go to any big auto parts store. The size is used on a variety of Hondas so it's not a difficult-to-find item.

I am not sure exactly what you did, but if you just cleaned them and sanded them, they will look hazy regardless of how much you clean and sand. The headlights need a protective coat over them to give them the glossy, clear look. Some headlight restoration kits do not come with a protective coat. The two most common and popular options are Mequiar's Headlight Coating and 3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat wipes. I have used the latter and have had some great results. Both will require new application after a few months though.
To get other ideas, I recommend searching "headlight restoration" on YouTube. Tons of useful videos with many different methods.
If applying a protective coat doesn't help with the haze, that mostly likely means the inside of the headlights are what is damaged. At that point, I would just buy new housings.
> Clutch kits usually come with everything but a flywheel and clutch fluid.
found this via other Honda Fit clutch replacement reddit searches..
^^ that should do it minus the clutch and tranny fluid right?
Ugh, i feel for you. Currently street park in Brooklyn and i fear for my Fit on the daily. if it's any help, I've had some good results with getting rid of some similar looking marks this stuff (keep it in my trunk at all times) -
https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-50935-Scratch-Repair/dp/B07N6DRHL6
I have the "dash" ver stuck to my windshield. I live in MD, some days it's 100+, no issues past 3-4 years. You have to clean the spot with alcohol first and really well. But having up there for a while, I put another one on near the climate controls. I use that one more for short trips.
I had ordered this from Amazon before a road trip this summer but hadn't gotten around to installing it.
It along with my iPhone were too heavy for that plastic panel above the USB and power plugs. I tried it up north where the weather wasn't 100°. The panel popped out of its tabs hahaha
My goal was to mount it to the right of center so my phone could be vertical behind the passenger cup holder. I'll try again soon. Texas is finally cooking some!
Rockville RockGhost Active... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V4LXVFK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
No rattle. I had to cut down the support a couple inches so it would fit better. It makes the middle stick up just a tiny bit so I need to get a better flatter nut and cut off probably another 1/2" so it sits perfectly flush.
I've tried various mounts and ultimately have stuck with this one. I mount it on the dashboard between the steering wheel and left air vent. If I remember correctly during the summer at one point the adhesive came off so I just bought some stronger adhesive (don't remember what kind) and it has stayed on for two years now.
It supports wireless charging which I like, but if you're using Google Maps with high brightness, it won't charge much, so I just plug the cable into my phone.
The best part about it is that it can automatically clamp when you put your phone down. There's a button near the top which the phone pushes to make this happen. To unclamp, there are buttons on the lower left and right sides. Very easy to use. This electronic clamping system is powered by a capacitor (basically a tiny battery) inside, which needs to be charged every few months, so if you don't keep the mount plugged in for wireless charging, you will have to plug it in for a few minutes.
when you 'christmas tree limit' are you hitting redline? dont.
is this your first car?
Try an FM radio bluetooth transmitter. Basically it connects to your phone via bluetooth, and then connects to the car with an FM radio connection (you set the car to a certain radio frequency and it picks up from the adapter). I've never tried this myself but have heard the audio quality is great.
You don't have to get the one I linked-- there are many different ones on Amazon.
Amazon sells them pretty cheap. They help you not damage the rest of the plastic.
https://www.amazon.com/GOOACC-Removal-No-Scratch-Dashboard-Dismantle/dp/B07V22YC9J/
$8.
Mines from OTC, I've never used this brand but for $8 even if it's one time use it might be worth it.
This will work…if you put the extender in the driver side cup holder.
I don't like using one jack stand on the sides with my fit, it's probably fine but I prefer to jack it from the subframe point between the wheels.
I'm not sure exactly where it is on yours but on first gen's there is a clear spot where the frame comes together in the middle that I jack up and then rest the car on two jack stands when I'm working on mine.
The back is pretty easy to get to but on mine I have to drive the front wheels on some leveling blocks for my jack to reach it. I use these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0028PJ10K/
When I'm doing work under it I feel much safer if both side jack points are supported by stands.
I got a cupholder type. This is the one that I got. I put it in the driver cupholder and bonus the air vent cools my phone down at the same time. I mainly use the middle cup holders if I have a drink.
I find it quite sturdy and once you find a good position then it stays put. I also have no issues with it bouncing around.

Look for support cushions.
I use this seat cushion and this lumbar support cushion (which is currently unavailable but just look up "lumbar support cushion").
I’ll be honest with you I rarely use my mini vacuum, it’s really for touchups too usually it’s just myself in my car though dust and crumb/hair usually gets in anyhow so it’s really to keep things tidy, I don’t really think they’re for hard use or long term use if you would to say use them heavy or a lot but I’ve had mine for about 10 months now and it’s doing it’s job, I got it from Amazon by the way, it comes with some different hose pieces, a bristle brush to clean the filter(comes with two filters) and a small carry bag. I am guessing you already know what they usually come with from the past but here is the one I purchased, I usually purchase items with a lot of reviews so I can really get a handful of experiences with the product cause I know some reviews are fake as well so a wild one is this item in particular has over 2 hundred thousand reviews. Maybe give it a shot if you’re interested [vacuum](www.amazon.com/dp/B07LH5VSX4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QQFH8NETGPBNZMEN5ED7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1)
If you add a "scan gauge" you can monitor all sorts of operational parameters in the car without having to change anything at the engine.

This is just a random one I picked out on Amazon.
This happens to my 2008 a lot. The splash guard is designed to prevent water and other road debris from freely hitting the underside of the engine area.
You technically don't need it to drive safely but it's something you want to have installed right for the long term.
The shield is held in place with plastic retaining clips that are designed to break before the panel does. This means expensive damage is prevented to the parts but they end up dangling and scraping as you drive.
Zip ties are the quickest fix and I keep a bag in my Fit for this kind of work. In the long run you'll want to buy some replacement clips and a clip tool.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FVKLYP1
If you don't have a jack and jack stands you'll also want some riser blocks.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0028PJ10K
Just set up a 3x2 ramp under the front wheels, slowly drive on top of them, put it in park and set the parking break, and it should give you enough clearance to put the clips where you need.
No, this is impossible. You would have to install a new head unit if you wanted to use those buttons. You can buy something like this though.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y5YQZ7N/
I have no experience with this particular product however.
Mishimoto and Evil Energy both sell universal oil catch can kits, but they aren't necessarily bolt-in kits specific for the GK Fit. For the Evil Energy kit, you need to drill at least one hole to fasten it somewhere in the engine bay.
So yea... Nothing that's super easy to install unfortunately, but these are the two brands I would look at for oil catch cans. Hope this helps.

Using one of these, with a pixel in a unicorn beetle case(so a pretty thick case), it still wireless charges fine.
I have mine in the right center air vent, with the bottom resting on the bottom of the vent to take some of the stress off the vent.
1st gen as well

$8 for one, $10 for a pair. blocks the center ac vents if placed horizontal, not too bad if vertical (i placed two of the magnet discs on my phone - one in the middle and another and the bottom so I can switch between horizontal and vertical as needed).

Had a suction cup mount that gripped my phone at the sides before. those are a bit trash imo (can fall off/out for various reasons)
I’ve been using this for 2 years with a couple phones. The magnet is generally strong enough to keep the phone attached even if I keep the plate under my case for aesthetics. Very happy with it as I haven’t used the CD player at all.

Here's the one I got and it's damn near a perfect fit on mine (2012). Only issue is that it doesn't come with the clips to connect the strings so the cover lifts with the trunk tho. I had to buy 2 separately. Other than that, it's perfect. It's a bit pricey tho so there's that. Another redditor recommended it, so I figured nothing to lose. For sure feels like cheap made in China but is 100% worth it! Finally having an armrest that includes decent storage has improved long distance driving
There is actually a custom magnetic mount meant to go between the two center vents. It just snaps into place.
I recommend this one for general car usage. Putting the wheels on for example and brakes. The nice thing about it is the design doesn't require you to wind the setting back to a low setting after use. The other styles, if you don't wind them down it'll throw them out of calibration when they sit.
I used a combonation of these two mounts. The first one clicks right into the dashboard above the radio, but I found the actual phone holder was lacking.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0875RKTQF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For this one you might be able to use a magnetic mount, but I know this one for sure is interchangeable with the first.(It uses that ball grip to attach the phone holder.)
I use the below mount and I'm happy with it, stays in place and doesn't sag. I have it to the vent just to the right of the steering wheel and I use it 95% of the time vs carplay/android auto.

I just went to Amazon and typed in “car wrap vinyl”. I specifically used this 3M 1080 Matte Metallic Blue Air-Release Vinyl Wrap Roll (1/2ft x 5ft) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3PJRFS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FF0APHKRPAPTDWR0GTDZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You could also get a solar charger that plugs into your cigarette lighter and leave the solar panel on your dash......it will keep the battery charged.

I left my 2011 Honda Fit Sport out on two separate instances for a month at a time. It started, but turned over slowly, much like starting it on a very cold sub-zero morning.
A month is almost borderline. It'll probably be OK, as long as the battery is in good condition. You can get a battery tester, like this one. I would still park it in a way such that it can easily be jump-started. If you want more of a guarantee that it will start, consider a batter tender, or disconnect the battery.
Also, fill your gas tank up before storing it, to prevent condensation inside the tank.

I've been using a mount similar to this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CHF34K9/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_ZP4FXYNGD2GZT09E2CPN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 for almost a year. The exact one I purchased is no longer available.
I have the Casekii iPhone case. Works really well with the Anker charger. I use a MagSafe wallet too. Holds onto everything extremely well.

It costs ~$93 and it's pretty solid and easy to use, it does it's job very well. It's just the cargo clips aren't included
I use this but I changed the magnet for a stronger one
I added this 10 inch head unit to mine that comes with CarPlay/android auto and separate SD and USB ports.

Where I live we don't see snow but plenty of frosted windshields. The sooner I can get safe and outward visibility the sooner I could beat the traffic out of the narrow exit.
This is what I have now, it's a little funny shaped compared to the windshield but it covers ~95% of the windshield.its long enough to tuck under the wipers to keep it down in windy conditions.
This is totally possible.
Run the wire from the rear light access panel in the your pic up to the dash along the driver’s side floor. You can lift up the molding on the carpet enough to hide the wire w/o removing it. Once it’s up near the dash you can run it under the carpet toward the stereo or up and behind the dash area right under the steering wheel.
Next you’ll need to remove the large panel on the hatch. It pops right off with a little bit of force. Then pop out both ends of the rubber seal that your wiring runs through (upper left black piece in the pic). Next using the access panel, you’ll need to run the wiring up from near the tail light to the hole with the rubber seal. If you have a metal fish tape use this to feed the wire up. If not a wire coat hanger will do the trick. Just make sure you tape over everything so nothing gets caught or cuts any of the existing wiring while you feed it up.
Once you make to to the hole w/the rubber seal you might want to add a drop of liquid soap over the taped end to help it slide through the rubber sleeve. After you’re through the sleeve, feed the wire down the hatch toward the license plate lights.
You then can mount the camera and feed the wire up thru the license plate light cover. Once you’ve connected the wire and tested everything. Make sure to secure any loose wire in the hatch with a zip tie so it doesn’t rattle, then replace all the panels and you’re good to go.
If you buy this kit, it has a light cover with a pre-made spot to run the wire thru. The camera in the kit isn’t that great, but it’s worth it for the cover alone.

I've been pretty happy with these and haven't had oncoming traffic flash me. Has good aim and street signs reflect these lights so well. As for the fogs I'm using a 3000K set.

My other one broke. It was a 4 sided one but the quality wasn't that great any more. So, I went with this Fehren led. The new fancy led got me. It is nice and bright.
Not 100% sure which one they get. They do have on low beam a cover that won't hit down on the reflector.
If they got this one Fahren H4/9003/HB2 LED Bulb, 300% Super Bright LED Conversion Kit 6500K Cool White IP68 Waterproof, Pack of 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZD8CGNQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_YW8XT60Y85WGEM28RB0D there is a part that blocks the light for the low beam. What I am saying it. One side is upside down.
