Firstly, Thank you so much for your kind words. To answer your questions,
Reg how long it took, I've been on it for a month at an average of 3-4 hours a day. But I benefited greatly from the fact that I knew exactly what to do to the tiniest detail, as versions of this map have been sitting in my computer for years now. If you are working on a fresh new idea for your world, it's best if you take your time to figure out what want in your map and where before you start terraforming. It helps a great deal, esp when you are transitioning across biomes in the map. Also worth mentioning that I spent as much time on Photoshop (stitching the multiple maps together, labelling, and color corrections) as Inkarnate for this one.
The trails (as well as the all-black icons used for the inns and minor settlements) was done in Photoshop, using brushes from Joel Pigou's awesome 'fantasy cartography' brush collection (works on Photoshop and on Gimp). He has a Gumroad account where he has an 'essentials' and 'extended' collection, which you can find here. Heartily recommend it if you fancy making maps on Photoshop as well. You can make a kickass map just by using his brush set.
If you're from Russia, try using VPN (e.g. Hotspot Shield extension for Chrome, check that you are not using Russian VPN server), seems that inkarnate.com got under Telegram block sweep. Maybe they're using amazon for hosting or something.
Googled "dead horse map asset" actually! Don't really know the rules about citing sources here but here is the link:
Edit: posted the wrong link before
Right outside of town a carnival has set up tent(s). Right by the road, they'll be here for a few days until they move on to another town. Can you pull out the sword? Hit the bullseye or bob some apples?
This map was made with Battlemap 2.0 style which is coming to Inkarnate soon.
My first try at a night scene.

I used this piece of clip art, which I cut to from using Pixlr.com, which I then uploaded to Inkarnate as a custom stamp.
To print maps cheaply or to make a fog of war effect, I use rasterbator
Silly name aside, it's good for converting everything into sheets of paper, and scaling isn't too difficult if you're going for 1" squares and account for margins. I then can usually print at Staples or whatever on 8.5x11 sheets for like, $5 each
This is the second map used in "Ebenezer" and my last free map posting for this year! Happy Holidays!

I just printed it with a standard printer at work on thicker, normal business paper.
I used https://rasterbator.net/ to make it as a big poster pdf and just glued it together on an old risk board.
To detail, I used Azgaar's Map Generator: https://azgaar.github.io/Fantasy-Map-Generator/ to generate a map I was happy with, and then used the Chrome extension PerfectPixel by WellDoneCode to create a transparent overlay of the map in my browser. Then in Inkarnate I laid it over a map of all foreground and dug out the ocean and sea, and placed cities/routes/rivers to match.
You're welcome, honestly it took me a while when I first made them as well, if you need a bit of inspiration, there's a map generating tool that will generate rivers based on the height and everything of the map it gives you so you can see how river would naturally form based on that kind of thing, then you can play around, see what kind of things it comes up with on these random maps and implement it into your own :)
If you've seen the South Korean flag before, then you should recognize at least 4 of the elements in this map.
From the top clockwise; heaven, wind, water, mountain, earth, thunder, fire and swamp. Yin and yang in the middle :)
Hope you all like it. Check out my inkarnate profile for the free download and my other maps!
Not so confident in Watercolor Maps just yet, should I have called the map 'Acane Fallout' instead? I dont know, it needed a name. Haha. Its here, for download and cloning.
Its a town with magic users in the north and in the south a city trying to save themselves for being consumed by crafting a "rune" or weaving a "spell" to in an attempt to stop their city from being swallowed.
Also thought the magic might start to corrupt the areas near the void... Then again, mostly just wanted to create something outlandish. This is all Inkarnate Watercolor City Stamps for the contest! :D
Check out my profile, I've a bunch of downloadable free battlemaps over at my Inkarnate profile, check http://linktr.ee/itscatnip :)
