You could try a car seat cover. This helped our pup like the car much better. That way they can't fall and have more support when laying down.
Something like this:
https://www.amazon.ca/seat-covers-cars-YoGi-Prime/dp/B01DZXYSJC
oh, he is so cute!!! I let mine sit up front in my lap when he was tiny and now he always tries to sit up front, even though he is way too big.
There is a great little seat belt for dogs that clips onto their harness and into the seat belt itself. Great for car rides and gives them enough room to stick their head out the window.
Check these silicone brooms out.
Every one I've ever turned on to these, swear by em. Best thing for hard surface floors.
It’s $10 from amazon! MayPaw 4FT/6FT/8FT/10FT Dog Leash, Classic Solid Colors, Durable Mountain Climbing Rope Dog Leash Reinforced with Leather Tailor Connection Heavy Duty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08ML74RNV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_wZvRLRgwkSItA
We put thesedog faucets on a few of our spigots with 'Y' hose adapters.
We keep a bowl under the main one he uses, so the water also dribbles into it.
Just got through to Amazon us. They really do not have that. Found this one: https://www.amazon.com/Chuckit-231201-Medium-Ultra-Tug/dp/B008APMKO6/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=chuck+it+ultra+tug&qid=1622123908&sr=8-3 Look promising. Something to bite on, something to pull, throw. We have the same ball without the string. Also great
If you can afford them, it's a good thing to do.
I use glycoflex. They have 3 formulas, I, II, III. I for young dogs with no problem and III for dogs with joint problems. The great thing about them is the are basically treats so your dog will love them. Search around on Amazon to find the best supplier. I find the listing for these are all over the map. You can sometimes find 3 packs for pretty cheap.

We got/get our lab shin bones and water buffalo horns. They are the best. I get mine from IFA, Sheels and Amazon. I had 2 or three different options around almost every room for the first 6 months.

Beautiful pup, I have the same breed, a female. She had similar symptoms and we were actually using the same food you mentioned. I tried several different brands and animal proteins but she had the best results with Pinnacle Grain Free Dog Food in the Salmon formula.
Amazon plays around with the price but chewy.com has the same food and offers a discount if you autoship it every month.
I was fighting a losing battle before I bought a robovac. If you are just trying to lift dog hair I wouldn’t buy a roomba (in my opinion very expensive and an element of paying for the recognsable brand). I bought a Eufy off amazon for much cheaper and loads of the review say it works better than the roomba. Let me go get the link and will add it. Be right back!
EDIT: Eufy Robot Vacuum Cleaner [BoostIQ] RoboVac 30C, Wi-Fi, Super-Thin, 1500Pa Suction, Boundary Strips Included, Quiet, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

I let mine run twice a day at the moment (I think he is losing his summer coat??) and I empty it each time. Looks like there is a chinchilla in there!
Last thing - I also REALLY recommend the “Furminator” grooming brush. All my other brushes did nothing for my lab. I can get enough hair off my Labrador to make a full Santa beard each time with this. Pricey - about £30 but a REALLY good investment in my opinion.
You could get pinkeye for dogs If the eye gets irritated from debris, insects, or anything else that might have been in the air and impacted the eye or got under the eyelid.
Dogs absolutely love hanging their heads out of the windows of cars. It’s like broadband for their noses.
The downside is that they can get foreign objects in their eye.
You can buy goggles for dogs to help prevent this, or make sure that when you were driving in areas where there might be road debris or insects that the dog is not allowed to stick it’s entire head out of the window.
If your dog continues to have a irritated “pinkeye” you should probably take them to a vet to do a quick examination and make sure there isn’t a piece of of debris causing the irritation.
You can find dog goggles all sorts of places, Amazon sells a lot of different types here is an example:
Namsan Dog Goggles - Large Breed Dog
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0824SC9DG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_UCefFbGN64FX5
my lab got severe tear to the point she was not able to put any wight and waled on 3 legs. We decided to try brace before considering surgery and it was amazing, as after about 3-4 month using brace on walks she was walking on four legs and almost no limp. In fact her condition has improved, she build muscle that compensate and allow her to even run. Even vet was surprised and impressed by her recovery. My German Shepherd just got partial and I made one for her as well. Once I place on her leg, she instantly was able to walk. Her condition was not as severe as labrador though.
Here is the link to similar brace
It hooks to a regular harness and is adjustable. I use it to keep him off my lap…
We split the meal over activities too. Get some Kong balls or similar treat play toy. You can get Kong balls with holes in them that they can roll around and food will come out. Be aware if you have floor vents. The food can go into them and you may get ants. I have the older version of this toy and it's my dog's favorite. It has uneven sides so you never know which direction it will go. Also get some good chew sticks. My dogs have loved these.
If not that book then any well-recommended book on how to raise a puppy. I don't think a few tips on reddit is anywhere near enough information.
You're better off arming yourself with as much knowledge as possible before the puppy arrives so you're not constantly reacting to things and making bad decisions.
I gave this to my guy when he was a pup. He is not 2 and we still use it everyday. It was pretty easy for him to figure out, but it still takes him about 20 minutes (with each door halfway closed) to finish his food.
I like a lot of the rubbery brushes that help with hairs that are stubborn in microfiber.
This one is ok and designed to reach the corners. I keep one in my car and one to use after vacuuming https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BVTHTRB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I still vacuum because I think it helps with the dog smell, even if some hair is left for this brush to handle
This works the best on our couches: https://www.amazon.com/Pet-Hair-Remover-Reuseable-Furniture/dp/B086WY4N2Y?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1.
We have two yellow labs, so double the hair! It takes me about 1-2 minutes each day.
They make a gravy powder that’s super easy to mix with dry kibble. It’s like $13 and last for a little bit. I just haven’t researched how healthy it is.
Got me through 2 hellion lab pups.
It floats, nearly indestructible when pulling/tugging and chewing, vibrant colors so easy to find in grass/water.
I still have and use the original 3 toys of it I got for them.
Just gotta shove it in their mouth whenever they want to chew on a non desirable item/person. They will learn the difference between toys and non toys after a bit.
We've had good luck with Nylabones, Bam Bones, and these which live up to their claims.
this ball is very durable and fun to play with. Hope you figure out something that works for you and your pup! 😊
This bone got us through the puppy phase! It takes my Black Lab Beagle mix about a month to destroy it. She’s 2 now and it is still her favorite toy.
You 100% need the orange Kong without the big gaping hole. It literally takes my lab forever to get all the food out and he LOVES it. He eats all other chews in 15 min or less and often tries to swallow a big chunk of whatever chew and it freaks me out. We fill it with chicken and chopped carrots/ apple or red pepper and a little bit of regular peanut butter and some peanut butter powder so it’s not too high in fat. Best item we have got for him in 4 years and he is so tired afterwards and his brain is very satisfied.
I’ve had the pleasure of having three labs so far in mu lifetime. You must get one of these kongs that you can’t find in pet stores (see link below). Fill it with chicken, some veggies and mix it with peanut butter (we use peanut butter powder because my guy is sensitive to high fat). It keeps them busy for at least an hour and is way better than the regular kong! https://www.amazon.ca/Kong-GM1-Genius-Large-Mike/dp/B003JVDV5S/ref=asc_df_B003JVDV5S/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292983204477&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10690267635087963239&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvde...
I got a couple of washable "diapers" like these:
https://www.chewy.com/frisco-washable-female-diaper/dp/341990
Note the hole for the tail. I also put in a panty liner since I wasn't sure how much blood to expect. I think it worked well.
Lots and lots of redirection to toys and things they can chew on safely! Ours used these a lot: https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Ware-089654-Gorilla-Chew/dp/B075H2XGZS/ref=mp_s_a_1_4 And make them use their brain—training, brain games, food puzzles (my husband drilled a big hole in a mailing tube and we toss treats and kibble inside and he rolls it around for 20 minutes to get everything out!) to keep them occupied.
We put these on our sofa when we're not around. Our dog tried to sit on them once, never again.
We just keep the toilet lids down.
Some of our dogs do the water bowl digging thing, but only if the bowl is on the ground. Because we feed them on a wood floor & they're older, we have stands to elevate the food & water bowls to make it easier on our two 7YO pups.
Since your pup is growing, would something like this work?
https://www.amazon.com/Advance-Pet-Products-2109-Tri-Stage/dp/B005GWWCMQ
There are a lot of good suggestions here. This is what I would do:
1) Put a cone on that dog
2) Call your vet follow their instructions
3) If it might be environmental allergies, wash the dogs paws down with chlorhexidine 2% solution further diluted following manufacturer recommendations. This is the decontamination solution recommended by Dr. Erin Perry for canines.
4) Apply QuickDerm by VetCare daily until the would heals
You get 2 days worth?!?!
What kind of toys are you getting so I can get them lol.
These are pretty good though
The fire hose toy lasted quite a while with our lab.
Dog crates? Like this?
Which country do you live in?
Yikes! That life she came from! It fills my mind with anxiety of parvo. Fortunately Luca was a lucky dog! Scooped up, cleaned, and vaccinated.
I have no idea if you like reading dog rescue stories. Luca's puppy pics made me think of this book titled Black Empress: Rescuing A Puppy From Iran by Bobbi Phelps Wolverton
https://www.amazon.com/Black-Empress-Rescuing-Puppy-Iran-ebook/dp/B01D3YGQ8O
Someone gave me the book, and I read it all in one go. So I thought, since it sprung to the forefront of my mind, I ought to mention it. Its a true story.
I see you like to adorn Luca in pink! 💟💟💟 The cover to that book is hot pink 💗 too.
What a find!
https://www.chewy.com/tuffys-ocean-creatures-general/dp/39057
My lab loved to play tug of war. She would try to pull your arm out of your socket. This was her favorite toy because it fit perfectly in her mouth and it was difficult for me or any other opponent to get a good grip on one of the arms. Tuffy toys are also very durable.
The ball is a necessity.
Anything she can hold between her paws and very slowly and methodically destroy, lol. Maybe go to a dollar store and buy a bunch of cheap stuffed animals.
A food cube. It makes a lot of racket and chaos all over the house, but she sure enjoyed it.
That's a Lab alright! 🙂
If you can get him off of kibble that would make this easier. Kibble is a concentrate. Packs plenty of calories into a small volume. It makes feeding dogs cheaper and convenient. I'm not anti-kibble. It can work. Ive seen dogs that lived a long life on a mainly kibble diet (not that this was the only part of their diet). The thing is, if you were feeding him something like you would eat, that's not as processed, doing that diet switch alone might gradually take care of this issue.
He doesn't need extra calories, but he still needs to eat! Gut motility, cellular nutrition...yeah still needs food! As we know with humans, sure they can lose weight on any diet as long as calories are reduced, but typically humans are told to get off processed food, eat protein, and increase plant fiber, and hydration. Dogs are so symbiotic with us humans. We're omnivores. Technically dogs are omnivores too. But they lean towards the carnivore side.
All that chub is probably from whatever is in the diet that raises insulin too much. If you can switch him to food you prepare yourself, that alone should optimize his hormonal response to what he eats. Everything comes down to endocrine physiology.
I'm still not on board with 100% raw feeding unless someone intends on really reading up on how to do it right. You have to be very careful. A cooked diet is easier, less room for error, for most people to prep for their dogs. Even if you merely use cooked food as a meal topper with kibble, this is great for that...
I recommend this.... The Dog Dish Diet by Dr. Greg Martinez
Home cooked food for dogs - Greg Martinez DVM https://youtu.be/JCWmkvN2Qok
That YouTube channel has a ton of canine veterinary issues featured.
Here is the book..... https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Gregs-Dog-Dish-Diet/dp/0984127836
We had a similar issue and have the same stairs. We got these and it made our pup so much more confident when doing stairs. They are great and can confirm the do not hurt the floors at all. Come right up with no residue when you need to remove them.
There are a few different scents. But this is what you want to be looking for. It is a bit expensive, but it does last a long time. I think we are going on a year with our same bottle. Totally worth it.
GoDog toys on Amazon seem to hold up for awhile and were popular with various dogs I have been around.

Have you seen this toy?
It’s an egg about the size of a football. My lab goes nuts when he plays with it. If you give it a light smack, it’ll fall out of your labs mouth. Really fun and interactive for them to play with. Our labs holds it in his mouth and romps around the yard with it. The guy at the pet store told us his German shepherd has had hers for two years and has yet to destroy it.
Lol, that part is a lot more noticeable, for sure, but we have a lot more than that. When we groom them you can tell from the sheer volume that comes off of him. Also, the amount of hair that is covers you and swirls in the air when we pet him or snuggle with him at all.
I use a Dakpets Furblaster on them daily and his is just never-ending. I could spend hours on him and still obtain sheds, where the other two get 10-15 strokes each day and we are about done.
I like this toy for my lab.
It’s not a chewy per say, but if your lab likes to hold things in her mouth, she’ll love this one. It’s an egg about the size of a football, it’s hard plastic too. So when your lab runs around with it, it’s pretty easy to give it a gentle tap and it falls out and just repeat over and over. Our labs loves running around the yard with it. It’s a very fun and I’d even say interactive toy. It’s brought a lot of enrichment to his life.
Search Amazon or chewy for 'dog ear flush'. Our vet has us use one because we have a pool and can't keep the dog out lol.
Our vet has us use this one .
That should help until you can get to the vet.
Not sure about the oils but my lab's coat looks great with this
We had good luck slowing ours down with the slow feeders. We actually have this exact one and it's on sale for just 5 bucks.
https://www.amazon.com/Kyjen-Feeder-Bloat-Outward-Purple/dp/B00FPKNRG4/ref
We got a few different ones so we aren't constantly washing them they get extra gross after dinner time with all the licking that is required to get the food.
I got this book when I got my pup in October and it has been incredibly helpful.
Yeah, my guy was 36 lbs at 4 months (16.4 kg) and settled into an adult weight of 72 lbs (32.7 kg). I've always fed religiously by Royal Canin's guide, using a kitchen scale at first to "see" what the appropriate amount of food (by weight in grams) looked like. (Two scoops, twice a day; Royal Canin Labrador takes up a lot of volume! My 50 lbs senior gets like 5/8 scoop, twice a day, of the Pro Plan, but those kibble pieces are much smaller and take up a lot less space.)
My first Lab I wasn't as attuned to such things and at one point my mom snidely noted he "wasn't missing any meals." He settled into a stable adult weight of 65 lbs (29.5 kg) for almost a decade, until lymphoma.
My pups get a lot of training treats (small, stinky, and squishy, are what our trainer recommends) and engagement treats (put in toys that require them to actively work to get them; kongs, puzzles, a favorite pickle...), but they're also pretty active.
Well, my senior has been slowing down a bit, and put on a couple of pounds (from ~49 to ~52), so I adjusted her food down slightly and now she's back to where she should be. If only that were true for her owner! :)
It's a Gentle Leader, which is like a head harness that helps teach the dog to walk without pulling. It goes around the head behind the ears and the snout, and allows the dog to use its mouth normally. Don't worry, they're very common and vet-approved.
This makes my pup smell great between baths. It also makes his fur super soft.
Prong-collars are misunderstood. They are not the same as choke-chains, they do not choke at all. They are specifically sized to prevent choking.

If my opinion, if you have a dog that pulls hard and currently use a standard collar, a prong-collar is actually better for them when used properly. It distributes the pressure from pulling all around the neck, instead of all the force being right against their throat. My old dog would pull so hard he would choke himself with a normal collar. Everything immediately improved once I switched to a prong collar.
I highly recommend you do some more research and consider the prong collar as an effective tool in this situation.
Just make sure to get a quality one, something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W4WYLL5?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_8R1A4BK5K92GVSEHTBEF
Cheap ones may not have nice and smooth prongs, which will hurt them.
Best method we found was taking treats on walks and treating when they don’t pull. Also helps get their attention when they see other dogs/squirrels/landscapers/people/cars that have bad vibes and loss focus.
Don’t use a chest harness. They were designed for sled dogs to pull against. Try one of these:
https://www.chewy.com/petsafe-easy-walk-dog-harness/dp/48917
I am so sorry for your loss! You nailed it. They are the best dogs in the world, we just don't get to have them in our lives for nearly long enough?
We lost one several years ago. She was adored by the folks at the vet clinic. After she passed, we received this book from them. Not sure how old your kids are, but the book made me smile when I was feeling so sad:
https://www.amazon.com/Dog-Heaven-Cynthia-Rylant/dp/0590417010/
The only thing we have bought that she can't destroy is
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NYTJL46?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
She chews on it everyday and so far so good. Although I see they are not available right now.
We had a similar problem, out lab tear ACL in the left hind leg (confirmed on x-dray). She was not able to put any wight and basically started to walk on three legs (hoping). Vet was reluctant to suggest surgery and advised us about trying brace before deciding for surgical intervention. We bought neoprene knee brace on Amazon after researching options (Walkabout canine knee brace). We started to put on her for walks and after 3-4 weeks she has dramatically improved. Now we put the brace before every walk and she does not show any limp and even is able to run. Sometime she runs like she never gad issue, but we limit crazy running to prevent re-injury. I do massage her leg as well as she like that. here is the link to the brace
It will be a lot to cover in a comment about puppy training so I will redirect you to r/puppy101 instead. They have some good basic info there and a lot of other puppy owners’ posts to learn from.
A more traditional approach is this book by Bonnie Bergin. Honestly there are many books that have similar information about raising a puppy.
For naming ideas.. I keep a list of potentially interesting dog name ideas for myself and I will shortlist some contenders for my future dogs. You can steal whichever (or not.)
My own dog’s name? Dyson Sphere. Goes by Sphee for the most part. He’s a silver Lab.
I just got this ball for our lab/American bulldog mix. He destroys most toys and he hasn't chewed through this yet and it has kept him occupied for awhile now.
https://www.chewy.com/planet-dog-orbee-tuff-squeak-ball/dp/141375
We have also had good luck with this brand:
https://www.chewy.com/ruff-dawg-indestructible-dawg-nut/dp/172395
If left alone though he will sit and pick and chew the kongs apart and eat the rubber. These two brands have so far held up.
Tick Tornado ZenPet Tick Remover for Dogs & Cats & People https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010NU1V1I/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_2WP0YV4X0GKP3FET1EQK
Others have suggested keeping your dog current on flea/tick prevention, which is always a good idea. We have done that with our lab and she still has managed to find a few ticks usually. This tool makes removal very easy and pain-free. Be sure to check their belly thoroughly and also their ears and between their toes!
My pup picked up on this in about two days.
Chewy has a nice, reasonably priced no stuffs. Basically a plush toy without the stuffing. Almost 2 full months and lil doggo has yet to destroy one!
https://www.chewy.com/zippypaws-skinny-peltz-no-stuffing/dp/131775
Highly recommend trying a soft E collar. We have this one and as long as the seam where it opens was behind his head, my boy couldn't get to himself.
YMMV though. Others have complained that their dogs could get around them. I think it's worth a shot though, they make life easier.
It’s not exactly the same but the wunderball has a good bounce.
A soft cone works better in my opinion. Something like Comfy Cone
Got this for my sister's plush toy killing pup & so far so good:
https://www.chewy.com/frisco-flat-plush-squeaking-raccoon/dp/272409
https://www.chewy.com/frisco-flat-plush-squeaking-beaver/dp/201418
We love "squeaky snake". Squeaker in each segment so he lasts a lot longer than other toys.
Outward Hound Invincibles Green Snake Plush Dog Toy https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B003RQNE7U/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_0GBNY8MT47TQBA1Y9EY5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Our lab loves his green ball. We'll stuff it with treats and use it for awesome fetch sessions too!
Ark Naturals Brushless Toothpaste - LARGE BREED
I really like these. We get them at our local shop for about the same price as online, roughly $1/pc.
There’s a product called Forbid that actually works.
Our 7 year old Lab occasionally likes to snack on a turd. When she does, after making sure the yard is cleared of all leavings, we sprinkle some of this, for about 2 weeks, on both dogs (we also have a bloodhound) food and the snacking stops.
Best of luck
The dimensions of the crate in that link are LxWxH - 1060mm (41 inches) x 710mm (27.9 inches) x 760mm (29.9 inches).
This travel crate has almost the exact same dimensions (40x27x30).
There are a lot options for dealing with shedding which will both help your little itchy girl & your furniture & carpet. My favorite is:
https://www.chewy.com/frisco-shedding-blade-dog-brush-one/dp/233496
Warning, you'd want to be outside to use it & you'll be shocked how much fur comes off of a Lab.
My lab pup used to pull us A LOT when we were walking him. A friend recommended this type of harness and it’s literally worked overnight. The first time walking with this harness was magical since he didn’t pull at all.
https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-Harness-Large-BLACK-SILVER/dp/B0009ZBKG4

Hope that works.. I got it off Amazon because I was keen for it to arrive quickly
This is what I use for my lab
This harness has really helped but you ultimately want to strengthen leash training with your dog in conjunction with using a harness
I bought the book Your Labrador Retriever Puppy. It’s a month to month guide from when you bring puppy home. It had some super good information, training tips, explained my dogs behavior, etc. I found it to be SUPER helpful. I highly recommend it.
What a horrible threat, especially this time of year! My previous Lab used to bark a lot due to his anxiety and guests coming round.
I would personally suggest peanut butter in a Kong or this toy we call ‘treats in a bomb’ where they roll the bomb around with their nose and it treats fall out gradually. Here’s the link:
SodaPup USA-K9 Cherry Bomb Dog Chew Toy, Reward Toy, Tug Toy, Fetch Toy and Treat Dispenser for Aggressive Chewers, Guaranteed Tough, Made in USA - Large Red https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075ZYYHJM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_B6PZMV42G7Y98BXM3J59
Found it or close =)
Look for washable “chucks” for human beds. They come in large sizes, and are super absorbent, plus, washable. Here’s one example from Amazon. These worked well with my kidney dog, plus they aren’t as easy to tear up as the disposables.
You have to really brush out that undercoat with a furminator. You have to not overdo it, but you'll be amazed how much fur you'll end up with! And vacuum, vacuum, vacuum! I would think that outfit would be uncomfortable for your pup long term. They are double - coated dogs, and their temperature is regulated based on their coat, so you also should never trim down a lab's coat (they also have semi-water-resistant fur, too). If you don't want to brush out yourself, find a good groomer and have them furminate, as well as use a deshed shampoo. I'm putting links for both products I have either used or have seen used at doggie daycare. I get nothing from these links. They're informational only.
FURminator De-Shedding Tool for Large Dogs https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B004WJ0IPM/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8YJFK1QKN5CZVNTDZ8XG

I don’t know if you’ve tried using a “rake” type brush, but I have found this one to do a great job. Even dogs that won’t tolerate a “slicker” brush seem to like these rakes. As long as you are gentle when you’re stroking it along their skin for them it is like the ultimate itch scratcher. My dog who hated slicker brushes would actually beg to be brushed with this. It removes a TON of underfur that slickers don’t get.
Ontario here - My guy can stay out for quite sometime even on the most frigid days (-30) and doesn’t want to come back inside. It’s usually me dragging his furry ass home because it’s freezing. I wouldn’t worry about getting him a coat unless you want to dress him up. I would recommend paw cream though - muttluks or mushers are decent but I really like Max and Neo paw and nose cream (which comes from the states). You’ll want something with calendula in it to help with cracks especially if you’re in an area with salted sidewalks. In terms of boots, the rubber boots you get at pet stores are actually the best but their such a pain to put on. This year I got my boy a pair of muttluks (not sure how it’ll work out).
I would also recommend to get one these balls (https://www.amazon.ca/JW-HOLEE-Roller-Treat-Bouncy/dp/B07VYPB628/ref=asc_df_B07VYPB628/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459723989516&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12358721197621599274&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hv...) to play with in the snow. They’re a lot of fun as they fill up with snow when you kick it around. You can find them at most pet stores
We have an extremely active 7 month old black field lab. She has a strong prey drive so we thought she would like this toy dog flirt pole. She gets 4 walks a day, one is through a field or forested area to do some nose work but she’s still nuts after all that exercise. The flirt pole burns a lot of energy and she loves it!
My lab has a sensitive stomach. We cut out chicken and corn. He loves pumpkin purée (no sugar kind) frozen in a Kong with a little peanut butter. When his allergies are really bad we give him a couple allergy pills twice a day: CHLORPHENIRAMINE 4MG TAB CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE-4 MG Yellow 1000 TABLETS UPC 309040012807 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AOEUTU2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_3NY1EHBV7766F1EAKFF7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Finally found a food that is affordable and good for allergies: Diamond Naturals Skin & Coat Formula All Life Stages Dry Dog Food, 30-lb bag: https://app.chewy.com/v6whgKIvolb
Zoomies are a sign of an under-stimulated, under-exercised dog. Either he is being left alone too long, or he just has very high energy needs. A lot of puppy ownership, especially with labs, is energy management. If his energy (mental and physical) needs are being met, he should alternate between playful/energetic (but not out of control) and rest/calm.
My dog is also 1 and his favorite toy, by far, is a flirt pole. 10 minutes running after it and he is wiped out. Just be careful because they can get obsessed with it and push themselves beyond their limits. My guy will sprint and jump for a couple of minutes and then I force him to take a break to catch his breath. The breaks are good impulse control exercises as well, since he needs to sit and wait to get going again.

Also, if he is slipping out of his collar, why not just try a front-clip harness? Or a Halti?
I bought LED collars for ours for this time of year. Highly recommend.
I bought a parrot feeding bowl that clips on to the bars, so far she hasn't tried to take it off. It's isn't huge but she's only in their at night: Clip on bowl They assist to make bigger ones.
Never ever leave any dog unsupervised with any toys and always check all toys for wear and tear. This is the only toy that has lasted for 2-4 years with my boy who was a chewer and popped a top off a black Kong and needed surgery to remove it. https://www.chewy.com/west-paw-zogoflex-toppl-tough-treat/dp/109833
Had it for awhile and it does pretty good!
If you think it’s allergies ask your vet about: CHLORPHENIRAMINE 4MG TAB CHLORPHENIRAMINE MALEATE-4 MG Yellow 1000 TABLETS UPC 309040012807 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AOEUTU2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_R18SCTT857XXHB3DGDAF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I looked around and bought this in the end because I have four Labs and one is afraid of the ocean, plus sometimes the waves are rough even for my best swimmer.

NO take only throw!
It's a meme because it's true lol. Try working on a drop it command.
I have a tennis ball thrower similar to the one I will link but it has a squeaky toy squeaker on the handle (my dogs absolutely love squeaky toys.) A squeak or 2 will usually make them focus in on the launcher.
I also play with 2 balls at one time.
I throw one and load the launcher with the spare. Squeak it and focus their attention and the ball falls out of their mouth. Throw it and load with the one on the ground.
Hope this helps.
You could try a gentle leader.

I found this harness to be very useful with my lab. She would choke herself til she threw up when we used a collar/leash combo and she is a weird sizing so standard harnesses were too big around the neck & too small around the chest.
Harness Lead, Escape Resistant Leash, Reduces Pull, Dog Harness, Medium/Large 40-170 lbs, Pink/Purple https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08N2VQSDR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_W6GTDDTNQ2VQJ2XM03R1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Lab runs.. grabs... squeeks when they get... squeek all the way on retrieve rince and repeat. Also good at not getting torn up.
