Not quite a textbook, but Read Thai In 10 Days is a great resource for A level students or students who haven’t mastered reading and pronunciation rules/trends.
It has 10 chapters, so yes, technically if you master one chapter per day you will have mastered the book in 10 days but I doubt most people accomplish it in that time frame.
I have a link collection on Pinboard, some of the things should be perfect for you:

I can also heartily recommend the Facebook group "Farang Can Learn Thai Language รักภาษาไทย", which is full of good information and helpful people.
I would never guilt trip anyone trying to learn another language but I tried starting to learning Thai language by speaking and listening but if I could do it all over again I would learn to read and write asap. My learning evolved 110% once I learned to read and write. Once you learn the alphabet you can learn to read and write in 10days with “Read Thai in 10 Days”. I swear it works. Thai alphabet system is really beautiful and with a little practice you’ll be able to tell the correct tone for each word. I highly suggest to learn to read and write immediately and go from there. Just my opinion. But google translate reads back the words with tones. Good luck! Also the members of this group are all extremely helpful.10 Days
I'm enjoying it so far. The high audio production quality appeals to me and the lesson structure reminds me of Pimsleur.
The downside is that I'm currently very ineffectively retaining the material even when listening to the lesson multiple times. I've been listening to it while eating and driving and maybe the reason is I'm not entirely devoting my attention to it while multitasking. I haven't been using it long and will be experimenting with different ways for more effectively studying the material.
Some ideas I have right now are using an audio repeater app for segments of audio I want to loop a few times

have also considered making Anki cards out of the vocabulary and phrases and using AwesomeTTS text-to-speech (https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/301952613)
I don’t want to be a shill but I wrote an app to teach the script that’s free to try the first few lessons and I legitimately think that it’s one of the better ways to learn to read. It’s called Pocket Thai Reading and it’s available on the App Store and Google Play.
There are also plenty of free resources out there too that work quite well, but if you want an all-in-one program and are willing to pay a few dollars than Pocket Thai Reading might be up your alley.
I just looked at their website and app, it's got a nice user interface but doesn't seem like it provides anything more than memrise/anki can provide on the vocab/flashcard front and the free alternatives also have spaced repetition that makes learning more efficient.
I would recommend checking out the free Anki Thai decks if you want to learn vocab. There's also a great free Anki Android app.
Oh I was focusing on high mutual intelligibility angle and accent associated with a register. Anyway, I found this.

Chiang Mai and Lam Pang accent.
Note: while some say Isaan and Northern Thai is a dialect of Central Thai, in fact they are classified as separate languages with high mutual intelligibility.

สำหรับ = exclusive use
ผลิตภัณฑ์สำหรับทารก Product for babies เครื่องสำอางสำหรับผู้ชาย Cosmetics for men ยาชนิดนี้ใช้สำหรับทาภายนอกเท่านั้น This drug is for external use only ดอกไม้สำหรับคุณ Flowers for you
*เท่านั้น (only) could be added to make a sentence sound more restrictive
เพื่อ = doing sth for the sake of...
ผมจะพยายามเพื่อคุณ I'll try for you. หนังสือเล่มนี้เขียนขึ้นเพื่อให้กำลังใจต่อผู้ป่วยโรคซึมเศร้า This book was written for cheering up people who are suffering from depressions.
This book helped me a lot with getting started reading Thai. It’s not the only resource you’ll want but it’s a great jumping off point.
Also, Anki flashcard Thai decks are a great resource
I learned Thai from a polyglot many years ago. He had never been anywhere but spoke 20+ languages completely fluently. He learned from this book in the 80s, and had us use it as well. Some people will say it's antiquated, (60+ yrs old) but it was the standard for many years.
The entire thing is online here.
Not a website, but something I've used to increase my vocab is this app called Drops. It's free (for up to 5 minutes a day) and one of the few overarching language learning apps that actually also offers Thai. It's an easy way to learn some new words and it is actually the way I learned reading the alphabet in the first place. Might be somewhat helpful :-)
> Still don't have tone rules down to be honest. Not sure knowing the tone on reading would help with being able to voice the tone or recognize it on hearing either.
Knowing how a word is spelled lets you know how it's pronounced. Knowing how a word is pronounced lets you know how it's spelled. Of course you can have the ability to read but not the ability to speak, or vice versa. Learning becomes much quicker when you're proficient at both.
When you find a word that you struggle to pronounce I highly suggest using this Thai Dictionary App. It tells you the tone and which tone rules apply. It's especially helpful since some words have irregular tones that do not conform to the rules and can only be learned by memorization, though thankfully these are quite rare.
For typing faster, I think you need to practice typing a lot to remember where the keys locate in the keyboard or virtual keyboard. Some virtual keyboards on mobile phones have word prediction but I don't recommend using it as you will not try your best to learn and remember how the words are spelled.
I'm practice writing with strokes in this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simyasolutions.writeme.universal and also try to type & write on paper almost Thai writing I see around me. My Thai friends even said that my Thai handwritings looked better than hers. I feel so happy about that :D

Hi everyone, I have just developed an app for learning Thai language by traveling in Thailand through VR. It was really fun to develop and now I need some help from you guys.
If you are a Thai language learner, either basic or advanced, could you try out my app to see if it helps you in learning more Thai. The app basically lets you watch VR travel videos in Thailand with subtitles and the virtual guide (Nong May - น้องเมย์) will teach you Thai words and phrases that you can practice speaking to your phone by speech recognition system.
I want the app to be a fun and interesting way to learn Thai, while promoting Thailand tourism to the world. If you can help give feedback on whether or not this is useful to you in learning Thai and how I can improve the app I'd be really grateful. Cheers :)
edit: sorry for repost, I thought having a video preview is more convenient for you to preview the app :D

Downloaded. Great idea to use color for tone and to allow the user to change fonts. I remember learning to read the Thai script then coming to Thailand and not being able to make sense of many signs due to the font. I can't seem to hear any audio when I click the play button, made sure my media volume was all the way up. I'm on Android btw.
And cool to hear you're using RN. I also recently made an app using react-native to help learn Thai, it's a card matching game to practice vocab. I was using Expo initially but when I first tried to publish to the Play store, it had all these permissions that it didn't really need so I ended up ejecting the app (I had used CRNA to create the project), changing the relevant android files and built the app manually. I haven't released on iOS because I'm cheap and don't want to pay the developer fee lol.
I used this book myself:
http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Thai-An-Introduction-Language/dp/0804801592
It is excellent! It's from 1969 though, so you'll learn some old-fashioned words while you're at it, but hey that's a bonus imo.
