Usually when a network has master nodes (like Dash), they have some voting rights on a governance structure. They control and coordinate the development or funds in a pool by voting. This is how Dash master nodes work - https://www.dash.org/masternodes/
Lightning nodes are just passing cryptographic signatures around for each other. It's like if someone gave you a bank check to give to someone else, you can't cash it. So to you, it's just a piece of paper, it only has value to the end point receiver. You're just routing the data, similar to how a mesh network works, but with a very specific kind of data.
But, again, I'd want to know exactly what the french government means by master node. I can disagree with a judge until I'm blue in the face, but guess who's going to win that argument at the end of the day :D
Whenever I see anyone wanting to use blockchain to host content, I want to point out we already have Freenet, BitTorrent, and Tor that solve those problems better than blockchain.
Combining all this tech, like the article suggests, is very promising. Imagine a torrent that you have to pay sats to download and the torrent hosts get a cut out if it.
The future of lightning will be integration. It's a much better path than trying to make it into Ethereum
So I probably came on a bit strong. It doesn't make you automatically a professional. But the texts lead to different interpretation because of how blurry all of it is.
Here is the link that started my questioning: https://cryptoast.fr/fiscalite-crypto-staking-masternodes/
Here is an interesting post on the Dash wesite's forum: https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/pour-savoir-comment-d%C3%A9clarer-ses-dashs-cest-par-ici.16457/ (Nb: published in 2017)
As for having a Bitcoin node I will probably go through get.umbrel if I ever jump the gun on setting up a node but I am far from it yet. I am mainly trying to educate on crypto for now
Hope you enjoy your stay in France :)

I'm running on a 4Gb unit with many extra's and seems to be handling it fine. Heat is the bigger issue with RPI4's, I got a heatsink / case similar to this one for mine and it's been working silently with no problems.
If you really, really want to know how it works, read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Lightning-Network-Blockchain-Protocol/dp/1492054860 and study it well.
One of the key features is that when you receive a payment, it' impossible to know where it came from. So what you ask is not possible, you need an invoice generated by your counterparty.
When there is no trusted party that can "cheat" by stealing money, by double spending or by blocking transactions then it is decentralized. https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Lightning-Network-Blockchain-Protocol/dp/1492054860

Shitcoins like xrp require trusted parties thus they are centralized.
Joltfun, a (steam/Epic/Origin/...) game store, accepts Lightning.
My VPN and Proxy are from Torguard. Torguard uses "Coinpayments" and their own BTCPay node. Coinpayments accept Lightning. I don't know if they already activated lightning on their BTCPay node.
In my opinion, when you start to use Lightning, going back to standard Bitcoin makes a confirmation time of 10 mins very long. So I hope that every business where you pay "small" amounts, will use Lightning.
hi, can you explain how did you bump fee?
My transaction is marked as RBF enabled but I can`t find a way how to do RBF cause there is only one output tx (none change tx). I know how to bump the fee by CPFP for channel opening, but there is change tx so it`s easier. I can`t find a way to do RBF on this kind of transaction (one input -> one output).
Somebody recommend to use tx accelerator (eg. ViaBTC, but fee is too low even for this). I found only one page offering this service (btc.com) but it doesn`t seem legit cause they ask for payment in BCH.
I really want to know how to do this myself (RBF on this kind of tx) and also to understand how is this fee for settlement transaction calculated.
I found a mention of possibility of RBF through importing lnd wallet seed to Electrum, but I`m not sure how lnd will deal with it.
Oh.. Well then I would probably try Electrum.
FYI OP it's one of the oldest bitcoin wallets in general, and has added lightning network support in the last year. It might be the very first "light wallet", meaning it doesn't download the full bitcoin blockchain to your computer. But you can point it at your own full bitcoin node if you wanna. However for this you will need an intermediate program called Electrum server or electrumx server, I'd have to double check.

But you are hanging right in the middle of the mempool.... lnd can feebump, but not sure if it's possible in this case.

Man, I can't wait for the new OP that sponsors unrelated TXs... forgot it's name, but would make speeding up transactions really easy and efficient (compared to cpfp)
: There I buy my games for Steam. (But they support more game platforms)
Torguard: My VPN and torrent proxy. (They implemented BTCPay for BTC and LN payments)
Torguard also has private email.
I think hotel/airplane tickets website accepts BTC and LN. I never used them.
it's just as much a dex as all the things calling themselves dex;)
to me, it's really only a dex if it has a fiat on and off ramp. Do you know others besides Bisq? Bisq is bitcoin only.
I use balena etcher to burn images onto SD cards. If both drives pop up when you put it into your machine then most likely they are different partitions on the SD card so burning to either or should work.
Edit:
Removed junk text.
Look no further than this ^ it's exactly what you're looking for and the authors are incredibly deserving of support if you want to buy a physical copy https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Lightning-Network-Blockchain-Protocol/dp/1492054860
Sure, but the fee of sending a transaction on-chain is at a minimum around 1500 sats. And with lightning you usually need an "invoice" to make a payment to. That's why the bot exists as a middleman Tipper -> Bot -> You.
There are multiple diffferent Lightning enabled wallets you can use; Blue Wallet, Phoenix Wallet (beware, there's a rogue one on google play store at the moment, this is the real one), and Breez.
I would not suggest any custodial wallet, and those custodial wallets do not have testnet versions; why should they waste time to accept fake money when they can take real money from newbies. If you have an Android phone you can install Eclair testnet wallet and test it on Starblocks. Here's where to get the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.acinq.eclair.wallet&hl=en_US
And here's a testnet faucet where you can get free test coins: https://coinfaucet.eu/en/btc-testnet/
> would it be possible to buy the LN tokens
There's no such things as "LN tokens". Bitcoin Lightning Network is NOT an ICO if this is what you're expecting. There are a few custodial wallets but it's better to have your own node/wallet. You can download Eclair mobile testnet wallet on a cheap android phone and check it out how it works:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.acinq.eclair.wallet
And you can get free test coins here: https://testnet-faucet.mempool.co/
>Correct me if I am wrong but what prevents Blue Wallet from stealing my money?
Nothing.
>But what if I don’t run a node?
But what stops you from running a node? I run Eclair Mobile from my phone, which is a non-custodial wallet.
No Eclair mobile? It's made by ACINQ, who make one of the three main implementations of the LN. Surely they should have a spot in here.

Thanks! Android app is available here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.cordova.coinos

iOS app is in Test Flight now but I've been having trouble getting the Facebook Login function working for it. Once I get that figured out I'll submit it for App Store approval.
Here's the original video, it's a light wallet (3:05): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq4lF2s4UtI
Here's the actual app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.acinq.eclair.wallet.mainnet2&hl=en_US
I definitely like the no friction approach. It's custodial and closed source but I understand that approach might be right for the company releasing this. They are interested in merchant adoption. Nice to have options. Bonus: You can download the Android version without signing up to beta https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.livingroomofsatoshi.wallet
