Not a veteran but get a cheap laptop stand on Amazon to angle it up.
I have this style and it's fine.
Man the MPC is a blast!
I’ve been kicking myself for not getting one sooner! I got the Live 1.
As far as rock and other genes go…
https://www.bandlab.com/posts/45e0a6d327f4468dbfd367a73b42afdd_7beadf017906ec11b563a04a5e796c42
This is all sequenced with an MPC Live.
As others have said, I’d also look into getting a class compliant mixer like a Tascam Model 12.
Thank you! The stand is this one and I love it. Perfect size for the MPC One and it holds it at the perfect angle
when i was looking at them 2 years ago, they were like $200 with the regular being around $100 (this is CDN). Now I can't find any pros for under $350 and even the regular go:mixers have been jacked up to like $250+
I think they were hit by the chip/silicone shortage and basically sold out and haven't been able to make more.
Early on in the pandemic, everyone was getting into streaming and these types of mini cards just flew off the shelves.
I found this just doing a cursory search of amazon and it looks like a go:mixer clone. No idea how reputable it is tho... https://www.amazon.com/JOYO-Interface-Professional-Equipments-Instruments/dp/B08V4N7XNT
Depending on what you need, you can get a female to male splitter, male to male splitter and male to female splitter.
All options are available on Amazon for under ten dollars with prime.
Here's a female to male option I found and they have male to female and other options as well.
ROCKRIX Female Speaker Adapter Splitter
fwiw i use 2 fairly no-name brand USB hubs with MPC and have no issues.
Hey, I managed to fix this and wrote up some documentation in a follow-up comment. Not sure it would help your situation much with the constant reactivations, but it might. Also, you may want to consider getting and ethernet-to-WiFi adapter so you don't have to physically connect the MPC to the router each time.
I started using a stylus (like this with the little disk on the tip) and it helps so much with selecting tiny little midi notes that I want to erase. The fastest way I've found to edit things is use the selection tool, and use shift + cut to delete things quickly. Also the Q Links have helps shortcuts for zooming. But yeah it can be pretty clunky
It's definitely being underpowered, might be ruining the mpc. Get one with 19 volts same voltage as the psu. The one I use https://www.amazon.se/dp/B07ZT9FFZ7?psc=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_D7H0QTTSSB034M2MXG9W
This is what I use (it tilts and holds the X quite well):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QV3W7VX?tag=amz-mkt-edg-us-20&ascsubtag=1ba00-01000-org00-win10-other-smile-us000-pcomp-feature-pcomp-feature-pcomp-wm-8&ref=aa\_pcomp
Using MPC main outs into 3.5mm stereo line in on the H2n with a cable like this:
I use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077B9W343/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
These stands are originally meant for laptops, but they work great for music equipment. They're fully adjustable and don't budge, even when you're going nuts on the MPC's pads. I have two, one for my Live II and one for my Hydrasynth Explorer.
MPC already does key detect and BPM detect during sampling workflow. It's far from perfect, but in my observation it's not much more error-prone than Serato—I'm also a DJ.
One trick I just discovered: I often create on MPC by creating a drum pattern then noodling on a synth over, either a keygroup program, or a separate synth. I then use my Android song key finder app to quickly figure out what direction I'm in (so if it's an external synth I can experiment and key match without going through the sampling workflow until I'm ready to do so), and then go from there.
That battery doesn't work with the provided power brick, which of course requires AC input. I use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SJ9SB6Y. So Baseus power bank to that USB-C to barrel DC adapter to MPC.
Yes, you're trusting the power bank to provide good, clean power, but the only way to avoid that risk is with an inefficient AC-capable battery (such as a UPS) which will weigh too much to work for portability, and will give you less usage time. I can tell you I've used my Baseus a lot in the past 3-4 months, with no problem.
If thats the case then all you really need is a phono preamp. Any mixer with a phono input will do.
http://www.djtechpro.com/eng/product-details.php?id=32
https://www.amazon.com/Pyle-Phono-Turntable-Preamp-Preamplifier/dp/B004HJ1TTQ/
You’ll also need quarter inch to rca cables
Maybe just get your desired cable length with a y splitter
Really what matters is that you don't undervolt the MPC. It needs 19V. You should be fine with any Power Delivery battery rated at 65W or greater, because they will operate at 20V. I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09N3PRJZK/ . The XT Power is also fine.
Which PNY card were you looking at? I'm gonna get this one.
PNY 64GB EliteX-PRO90 Class 10 U3 V90 UHS-II SDXC Flash Memory Card https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LJ3Z3PV/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_J0KTMMBT1WK4APRBKDBE

And there's always this one. Not the best features, but still less than $200 and 49 keys for learning basic piano.
Novation Launchkey 37 [MK3] MIDI Keyboard Controller for Ableton Live https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086N4W81X/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_ASSWP1RYP56JJ92Z6JZ2
37 Full size keys, 16RGB pads if you want to use them, knobs and DAW control/integration. Fits the budget.
Just check Amazon and pick one of the cheap options with the round clear tip. I got a regular 20 dollar two peice set and works great. I like the clear round tip as well so you can see better where your placing it.stylus
if you want an interface that's really going to work in standalone.. maybe try a https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UMC204HD-BEHRINGER/dp/B00QHURLCW/
(the 404HD is better all around, but the 204 is pretty hard to beat on price)

Got it working. Make sure Monterey is updated, and plug the mpk into the laptop via a usb hub. I’m using this one.

I tested this on my 2020 era Intel MacBook Pro AND on a 2021 m1 MacBook Air.
Both worked.
i also installed that unitor family driver v3. Not sure if that was important.
It didn’t work until I updated the laptop to the latest Monterey update.

Before that I was ripping YouTube videos to MP3 and them loading onto the MPC to trim down. This way is so much more efficient.
I have an MPC X though, not sure if other MPCs have the same input options. The MPC X basically has its own built-in audio interface.
its hilarious that people bother to downvote this.
the MPC is not all about the pads. i get you ;)

maybe you should elaborate on what kind of trouble you're having using the M-Audio-49 on your MPC
Great question!
The MPC Live II power requirements are 19v @ 3.42A. You can achieve that voltage/amperage with this battery: https://www.amazon.com/USB-C-Portable-Battery-Laptops-Cameras/dp/B072JWN6LC/ref=mp_s_a_1_3? (according to a forum, at full charge, you can get 4 hours of play time.) Make sure to set the battery output to DC and at the rating mentioned above! (19v, 3.42A)
It's a sampler, you don't upload samples. You get one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D5H8JW0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_BCV99QJJZ3YXA671YHNE And plug it into whatever device you like and play the mp3s on that device.
It's fine to keep your samples and projects on the same SD card, the MPC One doesn't have a hard drive slot, so get as big of an SD card as you can. I got a Lexar 1667x 256GB, fast and plenty of storage. If you don't need 256GB, the 128 is only $35, which is a really good deal also.
The 707 gets overshadowed by the MPC and Maschine because of its lack of sampling capabilities. The MPC and Maschine have better functionality for chopping and manipulating samples that the 707 simply can't do. The main advantages of the 707 are the Zen-Core engine for Sound quality and the 8 faders and 24 knobs for immediate track control.
The biggest difference is workflow, MPC and Maschine are best for performing finger drumming and sample chops, the 707 is designed for making melodies, chords and sound FX with the Built-in Zen-Core sounds. The built in instruments on the MPC are decent, but definitely don't compare to the sound quality of the Roland Zen-Core engine. People aren't sample off wax into a 707, and the HYPE/Tubesynth can't sound as "analog" as a Jupiter-8 or Juno 60, so it makes sense to have the best of both worlds. (Which is why I have the MC-101 and MPC Live).
It’s basically a laptop charger. You can buy generic options that work just fine, you just have to match the specs and the DC plug.
I have a link to a US charger, so I’d say look for a charger on amazon.co.uk that has the same specs.

If you’re dead set on getting it on to WiFi you can buy this or something like it. Make sure you get Ethernet > WiFi, I don’t know if the drivers on the MPC will recognize a USB to WiFi adapter.

Ive replaced all mine. makes a world of difference, went from a chore to a joy to use.
I only have a cheap £30 iron. nothing fancy.
the 'difficult' part is getting the old ones out cleanly. this can be a bit tricky at first.
id highly recommend cutting the legs off the switches first and removing each leg stump individually. trying to remove all 4 at once is much more difficult and pointless, as youre not keeping the parts.
It can be done with a pump/braid, but i bought a cheap heated electric desoldering gun which is much better. but i do a fair bit more diy so i use a lot.
it was still only about £40 tho, a super cheap one. https://cpc.farnell.com/duratool/d00672/desoldering-station-uk-eu-plug/dp/SD01384?st=desoldering
actually gone up a bit since i bought.
the soldering itself is dead easy, the switches clip in and hold themselves in place. so you just clip them in, turn over and solder each leg. soldering takes a bit of practise but this is relatively easy, practise first tho if youve never done before.

What I do is chop the section I want to know the note of. Then I export that small snippet of audio and drag it into this software called keyfinder. It will tell you the "Key" of the snippet. That normally is the note that you are trying to figure out. Here is the link to get the software (its free)

Hopefully this helps
Use the tap tempo to get the BPM. Use Keyfinder to find the key. Its FREE! Here is the link.

Just drag and drop the track into the key finder and run analysis and it tells you the key. I even use this when finding basslines. It works well.
Most DJ software has a key finder (Recordbox, serato).

Yeah, that’s what I meant. It means you need a different cable. Basically your phone is sending the left and the right signal down the same wire and the two signals are interfering with each other and canceling out some parts like the vocals. You need something like this where the TRRS end plugs into your phone and the TRS goes into your MPC. https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Ancable-Compatible-Smartphone-VideoMicro/dp/B088T1MRVQ/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=TRS+to+trrs&qid=1630909507&sr=8-6

I'm sure this will be more than fine. But if anybody can chime in that's cool. I really don't want to destroy my MPC One lol
I use one of these
I have an mpc one and it fits very well (with some extra room) and the rubber feet of the One catch the lip of the stand and it’s very secure. No movement whatsoever. And I know you mentioned wanting it on your desk, but this option works great for me, and pretty inexpensive. Check the dimensions of the table and your Live, though.

It's a bit expensive for what it is but I picked up this under tray for my setup. This should give you some room for that keyboard/mouse and maybe another piece of gear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HFDJCSL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_NYFSXAG2FMVF5A181P08?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

This one was cheap and matches the height of the MPC one, also the lip is large and doesn't interfere with the SD card/Heaphones jack.
I have one of these for the ONE which is great. Needs some thin tape on the bottom of the insert pole to stop it rattling when drumming but apart from that it’s perfect, easy to move around, and you can even get it to standing height. I find just a bit higher than the lowest height setting is best for me.
That could be the problem, the RCA end isn't ideal, I'd try a trs to quarter inch stereo tr cable like this or even just an aux cord with a trs to quarter inch adapter on it into one input just to test it. I saw below you said your buddy plugged a guitar in and the level on that was fine, that's even below line level so the input gain isn't the problem or that would have been inaudible
i bought a us version... this one here for 10 bucks a few months back as a bkup, it works
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S3DS14P
i assume that one you showed should work for the uk
many of these adapters are the same chinese manufacturer sold under different names
the us part number is KT60W190342B3, i dont know if the uk version uses a similar part number
Do not continue to use it. If the seller isn't able to provide you with one, they can be found fairly cheap on Amazon. Good luck.
Here's a link to one on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CW1KM78/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_7rPXFbS1DS25H
I got 2 for 39€ each. They can provide 5,9 and 12 Volts. Initialy I wanted to combine two 9V outlets to 18V for the MPC, but I just them with 12V and let the second charge the first one while using it.

For the battery, a couple of months ago I personally went for a Krisdonia 50000mAh Laptop Power Bank 5/8.4/9/12/16/20V and I can say it’s fabulous! Long hours of playing with my MPC One on a charge. Liberty!!
Thank you. I prefer the One's form factor, buttons and...price. There just aren't any compelling reasons for me to choose the Live over it. Love both, but as a day 1 former MPC 1000 owner this just feels right. I'm also in the middle of setting up a tiny stereo speaker system for my One that will give me that Live MK2 feature. I'm working with this puppy-

Will have an update this weekend. Thanks again.
This is the one for me, on a table too high for sitting with my aching bones and this can be changed for standing too, it’s just the right size for the ONE, most stands like this are too wide to fit and many have only 2 rests.
Looks great. The one I LOVE is the "ski's". I have 6 of these stands for various gear. Stable as hell... can fit small stuff, big stuff. Highly recommended. And easily foldable for portability.

Just LOVE that thing.
Sup. I see a lot of posts on here about stands for the MPC One. I was also one of those people looking for something affordable and studier than tipping it up on a pile of books.
I've used laptop stands for years for gear and found on that worked very well. This particular laptop stand is specifically good because
If you're interested, this is the stand I use and would highly recommend. No, it's not an affiliate link, just straight up from my order history. :) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SBM5TZH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Much love, y'all.
Ive heard you can use a portable battery with a mpc one. Like this. https://www.amazon.com/65Watts-Portable-Charger-Battery-Notebooks/dp/B07P87JTVT
Live 2 is around 300 more expensive! It looks bigger. Is it more cumbersome?
Is there anything that the live 2 does better than the mpc one that is substantial?
Thanks for all of your work Dave, I just have one more question-
Would this smaller capacity battery work? It seems to output the same power from its DC out as its big brother that you tested. I'm leaning more towards this unit since its dimensions are considerably smaller. I'd like to incorporate it into my permanent stand mod for my MPC One.

Thanks again, safe travels.
Make sure that the 3.5mm cable will fit deep enough into your phone. Some phones have plastic built up that requires the shroud on the 3.5mm plug to be really narrow for a cm. It may need a plug that looks more like this https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07RF8K6M2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xbKvFb9A1J87Z
For anyone hunting for an MPC Live stand... I just got one of these and it works like a dream - only £13 too!

Anyone using this successfully (beyond “I put it in and it works”)? Like successfully loading, running, saving large projects?
If you have a lot of gear like synths and drum machines, it's hard to go wrong with a good mixer. I got this Mackie mixer for my Live II and it's been great for consolidating and managing all my hardware.

So it’s not 14 hours but it is a long ass time. I got a good 2-3 hours before going down into the 70-80% range. This was on a less involved starting of a project. Then I plugged in eurorack and drained the battery to 14% before quitting, which maybe too 1.5 hours. I’ll have to run a more specific test.
It’s safe to say, though, that a battery that is 9”x3”x4” of solid battery is going to last longer than a 16x9x2” mpc live. They go 6 hours and have to fit speakers and everything else on there.
To me, the initial rate before eurorack appeared like it would have gotten me over 8 hours and possibly much longer. Maybe I’ll post when I test again. For $100 the nexpower battery on amazon seems like a great deal considering you can use it to power anything else you want essentially. It does have a fan though. One without a fan might be something others would want. I can’t remember how often it came on. But when your making sounds or headphones, you don’t hear it, and honestly with tinnitus I like a fan going anyways.

I do sort of wish I got a bigger battery, but that is only because I want to run analog hardware synths too, which use a lot of power. Maybe two batteries, but that may give me ground issues.
you need something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-TRS-male-two-cable/dp/B00JKK52MM
the 1/8 inch end will connect to your iphone adapter, and the 2 x 1/4 ends will connect to the sample inputs on your MPC. forget about the midi input/output for now. those are for connecting to other midi gear (like a synth or midi controller)
Dual 1/4" TS to Dual RCA

Don't know much about that cable, but you can get a cheap USB midi interface and set Live to send signal to the MPC via that (I use this: https://www.amazon.com/midiplus-Tbox2X2-USB-MIDI-Interfaces/dp/B00WU6F4M6). then just track your MPC back into live. The easiest way would be to then use an "external instrument" object form the instruments menu which will send midi and recieve audio from the same track within Live (once your midi out and Audio In settings are in place). If you know your way around Ableton, midi, and your audio interface it's not really that hard to do what you want. the hard part is just getting up to speed on that stuff.
