I sync my data with blockstack and use Nomie on my phone, tablet, and laptop. All MacOS/iOS if that matters. The sync is really fast so even if I switch from one device to another I can see all my history is saved.
For laptop I was using a bookmark on my browser but sometimes I have a million tabs/windows open and it would get lost. I found a program for turning web apps into desktop apps and now have a dedicated icon for Nomie no matter what I’m doing on my computer. For reference I used Firework: https://firework.cloud/

I've found an alternative, it doesn't has the same functionailities, but it covers some of those that I need.
It's called aTimeLogger.
On the negative side, it doesn't lets you customize the types of activities (they are all on/off timers). On the positive side, it produces push notifications that remind you whenever you pick the phone to update the activity you're at.
I use Daylio for tracking my mood - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.daylio
I like it because the daily notification to remind me to record is a little screen overlay that I can quickly tap. Only does 1-5 but works well for my purposes as something basic.
I use Google Fit for exercise and health. Love the auto-detection of activities. Keep track of weight with a nice trendline so I'm not bouncing all around the place.
Was using Rescue Time but found it to be a massive downer. Letting me know in detail how much time I waste… also a little privacy concerns because it's logging everything on my phone and PC.
I’ve used Mycroft in the past, it’s super easy to get setup. I was also playing around with open source IFTTT alternatives https://alternativeto.net/software/ifttt/?license=opensource
But, I haven’t had enough time to fully find the right solution, so I’m paying for IFTTT for the time being. However, if someone in the community finds the right solution, I’m more than happy to help get the API integrated and promote it.
This particular FAQ is tagged v3 but I couldn't tell from the FAQ that this feature was deprecated. :)

Thanks for replying and confirming that I wasn't missing the obvious! I just couldn't find the setting that the FAQ referred to.
uHabit/Loop is open source. I wonder how difficult it would be to port over for apple users. I use android and have been using the app in parallel to nomie. I belive its only local storage.

I’m going to start looking around for an open source Zapier/IFTTT alternative.
Anyone have any experience or suggestions? Beehive looks pretty interesting at first glance https://github.com/muesli/beehive
I'm building ActivityWatch and we're working on a "bring your own folder synchronizer" solution so that you can use Dropbox, Syncthing, Gdrive, etc (even rsync if you want) to sync your data across devices.
I guess Nomie works a bit differently, but I'm interested in reading the code.
I like the idea of cloud sync where the server is just a generic storage provider (less privacy concern, especially if you can encrypt the data at rest), but I wouldn't want to tie my application to Dropbox.
I don't know how Nomie works, but I would assume that it stores all times in UTC (without timezone, this is probably what you have in your exports if you look at the timestamps) and then simply displays the times in your current timezone. This is how we built it in https://activitywatch.net, and I expect our approach to be pretty standard.
