I highly recommend against using Flash. It's known to be very insecure and opens a bunch of vulnerabilities. If you want to watch Twitch without stutters, I would instead recommend streamlink. https://streamlink.github.io/
You claim it's a bad trend, but don't explain why.
EV certificates are expensive (as they require the issuer to research the applicant) and provide little additional benefit for the vast majority of sites.
The general public can't distinguish between EV and DV certificates, and most people already think a DV certificate does what an EV certificate does (i.e. confirming the site is actually who you think it is).
Now that virtually all browsers hide the fact that a site is secured, EV certificates are even less useful. Most modern browsers only indicate when a site isn't secured, making EV certificates an expensive status symbol.
DV certificates are now free, making virtually every site, commercial or personal, secured by default. Only financial sites (e.g. banks, Paypal, etc) benefit from EV certificates. And that's the way it should be. EV certs should be rare, and only used where fraud is likely.
Tell me, what would an EV certificate do for portableapps.com? I've never heard of that site, but I checked it out, and can't think of why it would need an EV cert. How do you think an EV cert would benefit the site?
NS for pm looks to be available here
The error you are seeing is nothing to do with pm build. It's to do with the blocklist.
Change settings on the security tab in prefs and you should be good to go
What? You mean Pale Moon isn't really "Your browser, your way?" That it isn't really "offering full customization and a growing collection of extensions and themes to make the browser truly your own?"
I'm shocked!
But in all seriousness, while you're certainly not alone in your concerns, I wouldn't delude yourself that it's going to get any better. The truth is that what YOU may want the browser to do and be is likely quite different from what Moonchild, Tobin, and others developing it want it to do and be.
The direction Pale Moon will be taking? Answer: Their browser, Their way.
Plan accordingly.
I don't mean free as in price, but free as in freedom.
It wouldn't be allowed for the same reason Debian won't distribute Firefox - it has a license that restricts certain freedoms, such as the right to redistribute a modified version with the Pale Moon branding.
>Is uBlock any better that ABL?
Yes.
Any firefox.xpi build from here should be OK:
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases
Yes, 1.13.8 ought to be fine, but in that case - well, in any case really, install the ublock origin and umatrix updater from here:
http://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/
This extension intercepts ublock update requests and sends them to github.
I just use uBlock Origin
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock#installation
it works out of the box with no special tweaks needed for Pale Moon
Subscribe to the "Adblock Warning Removal List" and "Anti-Adblock Killer" under 3rd party filters and that should remove the majority of issues with sites blocking adblock. (if they don't work first thing to try is the [Purge all caches] button and let it rebuild your lists)
the other one you can try if those lists don't work is right clicking and selecting 'block element' and choosing the overlay with the warning on it. Doing this I have bypassed many adblock detection pages and been able to use the site normally.
For what it's worth I was able to hunt down the Mypal source code and put it in my own repository. (Link below)

Hopefully that will come in handy if someone decides to step up. (I'm not a programmer so I can't)
Release notes: With the last release the "Fuel" components and "Firefox GUID" were restored. I just updated yesterday since I haven't had time to update since June, and all is fine. As always, backup your profile if you may wish to roll back. https://www.palemoon.org/releasenotes.shtml
I posted this a long time ago and looking at how pale moon browser team doesn't care or doesn't exist and hasnt responded to their old user, I have stopped using it and as a result what I dont use doesnt get recommended. Adguard is a very powerful tool that is available on all platforms. I have been using it across all apps, software and browsers but only pale moon browser causes this issue. No problem, pale moon has lost a user not I have because there are billions of browsers out there for all types of platforms. For adguard, you can read through their site. I am using their extension and desktop software. Now pale moon browser is not same as it was before. Light, easy and simple. Now it consumes same resources to run a few sites. I tried solving this issue of certificate by myself but complications of outdatedness of this browser, makes this a big avoid.
It's not not ABL sucks, It's that Easy List sucks.
Add Peter Lowe's list from Here and your issues should^* be resolved.
(^* or at least it resolved mine)
You can make a custom URL search which might be good enough for you:
https://www.startpage.com/do/search?lui=english&language=english&cat=web&query=%s
as the location, and give it a keyword of "s" or whatever you want.Just some basic advice to the general public, never upload any personal information to any online cloud services even if you think it is trusted and safe. Instead you an offline alternative like https://keepassxc.org/ which stores your information offline in an encrypted key which you can manually use in your browser such as bookmarks and logins.
Pale Moon allows you to switch to a Firefox compatible user agent in the settings. I don't know if that'll give you what you want, if not doofy666 has a good recommendation.
As for VimFX, I don't know if there is a Pale Moon specific alternative, but an older version of the addon does work: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/vimfx/versions/?page=2#version-0.12.0
You can just use NoScript with PM. When you go to the NoScript website it shows you the most current version that still works with PM - in this case it should be 5.1.9 -> https://noscript.net/getit
"Longer-term we plan to fully deprecate and remove support for the traditional RDF install manifest in favor of a more optimal content description method." (https://www.palemoon.org/roadmap.shtml)
My knowledge about add-ons is very limited. What is this "optimal content description" (OCD) method? How can I convert a RDF into a OCD, to get an add-on installed?
I had accidentally triggered the update to 29.2.0, from the update popup coming up, whilst I was typing a post on another subreddit.
Checking the PM forums, to see if there was a permanent way to cancel the update, I couldn't see a way to do that, but I did learn of a tool that I really should have learned of, far earlier. The Pale Moon Profile Backup Tool - https://www.palemoon.org/backuptool.shtml.
I downloaded the full installer for my currently installed version of PM, then downloaded the backup tool, closed PM, and ran the backup tool to make my profile backup. I'm glad I did stop and think first, instead of running about like a chook with its head cut off. I saw the forum threads.
On permitting PM 29.2.0 to install, more than half the extensions, and the theme I use, were disabled as being not compatible with 29.2.0. I figured, "Stuff that for a joke. I'm flamin' well NOT going to use such a broken browser". Uninstalled PM. Reinstalled the version of PM I'd downloaded as a safeguard, then used the backup tool to restore my PM profile. Worked perfectly. Complete restore to PM working how I want. Then set PM to never check for updates.
Q: Now what was done wrong by PM in this update?
A: On clicking on the Update, failing to redirect users to the page for The Pale Moon Profile Backup Tool, with a clear warning to download and run the tool before doing the update.
Failing to code a check in the update, to see if a user has a profile backup made, before permitting this update to proceed.
So here's an initially dismaying fact about PM. In November of last year, PM had just released version 27. Just last month they released version 27.6. But this is a bit deceptive because if you look at the archived release notes (https://www.palemoon.org/releasenotes-archived.shtml) you can see that PM has actually been updated pretty regularly. So maybe MoonChild just doesn't see the need to be all about version 27 to 28 to 29 in order to market the browser like PM and Chrome do. Or something. IDK
Wut.
Of course Vivaldi is open source, and here is the source code for Vivaldi. Add that to the Chromium source code and you've got Vivaldi.
They don't mix and distribute the Vivaldi source code with the core Chromium source due to licensing restrictions, but that doesn't mean Vivaldi is not open source. All the source is available to you for download, review, alter, and compile.
Why are there so many people like you perpetuating this bullshit about Vivaldi not being open? Are you blinding parroting google misinformation or something?
So I solved it by removing the FoxyProxy extension and then entering my proxy in Firefox network preferences.
The problem is my proxy requires user:pass to work, so when I tried accessing a site Firefox asked me to enter the username and password. Frankly I had no idea Firefox had that option. So I entered the user:pass and it worked.
But then after restarting the browser it promoted me for user:pass again, so I went in network preferences and ticked the "Do not prompt for authentication if password is saved" box. And now it seems to work fine.
So I guess problem solved now. I get to have my proxy, and I get to not have the title on top above the menu bar. Done and done :)
So for some reason the FoxyProxy extension makes the problem reappear.
I can make it go away by diabling and enabling the Hide Caption Title bar extension, but when I restart the browser the problem is there again.
I tried FoxyProxy Standard and Basic, and it's the same problem.
Any solutions?
Hi, did you get this to work? I checked on one of my tablets (using CyberGhost; I have another VPN but it's not connecting for some reason). I was able to pull up Pale Moon and visit Web sites with no trouble. I can't find anything special in the Pale Moon settings that addresses this, nor do I recall fiddling with any VPN or proxy settings in Pale Moon.
You might try posting your question in the Pale Moon for Android section of the Pale Moon forum. You will probably get a timely response there.
