From the Amazon description:
"The Brian Jonestown Massacre are probably best known for their leader Anton Newcombe’s incendiary persona, as captured in the controversial 2004 rockumentary Dig! - which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance - but what isn’t known is the truth behind the making of the film, or the true story of the band since their formation in early 1990s San Francisco. Until now.
Writer, actor, and musician Jesse Valencia spent ten years uncovering the mysteries of the band and the film, during which time he has traveled from San Francisco to Denver, Portland to Tucson, and beyond, gathering pieces of the band’s history and putting them together, clue by clue, until he found it.
Presented as a personal narrative and compiled from hundreds of sources and interviews with key members of The Brian Jonestown Massacre - including Joel Gion, Rick Maymi, Frankie Emerson, Jeff Davies, Dean Taylor, Miranda Lee Richards, and Peter Hayes - as well as members of The Dandy Warhols, Dig! director Ondi Timoner, and countless other figures from both the film and from the band’s greater history, Keep Music Evil is the definitive work on the band and their enigmatic leader.
Keep Music Evil also tells the stories of the creation of every album the band have released during their three-decade career, offering insight in Anton and his collaborators’ working methods, and provides an in-depth look at the making of Dig!, giving deeper context to the events as portrayed, correcting misinformation, and deconstructing the film as a whole. It also features rare, candid, and never-before-seen photographs of the band from throughout their career."
I made a compilation record for you guys comprising the tracks on high rotation for me this week. Includes two tracks I discovered here and subsequently purchased, so think of this as a virtual cassette :)
I took care with the id3 tags so it won't scatter to the four corners of your carefully organized iTunes library. While there may be some obvious and "popular" choices on here, you may find a nugget or two that might inspire you to pick up the record.

Well in that case, there was a compilation put out back in 2006 by Kemando Records called "Invaders" that highlighted a bunch of unknown bands that have since gone on to have great success. There is a track on there, "By the Mark", from a band called Danava that I fell in love with. Its pretty spacey, progy, heavier psych but wicked nevertheless.
This Myspace link is the best I could find.
If you like it, include it. If not, no hard feelings. Cool idea, btw.
I don't have much to contribute but I googled "raga rock" and found a playlist curated by David Byrne (whom I admire greatly). Looks like he does a monthly themed playlist... I know what I'm listening to for the next few hours.
Here's Byrne's playlists: https://www.mixcloud.com/todomundo/ the raga rock one is June 2014, just scroll down.
Just the one. Well...technically...there is one other but that album ended up being half of the self titled album.
he started out as a man with a cassette... https://www.discogs.com/Morgan-Delt-Psychic-Death-Hole/release/4577439 who got approached to turn that into an album with trouble in mind records, who then got picked up by Sub Pop for this new one. Dream journey!
Howlin' Wolf came out with an album in 1969 called "This Is Howlin' Wolf's New Album". The album cover is great. It talks about how even Howlin' Wolf didn't like that album (the critics seemed to agree with Howlin'). This album contains psychedelic takes on several of his standards, including "Spoonful" and "Evil".
I love the album, even though allmusic, Howlin' Wolf, and almost everyone else does not.

Hi everyone. Here is a mixtape I made containing some tracks that were recommended to me over the course of a few months here at r/psychedelicrock. I added some of my own faves (no tame impala or dead meadow or dead skeletons, let's assume everyone knows and loves them already) and it's a pretty sweet primer for those looking for some new music.
All tracks are high quality, and meta data is fixed so the album won't scatter thither and yon thru your itunes.
Here's the tracklist:
Panic in Babylon -- Brian Jonestown Massacre
Just Do It -- The Bats
Fall -- Darker My Love
Nothing's Going to Happen -- David Kilgour (ex The Clean)
Fuzz -- Fuzz's Fourth Dream
Dark Eyes -- Crystal Stilts
Coming Down the Stairs -- Endless Boogie
Hang a Picture -- Thee Oh Sees
Torbjorn Abelli -- My Brother the Wind
Tell Me What's Inside Your Heart -- Ty Segall Band
99 -- Follakzoid

Thanks man. I got a few instrumental jams with that instrument streaming at
https://thedanburylie.bandcamp.com/album/boo-zoo-key
or on Spotify at
Check em out if you can!
Glad you liked it. I wish I had the time to upload this in a less restricted plataform, since I know that Spotify is not an option for everyone, however you can use this playlist converter so you can import it on another plataform: https://soundiiz.com/
Cheers and thanks for the feedback!
Okay, here's a link to vol II and Vol I, spam filter gods willing:

Like I said, it's supposed to be a primer for newcomers to psych music, so forgive some obvious choices. Vol 1 "Psych Out" has some repeat offenders as well as some more stuff from yesteryear.

Hi everyone. I am always on the lookout for the next band that is going to blow my mind, and like most people here, I get a kick out of making playlists of music and trying to pare it down over a week or two into something that will fit on one CD. Which I then use in my car.
I think most people come here to find new stuff to listen to as well as share their enjoyment with others. So in the spirit of this, here's a link to a recent compilation I made. All tracks are high quality, and meta data is fixed so the album won't scatter thither and yon thru your itunes.

... from the debut of Glass Prism, Poe through the Glass Prism. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like, and it actually sounds pretty groovy.
I picked up something similar during record store day last year and it is a trip for sure: http://www.allmusic.com/album/pop-yeh-yeh-psychedelic-rock-from-singapore-and-malaysia-1964-1970-vol-1-mw0002464379
Its one of my favorite things to throw on when my folks come over just to see the look on their faces ;']
Unknown Mortal Orchestra's European Tour 2015 Poster. The person who made is pretty awesome.
About every compilation of African music that has the word fuzz, funk or psych in it!
Dear Psychonauts,
I am writing a paper on psilocybin and I need some Data to spread some awareness about the power of psychedelics. I would be very thankful if you would take this short survey and maybe send it to some of your friends. The world will become a better place if we take many small steps. I hope my paper can be one of those small steps. Thank you for considering.

This list has made me discover several great psych bands. Really recommend you to check it out. The list goes from worst to best so start at the bottom and work your way up.
I see. Maybe it is because English is not my first language, but lyrics are not very important for me. I see a voice more as an extra instrument which is able to transfer the mood or meaning of the music without actively listening to the lyrics.
As for recommendations, there was a big prog/folk/psych scene in Sweden (and Scandinavia in general I believe), of which some bands sang in English and some didn't. This compilation gives a general overview. I haven't heard the compilation myself, but I have listened to some of the artists on it and they are definitely worth a listen.
Really? Sorry about that. I actually downloaded it from here but thought a PB link would go down a bit better. I'll edit my post, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Enjoy the album!

Not really a "greatest hits" album, but you might like it. :)
Be sure to check the related albums as well.
If you're of a slightly conspiratorial bent, check out Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon, and also Gary Lachman's Turn Off Your Mind provide a paranoid-but-all-too-plausible perspective on the psychedelic heyday.
Thanks for posting this album, one it took me many listens to grow to love.
I'm currently reading John French's (Drumbo) extensive account of his time as a member of the Magic Band in the 60s and 70s, including his time working in the infamous culty Trout House.
John French's is more expensive (£13) than an average Kindle book, but given his nugatory income from the Beefheart enterprise, it's a small payback for all he contributed in developing, arranging, transcribing and teaching onward instrumental parts on TMR and other Beefheart albums.
