So I got most of the way there, then realized Tom's Hardware has me beat. I'm still unconvinced that the i7 is worth the extra 95 bucks for actual gaming, but This is damn near what I had built out anyway.

I like how they cut it in half for normal 10, and then turned around and increased. This was for the casuals, which I am fine with seeing as im a casual!
Not a member of the guild but i'd like to give a helping hand. In my experience gaming headsets have great speakers but not so much can be said about most mics. microsoft lifechat lx 3000 headset i use has to have the best mic for its price and beats some of the higher tier gaming headsets in costs. However, not for music use, good for talking and all that but for base and movie use, i would not recommend it. For reference, we use these at my last work place when talking to customers in customer support, it is more or less built for that purpose but as i said, not that good sound.
It goes for 27$ on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-JUG-00001-LifeChat-LX-3000-Headset/dp/B000J4WPW8
Hope it helps :)
