Used these NFC tags and stuck one on the underside of my ring.

Now when I want to switch to my AirPods I just need to tap my ring.
This is where I got my ring.
These Timeskey NFC Stickers from Amazon work flawlessly with the latest iOS beta.
I use them to Airplay my currently playing music directly to my Apple TV when I get home and scan it.
Download the installer and WeatherWalls from the Notion page.
I listened to your feedback as a lot of smaller device users had low quality images. That should be fixed now.
Oh and yes, there is a new variation!
Some asked me for my PayPal info to buy me a coffee. I made a link: paypal.me/WeatherWalls.
These tags hold less data.. but shortcuts only needs the tag’s ID to tell them apart. It’ll fit a lot better than that one.

Yes, the phone will be able to distinguish between different NFC tags. My understanding is that the tags have identifiers and with a tag writer, you can put information within the tag’s content. The phones just use the NFC tag’s identifier, which is asked for when you create a new automation with a tag.
They don’t need to be programmed in order to be used with the automation; at least the ones I linked below, it was just scan and go.
NTAG215 - GoToTags White NFC Sticker - 30mm - Works with TagMo - 25 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SJQKB6/
I didn’t need to write to the NFC tags because the iPhone XS Max works with just a pre-formatted sticker
I can’t find the link to the Windows Mobile version, but back in those days, there was an app called Mobliza that was basically AIM’s away messages, but for texting. There was a feature that would let Mobliza “talk to people for you” by trying to understand whatever your friend sent you.
Of course, even now chatbots aren’t super great at that, and this was over ten years ago. It mostly just ended up sending back either meaningless or smart ass responses.
The best you can do is use a one-tap approach. To do this, you need an app that can send you a notification when you enter an area. The notification contains a URL for your shortcut. Tap the notification and your shortcut runs.
Apps that can do this include IFTTT, Stringify, and Launch Center Pro. If you have multiple locations that could trigger your shortcut, I tend to like Stringify best. For example. For a single location, try IFTTT or LCP. An IFTTT example:
For those interested, I also ‘released’ a new version with some bug fixes and better image quality on some devices. Visit the Notion page for more info.
Go here:
https://ifttt.com/maker_webhooks
(Click Documentation on top right for more info.)
You can set up applets that are ran under certain events. To trigger the event you can send a request using the "Get contents of" Shortcut action. The shortcut should open a URL like

This iOS 12 Shortcut automatically activates your iPhone camera during a police stop
It worked instantly! I was hesitate at first, but it caches the file and loads without lag. The other solution was running audio files on ProPresenter. However, it was a nightmare. Shortcuts, surprisingly, was far better.
To let you in on a little secret i discovered, NordVPN actually supports deep links that a undocumented. I played around with it last weekend, and discovered the following links: nordvpn://connect? - quick connect as they now support it. nordvpn://disconnect? - disconnect same as they now implemented.
The difference is, however, that the first supports selection of country like so: nordvpn://connect?country=[country code here] The country code supports short format or full length, i can’t get it to work with US, which is my most frequently used one... I made a short shortcut to show how it works:
Hope this might work in the meantime, until they support i natively!
I use these NFC stickers for similar things. Very reliable and cheap. I have an automation that connects to my cars Bluetooth and starts playback on whatever media is open at the time of scan.

In re to how it works with IFTTT, see the video here:
Also, see This IFTTT applet:
Someone asked, so...
In the gif: A calendar event is added. Later, IFTTT runs an applet at the start of the event and issues a rich notification. The notification contains the Shortcuts URL scheme with the name of a shortcut and data from the event. Tap the notification and it launches IFTTT which launches Shortcuts which runs the shortcut.

Cons: (at least to some people)
Did I miss anything? :)
Alfred workflows are additions created for the Alfred app available for Mac and iOS (remote app). https://www.alfredapp.com by Running with Crayons Ltd.
Alfred is a fantastic app that puts all others to shame when it comes to...well...just about anything.
Caveat - Siri and Finder have definitely improved search integration on iOS and Mac, and Launchbar and Keyboard Maestro are contenders as well, but when it comes to quickly doing everything, Alfred is unstoppable!
It’s been around for a few years now and just keeps getting better (and no, I don’t work for Running Woth Crayons and am not gaining anything by sharing this info).
Not a shortcut but this is the only thing I know of that syncs between Music services. Worked well for me switching from Tidal to Qobuz in the past.
Thanks!
To do similar ones, is it a simple matter of just encoding to BASE64 with a tool like this and then setting up the shortcut as usual? https://www.browserling.com/tools/file-to-base64

You could use a dumb mechanical timer plugged into the smart plug. When the smart plug is turned on, the mechanical timer will run and can be set to go on/off every 30 minutes, though it wouldn't always start in the ON position, when you turn the smart plug on it may have 28 minutes left of OFF.
You could overcome both those shortcomings using another smart plug plugged into the first smart plug. I know with a Sonoff S26 you can program it so that when it first gets power it turns on the device, then use Loop Timer to alternate state every 20 minutes.
I keep recommending this book to people, and think it’s right up your alley:
Automate the Boring Stuff with Python: Practical Programming for Total Beginners https://www.amazon.com/dp/1593275994/
I love programming and have been doing it for almost 20 years semi- or fully-professionally. I still love the hell out of it even all these years later. I’d even say this is the best time ever to get into it.
TunnelBear also supports shortcuts. You can create a shortcut for a specific country but it suffers from only being discoverable by Siri Suggestions. So you have to connect to the country you want to create a shortcut for and then hope it appears in the suggestions section. The actions I have seen so far are; Connect VPN (connects to previous destination), Tunnel to {Insert Country} (based previous connections), Disconnect VPN.
This would be great. For this to work NordVPN needs to update their app for Shortcuts support. Or if you’re using an OpenVPN profile in the OpenVPN app, they need to support shortcuts as well. Currently there is no way to do it that I’m aware of.
It is a simple "connector" service that does "if THIS than THAT" types of automations in the cloud.
the thing that makes IFTTT so interesting for Pushcut is that A SH*T TON of services connected - especially in the personal/home automation area!
Hue, Sonos, iRobot, Alexa, most Google stuff, all sorts of smart locks and doors, and possibly your blinds, your coffee maker, and your neighbors cat - all connectable with IFTTT.
Sadly, IFTTT doesn't allow sharing of Recipes, BUT, will go through the steps. You will need an account at IFTTT.com which is free. IFTTT(If This Then That) is a service that lets you set up triggers based on location. Once you sign in, you create a trigger based on location and then set the location to be your office. You can enter the address and then zoom into your office though keep in mind that there is an accuracy limit, i.e. within 1000 feet or so but IFTTT will tell you if you need to zoom out. Once you enter the address then this creates the "trigger" or the IF THIS part of the applet. For the THEN part, you will be Selecting the Google Sheets Service from IFTTT, and then select add a row to a spreadsheet. In this portion of the setup you will be passing time and date from the TRIGGER(date and time) and then you also have the option to add a Google Sheet Formula that computes duration. Each additional column of data is seperated by 3 vertical slashes. I will be working on a Reddit post so I can include images which will make this alot clearer, so check back here in a day or two.
I have this using IFTTT. You can trigger it on phone or Apple Watch. Actual phone number calls automated voice reads a script. You can even edit it.
Get yourself out of an awkward situation (US Only) https://ifttt.com/applets/SSbBHMXD
Never actually used it but it’s available if you want it.
What the sticky doesn’t tell you is that a one-tap approach can be automated with apps like IFTTT or Launch Center Pro. For example:
This approach meets some people’s needs. The same is possible for location. A detailed discussion is here:
Isn't possible with Shortcuts. The app doesn't run in the background to fetch data all time.
Use ifttt.

Rundown:
- if the shortcut does not receive input, it asks you for it
- takes the inputted (is that a word?) search terms and replaces spaces with "+" because that is how Google handles spaces in search queries
- URL encodes query
- adds query to YouTube search URL
- uses Get File of Type "com.apple.webarchive” to get the results
- gets all search result URLs
- gets the first URL
- modifies URL to be opened directly in the YouTube app
- shows you the URLs
I was able to figure out a lot of this by experimenting with the URLs via the View Content Graph
action in Shortcuts. I also suggest checking out the following if you want! :)
- info about Google search parameters
- a Shortcut I made that includes various YouTube app URLs, and others
Well at least we have a temporary work around, that’s better than none. Mine still works by toggling the day, it doesn’t have to be the week.
Also at least we can change them to scheduled delivery instead of immediate. If you haven’t tried what they were talking about, that’s where you find that. screenshot
Ahh I see what you mean now. Shortcuts couldn't tap/click that item for you other than maybe using voice control but it's not a very practical method to hear Siri speak aloud. You might be able to get the list of your recent items from the API though. Documentation here
permutations. So from your link, thank you for that.
I have a set of 12, let’s say units of something in different colours For ease of understanding. In how many ways can I arrange these numbers? 12 x 11 x 10 …. X 1 = 479k combinations I want these to be actual outputs of possible combinations of these 12 values to be put into text. So I can analyse the data.
I still can't figure out what you want your output to actually be with 12, 12, 12, 12, in that list you've given. Are you looking for all possible combinations of 4 attacks or ?
Here take a look at this.
Thank you so much! I have a lot of things planned, like YouTube support etc. Every cent helps and goes towards supporting the shortcut.
Here's the link for support: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/saif
Thank you again! 🙏
Sure! You can side load two apps at a time and that has to be refreshed once every 7 days if you have a normal Apple ID (not a developer account... otherwise it is extended to 365 days)
Here is the website for AltStore- https://AltStore.io
Hazel and Keyboard Maestro are both Mac automation apps. They could run a shortcut when a file is added to a folder or a hard drive is connected etc.
On the Mac you can also have the calendar app open a file when the event is due. Since you can export shortcuts as little applet-like executables, you can add those to the calendar to run at specific times.
Another way would be setting Shortcuts to run from the terminal using Cron jobs.
Hm. You're right. Seems like web.stagram.com changed their html. I'll look into it but I'm busy atm so it might take longer than usual.
If you want to download that profile right now and you have a PC then try RipMe - it's an open source downloader for many sites and also supports instagram.
I adapted one of my existing shortcuts and wrote you this:
It uses the CloudConvert and requires a free API key. The shortcut will guide you through the process of signing up for one.
I’m using the Open URL action and passing in this url to open Howard 100
https://www.siriusxm.com/pre_dl_ch_icc?type=live&channelName=Howard100
I guess in theory you could use this URL pattern for other actions and stations
Here It is, I love it. With the shortcuts you seem to need to make a snippet of what you want to do than run it. That’s the important part run it. It seems that the terminus app only shows recent events in shortcuts, so when you haven’t done anything recently the actions don’t show up. Annoying but whatever.
To clarify: I love this /r/shortcuts community, but it seems to be way too serious most of the times, so I just posted it have some more chilled out comments. :)
If you are wondering PornCuts is a torrenting shortcut that works with a specific seedbox that has a proper API to make use of Shortcuts called "put.io" and some torrent sites that have porn only. I can use it to display a random content, or some search result based on categories I have in DataJar, it returns the first picture of the torrent post and prompts a like or dislike button. like for download dislike to move onto the next one.
It is hard to share, because instead of making one big shortcut I would make 20+ small ones that pass results onto each other.
No, pythonista can't run scripts directly on the shortcuts app unlike scriptable. It does have integration with stuff like camera, photos, reminders, appex(share sheet), bluetooth etc.
Here's a helpful docs page:
Per documentation
http://omz-software.com/pythonista/docs/ios/canvas.html
> The canvas module contains functions for creating non-interactive, 2D vector graphics on iOS. It is suitable for drawing simple graphs/diagrams or line art.
> All functions work on a single canvas that is shown in the output area of Pythonista. Images created this way can be exported to the device’s photo library or copied to the clipboard, though it is currently not possible to do this programmatically.
Those require
are for Node.js (server-side JavaScript). You want client-side JavaScript. Fortunately, there are tools like Webpack and Browserify that bundle all the dependencies (the require
s) in a single file, easily included in a webpage or (in your case) a shortcut.
Have you tried [GoodTask3]( http://goodtaskapp.com/ )? It's effectively a task management app that uses Reminders as its database. I was previously a Todoist diehard, but wanted to stay more within the Apple ecosystem (for security reasons, for the purposes of using Siri more effectively, because I'm already paying for iCloud). GoodTask is really cool and it gives you a lot more features than what you have in Reminders. Also highly customizable.
Sure thing. You can use Zapier to create a webhook endpoint that you send data to. It then updates your sheet.
A tutorial can be found here:
Looks neat! For the Android users among us, if you're looking for something similar, the Jsho app supports direct sharing to AnkiDroid, just hold on a word and select 'Send to AnkiDroid'
I know this is the shortcuts sub, just wanted to add it for people who happen to also have an android, and could benefit from that info :)
Thanks. I was looking at the Meross which says supports Apple HomeKit, but in the description, seems to say I need a HomePod, AppleTV, or iPad for a ‘HomeKit bridge’… or hub?

I’m a fan of low-energy Bluetooth instead of WiFi. When I’m not home my eve smartplug shuts down my modem, router, Apple TV, tv, and stereo. I’ve had to run a shortcut to start everything up when I get home, but I just learned there’s a motion sensor that I think will automate it.
I have several of this smart bulb. I also have the GE equivalent, but I haven’t plugged it in yet.
These are the ones I have. They seem to work pretty well.

I got these on Amazon and have been working well. Just wish they were black.
Beta 2 feels fairly solid so far. I’d wait and see what people say about the public beta, maybe 2 more weeks for that.
I ordered some GoToTags from Amazon that have been working reliably (placed under side tables and behind light switch wall plates.)

If ExpressVPN supports OpenVPN (I don’t use them myself but it looks like they do provide OpenVPN config files) you can use Passepartout which supports Shortcuts.
having issues with NXP tagwriter or the tag itself, I bought these https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B015UMPVNI/ today and trying to format them in NXP tag writer with my Nexus 6. I've tried the URL/URI link option but the my XS max does not automatically read them. I have to use the NXP tagwriter or NFC reader app for it to recognize the tags. Am I missing something or just chose the wrong NFC tags?

My URI is formatted like this:
Title: Title
URI: shortcuts://run-shortcut?name=[shortcut]

It doesn't like the URL option it says "Invalid URL Prefix, so it formats in URI
I tried the text option as well
I don't seem to get it to get the dropdown that asks to run the shortcut

EDIT: NVM figured it out, you have to leave the Title out of it, it is only the URI text, if you have title info it doesn't get the dropdown automatically...
So its Link > URI Type > URI: shortcuts://run-shortcut?name=[shortcut] and make sure Description is left blank! all other options are default
NO what I am saying I want to directly place a URL from a weather Website let's say for Boston. So it always only tells me the weather conditions for Boston. A lot of weather websites tell you the weather conditions as per city right ? That's what I want it here. is there anyway that I can without having the Location Services on I can directly put a URL or API from a Weather Website like for e.g. something like this
https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/boston/02108/weather-forecast/348735
If you are still looking for something like this, I can't recommend a StreamDeck highly enough:

I love mine so much, I bought a second so I have one at home + office.
I literally bought it just to play & pause my music because that alone is a huge time saver, but it can do SO much more, it's not even funny......
Absolutely love it!
I used an Android app called Shortcut Maker, but I'm not sure if it's available for iOS.

Just enable restrictions on their device. It will disable the private browsing window option after you restrict adult websites.

On the current iOS 13 beta they moved accessibility to the top menu level in settings -> Voiceover -> Spoken Content -> Speak Screen button.
This feature works great, but if you want multiple seamless articles read back to back you will want to try the Pocket app. You can add your content through the share sheet and then hit Play All in the app, lock the screen and listen. Happy listening!
You can’t in a simple way like you can on iOS, but you can do anything you can in Terminal. If you enable ssh, you can use the Run Script over SSH to run any terminal command. You can do things like start apps or change things in the system with this.
You could use a "regular expression" to extract the text, but you will have to learn regexes, and that is involved, and a gateway to harder things like Perl and shell, and likely to ruin your life.
You could extract the text with a Run JavaScript action, but you'll need to learn JavaScript and the HTML DOM which has its own, slightly more hip, perils. This approach probably makes the most sense.

I designed the icons myself so you’re on your own there.
Each tag has a different set of variables depending on the need. So the tag that sets the timer for the washer kinda just looks like “start time for 70 minutes and vibrate device” really nothing fancy.
The one for the snake feeding is “vibrate device, add 7 days to current date, add ‘Feed Snake’ from ‘adjusted date to adjusted date’”
I think the vibrate device works best for me. Some people like to set a notification but I find that really Unnecessary and really annoying. I just want to know that the shortcut ran.
It does not. I used Hotspot Shield is pretty decent. But like you said it doesn't have that option. I just switched to Nord VPN. You can pick and choose when Nord turns the VPN on and off. That includes Wi-Fi and Cellular Data. And membership pricing is very affordable. I highly recommend it
I mean, you can say the same for ANY other app you download from the AppStore right? You don’t know who exactly created your bank app, all you see is most likely your banks company name as the developer when it’s probably just one developer working on it at home.
You may be knew around here as Toolbox Pro has been a staple for shortcuts actions for at least 2 years now and Actions has been around I want to say close to a year. There’s also many other apps available that bring along things that shortcuts alone can’t such as Charty, Gizmo Pack, and the over 500 apps listed here.
Besides, my comment was referring to what you posted your discussion on. Toolbox Pro and aacrikns as well as the others provided so much more than what I’ve described above.
Bought these a couple years ago. They support NTAG-215 which is conveniently the same programming as Nintendo Amiibo characters/cards. Only used about a dozen of them so far, but they work great for triggering shortcuts.
I got a pack of these - they seem to work well.

For in the car I have some old hotel room keys in the sun visor clips that’s also work well.
So if you download IFTTT, I have an applet that takes your last liked video and adds it’s info to Notion. Then you would create a shortcut to trigger an IFTTT applet, and select this one. Here’s the link for it if you’re interested Add Liked Youtube Videos to Notion
Follow the flow in app. I'll be adding clearer tutorials before the app launches.
Basically:

Thank You
On amazon product pages, the ASIN is in the URL, and probably a lot easier to match, and less likely to change over time. For instance:
Minus a bunch of noise, is just:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QPVMNNA
And "B00QPVMNNA" is the ASIN. A regex like /dp/([^/?]+)
should match, but you'll probably have to escape the forward slashes (/), I dunno I have not uses regexes in a Shortcut yet.
Yes you can do this using https://www.amazon.com/Thomptronics-Virtual-Buttons/dp/B08259XK1Z. They give you 1 virtual ‘button’ for free which can trigger a routing via a webhook that they host. More buttons are charged using Patreon (they use Patreon for the free version to in order to link the account with Alexa).
The Bluetooth speaker needs not have an inactive timeout. I use this model: https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Speakers-Bluetooth-Wireless-Portable-Shower-Speaker/dp/B010OYASRG
If the speaker is always available, the action is Change playback destination.
You are going to want to look into IFTTT.
The first three integrations you make are free, after that it will cost you. You'll need to install the IFTTT app on your iPhone (or Android as well), and your PC.
in your homekit app set up a home automation when last person leaves and convert it to shortcut
to set up a webhook via ifttt create an ifttt.com account and download the app on your device. then visit this link: https://ifttt.com/maker_webhooks/settings
you need to create an applet (which contains a trigger and a function). your trigger will be your webhook which runs whenever 'get contents of url' runs. your function will be ios notification.
Wouldn’t this drain your battery pretty fast ? And I think WiFi can disconnect by itself in standby mode, no ? If you have router like TP link or others, maybe you could just set IFTTT to sent you push notification when certain device will disconnect from your network. For instance, this one for TP-Link would work great for you: https://ifttt.com/applets/YpUsHwQF-get-a-notification-when-a-known-device-disconnects-from-your-tp-link-network
update: IFTTT does have a trigger that will log sleep data from a Fitbit, although I know that's not quite the route you wanted to go.
Unfortunately, the list of services is really long, and displayed by name-only, so I can't tell just by looking at it what could potentially be an alarm clock. https://ifttt.com/create
I bought these stickers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075CFXY8V/ref=emc_b_5_i
There are two tricks to getting it to read: 1)Hold the middle of the top edge of the phone to the tag and 2)Do it as soon as the screen comes on.
It also matters what you are putting the sticker onto. They don't work well when stuck to metal surfaces. These fridge magnets work well for me https://www.amazon.com/DLOnline-Supplies-Refrigerator-Whiteboards-Assorted/dp/B07NW3YN2K?ref_=ast_sto_dp
For what you're talking about you might be better served by IFTTT. Go there and search "stock".
You can link Trello to Reminders with IFTTT: https://ifttt.com/connect/trello/ios_reminders This may eliminate the need for Shortcuts altogether, as it would run automatically. Shortcuts might be able to do something similar with the Trello and Reminders actions, but it would be less automatic.
For other services, there may also be IFTTT options to explore.
For my Nest I use IFTTT. I create a webhook with their Maker channel and when I call it I pass it the temp I want to set. IFTTT then calls the Nest channel I have connected to my Nest to adjust the temperature. I just checked and they support Ecobee.
Hello everybody,
I finally managed to launch the Pushcut service on IFTTT.
Here is what you can do:
Combined with the Pushcut Automation Server:
Adding Pushcut to IFTTT opens up A LOT of possibilities for personal automation projects, and I cannot wait to see all the crazy connections that you will come up with.
Have fun exploring and let me know what you will be automating!
you can but sometimes you want to calculate something without telling everyone around you what are you doing, I also made a discount calculator + some additional features, this is my version
I’m using these. I’m not sure if they’re the best or particularly good or even if there’s variance between brands on how good the stickers are.
But yeah I definitely can’t wave my phone at it to trigger it. I have to put the top of my phone against the sticker and wait about 1/2 second until I feel the vibration to know the shortcut is running.
You used to be able to have shortcuts activate when an alarm goes off with automations in iOS 13, but unfortunately, Apple removed this feature from current betas. But you could use other 3rd party apps that send you a notification at a certain time to tap on such as IFTTT or Launch Center Pro. Here is an example of an IFTTT applet that uses a notification to open a shortcut.
The shortcut itself should link you to them the first time you run it. Here they are:
